Year 2
"Lance?" A concerned Shiro asked, sliding next to the boy. "Are you doing alright?" He asked putting a hand on his shoulder, surprisingly Lance didn't shrug away, he just stared, one hand around a mug of hot chocolate.
After a moment of silence he spoke up. "It's been two years Shiro." he said, his voice breaking and fading off to a whisper. "Two years since... Since Pidge."
"I know." Shiro said quietly, giving his shoulder a small squeeze.
"I-." Lance went quiet before starting again. "I dont... I can't believe she's dead, Shiro." Lance turned to look at him. "I just know it, she..." His voice broke and silence took its place. "How did that galra have her bayard?" His grip tightened on the mug
Shiro remained silent, he knew that Lance didn't need him to respond, he just needed to talk. "How is this not affecting you?" Lance asked glaring at Shiro. "It's as if none of you guys actually cared about her!" He yelled his anger suddenly there, he burst out of his chair throwing his arm, the other paladins there looked shocked. Allura stood up glaring at him.
"We all loved Pidge." She said, her eyes filling with tears. "How could you say that?!" Her voice faded off as she tried to fight off the tears. "She was a family and we will never be whole without her." Allura was hastily swiping at the tears on her face, turning away from the others.
A cough brought all of their attention to the doorway where Coran was. "A galra ship just entered radar..."
Lance moved towards Coran "Perfect, I needed to blow off some steam." He said exiting the room. Shiro sighed looking up and making eye contact with a concerned Allura.
Alarms blared, startling Pidge awake, a string of curses flowed out of her mouth as she stumbled out of bed. Still cursing she threw open her door. "What the quiznak is happening?!" She exclaimed startling a passing by Galra, he turned facing her doing a quick salute. "Sorry Ma'am but it appears the Paladins are attacked." Pidge gestured for him to go, his weapon gripped tight in his hand as he continued onward. Pidge sighed, rubbing her forehead, she reached for a hair tie around her wrist, it now reached her shoulder blades so she'd need to get out of her face for the fight coming up. Then she tapped her halo watch three times letting the suit take over her body, except for the helmet. With her hair done in a high ponytail she reached for the bayard resting next to her bed.
Another blast shook the ship, a distraction most likely. The paladins would want to save the prisoners rather than just blow them up. It was rather heroic. Pidge shook her head, the paladins were her enemies, no matter what they did that impressed her, they were the enemy.
Pidge darted down the hall heading towards the cellblock. It would be where the paladins would show up to, eventually. Quickly putting in her earpiece she tapped into the galra's communications.
"-Ighter jets prepare for take off." Another blast rocked the ship causing her to stumble into the wall.
Hearing voices outside of the earpiece she slowed down pressing herself against the wall, holding her fingers against the watch, her helmet rose up circling her face. Gripping the bayard tightly The voices were getting closer, definitely weren't galra/
"The cellblock is down here?" A voice asked uncertainty.
"That's what I said Hunk." Another voice responded.
"I don't know, wouldn't it be guarded."
"I'm not sur-" The voices reached her, Pidge clenched her teeth as black and yellow stared at her.
"You look like a bumblebee." Pidge said without thinking, this startled the two.
"How do you?" Pidge didn't wait for yellow to finish, jabbing the black paladin in the neck watching him cough and gasp for breath.
"Sorry, the cellblock is under construction right now." She said wrapping a leg around Yellow's neck and spinning around his body using her weight to unbalance him, causing him to topple over into the Black paladin. "Come again later, maybe we'll have refreshments."
Pidge pointed the bayard at them. "Or not."
A blast shook the ship causing her to stumble and run into a body. She looked up into the glaring face of the blue paladin. His hands gripped her arm, she guessed it was an instinct to catch someone who fell into you.
"Why are you so grumpy?" She asked wincing as his grip tightened, to help her move better the armor of the suit had been reduced, making it easier for her to get hurt. She kneed upwards, hearing a squeak in response. Pulling herself away from the paladin and tripping over the yellow and black paladins tangle of bodies.
She stood up, blushing at her embarrassment. She of course would end up tripping over her enemies. "Would you do me a huge favor?" She asked, ignoring the weapons pointed at her. She could see confusion dawning on their faces. "Forget I tripped over you." She launched herself forward again, light on her feet as they attempted to shoot her. What shocked her was when the black paladin's hand seemed to glow purple. Before connecting with her.
She could feel her bones break from the punch shoving her backwards and into the wall. "That flipping hurt." She groaned, pushing herself back up to her feet. She definitely had some broken ribs.
She stumbled forward watching the black paladin looking at her before becoming confused. "What?" He asked, his voice muffled to her ringing ears. Words blurred in and out as she began to cough, oh great she most definitely had a rip piercing her lungs, she's bet money on it. " She's a human." Pidge looked upward on seeing them all staring at her.
How the heck did they figure that out? She took another step forward before her leg gave out. Dang the black paladin could throw a punch. She chuckled as the paladins moved closer to her hesitantly. If they wanted to kill her let them try, she wouldn't go down so easily.

Lance glared at the galra girl, once Shiro hit her she was down. He eyed the bayard, the familiar green... Why was it the same as it was with Pidge? Didn't the bayard's change with different users? Lance turned towards Shiro to share his concern when he noticed Shiro had his hand on his ear piece. "What?" Shiro asked, glancing at the girl.
"How did you figure that out?"
A moment of silence
"You're sure?"
Another moment of silence.
"That changed things."
Shiro put his hand down seeing the girl struggling to move towards them. He winced. He knew his punches could be intense, but didn't think it would hurt her this badly. Last time they fought she didn't seem phased by anything.
"Shiro, what is it?" Lance asked, annoyed. Hunk looked at him curiously but his main attention stayed on the girl making sure she wasn't going to do anything.
"We can't kill her." Shiro said, watching Lance gape at him.
"And why not?!"
Shiro looked at the girl. "She's a human."
Lance gaped at him and the girl stumbled forward, her legs giving out on her. "And how do we know that?"
"Keith found her medical records along with her position and suit."
Hunk slowly nodded. "That makes sense, the Galra would want to keep track of all their high ranks and well, foreigners I guess."
"I say we bring her in for questioning." Shiro said, stepping forward, his frown deeping as the girl laughed. What did the galra do to her?"
A crackle and snap were heard and a blur flicked infront of him. A girl stopped in front of the human, shaking her head at the others. They all froze before Lance pushed forward.
"You!" He growled. "I'll kill you!!" He charged forward the girl, easily dodging him, using her weight to push him away from the injured girl, smart. Before jabbing her whip into him, the crackle of electricity and burnt skin filled the air as Lance convulsed stumbling back towards his group.
"I'm not that easy to kill." She looked down at the injured girl, "Get out of here." She said turning away from the girl as she struggled to her feet, a galra soldier, Shiro had no idea where he came from, was by the human girl's side helping her to her feet and quickly guiding her out of the battle. Clearly the galra did not want them to have her.
"Keith, do you copy?" Shiro asked.
"Yeah." Keith answered.
"Did you get copies of those records?"
"Of course I did." Keith responded.
"Then get down here, the galra don't want us to take the human in, they're working pretty hard to get her out of here."
"Copy that."
Shiro looked forward to seeing both hunk and lance attempting to take down the whip girl, racking his brain he remembered she announced herself as Enyta. She was dodging early and tazing the paladins when she could.
Shiro knew if she wanted to, she could kill them. So why not? Why isn't she trying?
He froze. Crap, they were sending the human to an escape pod. Why didn't he think of it sooner. Feeling like an idiot, Shiro turned to run, only to freeze, his body freezing up unable to move.
"Shoot! She got Shiro!" Hunk yelled racing to Shiro's side.
"You get back here!" Lance yelled, anger filling his voice. "You coward!!"
"Lance, we have to get Shiro out of here." Hunk said turning towards the boy
"What happened?" Keith asked slowly down his run to a walk. He just turned the corner to see Shiro frozen and Lance cursing at a wall.
"Enyta was here." Hunk said, earning a confused look on Keith's face before realization dawned on him.
"Alright, you two get Shiro out of here. I'll get the prisoners."
Once everyone was back in the castle, Allura placed a herb in Shiro's mouth. "Kae said this should help with paralysis." She said watching Shiro just stand there. She turned towards the others. "Explain."
