"you're gonna love your birthday gift," jimin chuckles, holding aera's hand while his words are directed to the younger brother following him behind like a tail, never stopping from his questions about his already delayed birthday present.
technically jimin is late this year. he should've gifted the boy two weeks ago, but due to a lot of paperwork the time kept on extending until finally his manager told him that the 'present' will arrive today and the impatient jungkook can have it.
the rest of the boys had already showered the birthday boy with tons of presents and lovely wishes: a rolex from namjoon, a new gaming computer and equipments from yoongi, a camera from taehyung, a hoverboard and a pair of leather boots of balenciaga from hoseok, and after a lot of thinking jin gifted the boy snacks claiming that he already has everything else and jimin had already told the hyungs not to get him any vehicle. jungkook didn't have to know this restriction for a reason: he'll be mad that his hyung told everyone not to buy him cars despite being full aware of his love for them.
but anyway, from all the heavy presents and money spent on his birthday party in a lavish hotel where jimin had invited all of jungkook's friends and nearly the whole school to mark jungkook's eighteenth birthday. his brother's big day as he called it. there were two parties to be specific, one was their own just the seven boys and aera, and the second one was from jimin for he didn't want his brother to waste his eighteenth birthday in a nasty pub filled with half drunk and sweaty people. so he took it to himself and organised everything he knew teenagers like at a party these days, from drinks to disco, a fabulous dj and lots of people.
it would be an understatement if he said jungkook just 'liked' the party. from the boy's shimmering eyes and the wide smile leaking from his face, jimin could bet he loved the party. and that day he had re-earned the title of 'the best hyung in the whole world' again.
the first time jungkook called jimin that, he was still just three years old and could barely get full sentences out, but from what jayhyun translated to jimin after he helped jungkook climb up the kitchen stool, the toddler did mumble something atrociously awesome. the next time jungkook said it again, jimin remembers the day very clearly and knows that the younger did say the exact words because he had mastered the art of speaking by then. 'my hyung is the best hyung in the whole world!'
jungkook was five and jimin knew he didn't mistake it. jungkook actually meant it as he had hugged the elder brother tightly, then ran to their mother, telling her how his jimin hyungie saved him from some bad boys in the park who weren't letting him play on the monkey bars.
jimin smiles at the memory, shaking his head as aera tugs on his hand, pulling out of his trance. when he looks down at her, waiting for some words which never come, his eyes automatically follow her hand pointing towards the side of the hall where jungkook is standing on his new hoverboard, leaning on the wall and his arms crossed on his chest, blocking their way to the living room.
"i told you you'll get it soon," jimin sighs.
"you've been saying that since my birthday," the boy huffs, "where's my gift?"
"let's not do this buddy, if i said you'll get it, means you'll get it."
"no, don't 'buddy' me hyung. i want my–"
jimin sighs deeply, pulling out his phone and dials a number, glancing at aera with a small smile as he pats her back, gesturing her to go ahead and he's coming, "manager lee," he hums on the phone, "i told you to get something done?"
"yes sir, the bike is arriving today,"
"good, and what about the other one?"
"the driver's license? yes sir, i'm on my way. should i come home right now?"
"uh right now–" jimin glances at jungkook who's smile doubles, snatching the phone from his hand and puts it on speaker.
"yes, whatever it is, being it right now. i know it's for me." jungkook rambles barely containing his grin, making jimin sigh while the manager chuckles on the line.
"alright, so i'll come right now. is it okay sir?"
"yes yes, of course," jungkook speaks before jimin does, earning a look from the elder, "it's a yes from me, it's a yes from him too. you can come manager lee, thank you."
"no problem, sir,"
"just jungkook, manager lee, i'm not your sir." the boy laughs lightly, getting a faint 'ah' sound followed by an 'okay' from the manager, "alright, anyway thanks i'll be waiting!" he says before hanging up and hands the phone back to the brother.
"when you speak to the employees you have to be formal," jimin says with a sigh, straightening his shirt and gestures his hand for the boy to head inside the room.
jungkook moves aside, letting jimin go first and follows behind on wheels of the hoverboard glowing neon blue and white at the linings. jimin sits on the couch with the elders where aera's standing behind them and doing their hair into weird pig tails. jin has one on top of his head, yoongi has two and hoseok has one on the side the other one probably came off, then taehyung has two and aera's still trying to make another one on the side. namjoon is sitting beside taehyung, sighing for he's probably the next person to be gifted with aera's unique hairstyle.
"what have you done to them?" jungkook snorts, "let me take a picture!"
"noo! go away!" aera whines, "koo get– away!"
"what's wrong?" he asks.
"you only taking all the gifts an- and not giving to me!"
"that's because it was my birthday. you get gifts too when it's your birthday."
"no, i wan' that!" aera huffs, "you getting one more gift today and riri no' getting anything..."
"my hyung's giving it to me." jungkook mocks at her making aera whine, stomping her foot in the barrow space behind taehyung, kicking him accidentally.
"hey don't say that to her," jin sighs, hugging aera as he brings her to the front and makes her sit on his lap. "we do give so many gifts to riri,"
"one more," aera pouts, "car..."
"you have a car," he says, patting her back gently and stands her on the floor, "go and bring it, show us you were cleaning it right?"
"mm-hmm," aera nods, breaking into an excited smile as she forgets about wanting more gifts and runs out of the room to bring her car.
"behave like that and you're not getting anything," jimin says, getting a gasp from jungkook as he shakes his head instantly, "that's what i thought,"
"hyung i–" the doorbell interrupts jungkook and a grin stretches his lips, already on his way to answer the door, followed by the rest of the boys who exchange knowing glances on hearing the sound of a big vehicle stopping in the driveway. "wow what's in that?! i didn't imagine it to be this huge!" jungkook gasps, staring at the black truck and then at the black sedan which stops beside it and manager lee steps out.
"good afternoon sir," the manager bows to jimin and the rest, smiling as he holds out an envelope. "here, took a little while, i'm sorry for the delay."
jimin nods briefly, taking the envelope and peeks inside to confirm it's what he wanted, then hands it to his younger brother, who's frowning at it. jungkook opens the envelope, pulling out a paper and a card that eventually makes the boy gasp in excitement, breaking into a wide smile and he steps forward hugging jimin tightly, "yess! thank you so much! i love you!"
jimin laughs at the overexcited state of the brother, patting his back slowly, "don't you wanna check the main thing out?" he chuckles, pulling away and points at the back towards the garage once the men are out, giving thumbs up that the job is done and they're ready to leave. the truck clears the way and manager lee too, takes his leave happy to make his boss's younger brother happy, which also makes the boss happy.
"oh my god i feel like i'm gonna die," jungkook exasperates, heading to the garage with the hyungs, "aera c'mere! i'm gonna see my gift!"
"peep-peep!" aera giggles, driving her car and accelerates past jungkook, sticking her tongue out at him, "i have a car, koo don't have a car!"
"shut up," jungkook mutters, entering the garage, instantly gasping loudly at the sight of a black cover on an obvious vehicle which doesn't look like a car. he speed-walks ahead, holding the cover and glances at his hyungs, getting a nod and some chuckles, letting him know that it's meant for him and he can carry on.
the cover goes off, leaving jungkook stunned, eyes staring wide at the sports bike and his lips parted with a mixture of happiness to jump around and hug his hyung as tight as possible and shock that jimin actually agreed to get him this very bike.
"i... hyung," his voice whispers, covering his mouth, "you said you won't get this..."
"and then someone told me how kook's behaving himself outside and being a gentleman."
jungkook frowns at that, not getting the elders words and taehyung laughs, "he knows about the donation money,"
"what?" jungkook gulps, the crease on his brows only deepening in confusion as he fails to understand how jimin can possibly know about the ten-thousand dollars he donated from his savings to an orphanage. "how...?"
"they contacted me," jimin says, "since you weren't a legal yet and the money wasn't a small amount."
jungkook nods slowly, looking down at his feet, "well... yeah... before you ask me why i didn't tell you... uhm it was because y'know this is not really me an-and i don't this stuff. i was saving that money for a bike but it just happened an–"
"jungkook-ah," jimin chuckles, "it's alright, we're proud of you. y'know when they called me and thanked me, i felt so good. then i told the rest of the hyungs and even they very proud of you, we all were so happy that you did this."
"yeah but–"
"i know, you don't wanna hear us say that because it makes you shy, and that is why you didn't tell us. i know that buddy, but don't deny that you won't do such good deeds. you are a good person and you can always do something good, doesn't matter if anyone knows or not. we don't do good things for everyone to know, it's for us, it's because we feel happy seeing someone else happy. and that is enough of a reason."
jungkook nods slowly, his cheeks turning into a shade of red as he keeps his head low to hide that tint and the lips pressed into a thin line. though his attention soon shifts to the side, hearing a thud and sees aera sitting in her car, colliding it with his brand new bike.
"yah! get away! what the fuck are you doing to my bike!" he sneers, pushing away the tiny car with his leg and stands in front of his bike, "go and play somewhere else."
"no! remove this– yo' bike! it's my place to park my car!" aera glares at him, honking at him with the horn and accelerates towards him, bumping into his legs this time.
"get away– hyung! tell her to stay away!" jungkook turns to the elders and jimin sighs, lifting aera off the car and pushes it aside, despite the girl whining and wriggling to get back near her electric vehicle.
"hey shh, stay still," jimin pats her back, getting a pout from aera as she quietens down and rests her head on his shoulder, "good girl,"
"koo is so bad..." she mumbles, "i wan' that oppa," her hand points at the bike on which jungkook is sitting now and accelerating with the keys namjoon just gave him. "i wan' a bike like koo,"
"you can get one when you grow up," jimin replies, speaking in a soft tone as he's already close enough to her ear considering that aera's leaning on his shoulder.
"now,"
"i don't have a bike for you right now,"
"oppa p'ease...?"
jimin sighs softly, kissing her cheek and nuzzles his face closer, "do you know what's better than a bike?" aera shakes her head, straightening herself to look at jimin's smiling face, "it's a lot of kisses and a lot of hugs. guess who has a lot of kisses and hugs for riri?"
"oppa!" aera giggles, wrapping her arms around his neck and pecks his lips then breaks into a fit of laughter when jimin chuckles, leaning down and showers her face with smooches.
"ri, do you wanna go for a ride?" jungkook's voice beams in the middle, earning a confused glance from her. "i'm gonna have a quick test-drive 'round the block,"
"go alone, aera's not going on that with you. at least not until you know how to ride that properly." yoongi says.
"i know how to ride it, dan has his father's bike. i rode that a few times." jungkook grins, shifting back to make space for his sister and pats the seat, "come,"
aera nods, pointing at the bike and jimin sighs, making her sit in front of jungkook, eliciting an instant giggle from her lips, "wow! this is so nice!" she chirps, leaning forward and holds jungkook's hands on the handle, "le's go!"
"let's get it!" jungkook grins, starting the engine and accelerates once, forming a dust of cloud behind him, "ready?"
"ready!" aera claps her hands as the vehicle moves forward along with the faint sound of the engine, "yayy!"
"say bye oppa,"
"bye-bye oppa, we're goin' out!"
"don't go too far!"
"yes hyung! don't worry!"
