Similarly to what Annabelle had been doing from the moment the bridges were blown up, Annabelle was once again out in the streets of Gotham trying to do everything she could to search for Victor Zsasz, while also tearing into the necks of just about anyone she saw.

It hadn't been long since she left Edward Nygma by himself and chose to get back to searching for Victor.

Even though Edward was a friend of hers, her dire need to find Victor Zsasz trumped her wish to help Edward with his inability to remember anything he did after he fell asleep.

It was that reason alone that Annabelle was once more in one of her alleyways after the fight she had with Edward about her wish to leave him and continue her search for Victor Zsasz.

Although said fight involved Edward not only pulling a gun on her but also threatening to shoot her with it if she left him to unravel his mystery by himself, Annabelle held no grudge against him and just left, leaving the troubled friend of hers by himself.

At this point in time, she no longer cared about Edward and his current dilemma.

The only thing that mattered to her was finding Victor Zsasz and making sure he wasn't injured or nearly killed during their time of being apart from each other.

After watching her current victim's head separate from the rest of his body, she was just about to get back to looking for Victor, only to stop when Nico appeared in front of her and said to her, "Annabelle, I've been looking for you."

Annabelle's eyebrows furrowed as she eyed Nico before she asked him, "Nico? What are you still doing here? I thought you would have left as soon as the bridges were blown up."

Nico replied, "No. What kind of a friend would I be if I left you here all by yourself with no way of finding your boyfriend?"

Annabelle's eyes widened as a small smile made its way onto her face before she asked him, "Have you seen him? Is he okay? He's not hurt, is he?"

Nico told her, "Calm down, Annabelle. Victor's safe. I just came looking for you because I found him with your brother." Annabelle's smile slowly started to widen, only for it to falter when he said to her, "But there's the other piece of information I need to tell you about. He's also having a stand-off with Oswald Cobblepot and the GCPD."

Annabelle asked him, "Where is he?"

He sighed as he said to her, "Now, Annabelle, there's something you need to understand. Victor is—"

Annabelle replied, "I don't care what Victor's done for the past three months. What matters is that I find him before James bloody Gordon and his band of imbeciles do something that could seriously hurt him. Now, where is he?"

After seeing Annabelle's veins come onto display, Nico sighed to himself before he said to her, "Just follow me. If luck is on our side, we should get there before the GCPD manage to arrest him."

Annabelle only nodded her head before she followed Nico as soon as he sped out of the alleyway.

With a sigh and a blank look on his face, Klaus watched as Victor shot at the cops once more before he said, "I did not make that building go boom, Jim."

Oswald scoffed as he yelled, "Oh, please! You gave up any shred of honor long ago!" While Victor faked a gasp and placed a hand against his own chest, Oswald yelled, "Why should we believe a snake like you?!"

Victor silently scoffed to himself before he said, "Because I would never take credit for somebody else's work."

Oswald replied, "Oh, no, you'd just betray anyone and everyone for the right price!"

Victor retorted, "That's funny, because last I checked, I haven't betrayed everyone. I only betrayed you. I've never betrayed Annabelle— or even Falcone for that matter— so I think it's safe to say that I wouldn't betray everyone."

Oswald scoffed once more before he said to Victor, "That's funny. Because last I checked, Annabelle got sent right back to Arkham because you decided to betray her and help Sofia with keeping the both of us locked away!"

Just as Victor started to narrow his eyes and think of actually shooting Oswald in the head, he suddenly stopped when he realized that Oswald had just mentioned Sofia.

While he tilted his head, Victor asked, "Is this about Sofia Falcone? Because you should really move past that. It's not healthy."

Before Oswald had the chance to respond, Victor raised his gun again and shot over towards Oswald, only for Oswald to quickly duck down and look behind himself to see a bullet hole in the wall directly behind him.

While Victor only smirked to himself as he stared at Oswald, whose veins on the side of his head were visible at that moment, James turned to Oswald and said to him, "Oswald, concentrate. Do you and your men have enough ammo to keep Zsasz pinned down for a couple minutes?"

Oswald replied, "For you, Jim, let's say... two and a half."

While Oswald repeatedly waved his hand, James said, "Concentrate all your fire on that window up there. Give me everything you got, then abruptly cease fire."

Oswald told him, "You can count on me." Then he turned to one of his own men and said, "Spread the word."

Just as James turned his head to look back at Victor, Victor asked Klaus, "Did you hear everything they were saying?"

Klaus sighed as he replied, "I sure did. Based on my calculation, you probably don't have long until Jim Gordon comes up here and takes you in."

As Victor eyed the men that were moving around to new positions, he said, "I can take it." After he glanced back at Klaus, he asked, "Do you remember what I need you to do?"

Klaus only blinked at Victor before he said, "Victor, it hasn't even been two hours since you told me what you needed me to do. Of course I remember."

Victor chuckled as he replied, "I was just asking. There's no need for you to be so angry about it."

Instead of choosing to verbally respond, Klaus simply chose to scoff, while James said, "Alright. Ready?"

As he stared down at his watch, Oswald replied, "Yeah."

James yelled, "Now!"

It was then that the members of the GCPD and Oswald's men started to shoot over at the window, while Oswald yelled, "Fire!"

Victor moved aside and pressed his back against the wall, while the men and women continued to shoot towards the window.

Klaus, however, only blinked as more and more bullet holes covered bits and pieces of the walls.

It wasn't until he heard approaching footsteps that Klaus said, "He's coming up here, you know."

While he held his gun out in front of himself and waited for his chance to shoot back at them, Victor replied, "Oh, I'm counting on it."

Klaus sighed as he muttered to himself, "Of course he is."

While he continued to stare at his watch, Oswald yelled, "Keep it coming!"

Then he also stood up and started to shoot at the window as well.

While Klaus started to wonder how Annabelle managed to live in the city for fourteen years without ripping off the heads of Victor Zsasz or any of the others he encountered during his time in Gotham, Victor picked up a styrofoam cup and started to drink from it.

It wasn't long after he put the cup back down that a beeping was heard and Oswald yelled, "Cease fire! Cease fire! Cease fire!"

Victor decided to take that moment to step out in front of the window and try to shoot at them again, only to stop when he heard a yell and turned his head just in time to see James throwing himself at him and got the both of them to land on top of a wooden table.

While Klaus tilted his head and eyed the two of them, James punched Victor in the face before he put a handcuff around one of Victor's wrists and said to him, "Glad to see you're still with us."

When James looked away from him, Victor looked over at Klaus and nodded his head at Annabelle's half-brother before he looked back at James, just as James pulled him up onto his feet.

As James started to lead Victor down the stairs and over towards the main door to the building, Klaus leapt onto the roof of a nearby building, while both cops and Oswald's men gathered for the mere sight of James leading Victor Zsasz out of the building.

Just as Klaus was about to leave, he suddenly stopped when he heard the mere sound of heels clicking and quickly looked over at a rooftop farthest from where he stood to see Annabelle standing beside Nico Angelos with a frown on her face.

Klaus was about to make his way over to her and give her everything Victor told him to, only to stop when he heard applause and looked down to see Victor smirk to himself, while James led him through the crowd of cops and the men that Oswald had working for him.

As Victor was led towards a cop car, he said, "Thank you. Thank you. You were great. Glad there's no hard feelings."

Harvey told him, "Day's not over yet. Come on."

While Oswald limped over to James and started to congratulate him, Victor looked around the roofs of nearby buildings in an attempt to see if Annabelle was lingering nearby, only to stop when he saw Annabelle staring down at him with a smile on her face.

Victor only smirked as he stared at her and watched, while she jumped off of the roof of the building and landed right behind one of the cop cars.

Even when Nico grabbed her arm and kept her from killing the cops and taking Victor with her, his smirk still remained.

Even after being roughly shoved into the back of a cop car, his smirk still remained on his face and he continued to stare at her before he mouthed 'I love you' to her.

And even though he couldn't see it, she mouthed 'I love you too'.

After spending almost three months trying to find each other, Annabelle and Victor couldn't be any happier, now that they found each other and saw that neither of them were hurt during their time apart.

* * *

Ever since Klaus approached Annabelle and told her almost everything Victor needed him to, the only major thing to happen was Annabelle repeatedly punching Klaus in the face.

To Annabelle, it didn't quite matter just how many times she punched him.

All that mattered was that Klaus was there with Victor before James Gordon had handcuffed him.

In her opinion, Klaus could've done something to prevent James from arresting Victor.

It was that reason alone that really pissed her off and it was because of her anger that she nearly snapped his neck and actually considered shoving a wooden stake into his heart.

She didn't care how angry Klaus would've been with her because of it.

All that mattered was that he was there and simply chose to not help Victor when he needed it the most.

Just as she was about to attempt to snap Klaus's neck once more, Nico quickly grabbed her arms and held them behind her back, which only got Annabelle to quickly turn around and attempt to snap Nico's neck.

Unfortunately for Annabelle, her arms were grabbed once more and just as she was about to fight against Klaus's grip, she suddenly stopped when Klaus told her, "There's still one more thing that Victor wanted me to tell you."

She scoffed as she asked him, "Oh, yeah? And what's that? A warning of just how selfish you are? Because believe me, I—"

He sighed before he told her, "No, Annabelle. He wants you to remember the one phrase the two of you had made, if either of you were to ever get in trouble."

It was only when Klaus said those exact words that Annabelle immediately stilled.

Prior to when she used the very same phrase before Theo Galavan was killed for the first time, Victor only ever mentioned this exact phrase a couple of months after he and Annabelle had originally created it.

She knew damn well that if Victor had used it that he had a feeling that something bad would happen and he would need Annabelle's help.

It was because of this realization that she quickly shoved her elbow into Klaus's chest and forced her way out of his grip before she asked, "What do you think my chances are that Victor would still be at the GCPD precinct by the time I get there?"

Nico sighed as he told her, "Well, due to just how pissed off Oswald is with him, the chances probably aren't that good."

She nodded her head to herself before she immediately sped away from them, without so much as a single warning.

As soon as she was gone, both Klaus and Nico shared a look before they quickly went after her.

After everything that had occurred ever since James Gordon arrived in Gotham City four years ago, Victor Zsasz wasn't the least bit surprised when he was not only grabbed and practically thrown from the back of the cop car and almost landed on the ground, but also was practically thrown once more into the interrogation room.

Although he had never been inside of the interrogation room before, he wasn't all that surprised when he found that nothing appeared to have changed in the room.

According to Annabelle, the interrogation room was dull and had no decorations whatsoever on the walls of the room.

Oddly enough, he was kind of relieved to find that what she said about the inside of the interrogation room was true.

Although he never initially planned on being arrested and then thrown into the interrogation room, he wasn't the least bit surprised that it was James Gordon that got him inside of the small and slightly cramped room.

While he eyed the dull and bare walls of the room, he couldn't help but notice four letters and a plus sign carved onto the table.

As soon as he brought his full attention to the table, he realized what was actually carved onto the table.

From what he saw on the table, it had 'AM + VZ' carved onto it.

He couldn't help but chuckle to himself when he realized that Annabelle had to have carved it on the table herself when she was arrested for the murder of Theo Galavan before she was sent off to Arkham for the first time.

Just as he was about to trace the carving with his fingers, he suddenly stopped when the door to the interrogation room was suddenly opened and his head was slammed onto the table.

Without even bothering to groan, Victor said, "Ow." After a couple seconds of silence, he said, "This is a really nice table."

With Victor's head still held down onto the table, Harvey told him, "We got a dozen witnesses that saw you walk out of that building before it went kabooey."

Victor replied, "Yeah. I heard some gangs had taken over. Figured with you guys occupied, I might help myself to some of your supplies. Hey, do you guys have any canned peaches? I'd trade an arm and leg for that right now. Not mine, somebody else's."

It was then that both James and Harvey quickly pulled his head off of the table before James asked him, "If you're innocent, why shoot up a city block full of cops?"

Victor said to him, "Because it was full of cops, who were also trying to shoot me. And, guys, those were warning shots. I mean, if I really wanted to kill you, you'd be dead."

While he looked at James, Harvey asked, "You got a pen? I want to write this guy a thank-you letter."

Victor told them, "Do the math. If I blew up a building full of people, I would have covered every inch of my body in sweet, sweet scars. You guys want to do a strip search?"

It was then that a knock on the door was heard before the door opened and revealed Alvarez, who said, "Got Lucius on the horn for you, Cap."

James nodded his head before he told Harvey, "Stay on him."

Harvey nodded his head, while Victor said as James closed the door after himself, "I'd let Alvarez do it. He's handsome."

Harvey forced a chuckle before he hit his hand on the table and asked, "So, who helped you with it, huh?" When Victor only chuckled in response, Harvey asked him, "Was it Annabelle? Did she help you with blowing up the building?"

Victor sighed as he said, "Hate to break it to you, Bullock, but it wasn't either of us."

Harvey snorted before he said, "Is that right?" When Victor nodded his head, Harvey asked him, "And why is that? You and I both know that Annabelle would have no issues with killing a bunch of people. So why exactly would she not help you with it?"

Victor sighed once more before he said, "Bullock, Bullock, Bullock. Tell me something. Did the explosion affect your hearing, or are you really just that stupid?" Just as Harvey started to point his finger in Victor's face, Victor told him, "Neither of us did it, and you know how I know? It's because the only time I've seen Annabelle ever since the bridges got blown up was right before I was shoved into the back of that car and taken here. Believe it or not, but other than wanting to survive and just killing anyone that came anywhere near me, I wanted to find Annabelle. How's that for an answer?"

Just as Harvey was about to respond, he suddenly stopped when one of the cops in the precinct opened the door and said to him, "Bullock, the Penguin's here."

With a sigh, Harvey quickly left the interrogation room and asked as he walked up to where James and Oswald were standing, "What the hell's going on?"

James told him, "Harvey, according to Lucius, Zsasz couldn't have done it."

As soon as Oswald sighed, James and Harvey looked over at him when he said, "I did not expect you to go soft, Jim." After he chuckled to himself, he said, "Actually, I did. Which is why I didn't come alone."

The moment Oswald whistled, several men walked into the precinct and pointed their guns at each of the cops that were still standing around inside of the precinct.

It was only when a couple of men were standing on either side of Oswald that he turned to one of the men and said to him, "Bring me Victor Zsasz."

As he took a step towards Oswald, James said to him, "Torturing..." He stopped himself when a couple of men quickly pointed their guns at him before he told Oswald, "Torturing Zsasz into confessing won't give the people justice."

Then Oswald said, "As misguided as he is, my old friend Jim is correct in this instance. Despite our enflamed passions, we cannot rush to judgment. There will be a trial." While Oswald's men said 'yeah', Oswald said, "And we will let the people decide."

After the men yelled 'yeah', Victor said as he was led right past James, "Good to know who's really in charge here, Jim."

While James only sighed in response, Oswald smirked at him.

It wasn't long afterwards that Oswald and his men left the precinct and left James and the members of the GCPD with no leads as to who was behind the bombing of Safe Haven.

The moment Oswald and the rest of his men were outside of the precinct and heading towards their own vehicles, they were suddenly stopped when almost all of Oswald's men were tossed aside.

Oswald quickly pulled out his gun and pointed it at the perpetrator, only to stop when he saw Annabelle staring up at him with her veins on display and a scowl on her face before he said, "Annabelle?"

Annabelle only plastered a grin on her face as she said to him, "Hello, Oswald, I'd say it's been a good while since we last saw one another. Wouldn't you agree?"

He nodded his head as he replied, "Yes, I'd say it has been a long while." After he watched Annabelle slowly tilt her head as she eyed him, he asked her, "What brings you here? From what I hear, you've been spending these past couple of months looking for Zsasz. I'm sorry to tell you, but he isn't here."

She forced a chuckle as she said to him, "You know, it's funny, Oswald. Now that you mention it, I was on my way here to break Victor out of the precinct. But you know what I found instead? I found some men— that I heard you hired to work for you recently— sitting in the front of a car and saw Victor sitting in the back of the car with a blindfold on his face and duct tape covering his mouth. Do you care to explain that?"

Oswald told her, "It's for our very own good, Annabelle. I mean, after how he betrayed the both of us and helped Sofia with sending us back to Arkham, do you mean to tell me that you don't want to make him pay for doing that?"

She forced another chuckle as she asked him, "Have you forgotten, Oswald? I've already forgiven him for that." Just as Oswald was about to argue with her, he suddenly stopped when she told him, "And believe it or not, but the only person he betrayed was you. He never betrayed me, so listen closely, my friend."

After taking a step closer to him, her grin fell as she told him, "Friend or not, if Victor is either harmed or killed while in your custody, I will kill you, Oswald."

As he raised a finger, he started to say to her, "But—"

Annabelle replied, "But nothing, Oswald. Either you release him, or you make sure he isn't harmed or killed whatsoever. Do you understand me?"

With a sigh, Oswald only nodded his head.

Without waiting to say another word, Annabelle quickly sped away from Oswald and left him by himself as he tried to think over Annabelle and her threat.

* * *

The second the doors were opened and Victor Zsasz was brought into the room,  a man in the crowd said, "There he is."

Victor simply did nothing but eye the crowd, while he was brought towards a chair and forced to sit on it.

While several survivors of the bombing yelled all kinds of things at Victor, Harvey Bullock said to James Gordon, "I got no love for Zsasz, but are we really gonna let this happen?"

As he gestured towards the survivors, James said before they started to make their way down the stairs, "Look at them, Harvey. If we try to stop it, they'll turn that anger against us."

Harvey replied, "We've got to do something."

James asked him, "Yeah? Like what? I make another speech? Maybe this is what the people need."

Harvey replied, "Okay, but what about Annabelle? You and I both know just how protective she is of him. How do you think she'll react when she finds out that we just let Penguin kill Zsasz?"

Just when James was about to respond, Oswald limped towards his desk and grabbed a gavel before he repeatedly hit it against his desk as he yelled, "Order in the court!"

It was then that Victor asked, "So, um, will I be appointed a lawyer? I feel like my rights are being violated."

Oswald retorted, "Not your right to remain silent. Bailiff."

After Oswald nodded his head, the man standing behind Victor unrolled a long strip of duct tape, while Victor quietly said, "No, no, no, no, no..."

Once Victor was silenced, Oswald limped over to the witness to the bombing as he asked, "And where exactly did you see the defendant minutes before the explosion?"

The male witness told him, "Coming out of the building."

Oswald asked him, "The very building that mere moments later was engulfed in flames that would claim so many beloved souls?"

While the crowd either started to cry or say how terrible Victor was being for his apparent crime, Victor only rolled his eyes to himself.

After Oswald looked back at the witness, the witness nodded his head, which got Oswald to scoff before he asked, "Are there any other witnesses who can back up this man's claim? Oh."

It was then that several people in the crowd raised their hands, which got Oswald to lightly chuckle to himself before he said, "Captain Gordon would have this court believe that all of you fine citizens are mistaken." While the crowd started to yell at James, Oswald told them, "He claims that Mr. Zsasz is not responsible for the bombing."

After Oswald went back to standing near the witness, Oswald said with a wave of his hand, "Captain Gordon, if you would like to say something, now is the time."

After a mere couple moments of silence and sharing a look with Harvey, James told them, "It wasn't a bomb. It wasn't a bomb." After Oswald repeatedly said 'shh', James said as he slowly walked towards Oswald, "A rocket-propelled grenade, fired from a rooftop. If Zsasz was on the ground, as your witnesses claim, he couldn't have done it."

Once James turned his back on Oswald, he said to the crowd, "I know you all want justice. So do I. You're angry. You're scared. For months now, you've been hearing me say help is coming. Truth is, we may be on our own. And if that's true, what we do now is more important than ever. This... This is not justice. This is not justice. It's not who we are."

After he quickly limped towards James, Oswald quietly said to him, "I'll consider that your closing argument." Then he turned to the crowd and loudly said to them, "Now that the defense has rested, let's put it to the crowd. What say you, jury?"

After a couple seconds of silence, the crowd started to yell 'guilty' before they also started to chant that very same word.

While the men behind Victor pulled him out of the chair and out of the room, James took a couple of steps towards Oswald and quietly told him, "If I were you, I would be very careful with what you do next."

With a scoff, Oswald turned to James and asked him, "Oh, yeah? And why's that?"

While he nodded his head over towards another part of the room, James told him, "Because right at the top of those stairs, I can see Annabelle staring right at you and shaking way more than she's ever done over the past four years."

Oswald's eyes widened before he quickly looked over at where James had told him to look and saw Annabelle staring at him with her veins on display as she heavily shook and her hands were clenched into fists.

* * *

Once more, Victor Zsasz was brought into the room with the same two men standing on either side of him.

And just like she was doing when both James and Oswald had spotted her, Annabelle was still shaking and was even more pissed off when she saw that the two men were leading Victor over towards the guillotine.

Once Victor was on his knees and his head in place on the guillotine with a basket in front of him, Oswald repeatedly hit his gavel on the desk once more before he said, "By the power vested in me by... well, me, I sentence you, Victor Zsasz, to die. Any last words?"

Victor was silent for a couple of seconds before all they heard was his words being muffled, due to the duct tape that was still covering his mouth.

After staring at Victor with furrowed eyebrows, Oswald said to him before he shrugged to himself, "Well said."

Just as Annabelle was about to do as she said she would and kill Oswald before getting Victor free from the guillotine, a gunshot was heard, which got the crowd to let out a scream and run in different directions.

With his gun held high above his own head, James pointed over at Victor and said to Harvey, "Get him out of here."

Just when Harvey was starting to help Victor get free, Oswald pulled out his gun and pointed it at the rope as he yelled, "Overruled!"

Just before the blade came down and hit Victor, Victor quickly pulled his head back and Harvey pulled Victor over to his side.

It was then that Annabelle jumped down from the top of the stairs and landed right in front of Victor and Harvey, just as Oswald yelled, "What the hell are you doing?!"

James replied, "Trying to keep you all from making a terrible mistake."

Oswald said to the crowd, "See? Jim Gordon cares more about protecting a murderer than he does about protecting you!" Then he limped towards James and said to him, "You've lost them, Jim. They don't believe in you anymore. They're mine now."

In response to his words, James shoved Oswald away from him, which resulted in Oswald being slid across from the floor and almost over towards the witness stand.

While Harvey and James walked out of the room with Victor, two of Oswald's men started to pull Oswald back up onto his feet, only to stop when Annabelle tossed them both aside and slammed the flat of her shoe onto Oswald's chest, which effectively pinned him onto the floor.

As he stared up at her with wide eyes, Oswald said to her, "Annabelle, please."

Annabelle scoffed as she replied, "Please? Please, what? Do you mean, please spare your life and not kill you, when you were the one that did nothing but plot the murder of Victor? The very same Victor that I've loved and been in a relationship with for two years now?" When he didn't respond, she moved her shoe from the middle of his chest and up to his neck, where she lightly pressed the heel of her shoe against it before she told him, "It would be quite easy, you know. With just the slightest bit of pressure, I could easily shove the heel of my shoe into your throat and watch as you choke on your own blood before you die."

After watching him close his eyes and start to mutter under his pleads under his breath, she told him, "But I won't. And do you know why I won't, Oswald?" When he opened his eyes and slowly shook his head at her, she told him, "It's because I intend to make you pay in a way you similarly did to Tabitha a couple of months before you killed her."

He quickly said to her, "B-But, Annabelle, we're friends. I'm one of your only friends left here in Gotham. You couldn't possibly want to do that to me."

She tilted her head as she asked him, "Oh, are we, now?" When he nodded his head, she asked him, "If we're such good friends, then why didn't you cease this wish of yours to have Victor killed just like I told you to do? Especially when you know how much I love Victor and how happy he's made me, compared to how I was when I first came to Gotham fourteen years ago."

He replied, "You know why, Annabelle. He betrayed me. He had us both sent back to Arkham. He worked with Sofia Falcone. Hell, he had Safe Haven explode! Why wouldn't I want him dead?"

With a shake of her head, she scoffed as she yelled, 'When will you let that go?! We haven't had to deal with the likes of Sofia Falcone in months! She's gone! She's still in that bloody coma of hers and is far away from this bloody city! So why won't you just let go of this hatred you have for her and the fact that she turned Victor on you?! Why won't you just be my friend and leave the love of my life alone?!"

Once he saw a single tear roll down the side of her face and heard her voice crack as she asked her final question, Oswald's face fell.

It was at that moment that he saw just how hurt she was by his own kind of betrayal against her.

With a sigh, he stared up at her and said to her, "I'm sorry, Annabelle. I'm sorry that I haven't been a good friend to you. I wish that I could be a better one." When Annabelle removed the heel of her shoe from his neck and turned her back on him, he said to her, "Annabelle, just let me prove that I can still be a good friend to you. Let me prove that I'm the same person that vowed to protect Zsasz after you agreed to help me with getting Ed frozen by Victor Fries."

After she turned her head and saw that he was now sitting up as he stared up at her, she shook her head as she said to him, "I'm sorry, Oswald, but I don't think that I can do that. I don't think that I can be your friend anymore."

Before he could so much as say another word to her, she was gone.

Just as he lowered his head to stare at the floor, he suddenly stopped when he saw a piece of jewelry lying right where she once stood.

Once he reached his hand out and grabbed the piece of jewelry, he let out a gasp when he realized that it was the very same piece of jewelry that he got her for as a token of their friendship.

With a sigh, Oswald stared at the piece of jewelry that lay in his hand before he shoved it into his pocket and thought over the fact that he just ruined the very friendship that he enjoyed having ever since she agreed to work with him two years ago.
