Some things never change

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyra was, for lack of better words: Pissed as fuck.
She glared at the paintings on the walls, causing them to shake on their hooks and she rarely ate anything; in her time in the house she had lost a significant amount of weight. Dark bags under her eyes signifying her lack of good sleep.
She had moved in three weeks before, and the Weasleys and Hermione two weeks after her.
Although they were under strict orders from Dumbledore to not to write anything important to Harry, of course, Lyra, being Lyra, ignored those orders.
She had kept her promise, she wrote to Harry every single day. To her dismay, she had not received a single letter in response.
Ron and Hermione had both been getting letters from Harry, demanding information, but when it came to Lyra, her owl would come back carrying nothing but a dead mouse.
She spent most of her time in her late great aunts room with Sirius and Buckbeak. Sirius was rather moody himself these days so they found solitude and comfort in sitting with each other.
They rarely talked, until the one day she had broken down in tears because it was a whole month without receiving any news or messages from Harry.
Lyra felt an emptiness inside that she had never felt before. Every summer since first year, she and Harry would write to each-other frequently, the sudden change was jarring. So many little things happened in her days and she wrote them all in her letters, but she received no reply.
She felt more alone than she ever had, she had always had Draco, and when she didn't she had Nymphadora, Hermione, Ron, and her best friend; a bond that she never thought would be strained to this point, Harry.
____________
One evening Lyra was storming around the her bed room as usual when she heard a gasp come from the kitchen. She peaked
her head out of the door and saw that across the hall, Ron and Hermione had paused their game of wizards chess to find the source of the voice as well as well.
There was now the undeniable sound of Mrs. Weasleys voice sounding outraged and saying something the likes of "Madness.....-Fudge....."
The three teens slowly looked at one another and nodded. They all knew that had to tread lightly, they ask one wrong question and they'd be denied any answers.
As they approached the kitchen they jumped, hearing Sirius let out a roar of outrage.
"Expelled?! HOW CAN THEY HAVE HIM EXPELLED? IT WAS A MATTER OF SELF DEFENSE!"
Hearing that, Lyra burst through the kitchen door.
"You're talking about Harry, aren't you?" Lyra said, slightly breathless, her heart racing.
Kingsley and Mrs. Weasley jumped slightly, as this was their first time hearing Lyra's voice in days. It came out dull and groggy from lack of use.
Dora and Sirius were both sitting at the table, and looked over at her. Dora quickly got up and rushed to hug Lyra.
She accepted the hug briefly and then turned her attention back to Mrs. Weasley.
"Harry's been expelled?" Lyra asked slowly.
"Yes, dear." Mrs. Weasley said softly.
Sirius stood up from his chair and looked at the three terrified teens standing in the door way.
"There was a dementor attack," He sighed, "We don't know how they got out of Azkaban, or why they were in Little Whinging-"
Before he could finish, Hermione cut him off, "But Harry's alright? He wasn't hurt?"
"No, fortunately he was able to fight the dementors off both him and his cousin with the Patronus Charm-"
"That's why he was expelled?" Ron cut in, "Defending himself against dementors?!"
"Is fudge mad?!" Lyra said, her voice shaking as she tried to control her rage. The glasses on the table began to shake.
"Lyra..." Sirius said, Lyra took a deep breath and the shaking stopped. He nodded at her. "Harry did underaged magic outside of school," He sighed, "His cousin was there, so preforming magic in front of him was a punishable offense."
"But it was self defense!" Ron said shaking his head and sitting at the table.
The conversation continued but Lyra tuned it out. She was lost in her own thoughts until she heard the words she'd been dreading since she realized Harry wasn't going to respond to any of her letters.
"He'll be transported here tonight."
Lyra's eyes widened, finding her cousin. Dora was looking at her worriedly.
Lyra just nodded at her and walked back through the doorway. She could distantly hear Tonks and Kingsley discussing the team that would bring Harry to the house.
She slammed her door and dropped down onto her bed. She was staring at the stars she had Dora charm to her ceiling and that's when it all went black.
—————
She was standing in a court room, a room that she had seen before.
It felt like she was walking through a distant memory, she couldn't make out any faces except for one, Harry's.
He sat in a chair in the middle of the room, a look of apprehension on his face, the look quickly turned into a smile.
As that image was whisked away another one replaced it.
A dark hallway, a door, a crystal ball, a wisp
of white blonde hair and a death eaters mask, then she was awake.
———————
She's got up in bed. Her room now dark, the sun having set hours ago.
She wrote her vision down in detail in her journal and then walked over to the bathroom to wash her face.
As she looked into her own eyes in the mirror, she didn't know the girl she saw.
She was pale, her usually sparkling grey eyes dull. Her black hair was knotted in a ponytail.
She was contemplating just going back into bed when she heard Harry's voice drifting across the hall. He was yelling at Ron and Hermione for not writing.
It took her a good ten minutes to pull herself together then walked out into the hallway, and opened the door to Ron's room. She let the door swing open in front of her and suddenly she was face to face with Harry Potter.
