"Daddy? Are you still there?" I whimpered, hoping for an answer.
"Yes, sweety. I'm here... Just having a hard time breathing." he said, panting as I could imagine the smoke rising to his floor of the second tower of the World Trade Center.
I was scared for him. I was scared for me, as well. My father's fate was already chosen... He was going to die, and we both knew it. I suddenly heard what sounded like metal bending, and something was about to collapse. I could suddenly hear my father scream into my ear, causing me to go wide eyed as I cried out to him, but no answer. Nothing but the sound of static.
I rushed towards the window, and the telephone slipped through my grasp as I screamed out his name, watching as the tower crumbled right before my eyes. He was inside... And now he was being pulverized and crushed by the weight of the falling building of the World Trade Center. I was crying so hard that I could hardly breathe. The nanny came rushing towards me and held me close to her, letting me cry into her shoulder.
My daddy, my best friend, and the only family I had left... Was gone.
