what used to be adams inhaler laid in pieces on the kitchen counter.
wow sighed.
"adam, you broke your inhaler? how?" she questioned, staring at the broken pieces.
adam was about to open his mouth, but he bit down on his lower lip.
he hated cherry.
this would be a great opportunity to show his mother how mean cherry was!
she'd finally be proven evil.
she would stop bullying him in his own home. she would mostly leave him alone.
cherry wouldn't be storming into his house at ungodly hours of the morning to babysit him.
they wouldn't continue their weird hate-love relationship.
cherry wouldn't make those stupid jokes.
they wouldn't play monopoly anymore, which they played often.
he'd be lonely.
he'd lose her.
no matter how much he hated her, or how annoying she was, she was basically the only person in his life.
and he was the only person in hers.
they were both angry children who hated each other.
but they would pause the hate for a moment to sit next to each other on the couch.
even if they were both pressing against the very edge, determined to not be anywhere near each other because they 'hated' each other.
but they were still sitting on the same couch.
wether or not they were fighting, they were still together.
neither of them knew why they were the way they were.
if they both claimed to hate each other so much, why did they never stop?
cherry could easily quit her job as a babysitter.
she could leave adam alone at school.
she could switch seats. she could even switch classes.
adam could delete his hate page. he could get some weird sort of restraining order against her.
there were so many things they could do to distance themselves away from each other if they truly hated the other as much as they claimed.
but they didn't.
"i stepped on it." adam lied. "it was an accident. i'm sorry."
ellie rubbed her temples, and took a deep breath. "it's okay, adam."
"i have to go to work. cherry will-"
a knock on the door interrupted the mother.
"thats her." ellie stood up, heading over to the door.
cherry smiled. "good morning! sorry i'm late. i. brought coffee!"
she held up the tray of coffee.
she had been babysitting for ellie for a while, so she had basically everything about the mother and son memorized.
which kind of annoyed her.
she knew nothing about her friends, but it was like she knew everything about adam.
it seemed like she was obsessed with him.
her friends teased her about it. it wasn't her fault she just had really good memory!
besides, she spent basically every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year with him.
how would she not know basic information about him?
at least, that was what she told herself.
knowing his entire astrology chart was not basic information.
"it's fine. you're just in time! i'm off to work." ellie smiled at the girl.
cherry held out the cup of coffee, and the woman took it gratefully.
"you're an angel." she said, hugging her and waving goodbye to her son.
the door shut behind her, leaving the pair of children alone.
"ugh." cherry groaned.
"that's the first thing you say? no good morning? no how was your day?" adam teased.
"no. if it was a good morning i'd be in huening kai's arms right now. but i'm here babysitting you, even though you're too fucking old."
"you're the one who signed up. just quit."
"yeah, because your mom was hot! i didn't know i'd have to deal with you. if i knew that, i wouldn't have even applied."
"i hope you get fired. do you think i want to deal with you? no!"
"liar. you love me."
"you make me want to punch you in the face."
"romantically?"
adam groaned, placing his head in his hands.
cherry walked over to the kitchen counter, placing the tray of coffee down.
"i don't want your coffee." adam scoffed, returning to his breakfast.
"then don't drink it." cherry said, rolling her eyes and rolling on her lipgloss.
adam stood up, walking over to the couch.
he snatched up a pillow, smacking cherry across the legs with it.
even though it didn't have much effect, because it was a pillow, it still annoyed the girl.
it was like the equivalent of a child putting their finger very close to your face and then saying 'i'm not touching you!'
cherry tore the pillow out of his hands, smacking his head with it.
he grabbed another pillow, hitting her arm.
they continued to fight, trying to be aggressive.
but they were fighting with pillows, which was not aggressive at all.
"you're so annoying!" cherry groaned.
adam smacked her in the face with a pillow.
"you're more annoying!" adam grinned.
"my lipgloss is on that pillow."
"what?"
adam turned to look at the pillow, and cherry smacked him in the face.
"i hate you!" he scoffed.
another rule of revenge; constantly get into fights with them.
there was nothing more satisfying than seeing adam annoyed or angry.
especially over petty things, because that's when he got most defensive.
before adam could hit cherry back, she pulled out her phone and put her hand up.
adam paused.
she unlocked her phone, opening the instagram rumor account.
'did you guys know that cherry got into a physical fight with a fan? that's so funny!'
"you and your fans are so weird." adam shook his head, reading the caption over her shoulder.
"shut up." cherry glared, turning her phone off.
she didn't bother reporting the account anymore.
"i'm just saying! how does anyone in the right mind willingly follow you?"
"because i'm pretty and funny."
"i wouldn't say that."
"you would say i'm gorgeous and show-stopping."
"i would pray for your accounts to get banned."
"wow. that's fucked up. spread positivity."
"you're fucked up!"
cherry's phone dinged; another rumor?
no, just adam's mom.
'hi! would be you be willing to say for a few more hours? i'm working over time. i'll pay more, of course.'
cherry groaned.
she didn't have to do it.
she hated adam.
why would they willingly volunteer to spend more time than they had too with him?
it was like punishing herself for no reason.
she really didn't want too, but she also felt really bad.
ellie was a single mom working for her son, who was a fucking asshole.
she must be tired.
cherry sent her a text back, agreeing.
"ew. i have to stay here for way longer." cherry cringed, re-reading the texts.
"that sounds like a you problem." adam took a seat on the couch.
he completely forgot about his breakfast.
"it's a world problem! how am i supposed to spam post what i'm doing if you're in the background of my picture?" cherry questioned.
"you would start getting more views." adam glared.
"no, i would get cancelled for not putting a jump-scare warning."
"i hate you. like i genuinely hate you so much."
"i hate you even more."
"i hate your stupid face."
"i hope you get pregnant."
"i can't get pregnant! i'm a boy."
"if you try hard enough."
"you're so dumb."
"whatever!"
"whatever!"
adam dramatically stood up off the couch, and stormed up the stairs.
cherry rolled her eyes, knowing he'd be back in about an hour when he got bored of staring at his wall.
she walked over to the counter and picked up her drink.
she left a new inhaler next to the shattered pieces of adams old one.
