"It ain't pretty, but it should be watertight,"
Brooklynn said removing her hands from the tray pressed up against the side of the boat, now having sealant holding it up as the tray was patching up the gaping hole.
"Dope. Let's leave already!" Kenji cheered as Sammy did too, "Oh, my gosh, I can't believe it's really happening!" The girl jumped up and down with glee.
"Buh-bye, Isla Nublar!" Brooklynn waved towards the island while Yasmina raised her hands into the sky,
"We are out of here!" She had a wide smile that Camille couldn't help smiling herself at, though it seemed to fade at the next words said,
"Hey, hold up, guys. It says here we have to wait 48 hours for it to set" Darius proclaimed as everybody seemed disappointed,
"They have to say that for insurance and junk," Kenji said with a shrug, moving past and closer to the boat,
"Well I would rather wait 48 hours than be stuck in murky waters again, thank you," Camille said through her teeth with a grim look in her eyes, Kenji waving his hand towards her,
"As your captain, I pronounce this vessel seaworth--" He knocked against the tray trying to prove its strength, it failed, the tray falling down onto the dock, clearly needing the 48 hours to set before they could begin to set sail again.
"Um, I've got some captainy stuff to do..." Kenji quickly picked up the tray, looking at all the disappointed faces,
Kenji passed the tray to Darius before moving away, "over there-- Carry on"
"One more time..." Darius said as he turned, Brooklynn walking by his side to hold up the tray.
"Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?" Sammy said standing beside Camille, looking down towards Brooklynn.
"Kind of busy right now," Brooklynn said, focused on holding the tray straight for Darius to continue gluing,
"but...I need your help with something personal..." Sammy said shyly, she seemingly didn't want to admit it yet she did either way,
"Spill everything--" Brooklynn dropped the tray, turning around with wide eyes before she grabbed Sammy and pulled the girl away towards some steps.
Darius let out a small scoff before Camille hopped over, picking it up for him, "I'll help you," She smiled warmly,
"Thanks, C," He smiled back as Camille pressed the tray against the boat, holding it steadily for him as he began to trace around the edges of the tray gluing it down, and fortunately there were no interruptions while doing so.
"Phew, done and dusted" Darius wiped his hand against his shirt, sliding the glue up and onto the boat as Camille cracked her knuckles,
"Simple," She smiled before spotting Kenji and Yasmina over Darius's shoulder, the boy turning over as well,
"God...what's Kenji up to now..." Darius groaned as he dragged his feet, painfully walking over as Camille followed giving him a small pat on the shoulder.
"Like my dad always says, If you've got a problem, throw cash at it" Kenji said proudly, resting his arms behind him on some boxes,
"uh-- Kenji, not so sure that's a good idea. You know what you get when you feed a pigeon?" Darius said tilting his head as his eyes widened at the situation in front of him.
"A fat pigeon?" He stated, clueless obviously to what happens when you feed birds,
"More pigeons you imbécile," Camille said while Yasmina slammed her fist into his shoulder as he ushered her away, Yasmina pointing out how more compys had quite literally appeared from thin air,
"You get more pigeons!" She moved her hands forwards, motioning to the flock of compys around them now.
"Then it's a good thing I'm rich" Kenji reached into his pockets and began to throw more quarters while the other three tried to stop him, "Here you go! You, too,"
"Money! Money! Money!--" Kenji chanted to himself while tossing the coins,
"Dude, you are making it so much worse!" Yasmina looked around shaking her head,
"Fetch! Get the quarters!" Kenji tossed another making the compys dash between bushes and shrubs to find it before Darius gasped, turning over towards the boxes,
"She's got the compass!" Darius worriedly yelled, the three others turned over with shock on their faces, watching the compy jump down and move onto the grass as it carried their compass in its small jaw,
"Kenji this is your fault--" Camille said through her teeth glaring at him,
"So not good..." Yasmina added, watching the compy carefully,
"Hey, give that back. Come on! I'll give you two quarters for it" Kenji tried to bargain with the compy, throwing the two quarters as two other compys chase it but the one with the compass wasn't phased by his trade,
"Just approach her slowly..." Darius said, shifting his foot forwards an inch yet it triggered the compy as it began to run off, the four of them chasing after it as they passed by Ben who was returning from the trees.
"Be back later, Ben! You're in charge!" Kenji yelled out to a confused Ben as they passed by him,
The four continue chasing down the compy group, Yasmina beginning to pick up speed gaining on the compys as Kenji cheered her on, "Go get her, Yaz!"
"Don't play with me, Compy!" She leaned forwards, heading straight for the compass as she outstretched her hand to grab the Compy,
"You will not outrun me!" She said ready to grab it but the Compy was slick and dropped the compass, Yasmina slid to a stop, falling down before turning to reach the compass but one of the other Compys had ran by and picked it up, running away with it.
"Hey! That's cheating!" Yasmina called as Camille jumped over the girl on the floor, chasing behind the compy as Darius and Kenji try to cut it off but end up colliding and were sent crashing to the floor, again Camille jumped over the bodies continuing to chase the compy down,
"Reviens ici, sale petite vermine!" She screamed out, picking up on speed as her eyes narrowed down focusing upon the compy,
(Come back here, you filthy little vermin!).
The compy looked back at her when she spoke while she chased it, Camille letting out a big scoff, "So you know french now huh?! I see how it is you stupid little f--"
"Stop communicating with it and get the damn compass!--" Kenji cut her off by calling out as they all began catching up again,
"I'm trying!!" Camille got closer as she went to grab it but the Compy took a sharp turn causing Camille to run into a mass amount of trees and overgrown roots and multiple cobwebs, they all made their way through the sudden forest of greenery and pushed past some prickly bushes to make it into a clearing but had lost sight of the compy.
"Anyone see where it went?" Yasmina said looking around and so did the others, Camille rubbed her head painfully as she looked around, she began peaking through some bushes with Darius doing the same, looking for any sign of the Compy and its little friends when Yasmina called out,
"uhh, Darius? Camille?" The two share a look before jogging over to Kenji and Yasmina, slowing down as they got a better view of what they were looking at,
"Guys, do you know where we are? Welcome to Jurassic Park..." Darius had a small smile on his face, amazed at their discovery, "This is where it all began,"
"Nope. No way" Kenji began to back away, shaking his hands in a criss-cross motion "We shouldn't be here. Everyone knows this place is haunted,"
"Haunted?" Darius looked over to the boy, "Yeah! Bad things happened here..!"
"As opposed to the rest of this island?" Darius said sarcastically with a brow raised, "Exactly"
Darius let out a short sigh, returning his attention to the building, "We need that compass. Please talk some sense into him," Darius looking over to the two girls, Yasmina speaking up,
"Darius is right, Jurassic Park isn't haunted," Yasmina said plainly towards Kenji, Camille chuckled softly while stepping beside Yasmina as she looked to Kenji, " Exactly, it's just an urban legend your dad used to tell y--"
"It's cursed"
"What?" Darius and Camile say in unison, both startled by what Yasmina was saying, "Legend has it that the original park owner broke his ankle here and then was eaten alive by Compies!"
Kenji gasped and covered his mouth with his eyes wide open, clearly frightened by his story, "That's not true--" Darius lowered Kenji's hands for him, "John Hammond died of natural causes. Where'd you hear that?"
"Read it somewhere. I'm kind of obsessed with theme park deaths." Yasmina said with a small smirk and a shrug,
"Because that's reassuring to hear somebody say.." Camille said with a small shiver, itching the back of her goosebump-covered neck,
"You sure came to the right place," Kenji said in a worried tone as he slithered behind Camille before a compy suddenly ran between Kenji and Camille's legs, startling the group before they watched it run off inside the building,
"Maybe the others went in there, too" Darius, Yasmina, and Camille run ahead in towards the building, Kenji following behind without choice as he grumbled and groaned, they push the large doors wide open with Kenji slowly coming in behind them as they take a moment to look around at the old building and it's remains.
"Whoa..." Darius slowly says before the big doors slam shut, causing the group to jump quickly.
They recover slowly before taking a look around at the ruins of the area, everything was covered in moss and overgrown vines with multiple broken parts scattered everywhere. There were old and dirt-covered murals across the walls along with broken skeletal parts from what used to be a sculpture.
"I don't like this. I don't like this..." Kenji said to himself before something dropped and he screamed, startling the other three,
"What was that?!" Kenji said, alarmed as they all looked around before watching one of the compys carrying a nail in its mouth, watching it run along the edge of a metal beam before Darius spotted a nest.
"Look!" He pointed upwards, the compass sitting within the nest of the compy, "We gotta get up there..." He looked back to the others, determination written all over his face.
"Well, the good news is it's only, like..." Yasmina began before turning back to Darius, "30 feet in the air. Yeah. Easy," She spoke sarcastically as Darius turned back over, staring up at the nest before looking towards a dust and mud-covered vending machine,
"We can use that to help us climb up and get the compass, come on!" He said, moving over as Camille and Yasmina followed him they began to push against the machine with all their might moving it bit by bit,
"Just a sec, guys.." Kenji kept moving along with the machine, inserting the quarter he held, "I'm useless till I carbo-load." He pressed the buttons for whatever he wanted from the machine, the other three still pushing it as best they could on the harsh terrain.
"Come on, J4. Come on, J4" He clenched his fists staring inside the machine as the trio stopped for a minute, "Dude, it's not even plugged in.." Yasmina said before they began to push it again,
"Aw, man. That was my last quarter..." Kenji said sadly before he helped them push the vending machine to its final destination by a set of framework that was still intact.
Yasmina moved around the side of the vending machine while looking upwards,
"Come on, guys. Like this..." She boosted herself on top of the vending machine before swinging across with a vine to grab ahold of the metal bars, she kept on moving and twisting around the floor boards and metal frames until she reached the top, pulling herself onto of the final bars at the top.
"Come on, Kenji. Like that," Darius joked, lightly elbowing the boy as Camille went first to follow behind Yasmina with Kenji next and then Darius. The two boys slowly made their way up whereas Camille had just about caught up to Yasmina.
"Woah-- Watch out for the Compies!" Yasmina grunted, flicking one away as Camille pulled herself up, sitting on top of the pole balancing beside Yasmina who was already climbing up a vine,
"Nasty little rats..." Yasmina muttered earning a slight grin from Camille who was watching Yasmina climb the vine before they all halted, watching the compys screech before scattering.
They all looked back down to see two compys run through a crack in the wall, one jumping on top of the skull from a statue before another dinosaur jumped from the crack scaring the compy away.
A familiar velociraptor,
They all fell silent, not daring to make a move as they all share the same worried look on their faces. Camille held her breath, slowly looking up to Yasmina who had her eyes glued to the raptor before her gaze slowly moved to Camille yet it seemed Camille's eyes were set on something above them , Yasmina slowly looked upwards seeing two compys fighting for the compass.
It was pulled back and forth, until,
The compass was dropped, leaning on the edge of the nest as Yasmina made a bold move to inch up the vine.
The raptor beneath them continued to scan the area as the boys watched the raptor in fear, Yasmina kept on climbing higher and higher up the vine looking back towards the boys as Darius gave her a nod and Kenji shook his head.
Yasmina kept on climbing further to reach it.
Yasmina's fingers reached out to grab it but she made the compass to tip, failing to catch it the compass began to fall through the air.
The raptor circles back around,
Camille tried to catch the compass but missed, beginning to tip from balance on the metal frame she flipped while grabbing the pole and gently placed her feet down on the metal plank,
Darius this time reached, catching the compass himself. The raptor stood directly underneath them searching the area,
watching,
waiting,
listening.
Each of the four shared the same look of fear, the raptor quickly ran around the vending machine letting out a short growl as it caught a compy by the throat.
The raptor lifted its head with the compy in its mouth, scanning the area as its eyes narrowed at every corner before it ran off and out of sight.
Everybody let out a breath of relief, making sure it was gone before they began climbing down.
Darius jumped down first, Camille following behind him, "That's one of the raptors we saw our first night..."
"The one that tried to eat you guys..." Camille rubbed her head remembering the whole situation,
"Yeah. Don't think I'll be forgetting that face any time soon..." Kenji said as he jumped down before leaning by Camille.
"Me neither, must be nesting in here now," Darius said looking at the area, Yasmina crouched down on top of the vending machine, "Love what it's done with the place, but let's get out before it comes back"
They turn over as they begin walking away, Yasmina hoping down and joining them before they heard a low growl in the shrubs behind them, they all turned slowly in sync as the raptor came into the light letting out a short yowl as it stared at them down,
"Clever guy.." Kenji said quietly, holding his hands close to himself,
"Girl...She's a girl" Darius corrected with a slight stutter as they all stuck close to one another,
"I need to bring...my bat...way more often now.." Camille said slowly, her arms outwards in a protective manner, the raptor continuing to move closer as they tried to take cautious steps back as a group.
"Darius, remind me how we got away from the raptors last time...?" Kenji asked wearily,
"Camille, Dave, and Roxie saved us?" Darius answered quietly, his eyes widened at the raptor growing closer,
"Oh, right. So, what do we do now..?" Kenji asked towards the French-girl in front of them all, Camille slowly crouched down as she spotted a large rock, her fingers slowly wrapped around as she had a tight grip on it,
"We run!!" she called out as she tossed the rock over, smashing it into the raptors head as it moved forwards which sent it down to the floor, the group immediately sprinted towards the door slamming it open as they began to run anywhere but the abandoned building.
"Up there! The truck!" Darius pointed out as they all take a sharp turn towards an abandoned truck that was sat upon of a pile of rocks, opening the doors and piling inside,
"Start the engine! Start the engine!" Darius said quickly from the backseat with Camille but there was no key, Kenji let out a short scream.
Darius noticed something in the far backseat, leaning over to grab it, "Hey, check out this tranquilizer rifle. Maybe we can-"
The raptor had found them, it began slamming into the sides of the truck trying to find any way to get inside.
They all covered themselves while screaming as the truck kept on rocking back and forth on the rocks before it all suddenly stopped.
"Where'd she go?" Darius asked looking out a window, Camille checked the opposite window,
"Maybe she went back to get her raptor friends..." Kenji said checking each front window with Yasmina,
"If she still had a pack, they'd be here by now. She's alone..." Darius said chillingly as they all gulped.
They all kept looking around the area, a bush beside them rustled as they all looked over but there was no sign of her anywhere.
Kenji and Yasmina look into the backseat where Camille and Darius were before suddenly the raptor slammed into the front window of the truck trying to break through, they all screamed louder than before, watching the raptor climb up and over the truck beginning to slam into the back of it.
They all were thrown forwards in their seats, Darius and Camille tumbling around in the back not having done up seatbelts but Yasmina noticed the gear stick was set in 'park' as she pushed it forwards causing the car to roll forwards off the rocks, and down the hill picking up speed with the raptor still chasing them down.
The raptor jumped at the truck every now and then until it jumped into the front of the truck, Kenji struggling to steer as this sudden jumpscare led to them running right over multiple rock formations sending the truck of course and tumbling down a rugged hill, landing upside down.
They all recovered slowly from the weak amount of smoke coming from the truck, groaning and grumbling in pain from the rocky ride.
"Where is she? Do you see her..?" Yasmina groaned, placing her hands on the roof of the car still in her seat hanging upside down with Kenji,
"I'm fine. Thanks for asking..." Kenji grunted out before the truck began to move, underneath small growls being heard as through the skylight of the car they could see they had landed on top of the raptor.
"Come on..." Darius kicked one of the doors open, crawling out with Camille following behind, Yasmina and Kenji unbuckled their seats, also following them out.
They creep around glancing at the damage of the truck, seeing the raptor was crushed and unable to move from the weight of the truck as it let out short and helpless grunts when suddenly a few compys popped up on a rock, looking down upon the raptor,
"Let's go!" Kenji said quickly as they began to jog away from the scene but Darius stopped as he looked back at the three compys around the raptor's head, nipping and biting away at its skin as the raptor couldn't do anything to stop it.
"Come on, man! We gotta go--" Kenji said with a small pant, the two girls swiftly moving back over to the duo,
"They'll kill her, eat her alive..." Darius said grimly with his brows furrowed,
"Darius you do realize she tried to eat us, twice now!?" Camille said trying to reason with him,
"And- this is not our problem, bro. Enemy of my enemy and all that.." Kenji said taking a few steps back,
"But she wasn't our enemy. We were trespassing in her home..." Yasmina said taking a step forwards but the group all moved back after two more compys come by, joining the others around the raptor. Darius pops open a cap on the tranquilizer gun he held,
"no way to tranq all of them...." Darius said looking back up at the compys,
"Okay, fine, dino whisperer. What do we do?" Kenji said in a louder tone, "We gotta distract the Compies-"
They all thought for a second before Kenji let out a short laugh as a lightbulb flicked in his mind, grabbing Camille by the jumper and dragging her along,
"I have an idea!-" Camille followed Kenji as he led them back to the abandoned Jurassic park building,
"Typical Kenji running..." Yasmina said to Darius but Darius looked confused, "Why would Camille join him...whatever-"
Kenji pushed the large doors open sliding inside before he rammed into the vending machine, the two watched the quarters pour out,
"You're a genius!" Camille said as she dropped to her knees, stuffing coins into the pockets of her hoodie, Kenji did the same before a bag of chips fell out,
"Yes!" Kenji said taking them as Camille shook her head before the two got up beginning to sprint back.
"Look there they are!!" Camille called, as Kenji reached before tossing a coin towards the compys, Yasmina and Darius looking back from where the quarter came from.
"You like that? More where that came from!" Kenji kept throwing more and more coins as so did Camille, the compys beginning to get distracted,
"Good thinking!" Darius said quickly before turning to the truck, the others following, "Now lift! Before they come back!" They all gripped the truck, pushing with all their might to lift the truck and free the raptor.
"Come on! She's almost out!" Darius said as they all kept on pushing the truck upwards, watching the raptor squirm and try and slip out until she was free as they all dropped the truck, falling back and fanning the air from the dust stirred up.
As the dust cleared they noticed the raptor now standing, still seemingly stalking them as it towered over them, Darius furrowed his brows and slowly stood up,
"Dude, what are you doing?" Kenji said quickly while Darius slowly moved and kicked the tranquillizer gun away, the raptor eyed his every move,
"Trust me..." Darius whispered, holding a hand out towards the raptor as the trio slowly crawled back to their feet, "Back up slowly..." Darius spoke calmly, everybody's eyes glued to the raptor infront of them,
"And whatever you do, don't turn your back..." They kept moving away slowly until they watched a quarter bounce of the raptor's snout and down onto the grass, they looked back to Kenji who shamelessly shrugged, the raptor giving a deafening roar causing the kids to scream,
"Never mind! Go!!" They all began to run as fast as they could, the raptor scaring them off and away from its territory.
"Kenji, I take it back! You're not a genius!!!"
