"Come on guys, up and at em."
Joyce shook y/n's shoulder, the girl slowly sitting up. She reached up to the top bunk to do the same to Will, the bed empty. "Will?" The woman quickly left the room, walking down the hall.
"Jonathan? Where's Will?"
The boy turned, "What? He's not in his room?" Joyce shook her head, turning on her heel. y/n rubbed her eyes as she emerged from her room, Joyce brushing by her and opening the door to the bathroom.
"Will?" The boy looked up to his mother, his brows drawing in frustration. "What're you doing?" Joyce let out the words quietly, Will beginning to grow agitated. "Peeing?" The woman chucked, nodding before closing the door.
y/n stayed to watch the first half of the interaction before retreating to the kitchen to eat some breakfast. Will joined her eventually, the two then going to get changed into their costumes. y/n wore jeans and a very big white sweater Hopper had given her, dressed as a ghost.
Joyce came to the kid's room with the rest of the costume, assisting her son in putting it on. "Let's get this on..." Joyce helped him with his back-pack, noticing a stray wire. "Need some tape." She made her way to the desk, noticing a drawing sticking out from under a textbook.
The woman frowned, holding it up. "What's this?"
y/n immediately cast her eyes to Will, she hadn't used her power on him since that day in the arcade but it was apparent that he'd had more visions. She gave him a knowing look, the boy stuttering as he tried to come up with a lie.
"Uh nothing. J-Just a sketch for a story I'm writing."
Joyce smiled, grabbing tape. "Alright."
They quickly finished getting ready, going into the living room for a mini photoshoot. This being y/n's third or fourth time doing this, Joyce helped arrange her into poses with Will, gushing about how cute they looked.
"All right back to back." Jonathan looked through the lens of his camera. The kids followed his instructions, y/n putting on a smile. The camera flashed again, Joyce and Jonathan finally letting the two go.

y/n and Will walked up the path from the parking lot to the bike rack, the out of tune voices of their friend's singing the ghostbusters theme filling the air. Just as they sang, "who you gonna call?", the two reached the group, Will finishing the verse.
"Ghostbusters!"
They turned, Lucas grinning. "Egon!" Will hugged him, laughing. "Venkman!" Mike frowned at this, pushing the two boys apart. "Woah woah woah, why are you Venkman?" Lucas looked at his friend as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Because I'm Venkman?"
Mike shook his head, y/n feeling an argument approaching. "No, I'm Venkman." Mike stressed, y/n speaking up. "Why not two Venk-man?" Mike shook his head, rolling his eyes at the girl. "Because there's only one Venkman in real life! We planned this months ago!"
y/n took a slight step back, unsure whether she should hide behind Will or Dustin, a tough choice really. Mike continued, Lucas growing annoyed. "I'm Venkman, Dustin's Stanz, Will's Egon, y/n's a ghost because there isn't a fifth member and you're Winston!"
He finished his speech, y/n finally deciding to take a step over to Dustin, grabbing the boy's hand. "I specifically didn't agree to Winston." Lucas argued, Mike looking shocked. "Yes you did!" He retorted.
"I don't think he did." Will muttered.
"No one wants to be Winston, man." Lucas shook his head, y/n staring at the ground now, zoned out. "What's wrong with Winston?" Asked Mike, Lucas sighing. "He joined the team super late, he's not funny, and he's not even a scientist!"
"He's still cool."
"Oh yeah? Then you be Winston." Lucas deadpanned, Mike shaking his head. "I can't!" He argued. "Why not?" Mike began to grow flustered, stuttering. "B-Because-"
"B-B-Because you're not black?" Lucas finished his statement, y/n looking up. She squinted at Mike, waiting for his response. Race and Racism was a concept Lucas had explained to her and he had done a fairly good job.
"I didn't say that!" The two began to go back and forth, Dustin turning. y/n, naturally, turned with him, seeing as their hands were connected. "Guys...Guys! Guys!" Dustin raised his voice on the last word, his friends finally turning to him.
"Why is no one else wearing costumes?"
The bell rang, the five walking inside, students laughing at them, mainly the boy's as y/n's costume could easily be seen as a fashion choice. "When do people make these decisions?" Dustin muttered, dragging y/n along behind him.
Their hands were still connected, the girl didn't really know why but she didn't mind. Dustin's hand was soft and warm, much better than Lucas' or Mike's, though it was a close call between him and Will.
"Everyone dressed up last year..." Will looked around at the othree students, quickly averting his eyes back to the ground. "Just, be cool." Mike whispered, two boys jumping out in front of them.
"Who you gonna call?"
"The nerds!"

"Hi Max, I'm Dustin this is-"
"Lucas." The boy smiled, pointing to y/n beside him. "This is Y/N." The girl waved, Max turning and closing her locker. She wasn't really sure why she was here, Dustin had said something about them both being girls and getting along.
"Yeah I know." The redhead skimmed her eyes over the three, unimpressed. "The stalkers." The boy's both exchanged glances, y/n letting out a small laugh. "Stalkers..." She mumbled under her breath, Max smiling at her.
"N-No we weren't stalking you- we- we were just concerned because you're new and all." Lucas nodded, "Y-Yeah! For your safety." Dustin nodded once more, "There's a lot of bullies here."
y/n narrowed her eyes at the two, confused. She could sense they were both very nervous but she couldn't tell why. Was it because Max was a girl? But she was a girl as well. It didn't make much sense to her.
"So many bullies- it's crazy." Lucas swirled his finger around his head, looking between Max and Dustin. Max looked the boys up and down, "Is that why you're wearing proton packs?"
Lucas smiled slightly at the fact she knew the name of their backpacks, Dustin answering her question. "W-Well these don't function, but!" He turned, fidgeting with something on his back. "I do have this handy little trap here. And look- it even opens and closes."
He held up the part of his costume, Max practically scoffing at him. "It's cool right?" The boy questioned, Max staying silent. "No? Okay- but um we were talking last night a-and you're new here..."
y/n frowned, the boys right back where they started. "Max." She spoke, everyone turning to her. "Do you want...to come trick or treat with us?" She spoke slowly, turning to Lucas to make sure she said it right.
Dustin smiled at the girl, turning back to Max. "Y-Yeah we figured you want in." Max turned back to the two boys, the smile she had fading. "That's presumptuous of you." y/n scrunched up her nose at the word, sounding it out in her head.
"S-So you'll come?"
The redhead rolled her eyes, slamming the locker shut and turning to walk away. "We're meeting at the maple street cul-de-sac at seven on the dot!" Dustin called after her, Lucas sighing. He grabbed y/n's hand, turning to walk down the hall, Dustin following.
"Presumptuous." He repeated, smiling. "That's a good thing right?" Lucas rolled his eyes, walking faster with y/n as Dustin struggled to keep pace,
"Is it bad?"

"I hope it doesn't suck!"
Jonathan rolled his eyes, y/n turning back to Bob, waving with a big smile before climbing into the backseat of the car. They pulled away from the house and it wasn't long before they were speeding towards their meeting point.
"I just don't get what she sees in him." Jonathan shook his head, Will turning to him. "What?" Jonathan turned to him, narrowing his eyes with a scornful expression. "Bob."
Will shrugged, "At least he doesn't treat me different."
y/n smiled, looking out the window. "I like Bob. He's like Santa Claus." Both boy's looked back at her in confusion before looking at one another, letting out a small laugh. Will, however, quickly returned to his somber mood.
"I can't even go trick or treating by myself, it's lame." Jonathan scoffed, "You think I'm lame?" y/n shook her head from the backseat, the boy shooting her a grateful smile. "No but it's not like Nancy's coming to watch over Mike, you know?" Will answered.
The two sat in silence for a few minutes, Jonathan sighing. They slowly pulled up to Mike's house, the older boy frowning as he looked over to his younger brother. "Hey, listen." Will turned back to him, "Yeah?"
"If I let you guys go on your own you promise to stay in the neighborhood?" Will nodded eagerly, "Yeah! Yeah yeah! Totally!" Jonathan smiled, motioning to Mike's house. "Be back at Mike's by 9." Will smiled, "9:30?"
"9:00"
"Deal!" He looked back, smiling brightly at y/n. The girl didn't know what he was so happy about but it made her happy, the girl smiling in response. The two climbed out of the car, Jonathan handing him the camera Bob had given them.
"I hope it doesn't suck." He imitated Bob, both y/n and Will laughing. Will closed the car door, the two kids running to meet up with their friends.

"Trick or treat!"
The door opened, an old woman smiling down at the group. "Well aren't you cute! The little exterminators and their ghost!" She held out the bowl, y/n and Dustin smiling wide as the rest of their friends frowned, taking handfuls of candy.
They turned to walk away from the house, Lucas complaining. "If I get another 3 Musketeers I'm gonna kill myself." Dustin looked happily into his bag of candy, "What's wrong with 3 Musketeers?"
y/n nodded, "What's wrong?" The girl had yet to find a candy she didn't enjoy so no matter what she got she was always happy.
"What's wrong with 3 Musketeers?" Lucas repeated, squinting at his two friends. Will sighed, nodding. "Yeah it's just nougat." Dustin scoffed, looking almost offended. "Just nougat? It is top three for me."
"Top three?" Asked Lucas, Dustin repeating himself with a smile. "Top three." Mike groaned, "Oh god give me a break." Dustin continued to ramble on about how good it was, explaining how he could eat a bowl of just nougat making y/n scrunch up her nose.
She liked it but not that much.
The group reached the street, turning as they continued to talk. Suddenly someone jumped out of the bush, a mask on and a plastic machete in hand. They screamed causing the boys to scream, y/n covering her ears at the loud noise.
The person laughed, pulling off their mask to reveal their face. "Holy shit you should've seen the looks on your faces." Max laughed, then pointing to Lucas. "And you? Who screams like that? You sound like a little girl."
y/n smiled, repeating the words. "Little girl." Ever since Max had come to school she had been taught loads of new ways to refer to her friends, creeps, stalkers, and now Lucas was a little girl.
Max smiled at y/n, grabbing her hand and beginning to walk away. The boys all exchanged glances, slightly confused as to why their friend was being kidnapped. The redhead paused, turning over her shoulder.
"You guys coming or not? I heard we should hit up Loch Nora, that's where all the rich people live right?" She began walking again, y/n stumbling behind. Both Dustin and Lucas wasted no time following, Will and Mike following slightly slower.

"Another full size! Seriously rich people are such suckers."
y/n smiled looking into her almost half full pillow case. She had to be careful not to eat much tonight so she didn't get a stomach ache, something she discovered on Halloween of her fifth grade year.
She walked beside Mike, the boy pulling her along by hand, sort of roughly, as he groaned in annoyance. "Did you agree to this?" He turned to Will, then y/n, the girl looking up from her bag of candy.
"What?" Will questioned, Mike shaking his head. "To her joining our party." Will shrugged, "It's just for Halloween. They were excited and I guess I thought you'd be okay with it. "
Mike began to walk faster, releasing y/n's hand and leaving the girl behind. "She's ruining the best night of the year." He stated, Will and y/n watching him walk off. "Come on." Will grabbed y/n's hand, starting to follow, stopping again for some reason.
"Watch it! Zombie boy!"
y/n jumped slightly, a wolf looking boy coming around the corner. "Trick or treat, freak!" A killer came next, then a clown. "Boo!" Will stumbled back, y/n catching him to keep the boy from falling to the ground.
However even though she caught him he seemed to have zoned out, having another episode. y/n closed her eyes, blood dripping from her nose as she saw through his eyes.
Once again he was in the upside down.
Nobody was around and the sky was dark. The eyes suddenly lifted to watch the sky, a huge shadow-like monster beginning to form. It turned to look at them, y/n wasting no time. She tried her best to stay in the vision so Will wasn't alone, grabbing his hand and taking off toward the nearest house.
She led him behind it, down some steps and behind a brick wall. Will hugged his knees to his chest, whispering something to himself. y/n began to grow scared, sensing the monster near them. She wanted to open her eyes and run but she couldn't leave Will alone.
"Will!"
Both kids' eyes shot open, y/n suddenly feeling very drained. She looked up to see Mike, the boy crouching in front of his two friends. "What's wrong? What happened?"
"Holy shit!" Dustin's voice came from above, the boy racing down the steps with Lucas and Max. "Are they okay?" Lucas reached the bottom, Mike shaking his head. "I don't know. I'm gonna get you guys home okay?"
He helped the two stand, y/n stumbling slightly as she wiped at her bloody nose, just further smearing the blood onto her face. Mike wrapped his arm around Will's shoulders, using the other to grab y/n's hand, leading them up the steps.
Dustin went to grab y/n's other hand, Mike turning to him harshly. "I got them, I got them." y/n looked between the two boys, Dustin looking hurt. "Mike." The boy turned, "Keep trick or treating, I'm bored anyway."
He continued up the steps once more, y/n turning back to face her friends as she was dragged along. She slightly lifted her hand to wave at them, keeping it there until they were out of sight.

"It's like- like I'm stuck." Will explained. "Stuck in the Upside Down?" The boy shook his head, "No. You know on a view master when it gets stuck between two slides." Mike nodded, Will continuing. "One side is our world and the other slide is the Upside Down."
y/n watched the two boys conversate from her place in the tent fort, her knees hugged tightly to her chest. She wished more than anything that Eleven was here right now, not only could she use her comfort but she might be able to figure out what's going on.
"And there was this noise, coming from everywhere." Will's eyes widened, his voice beginning to tremble. "A-And then I saw something." y/n frowned, Mike looking at his friend in concern. "The demogorgon?"
The girl shook her head, "Mind flayer." She whispered, both boys not hearing her. Of course she didn't know for sure it was a mind flayer, she didn't even know if that was real but of all the things she had seen they looked most alike.
"No. It was like this huge shadow in the sky." Will explained, "Only, it was alive. And it was coming for me." Mike, scared for his friend, continued to ask questions. "Is this all real or is it in your head like the doctors say?"
He prayed it was the latter.
"I don't know, just- please don't tell the others. They won't understand." y/n lifted her head slightly, her frown deepening. She didn't want to betray Will's trust but she didn't want to lie to Dustin or Lucas.
She sighed, laying her head between her knees. Having friends was hard. Suddenly Mike spoke again, "Eleven would." y/n looked up through her eyelashes, sadness building within her. "She would?" Will asked.
"Yes." Yy/nN spoke, her voice slightly raised so they could hear her. "El would." Mike nodded in agreement, "She always did." They sat in silence for a moment before Mike spoke again. "Sometimes I feel like I still see her, like she's still around. But she never is."
y/n would give anything for a glimpse of her sister, she felt slightly jealous of the boy. Even with her powers she couldn't find her, maybe she was too weak. Or maybe Eleven had-
"I don't know, sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy." The girl's thought was interrupted by Mike. "Me too." Will agreed, y/n lifting her head. "Me too." The boy's chuckled at her, Will smiling. "You're supposed to say me three."
y/n smiled awkwardly at her mistake, Mike smiling to his two best friends. "Well if we're going crazy then we'll go crazy together right?" Both Will and y/n smiled, the boy nodding in agreement. "Yeah."
"Crazy together." y/n spoke.
