You laughed quietly as Paimon licked the honey off of her plate.

"Paimon, manners." Lumine reprimanded to which Paimon only stuck out their tongue. Kaeya merely chuckled [yk- the chuckle we all know it we all love it 🤩] at the floating guide.

"Anyway," Kaeya said, "The annual Windblume festival is coming up, perhaps the lovely Y/N will grace Mondstadt with her presence when it does?"

You felt your hace flush red as the Calvary Captain leaned in close. Lumine felt the anger  bubbling inside her, eyes narrowed at Kaeya as he smirked at her love inter- I mean, travelling partner.

Having had enough, Lumine stood up, grabbing you up by your forearm, before muttering a half-hearted 'thanks' and leaving in a huff. You laughed and waved goodbye, stumbling to keep up with Lumine's pace as she continued to drag you away.

Paimon floated up to the two. "Lumine," she called, "We're going to have to head to Liyue soon right? We can't miss the Rite of Descention!" She said, as your face fell. You wanted to see more of this beautiful place called Mondstadt.

You shook Lumine's shoulder, "Lumine," she turned to you, "Can't...can't we stay just a... little bit longer?" You pleaded, grasping onto the fabric of her clothing.

"O-of course! Of course we can, abso- absolutely."

Lumine coughed and had to look away. The smile on your face was brighter than thousands of stars. Lumine feared she would go blind if she looked to long, but deemed being able to make you happy as worth the price.

Paimon, a little confused as to the decision, merely shrugged. "We'll need a place to stay, right? And as far as I know, the hotel in Mondstadt is closed by the Fatui." The floating companion said.

Lumine thought long and hard. Usually, she would spend nights outdoors in some hilichurl tent or abandoned hut. She looked over to you before deciding that that was no longer an option.

"We can ask Jean if she has anywhere for us to stay for another day or so. The Rite of Descention isn't for another few weeks..." Lumine said, heading in the direction of the Favonius Headquarters.

You were thrilled, jumping up and down with excitement on the way. You thanked Lumine once more, hugging her side as you walked. The contact only lasted a few seconds at most, but Lumine's face managed to burn an even brighter red.

Soon enough, the large building appeared in front of you, and Lumine led you to Jean's office. Jean- the Acting Grand Master of the Knight's of  Favonius- sat behind her desk filling out numerous papers.

"Hello Jean!" The blonde looked up at Paimon's greeting. "Oh, what a nice surpri-I ... se..." the acting grand master stopped mid sentence when her eyes felt onto you, making Lumine exhale aggressively.

With cheeks tinted red, Jean stood up and approached you. "And who might this be, Traveller?" She asked, leaning down slightly to meet your eyes. (tall women 😍)

Paimon spoke instead of Lumine, who honestly looked as if she were about to commit some form of arson. "Jean, meet Y/N! She wants to explore Mondstadt tomorrow so we're looking for a place to stay for the night!" Your floating friend informed.

"Well, a cutie like her is always welcomed in my place if she needs a place to stay~"

The group turned to see a woman leaning against the door frame. Your face flushed at her compliment, and also because of her.

'Lord Barbatos have mercy on my heart-' You thought as she stepped closer. Lumine sighed, annoyed at the newcomer. "Ah Lisa, meet Y/N! Y/N, meet Lisa- she's the librarian!" Paimon introduced, as you shakily greeted the attractive lady.

With your back facing both Jean and Lumine, multiple threatening glares were fired across the room. Lisa only smiled and took your hand in hers and pulled you closer. "So what do you say sweetie? Care to come home with me?"

"I-I-I uhm I- uh-" you struggled to speak, but Lumine pulled you away before you could make another attempt anyway. She hugged you from behind, doing nothing to calm your rapidly beating heart.

"I was going to ask if there were any rooms in the Favonius Headquarters that we could borrow for the night." Lumine said, glancing at Jean, who nodded -albeit a little solemnly- before speaking.

"We have a few rooms upstairs, please give me a while to clean two of them for you-" she started, only for Lumine to interrupt. "Just one room will do, no need for the extra hassle." She said.

Jean remained silent, mind working to think of a reason not to do that, aside from the fact that she just didn't want you two to sleep on the same bed. Meanwhile your face was getting impossibly red from the thought of sleeping with Lumine, and prayed that there would be separate beds.

Jean sighed, "Alright...I suppose one room should....suffice...." She then ushered the two of you -Lisa had already mysteriously retreated to the Library- out of her office and left to go and prepare the room.

Lumine was sulking in a corner making murder plans and coming up with alibis when you took her by the hand and dragged her out of the Favonius Headquarters. You only had a day or so, and you planned to spend it well.

The sun was on the verge of setting in Mondstadt, making the city light up in a golden hue. Most had begun to close their windows and reel in their clothing lines in preparation for the night. As the noise in the streets dwindled down, the taverns only greeted more patrons.

You and Lumine walked through the paved paths of mondstadt, hands intertwined as you admired the city- and as Lumine admired you.

Paimon had been dropped off at the Favonius Headquarters earlier, having been to worn out by the day's events to stay awake much longer, leaving you and Lumine to explore on your own.

Lumine was very happy with that.

The two of you shared a chicken mushroom skewer from Good Hunter, where you had run into an adorable boy with white hair. Literally. He ran  into you, spilling a mysterious purple.... I want to say soup but I don't think it's edible- onto your clothing.

Is that- is that sizzling?
Anyways-

He apologised a lot, Lumine nearly slapped him, but you stopped her before she could lay a hand on the boy. He- Bennett his name was- offered to treat you two to a chicken mushroom skewer as an apology. But sadly, it was almost closing time and they only had one skewer left.

Lumine wasn't opposed to sharing though.

You also met a few more of Lumine's friends, including a cheerful Amber -who immediately took your arm and offered gliding lessons- and the lovely church deaconess Barbara accompanied by Rosaria. Rosaria requested to go on a night walk with you, but was quickly shot down by Lumine.

Eventually, you found yourself on top of some random roof - how you managed to get up there in the first place was honestly beyond you. Lumine held you close as you sat side by side on the rooftop.

"This was lovely, Lumine..." you whispered, huddled close with her. It really took all she had in her to not whisk you away then and there. She had seen everyone looking at you, as if they even stood a chance. It infuriated her, knowing how many thought that you would go gallivanting with them.

It also kind of scared her.
But she had a plan.

"Say Y/N, I hardly know anything about you." Lumine said, hands behind her head as she lay down, staring up at the stars. "Oh, well Lumine, I can't say I know much about myself either." You said, laughing a bit to yourself. "Why don't you tell me about you?" You asked, making Lumine smile.

"Well uh, it's ah..." She started, shifting a little bit. "My brother, Aether, and I always loved to travel- especially between realms." She said as you listened intently. "One day, we ran into some... Unknown God." She said, hugging herself.

"She....separated us." Lumine's voice cracked as you moved in to hug her. "She imprisoned me for 500 years and....and..." you felt tears fall onto your sleeve, and hugged her tighter.

"It's okay, Lumine, it's okay. We'll find your brother, ok? No matter how long it takes." You comforted, stroking her hair as she sobbed. She gripped your shoulders, and looked into your eyes.

"You- *hic* you won't leave me ri-*hic*-ght?" She begged, tears streaming down her face. You were taken aback by her friend's question but shook her head. "I promise I'll never leave you ok? I'll help you find your brother no matter what." You promised as Lumine dug herself deeper into your shoulder to conceal the grin that fell onto her face.

Everything goes according to plan.
