Mia's 16th birthday

"Sweetheart stop crying" Enzo sits next to me on the chairs outside our room on the balcony, his fingers brushing back the pieces of hair falling onto my face
"She's practically an adult now! Wanting her license and everything" I sniff leaning on Enzo
"I know, I know, I don't like the idea of her growing up so fast, especially when boys are involved" Enzo scoffs
I laugh slightly as I climb onto his lap looking at his beautiful face, even after all these years I still love him,
Possibly even more than when we were only dating, possibly more than on our wedding day, it feels like the love only grows as the year's pass
"You know that a boy in her grade asked her out right?" I say attempting to hide my smile
He freezes under me and frowns "name...give me the damn boys name I need to have a chat with this little gremlin who thinks he can date my daughter"
I cup his cheeks with a laugh, kissing his lips softly I lean against his touch "relax I told her she can't date until she's 30"
"30?! Make it 60" Enzo stresses subconsciously gripping my thighs and pulling me closer
I kiss his cheek smiling against it "it's crazy how much time has passed huh..."
And It is crazy, the twins are eight years old now,
Our little miracle Baby Romeo is already four,
We've been married for over ten years,
And my life's turned from looking over my shoulder in fear and screaming in my sleep, fearing the dark,
To take late-night walks with Enzo, wake up with a smile on my face, and never have to fear that my parents are somewhere near.
"Yeah...I guess that's what happens when you're happy" Enzo grins looking at my face
His thumb gently wipes away some stray tears as he watches me with a love-filled gaze "you're so beautiful" he whispers
I feel the blush rising up my cheeks and I instantly cover my face,
I'm not sure how he still manages to make me blush or feel this much after so many years
His chuckle runs through my body, creating a ripple of tingles to shoot throughout my body, igniting a fire that can't be put out, a type of fire that just grows and grows,
"I love your blush" he whispers in my ear, his lips tickling the shell of my ear as he speaks, his breath heating my skin up,
"Let's go before we get distracted, I need to make sure everything is perfect for Mia's party" I kiss his jaw talking against it
He grunts and mumbles a "cockblocker"
I laugh getting up and taking his hand in mine as I pull him up,
"You and me both no I'm anything but" I frown pulling him out of the balcony in our room
I can hear the smirk in his voice "Mhm certainly not, but right now you are"
I roll my eyes "shush it and help with our daughter's party"
We get to work, I check on her cake making sure it's as perfect as can be, I look through the rest of the desserts and food and then head out to the living room
I see Enzo smiling at our wedding picture, I'm grinning at the camera and he has his gaze completely on me looking at me with so much love that it makes my heart burst,
I lean in the doorway watching his eyes slide to the next picture which is in the hospital where I'm holding our twins, and Enzo is looking down at the twins and me with tears down his cheeks and a huge grin,
The next picture is of me heavily pregnant with Romeo and Mia planting a kiss on my belly as the twins laugh in the background with chocolate all over them as Enzo chases them around the yard,
I still remember Ava laughing her ass off behind the camera and Matt telling the twins to run faster just to annoy Enzo,
"You know this doesn't seem like you're checking the decorations" I smile as I hug him from behind
He hums grabbing me so I'm in front, his chin resting on the top of my head as he looks at our wall of memories, big milestones in our lives and moments that fill our hearts with joy and have a story behind every picture,
We have multiple family photo walls in the house because there are so many moments that are engraved in our hearts with happiness,
I look around our house, the aesthetic of it is back to a more darker tone but toys usually overtake every corner because of the children,
But it's all cleared out for Mia's party, there are school drawings on our fridge, pictures, and a certain feeling of safety within our home,
What once was simple walls and a rooftop with furniture, it's now a home filled with memories and love,
With good times and hard,
With laughter, tears, kids bickering and Toys everywhere that we constantly trip over,
I wouldn't change my life for anything, I have a man that loves me unconditionally,
Children,
A best friend that still lives next door and is as much in our lives now as she was before.
I feel Enzo's arms around me tighten and he places a kiss on the side of my head, I instinctively lean against his chest and touch, loving the feel of his warm lips against me and the safety his body gives me,
My eyes land on a picture of him on one knee in the library, with fairy lights everywhere just as I wanted,
"I still can't believe the library kept all the lights and decor there after all these years" I whisper with a smile as I look at the tears in my eyes and smile on my face in the photo
"They all know that whoever goes into the romance sections loves sappy shit and that was very sappy" Enzo chuckles in my ear
"I loved it, I don't think you could've pulled off a better proposal" I turn around putting my arms around his neck, threading my fingers through his hair as I stare at him with complete happiness, unbelievably in love with the man in front of me
He smiles down at me, his thumb gently grazes my brow, then cheek, then bottom lip,
"Sometimes I look at you when you fall asleep in my arms and still don't believe this is my reality...me and you, us...our family, it feels like I got my dream life handed to me and it will be taken away at any second, It's been over ten years and I still can't believe you're my wife and mother of our children" he whispers
He rests his forehead against mine, his breath washing over my lips, "I love you" I tell him against the lips that have kissed me and loved me thousands of times, but that I can never get enough of
I feel his smile against my lips "not as much as me, never as much as me" he whispers before kissing me with love, so much of it that my knees would've given out if he wasn't holding me

"Mom" Mia groans in embarrassment
"Come on sweetie just one picture, before your dad gets here, I want pictures with your friend" I smile
She frowns "fine" she mumbles
Mia and the boy next to her smile for the picture, and her other friends wait in the driveway,
"Be safe sweetheart and remember to be back before seven because family is coming over for your birthday" I kiss her cheek
"Mom stop embarrassing me" she whispers
I chuckle at her trying to play cool In front of her crush
I see the boy tense up and immediately know my husband is behind me,
"You lay a finger on my daughter and you won't have fingers anymore got it?" Enzo warns the boy
He clears his throat glancing at Mia quickly "yes sir" he clears his throat once more
"Good," Enzo says nodding, he turns to Mia raising a brow "no being alone with him got it?"
Mia huffs "dad stop"
"I love you stay safe" I smile
"I love you too mom" she mumbles making me smile
They make their way down to the cars "make sure to use protection" I call out with a smirk
Enzo pinches my side hard leveling me with a glare to which I laugh at
"I'm kidding you, dummy," I tell him continuing to laugh
"I'm kidding, if you have sex, you won't have a life until your 60" I call out to her
Her cheeks grow pinker in embarrassment "mom quit it...I'm not doing that"
"You better not" Enzo calls out

"Omg your parents are so embarrassing" one of my friends cringed in disbelief
"I think your dad tried to kill me with his eyes" my crush mutters
My cheeks heat in embarrassment "yeah I don't think I'm ever having sex...I'm convinced they'll know immediately "I mumble
"So you're still gonna be a virgin before you turn 16! Boo that's boring" one of my other friends laughs
"Oh be quiet my life won't end because I didn't have sex before I turned 16" I roll my eyes
"Yeah yeah...well you still have a couple of hours till the time you were officially born so...you can always do it" my other friend smirks
"Guys quit it!! This is so embarrassing" I groan
They all laugh making me turn even redder than before, once we get to the fair we buy our tickets and then decide on what to do first
"Well you're the birthday girl so you decide," my crush says
I smile "umm how about we ride some rides first, then play some of the games, and then get something to eat?"
They all nod "sounds good" one of them says
After riding a bunch of the rides one of my friends smirks in my direction, her eyes then go to my crush and then back at me
"How about you guys go on the Farris wheel?"
Oh God...there trying to get me and my crush to kiss
"No, it's fine let's just go play some of the games" I brush her comment off
"The games can wait" my other friend nudges me
I sigh,
I feel like I'm betraying my parents by doing something like kissing a boy when they told him not to touch me and for us to not do anything,
"No guys I don't wanna go on it" I shake my head
My friend's eyes bulge out of their skulls because they know how much I like Ryan and my big crush on him, so I'm sure they're losing their minds that I said no to a chance at kissing him
"You sure?" One of them asks
I think for a moment and decide that the guilt would eat me up inside if I kiss him knowing my parents trusted me to go out today and not do anything like kiss a boy,
"Yeah I'm sure...maybe another time" I nod
"Okay" one of them shrugs walking towards the games
We all follow her and get competitive with each other at all the games we play
"OH COME ON!! That's so rigged" one of my friends groan at a water gun game
I laugh as I shoot the gun next to her winning
"You're just saying that because you're losing" I egg her on
The bell rings when I win and I squeal in excitement "yes! I won one"
"Ugh whatever you got lucky I'll beat you next time" my friend frowns
I laugh picking out a little plushy that I can give to Romeo when we get home,
After we get done wasting money on games we walk to the food court, but when my friends get a little ahead Ryan stops me
"Hey...so I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go out" he scratches the back of his neck
I hide my smile as I press my lips together
"We are out right now though" I tilt my head to the side
He shifts from one foot to another "I mean like just you and I, a date"
"You want to go out on a date with me?" I smile
He nods his head slowly
I think for a moment, I really like him and I can say yes right now and if my parents say no to the date I could cancel...
A guy asked me out in class not long ago and my mom wasn't super mad at the idea...but I know dad will have a meltdown about a guy being near me
"Okay" I nod
He smiles but then clears his throat trying to act calm which makes me giggle a little
"Let me eat you" his eyes widen at his words
I press my lips together trying my hardest not to laugh
Oh gosh...this is so awkward
"Oh God I didn't mean to say eat you...not like that, like us eat together, food I mean" he sighs, his neck is red in embarrassment
"Let's just go to the others now" I laugh grabbing his hand and pulling him to the food court

"HAPPPYYYY BIRTHDAYYYY TOOO YOUuuuoooooUuuu" everyone finishes singing and I grin as I blow out the candles
I watch my parents and siblings, then our next-door neighbors and their kids which are my parent's best friends, then my dad's parents
"Thank you" I smile
"Cake!!!" Romeo chants holding onto the plushy I gave him when I won it at the fair earlier today, I kept a plushy Ryan won me to myself though
"Let's let daddy cut the cake okay?" My mom says kneeling in front of Romeo,
He nods with a big smile on his face watching dad cutting the chocolate cake into slices,
I smile at the chocolate cake because I know that's where all this started,
All because of a slice of cake I practically stole when I was little,
I watch my family with a smile on my face, I'm really lucky to have parents who care for me this much,
I'm lucky my mom loves me and treats me as if I'm her blood child,
I've never tried finding my blood mother because I don't care to, she clearly didn't want me and I'm happy with having Zara as my mother,
Because I'm my eyes she's more of a mother than my blood one ever could've been.
"Did you have fun at the fair today with your friends?" My mom comes up to me sitting next to me
I nod with a smile "umm Ryan asked me out on a date...Is that okay?"
Mom looks behind at dad who's feeding Romeo the cake trying to keep the cake off his face,
"I'm happy if you're happy sweetie, but let's save the news of a boy wanting to take you out until all the guests leave...I don't think your dad will handle it well, he might just burst into tears that he can't keep his daughter at six years old forever" she smiles as she talks in hushed tones
I laugh knowing dad will have an over dramatic reaction to just a date "okay thanks mom"
"You want some cake?" Mom smiles
I grin "always"
"DID I JUST HEAR THE WORD DATE? YOU DIDN'T SAY YES RIGHT?!" Dad's eyes widen behind my mom
"Crap" I whisper
