Adira's POV
Napaangat ang aking tingin kung nasaan naroon si Aspen, na ngayon ay may masamang tingin na binibigay sa kung sino.
Bumaling ako sa pinto kung nasaan ang bagong dating at ganon na lamang ang panlalamig ng aking sistema ng makita ang mukha nito na takot man ay may makikita pa rin na determinasyon.
Kinuyom ko ang aking kamao sa galit bago magsalita.
"Why are you here?" Malamig kong saad na nagpabaling ng tingin nito sa akin.
He just stood there, looking at me with his mouth agape before closing it again. He started to shift his gaze all around the room, avoiding to meet our gazes, kasama si Aspen dahil hanggang ngayon ay masama pa rin itong nakatingin dito.
Kuya took a step forward but Aspen said something that made his steps halt.
"Stay where you are. Don't even think of getting close to her," saad nito sa malamig na boses.
Napayuko naman ako at hindi mapigilan na lumuha nang maisip ulit na kasama siya nina Chase para kidnapped-in ako.
"Why is that?"
Napaangat ang aking tingin ng marinig ang boses ni Lolo na nasa likod pala nito habang nakakunot ang noo na nakatingin kay Miss.
Aspen stiffened but remained her eyes on my brother. She took a step back bago ako tingnan ng may pag aalala sa mukha.
Ngumiti naman ako kay Pops ng tingnan ko siya, na kanina pa ata may naguguluhan na tingin sa aming dalawa ni Aspen.
"It's nothing, Lo." I said bago bigyan ng isang hindi maipaliwanag na ekspresyon sa mukha nito. Umiwas na ako ng tingin sa kaniya at bumaling kay Aspen.
Lumapit ito sa akin at hinalikan ako sa noo, "I'm going outside. Just call me when he does something, which I doubt since your Pops is here," she murmurs while her lips are still on my forehead.
I nodded and smiled at her.
Ngumiti muna ito sa akin bago lumabas na ng kwarto. Hindi rin naman nawala sa aking paningin ang pagbibigay ng masamang tingin nito kay Kuya.
I leaned my upper body on the headboard while my head is held down while playing with my fingers. Umupo naman ito sa sofa, medyo malapit lang sa amin at doon umupo.
Kuya cleared his throat and made me look at him, "H-how are you, Adi?"
Tumingin ako dito saglit at nakita na he's a mess right now. He's not his usual self. His appearance is not the usual cool as his only wearing a pants and a crumpled shirt na para bang hindi pa napapa-plantsa ng ilang taon. Parang hindi siya nagtatrabaho ng ilang araw sa lagay niya.
An unbelievable scoffed leave my lips after hearing what he asked before looking at him, sarcastically, "Oh, fine. Never been this better after being shot by someone. Yeah, so fine," I sarcastically said and rolled my eyes at nowhere.
The audacity to ask me how I am when it's their fault while I'm here in this goddamn hospital.
"What's with you, Adira?" Tanong ni Pops ng naguguluhan kaya tumingin ako dito ng walang emosyon na nagpagulat dito.
Right. They still didn't know.
Bumaling naman ako kay Kuya at muling napangiti ng sarkastiko dahil sa kalagayan niya ngayon. Para siyang maamong tupa na akala ay napaka mabuting tao pero nasa ilalim naman ang kulo.
For fvck's sake, nanggigigil ako just by the sight of him.
"Pops, can you leave us alone?" sabi ako matapos ang ilang minuto na namayani ang katahimikan sa kwarto.
Naguguluhan man ay tumango si Lolo at umalis na sa kwarto. Nakatingin lang naman ako kay Kuya na ngayon ay nakayuko sa kaniyang kinauupuan habang nilalaro ang mga daliri.
I scoffed, "Stop the act now. Pops is not here anymore," labas sa ilong kong saad at tumingin sa kung saan wag lang sa kaniya.
"I'm here to say sorry—"
"You're just going to apologize when I'm already shot in the stomach. That's so fucking great, thank you," Hindi makapaniwala kong saad at tumingin sa kawalan despite having tears in my eyes.
"You know for someone, ang lakas ng loob mong bisitahin ako dito after ng ginawa sa akin ng mga gago na 'yon." I spat bago mapayuko.
I can't look at him right now. Naaalala ko lang yung mga ginawa niya nung nandoon pa kami sa lugar kung saan nila ako dinala. And still, everything is not sinking in.

"I can't imagine that my supposed brother will just watch me there, crying for help dahil sa mga pinagsasabi nila doon! I can't imagine my supposed brother will just watch me being beaten ng dahil lang sa punyetang position sa hospital na 'yan!"

I look at him dead in the eye, na kahit man lang dito, masaktan ko siya through words.
"It was my brother who made an alliance with other selfish and greedy people who are obsessed with power."
"Adi—"
"Save it," maikli kong saad, "I want you to leave this room. God, I can't even look at you." I uttered and gasped because of tears.
"I just wanted you to forgive me, Adira. How come you can easily accept Aspen from who she is when I'm your brother—"
I scoffed, "The fucking audacity to question me about that."
Natahimik ang buong kwarto ng sabihin ko iyon sa kaniya. Nakakunot na ang noo nito habang ako ay masama pa rin ang tingin sa kaniya.
"Well, here's the fucking info, Kuya..." I spat, "Aspen makes me safe and that's the opposite of how I feel when I'm meters from you."
He doesn't like what he said kaya naman nagsimula itong humakbang papalapit sa akin not minding that I'm starting to panic inside.
"I am telling you this one more time... leave!" Sigaw ko ng makita na lumapit pa ito lalo sa akin pero hindi ito nagpatinag at mas lalong lumapit.
Nakita ko naman ang pag-iling nito sa aking peripheral vision at inilapit ang upuan sa akin kaya napasinghap ako dahil sa panic.
Scary and blurry scenes came back to my mind while smelling his disgusting scent surrounding the whole room.
Napapikit ako, "Don't come near me, please."
It's a whisper, na kahit ako ay hindi marinig ang sinasabi. He doesn't know what I'm feeling right now. Every scene in that abandoned house came back as I am struggling with my breath to get even.
'You're not going to leave this place without you lying in your own blood.'
It started to play loop in my head as my tears and breathing only got worse. I closed my eyes to calm myself but failed as I saw the scene happen during that time.
"Adi, ayos ka lang ba—?"
"Fvck! Don't touch me!" Nanginginig kong saad at winaksi ang hawak nito sa aking balikat.
Napatakip ako ng aking tainga ng marinig ang mga putok ng baril noong nandoon pa kami. Gunshots is the only sound that I heard in this time while Kuya is still talking, more like shouting that just make my breathing got worse.
"Adira! You need to tell me what's wrong!"
"Merda! Move!"
I felt someone go towards me while shaking my shoulders. Patuloy lang naman akong nakapikit habang pinapakalma ang sarili pero bigo talaga akong magawa iyon.
Aspen. I need my Aspen.
"Hey, I'm here. I'm here," someone said in a hushed tone while rubbing my arms to calm me down. Napapikit lang naman ako habang pinapakiramdaman ang mga hawak nito sa akin while whispering comforting words in my ear.
"What the hell happened, Caleb?" Rinig kong tanong ni Lolo pero hindi ako tumingin dito. Takot na makita pa rin ang mga ito.
"I don't know!" I heard him shout.
I whimpered when I heard that and unconsciously nuzzled my head on Aspen's neck.
"Leave, Caleb," kalmado ang boses noon pero halatang nagpipigil lang sa sarili na sugurin si Kuya. She is just stroking my hair while rubbing my arm with the other hand.
"What? I didn't do anything—!"
"Can't you see you're triggering her right now?" She sneered and glared at my brother afterwards, "Once again, I'm asking you to leave this room, now. Don't make me come near you," dagdag na sambit nito kaya nanahimik ang buong kwarto.
Nakalagay man ang mukha ko sa leeg niya ay ramdam ko pa rin ang namumuong tensyon sa buong kwarto sa lamig ng pagsasalita nito. Ramdam ko rin ang pagsisimula ng pagbigat ng hininga nito kaya agad kong hinawakan ang kamay niya and stroke it using my thumb.
"Just leave, Caleb. You can talk to her some other time," rinig kong saad ni Lolo kay Kuya kaya nakahinga ako ng maluwag.
"I bet not," bulong ng aking katabi habang patuloy lang sa mga haplos sa buhok ko.
I heard someone hastily open the door then slam it afterwards, indicating he already left. Kumalas ako sa yakap kay Aspen at pinasalamatan ito na siya naman nginitian lang.
"What really happened, apo?" Rinig kong tanong ni Lolo kaya napaangat ang aking tingin dito at wala sa sariling nilibot ang tingin.
My other cousins is also here, looking at me worriedly but still have confusion in their eyes. Kahit naman ako ay maguguluhan din kung bakit bigla ka na lang ma t-trigger sa sarili mong kapatid. Hindi lang talaga nila alam kung ano ang nangyari a few days ago.
Umiling ako, "I want to be alone for now. Please..." Marahan kong saad at napahilot sa sentido, "I wanna be alone... with Aspen."

Nakita niya naman na nakatingin ako sa kaniya kaya tumango na ito at naunang lumabas ng kwarto.
"Una na kami, Adira! Magpagaling, ha? Huwag unahin ang landi," saad ni Dione at mabilis na lumabas ng makita na aambahan ko siya ng unan. Kahit kailan talaga!
Namumula naman na tumingin ako sa aking mga pinsan na ngayon ay may mapang-asar na ngiti sa kanilang mga labi na lalong nagpamula sa akin. Kasalanan 'to ni Dione.
"We'll get going," saad ni Ate Sid ng natatawang umiiling kaya yumuko ako at tumango habang namumula. Kumaway lang naman sila Soleil at Felicity bago mauna nang lumabas.
Bumaling ako sa aking katabi ng maisarado na ang pinto ng kwarto. She have this gentle smile on her face while looking at me kaya lalo akong namula. Tigilan niya ang pagtitig sa akin ng ganiyan.
"Are you hungry? Want me to grab lunch?" Sabi nito at tumingin sa relo, "It's past lunch time but still you need to eat." Sabi nito at ngumiti sa akin ng matamis.
"Also, you want to take a bath before eating while I buy you food? Ano?" Aligaga na usal nito kaya napangiti ako sa aking isipan.

She hummed but didn't reply so I looked at her, looking for her reaction. She just lay there, in deep thought. I sighed.
"You know, I don't really want to study there—"
"I don't want you to stay here just because of me, Adira," biglang saad nito habang nakatingin sa kawalan kaya kunot noo akong tumingin dito before chuckling.
"So bold of you to think that it's because of you, Miss Ferrucci," nang aasar na sambit ko. She just laughed before kissing the back of my hand.
"I'm serious here, love."
"But, Aspen..."
"Your dreams and future are more important than me, Adira. I want you to explore the world and..." She uttered and looked me directly in the eyes, "I want you to be happy."
Tumingin lang din naman ako dito ng naluluha. She is also important to me and she's the reason why I am happy. Graduating is the only thing on my mind when I step on the very first time in this campus but now, I want to be with her every step of the way.
"You can't be with someone who has a lot of problems and enemies around them. I don't want you to be in danger while you're with me," she said, which made me look at her in confusion. What does she mean by that?
"Chase your dreams while I fix my own problems," she said and stroked my cheeks, softly. I nodded and nuzzled my face to her neck, listening to her voice.
"After that, let's find each other and chase our dreams together."
