Val Harrington could never seem to please her parents, not with her grades, with her swimming competitions, her track competitions, her piano. Nothing pleased them, and they definitely didn't appreciate her learning guitar or hanging out with the 'nerds and freaks' and ditching her popular friends to go looking for Will Byers, who had gotten lost in an another dimension and befriending a girl with superpowers. But they didn't know that, and they didn't need to.
Val's relationship with her parents was rocky, Val felt like she was constantly walking thin ice around them, while wearing roller skates, the way they treated her definitely damaged the way she grew up, and her relationship with, well everyone, especially her brother. Her brother used to be a stuck-up rich boy he was a massive douchebag and only cared about popularity and girls, then again Val cared about those two but she cared about her friends aswell.
Steve didn't have to do alot to impress their parents, he was 'King Steve' the star basketball player, sure he got bad grades but he always had a girl round, he threw big parties that everyone came too, he always acted out. The 'perfect' golden child. That was until last year, when his girlfriend, Nancy Wheeler and her friend Jonathan Byers, smacked the shit out of him and taught him a valuable lesson.
And now everything had rest, Steve and Nancy were back together. Will was okay. Val was back hanging out with her popular friends. The only thing that was different was the fact Val, and the Party missed their superpowered- friend, Eleven. But they had to move on.
