"Love, hurry up we're going to be late!" Jennie whines at me, grabbing my arms trying to pull me up from bed.
"Jennie." I pull my arms back, "5 more minutes." I turn my back away from her.
"Excuse me? What did you call me?" Jennie's tone was dangerously low, and not in a good way.
Now...I can play this two ways, admit it was sleep me talking or stay quiet. Both will lead to my demise either way, but staying quiet is better.
"Say that again, Roseanne Park."
"Hmmmm." I groan, stretching my limbs, acting like I have no idea what she's talking about, "Good morning gorgeous." I try to keep my fear at bay, "You're up early."
"Don't play dumb. You know what you called me." Jennie's arms were folded across her chest, a perfectly shaped eyebrow raised.
"What'd I say I just woke up?" I looked at her with a puppy dog face.
"Stop doing that." Jennie smacks my shoulder lightly.
"What?" I chuckle, successfully appeasing her anger.
"That..."
"YAH ROSEANNE PARK CHAEYOUNG WAKE UP!" Rosie stumbles out of bed, her perfectly good dream ruined by none other than the devil incarnate herself, her childhood best friend and fiance, Jennie Kim.
"What happened?" Rosie looks at Jennie while trying to get her bearings.
"Nothing, just wanted to annoy you." Jennie sticks her tongue out at the blonde girl on the floor who fights the urge to strangle the brunette for waking her up at 7am on their day-off.
"Why in Kuma and Hank's name are you even up at this undogly hour?" Rosie groans, climbing back into bed and under the covers.
"Because we have brunch with our parents today."
"Okay brunch is at 11...we still have plenty of...JENNIE!" She whine, when Jennie pulled the duvet off her body.
"It's 7am, brunch is at 11..which means we need to be out of this house by 10, so we can arrive at least 15 minutes early..now you either get out of that bed and join me for morning tea..."
"Wait." Rosie interrupts, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "What?" Jennie stands there looking tired of this conversation, "Instead of tea why don't I join you in the sho.. Ow ow ow." The girl tries to protect herself from Jennie's hands, "Stop being so perverted in the morning. Just get up...jeez." Jennie leaves in a huff, face red..mostly from anger.
"Good morning to you too, Love." Rosie whispers to herself, deciding to just go with whatever Jennie wants. After all, a happy (almost) wife is a happy life..right?
Now, you may be wondering..how the hell are these two an engaged couple? Well to put it simply it was arranged since birth by the Kims and Parks that when Rosie turns 23 the two would marry and their company would merge as one. Of course, the two girls were vehemently against it..trying every scheme and idea in the book to cancel..but the families were unmoving. So now...we're here, with the two planning their upcoming wedding set a month after Rosie's 23rd birthday.
"Ah there's our girls." Mr. Park smiles as Rosie and Jennie sit down next to each other at the table.
"How's living together? Are you both adjusting well?" Mrs. Kim asks, looking at her daughter and then at Rosie.
"It's fine." The two answer together.
"Girls." Mr. Kim looks at the two, "We know we asked something unreasonable of you two and it wasn't an easy decision for either of you to make.." He pauses, looking around the room, "But this is for your future.."
"But this isn't the future we want dad." Jennie interrupts, "Rosie and I, we both don't want this..right?" Jennie looks at the blonde who blinks a few times before nodding, "Right."
"Jennie.." Mrs. Kim looks at her daughter with soft eyes, "It's been months since you and ..."
"I'm sorry for interrupting." Rosie stands, taking Jennie's hand and lifting her up, "But, if we are just going to sit here today, discussing a wedding that only the 4 of you want, then go right ahead..you make all the decisions and we'll play your puppets. But please, don't act like we're both excited about this. Now, if we may be excused..I forgot I had something to do at the office." Rosie drags Jennie away, before their parents could get another word out.
"Rosie...hey..Rosie." Jennie pulls Rosie's hands, causing the blonde girl to stop in her tracks, "What?" Rosie looks at Jennie taking deep breaths.
"Are you okay?"
"Fine..let's just." Rosie takes a moment to re-compose herself, "Let's just go somewhere else for brunch, maybe we can invite Lisa and Jisoo."
"Alright." Jennie nods, letting Rosie lead her back to the car, "Thanks." Jennie says when the two settle inside the vehicle.
"For?"
"Don't make me say it out loud." Jennie rolls her eyes.
"I didn't do anything Jen. There's nothing to thank me for. Let's just... be us okay? Just good ol'pals Rosie and Jennie. Not whoever this engaged couple we pretend to be."
"Alright." Jennie shuts up, not wanting to bring up the topic anymore.
But still...Thank you Rosie. Jennie smiles towards her best friend.

"Okay...Imma just steal my buddy here okay Jenjen?" Lisa has an arm over Rosie's shoulders as soon as she spots the two entering the restaurant, "Don't call me that Manoban." Jennie rolls her eyes.
"Alright you two..just do what you must, c'mon Jen let's get the food ordered. Be quick." Jisoo looks at Lisa who nods. When the two were out of sight, Jisoo finally took a good look at Jennie, "You don't have to tell me, but something happened at brunch right?"
"Nothing much, just the same old same old." Jennie sighs, almost deflating in her chair, "Except mom just had to rub it in my face that..."
"Don't even go there Jen..you so deserve better than that.."
"It's whatever Chu...I'm over it."
"No you're not." Jisoo deadpans, "You're still stuck in the same place you left her."
"And? Is that so wrong?"
"No, but we all know she wasn't the one for you."
"And who is? Rosie?"
"I don't know, is she even in the running?"
"Rosie and I are just friends. We've known each other since we were kids, if anything it almost feels like I'm being arranged to marry my sister or something."
"So she's not in the running, even though she's currently winning the race?"
"Jisoo, you know how Rosie is."
"Sweet? Kind? Intelligent? Romantic? Gorgeous? Hot? Tell me if I'm missing an adjective."
"Yeah you are."
"What? Perfect?"
"Nope, player. Rosie's a total playgirl Chu...in the years we've known her, how many people has she dated? Remember in high school when she and Lis..."
"Don't even remind me of that." Jisoo interrupts not wanting to hear about her girlfriend's past, "I mean okay yes, Rosie has player tendencies, but not with you though."
"Well duh Chu we're friends."
"I know, but..ugh how do I explain this.." Jisoo groans.
Meanwhile, outside Lisa and Rosie were having the same conversation as the two.
"Why don't you just tell Jen how you feel?"
"Feel? What do you mean?" Rosie asks, acting ignorant.
"Don't act dumb Roseanne. You seriously don't realise that you've been falling for your fiance? Actually no, it's not even falling..it's fallen. Past tense because we both know just how long you've been loving her." Lisa looks at the blonde girl, determined, "You just need to tell her."
"No way..I can't..Jen deserves better than someone like me who's a player...or something."
"But you aren't a player though."
"Her and Chu literally..."
"I meant with Jen."
"Huh?"
"With her your Rosie..the softy..not Roseanne the player."
"What?"
"I don't know how to explain it.."

"She cares for you Jen..that's the simplest way I can explain it. With you, Rosie is genuine..no hidden intentions.."

"It's like with Jen...you don't have any other intentions..her well-being, happiness..all of that is the intention of your words or actions..of course you guys banter and tease, but at the end of the day you always just..."

"She shows her best self only to you."
"You only show your best self with her."

"Jeez you guys took forever, the food's getting cold." Jisoo grumbles while Lisa and Rosie sit down at the table, "I'm sorry, we lost track of time." Rosie apologises.
"It's fine Rosie, let's just eat?"
"Sure sure." Rosie nods, watching Jennie carefully.
"You're staring." Jennie states, feeling Rosie's gaze on her since they started eating.
"I'm not." Rosie peels her gaze away, "I was just staring outside, it's such a nice day today." She smiles.
"Right, okay." Jennie shakes her head, "What girl caught your eye this time?"
"What?"
"C'mon Roseanne, I'm not stupid, you never complement the weather."
"There could be a first for things right?"
"Just go."
"Go where?"
"To whoever caught your eye."
"There isn't anyone, really!" Rosie puts her hand up in defeat.
"You've never been a good liar Rosie, you were staring at something lovingly."
"Lovingly huh." Rosie smirks, "And how would you know that Jen, unless you were eyeing me as well?" The blonde teases, "You are such a..."
"Jennie." Rosie catches Jennie's arm as the girl was about to slap her shoulders, "That wasn't my loving stare." Rosie says seriously, "If I ever have that look on my face, trust me, you'll know." She lets go of Jennie's arm slowly, giving her best friend a soft smile, "Now, can we finish our meal please?"
"Right.." Jennie clears her throat.
"Did they forget we're here or?" Lisa whispers to Jisoo, "Shh...free entertainment." Jisoo shushes the taller girl.

-1 week before the wedding-
"Hey, you good?" Rosie asks, taking the empty spot next to Jennie out on the terrace.
"Yeah..I was just..thinking." Jennie replies softly.
"About?"
"Things..."
"Is it the wedding?"
"I never told anyone this, but I wanted her to be the one." Jennie admits, "I really did."
"I know."
"How?"
"I'm your best friend and I may not seem like it, but I'm more attuned to you than you think."
"That's cheesy Rosie." Jennie laughs, "But then again this cheesy persona of yours is a key trait."
"Why thank you." Rosie chuckles, "But seriously Jen, can I ask."
"Hmm?"
"Why did you end things with her?"
"Because her happiness meant more to me than anything else in this world."
"That's stupid, you shouldn't put anyone else's happines above yours. Your happiness matters too."
"I know."
"Do you know what the foundation of a long lasting relationship is?" Rosie asks.
"Love?"
"No, it's trust and communication. Love..it can only take you so far. I know that it may seem hard to believe but I did care about the people I dated, but I learned that caring for them isn't enough..it's like there was always a wall that separated me from them..that's why they never last." The blonde girl admits out loud for the first time.
"Do you think we'll last then?" Jennie questions.
"Statistically speaking, arranged marriages tend to last."
"Oh? Where'd you read that from?"
"Somewhere." Rosie smiles with a glint in her eye and an expression that after all this time Jennie still can't read.
"Rosie." Jennie calls out after a few moments of the two just sitting together peacefully.
"Hmm?"
"I..." Jennie stares into Rosie's eyes, looking for something inside those onyx eyes. As to what that something is, Jennie herself isn't sure.
"We'll figure it out Jen, after all," The blonde pauses, "We've got a lifetime together ahead of us." She smiles.
And in that moment, under the full moon, Jennie saw it, Rosie's loving stare.
