Sino-Japanese military clash off Senkaku Islands

A military clash that took place off the Senkaku Islands in January 2019. It was triggered by an attack on the Japan Coast Guard by armed Chinese ships and their landing on the Senkaku Islands, and later developed into a battle between the People's Liberation Army Navy and the Maritime Self-Defense Force. After the US Forces Japan entered the battle, the PLAN immediately retreated, and it is said that it was a kind of performance by the Chinese Communist Party to suppress the discontent and distrust of the Chinese people, which was amplified by the stalling economy, or that it was the sole decision of the Nanjing Military Region. However, Japan could not ignore the damage by the ship-to-surface missile attack on some of the inhabited islands in the Nansei Islands, resulting in civilian casualties, and public opinion in Japan rapidly shifted to the right.

East Asia War

In December 2019, the Chinese Civil War broke out, triggered by the revolt of the Shenyang Military Region, which was not satisfied with the outcome of the military clash between Japan and China off the Senkaku Islands. In November 2022, the New People's Democratic Republic of China (commonly known as New China, the military government of the PLA that rebelled against the Chinese government), which took Beijing from the People's Republic of China, was established, and along with its ally North Korea, declared war on neighboring countries (Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea). It was later called World War III.

After Beijing was taken, the CCP fled to Chengdu and Tibet, where they established the Chengdu Provisional Central Government. They resisted using nuclear warheads stored in Tibet as a deterrence.

At the end of the war, India, Russia, and Mongolia entered the war against the New China, and the New China surrendered in January 2024. The East Asia War ended with North Korea's surrender in March 2024. The defeat led to the collapse of the New People's Democratic Republic of China and the return of the CCP to power. In exchange for reconstruction aid, the CCP agreed to the demands of the victorious nations, including the downsizing of the People's Liberation Army, the stationing of a multinational force, and international joint control of its nuclear weapons.

Japanese Constitution, Self-Defense Forces

In the wake of the Sino-Japanese military clash off the Senkaku Islands in January 2019 and the Chinese Civil War that broke out in December 2019, Article 9, Section 2 of the Constitution was amended.

As a result, the raison d'etre of the SDF was changed, and it was officially established as Japan's "military". As for the name of the SDF, since many people in Japan are attached to the name "SDF," the name "SDF/Japanese Armed Forces" is usually used in combination in official situations in Japan. The English translation is "Japan Armed Forces". It is also common to use the old and new rank styles in the same sentences.

Shimabara-class amphibious assault ship

Plans for the project were raised by a 2014 visit to Makin Island and other events, and groundbreaking in 2019. The construction period was accelerated due to the Sino-Japanese conflict and the outbreak of the East Asia War, and the first ship, Shimabara, will be deployed in December 2021. Later, in 2022 and 2023, the second ship Oga and the third ship Kojima were commissioned, respectively. It was built for the purpose of recapturing remote islands in Japan, but in the East Asia War, it was engaged not only in transporting troops to remote islands in Japan, but also in deploying and landing troops in China and the Korean Peninsula.

Izumikawa Cabinet

The Izumikawa Cabinet, formed after the East Asia War by Kojiro Izumikawa, the second youngest Prime Minister in history, has been called a cabinet in which the Prime Minister is supported by the Cabinet members, rather than the Prime Minister leading the Cabinet members. After the war in Altia, the cabinet has a high approval rating among the Japanese people, but some factions deride it as a "militarist cabinet" or a "warlord cabinet".

Domestic media, political parties

In January 2019, China actually took military action against Japan, and the innovative domestic media, political parties, and civic groups that had been promoting the Chinese threat as a fiction lost their appeal with the public. From 2019 onward, conservative and right-wing media and political parties will gain overwhelming support from the public.

United States Forces Japan

After the end of the East Asia War, the United States and other victorious countries obtained the right to station troops on the Chinese mainland in exchange for reconstruction assistance, and many American troops in Japan moved to China after the war to engage in security operations and reconstruction projects in China, where the scars of the war remain deep. By the time the story begins, the size of the remaining USFJ has been reduced to about one-half of what it is today, and some US military facilities are almost empty of personnel.

Japanese trading bases owned overseas

In some friendly countries, as well as in the 'outer territories' that Japan acquired after the transference, trading ports have been built by the Japanese government for use by Japanese-flag vessels. Some of the bases are manned by Maritime Self-Defense Force escort units dispatched from Japan, and they also serve as military ports to maintain security in the surrounding sea areas. The bases are numbered in order of their construction.

- Watanami Garrison/Base Zero

- Susa Trading Base, Ilamania Kingdom/Base One

- Japanese trading port in Rovania Kingdom/Base Two

- Zion Naval Base, Seiren Kingdom/Base Three

- Makuteru (McTayle) General Military Base/Base Four

- Japanese trading base in Tomino Kingdom/Base Five

Seven Dragons

Countries that have appeared up to the present day

1. Altian Empire → Japan

2. Shorteria-San Empire

3. Crossnellyard Empire

4. Holy Rovance Papal State

5. ???

6. Israfail Empire

7. "The Kingdom in the West"

Magic Power

In this world, only those who are called mages can actually use magic by themselves through chanting, etc., but the magic itself resides in the body of every human being. Magical tools are catalysts for non-mages to use the magic power that resides in their bodies. However, Japanese who do not possess any magical power themselves need assistance from other people with magical power in order to use magical tools.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Faith Shell
A magical tool for using 'remote telecommunication magic'. By chanting a code on each shell, a voice emitted into the shell can be carried by the owner's magical power and sent to a specific faith shell owned by another person. This enables information to be transmitted at the same speed as during the World War II in this world based on a medieval-early modern view of the world. If a Japanese person who has no magical power uses this system, he or she can hear the voice sent from another person who has magical power, but he or she cannot send a message, so it is impossible to establish a conversation. If a Japanese person uses the shell, as mentioned before, they have to ask a resident of this world who has magic power to hold the shell and borrow his or her magic power to talk with the shell.
The distance that can be communicated depends on the type of the shell, and the long-distance shells that can communicate across oceans are few in number and expensive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sea Monster

A generic name for large marine organisms that inhabit the oceans of extremely cold regions such as the Arctic or Antarctic. They do not like people, and if they were to be encountered at sea, the ships of this world would have no chance of surviving. Although various forms and species have been identified, many aspects of their ecology are still unknown, and they are an object of awe and fear for many people.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sailing Ships
Sailing ships in this world always have a mage called "Wind Master" on board to assist in the ship's navigation. In case of emergency, wind can be generated as long as the wind master's magic power lasts, and the speed of the sailing ship can be greatly increased.
Unit
It is a world where there are no barriers to spoken language, but the units of measurement for things are different from those in our world.
- League: Different from the league in our world. It is about 0,7 km.
- Rube: 1/1000th of a league. 70-80 cm.
- Yagal: About 1,05 tons.
- Magal: 1/1000th of a yagal. 1,05 kg.
