I walked to my house, each of my steps made me feel worse and worse, I was deep in a void of frustration and anger. I couldn't even think straight anymore, I'm meeting my admirer tomorrow and the only thing I care about right now is my friends.
And Albert of course
Gosh dang it Kirsten! Why did you had to move here in the first place?!
As I was walking I tried to reorder my thoughts and keep my anger for later, I tried to think about the moral advice my dad taught me, and in the end I finally decided that I needed to fix things as soon as possible or else I won't sleep tonight, I stopped on my tracks and looked at the street for a while.
If the next car that passes by is white, I'll go to Maia's house
I waited there a few seconds when a white Nisan passed by me, I smiled to myself and then started to walk my way to Maia's house, on the way I also decided to call my dad, I took my phone out and dialed his number, I placed my phone next to my ear and waited a few seconds, after a while he picked up.
Dad: Hello?
Yn: Hey dad!
Dad: Hey pumpkin what's up?
Yn: I'll arrive a little late today
Dad: Why?
Yn: I need to go to Maia's house
Dad: Oh!
Yn: Yup...
Dad: ...
Yn: ...
Dad: Is Albert with you?
I laughed
Yn: No, he's not with me
Dad: Fine, then be careful
Yn: I will, love you
Dad: Love you more- hey wait!
Yn: Yeah?
Dad: Could you bring sushi on the way?
I laughed
Yn: Dad you're on a diet!
Dad: But today's a special day!
Yn: Really? What day is it?
Dad: It's uh-... Monday!
We laughed
Yn: Do you want California rolls?
Dad: Yes and get some avocado rolls too
I laughed
Yn: Fine I'll be there in an hour or so
Dad: Great! bye sweetie
Yn: Bye!
I hung up the phone and kept walking, after crossing some streets, walked past some parks and a dog almost bit me, I arrived Maia's house, I walked to the front door and stared at the big house with yellow walls for a while, I inhaled deeply, reunited all my courage and knocked the white door twice, I could hear some noise inside -which honestly was pretty common since Maia had a big family- after some seconds the door opened, a girl, shorter than me with short wavy brown hair on top of her shoulders, a round nose with freckles and blush on top and round big brown eyes opened the door, she had a tired face on and there were bag under her eyes, she was dressing up with a gray hoodie and blue jeans, she was wearing shoes and her red socks called my attention, I immediately recognized her as Claire, the second daughter of the family and one year younger than Maia, she smiled at me.
Claire: Well it's the legend!
I laughed, I've known Claire for a few years and we got along pretty well.
Yn: Hey Claire! It's been long
Claire: How have you been?
Yn: Great, you?
Claire: Meh, you know as always, getting suspended constantly or whatever
Yn: Still?
Claire: I'm used to it, that's my style
She said laughing
Yn: Only Claire can pull her own style
She laughed
Claire: Exactly, what brings you here girl?
She said tiredly and resting her shoulder against the door frame, inside I could see Maia's siblings playing and messing around, there were little kids crying or screaming for no reason, Maia's mother was in the kitchen cooking something while Maia's dad was watching the tv lazily.
I couldn't see my best friend however
Yn: I need to talk with Maia
Claire yawned
Claire: Yeah, she's in her room with her boyfriend, come in
She said with a side smile, then she moved to the left giving me space to come in, I walked inside and Claire closed the door, as always Maia's house was a mess, toys, clothes and food everywhere, her little siblings running around and screaming, and her dogs making the carpets dirty with their paws full of mud, Maia's mother looked at me and shouted from the kitchen.
***: Hey Yn! How are you?
Yn: I'm good Miss Moon!
She smiled at me; I was used to come to her house I was treated like family already.
***: Maia and Jake are upstairs; can you tell them to come here? I need help with the kids
I nodded
Yn: Of course, I'll be back!
She smiled at me, and I started to walk upstairs, I was feeling nervous and scared but I was already here, she needs to talk with me.
After I arrived the second floor I walked to the last door in a narrow hallways, I stood in front of a purple door and knocked on it twice, after a few seconds Maia opened the door.
Maia: Claire what do you wan-
She stopped her words when she saw me and then frowned, I took a look inside her room and saw Jake sitting in her desk writing something down, he looked at me and frowned too.
Yn: Hey-
Maia: Who let you in?
She said crossing her arms
Yn: Claire-
Maia: I told her to not let you in if you came
A door behind me opened, I turned around to see Claire peeking from her room
Claire: Yn is part of this family and I don't follow your orders
She then walked back inside her room and closed the door, I looked back at Maia who seemed irritated and annoyed
Yn: Maia can we talk?
Maia: What do you want to talk about? The fact that you lied to me? Or the fact that you kept secrets?
I sighed
Jake looked at us talk
Yn: Please listen-
She then walked inside her room and closed the door on my face, I frowned and I let a little rage take control over my decisions
Maia: Go away
Her voice came from inside of her room, it was hard to hear but I still managed
I walked closer to the door
Yn: I'm not leaving until you and Jake forgive me
Maia: Well then you better take a seat, you'll get tired of waiting
I frowned
Yn: Maia, stop acting tough, I know deep inside you care
Maia: ...-
Yn: I know you very well Maia, you're not angry at me, you could never get angry at me
Maia: ...-
Yn: We're best friends, I've been there for you when you tried to dye your hair green at three am, I've been there all the times Jake and you broke up, and I've been there when your siblings are driving you crazy!
Maia: ...-
Yn: We've been through a lot of things together, and you know I would never keep a secret from you
Maia: ...-
I walked even closer to the door
Yn: Maia, I didn't tell you because I wasn't ready, I was waiting for things to go by, I promise I was gonna tell you eventually, you know I would never lie to you!
Maia: ...-
Yn: It's true what Kirsten said, I'm a bad person and I shouldn't have kept it away from you, or anyone... I just... I wasn't ready to let you know...
Maia: ...-
Yn: It was something important and I should've told you!
Maia: ...
Yn: You know everything about me you really do...
Maia: ...-
Yn: You know that I'm scared of injections and hospitals in general, you know how much I want a pet but I'm scared of not being responsible enough, you know I hate sleeping with socks on, and you even know my secret recipe to make muffins!
Maia: ...-
Yn: I'm very sorry Maia
It stayed silent for a while, I felt like she wasn't gonna forgive me so I took a few steps back ready to leave the house with my heart cracking slightly, however in the last second the door opened letting me see Maia next to Jake standing in front of me, Jake was sobbing and Maia laughed.
Maia: ...I do know you hate sleeping with socks
I laughed, she then came closer to me and hugged me, Jake kept sobbing
Jake: Such a cute friendship
I laughed at Jake
Maia: Aw babe stop sobbing!
Jake stopped and then laughed
Jake: Sorry It's just, her apology was beautiful and I get emotional-
Yn: Do you forgive me?
Maia: Of course I do!
Jake: If she does then I do too
Maia: But we have some things to discuss
Yn: Yeah?
She pulled me inside her room and with an excited expression she said
Maia: I need full detail of that admirer
I laughed
Jake: Yeah, I want to hear the full story!
Yn: It all started in September...

Maia: And he kissed you?!
Jake: What the heck?!
Yn: Yup, at the dance
Maia: But you never saw his face?!
Yn: Nope
Jake: Man he's dumb to be an admirer!
Maia: Exactly! I can't believe I didn't see you dancing with him
Yn: Well it all happened so fast
Maia: And you're meeting up with him tomorrow?!
I sighed and nodded, after Maia's mother brought us some snacks, we sat down in the floor and I told both of them the whole story, Jake was shocked and Maia for some reason hated the admirer, it was curious and I wonder how would've they react if they had known before.
Maybe Kirsten was right, keeping this hidden from my friend was a mistake, Maia's opinions are the best.
Yn: Yup-
Jake: Dude, your admirer is very dumb
Maia: I know, right babe? He sounds so dumb!
I laughed
Jake: Why didn't he just- Confess to you in person?
Maia: He could have gone straight to the point and saved himself all that time writing letters!
Yn: The letters were sweet tho...
Maia giggled
Maia: Yeah we all saw how cheesy they were!
Jake laughed
Jake: True
Maia: Wait-
Yn: ...?
Maia: ...What about Albert?
Yn: I'll try and fix things with him and uh... hope for the best I guess
Jake: But what if you meet your admirer and fall for him?
Yn: What?
Jake: Yeah, imagine, you go to the park, and your admirer is Harry Styles or something
I laughed and Maia pushed Jake playfully
Maia: This isn't some fanfic Jake!
Yn: Well if he sings "adore you" for me then I guess I'll fall
Jake laughed
Maia: No! that would be terrible?
Jake: If her admirer is Harry Styles?
Maia rolled her eyes
Maia: No, if she falls in love with her admirer
Yn: Why?
Maia: Because we want you to be with Albert duh!
Yn: ...He's mad at me tho
Jake coughed
Jake: Can I tell you something Yn?
I looked at him expectantly for a couple of seconds
Yn: ...What?
Jake: Albert has liked you for two years
Maia gasped and I opened my eyes in shock
Yn: ...What?!
Maia: Why'd you say that now?!
Jake: Because Yn deserves to know! Especially now where everything is confusing
Two years? How's that possible?
Yn: What does that have to do with the admirer?
Jake: All I'm saying is, I don't think it's possible for Albert to hate you after this, he likes you a lot!
Maia: Whatever! This is the plan Yn, meet up with the admirer, reject him politely, make sure he's not a serial killer and then apologize to Albert...
Jake: He forgives you, and then you start dating...
Maia: Then you get married...
Jake: Then you buy a house
Maia: And have a thousand kids so I can be an auntie!
Jake: And Kaden will live in your basement
I laughed
Yn: Wait! Kaden I still need to talk with him!
I said and stood up
Maia: Where are you going?
Yn: To his house!
Jack: You might want to hurry, is getting dark
Yn: I will, bye guys!
Maia: Bye sister I love you
Jake: Bye gurl!
Yn: Bye love you too!
I then rushed downstairs, waved goodbye to Maia's family and stared at the sky for a while, it was a sweet blue color with pink details and white clouds moving, if I run, I can still make it to Kaden's and then buy my dad's sushi before it gets dark.
I inhaled deeply and imagined Usain Bolt giving me motivation words, I then started to run like I've never in life, people walking in the streets looked weirdly at me, and even some cops gave me bad looks probably thinking that I stole something, I kept running turning around, almost got hit by a bus, after a few minutes with the sky slowly turning a dark pink color I stopped in front of Kaden's house, I recognized it immediately, the white walls, the huge windows, the front yard filled with yellow flowers, my heart was beating fast, I placed my fingers in my neck and felt my heart rate going down slowly.
I'm fine
I said to myself, I recovered my breath, wiped the sweat out of my forehead with my sleeve and walked to the front door, I meditated silently my words and then rang the bell with my cold fingers, and waited a few seconds, the door opened letting me see a tall, skinny woman with dark brown curly short hair, she smiled at me brightly, I instantly recognized her as Kaden's mother, I could see the insides of her house, it was tidy and well decorated. Kaden's mom had a little obsession with cleaning and tidying the house... I also prepared my eardrums because, as you may remember, she liked to talk very loudly.
Yn: Hey Miss Fumblebottom!
***: HELLO LOVE! HOW ARE YOU?!
My ears were hurting already, I played it cool and smiled
Yn: I'm doing great! How are you?
***: I'M AMAZING, I'M TAKING THIS NEW YOGA CLASS AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE HOW RELAXING IT IS
Yn: That's great!
***: YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME!
My ears were bleeding already, I forced a grin and tried to get straight to the point
Yn: Sounds great! Uh, is Kaden home?
***: YES OF COURSE, HE'S IN HIS ROOM EATING ICE CREAM AND PLAYING ON THAT STUPID COMPUTER
I laughed softly
Yn: I really need to talk with him, it's very important
***: I'LL TELL HIM TO COME DOWNSTAIRS
I nodded and stepped back a few inches, I knew what was coming
Yn: Thanks-
***: KADEN FUMBLEBOTTOM GET YOURSELF DOWNSTAIRS RIGHT NOW YOUR FRIEND IS HERE!!
She shouted in like a two hundred decibels making my ears hurt and I heard a little ringing for a while, Kaden then answered shouting from his room.
Kaden: MOM STOP SCREAMING!
***: FIX THAT ATTITUDE AND COME HERE!
I heard a distant noise of a door opening and heavy steps coming downstairs, I noticed Kaden who walked towards us frowning
Kaden: What is it?!
***: YOUR FRIEND IS HERE
He looked at the door and noticed me, he seemed surprised and then frowned
Kaden: Mom, would you mind giving us some privacy?
***: SURE
She then walked away and Kaden stared at me for a while, he walked closer to me forcing me to back up a little
Yn: Hello
Kaden: Hey
He was serious and cold
Yn: Kaden I came to apologize
Kaden: For lying and hiding things from me I suppose
I looked down
Yn: What I did was wrong but I wasn't ready to tell anyone-
Kaden: But you were ready to tell Jack and Mark huh?
Yn: No-
Kaden: If you had favorite friends you should've just told me
Yn: Kaden-!
Kaden: After all those years of friendship, and you prefer telling your secrets to Mark? The dude who bullied you?
Yn: ...-
Kaden: I defended you several times, I helped you hide from Albert when he tried to make fun of you, I taught you everything I knew about Skyrim, and you hide things from me?
Yn: Kaden please just listen to me!
Kaden: You have five minutes
He said crossing his arms frowning, I inhaled deeply
Yn: I didn't tell Mark and Jack, they just found out by themselves, if you had found out I would've let you know immediately
Kaden: ...
Yn: And you know I don't have favorites, everyone has a special spot, you're my unique friend Kaden
Kaden: ...-
Yn: It was wrong keeping it for me, but I wanted to tell you on the right time and It was very selfish of me to kept it hidden
Kaden: ...
Yn: Kaden you're my best friend and you know I always tell you everything
Kaden: ...-
Yn: I'm sorry Kaden
Kaden looked at me with a straight face, after a few seconds of silence Kaden sighed and then said
Kaden: I was stupid for letting Kirsten manipulate me
Yn: ...-
Kaden: I don't care if you keep secrets from me, that's your decision, I was just hurt you had told Jack and Mark and not me...
Yn: I'm sorry...
Kaden: Of course I forgive you, idiot!
He said laughing, he then came towards me and hugged me tightly, I was starting to feel a lot better now, Kaden's hug was warm and comfy, I felt happy
Yn: I'm sorry Kaden
Kaden: That's fine, but next time some creepy stalker starts placing letters in your locker, call the police first, and then let me know
I laughed and we pulled apart
Yn: I'm guessing you want some explanation
Kaden: Come inside, and spill the tea
We laughed

Yn: And we're meeting up tomorrow...
We were inside his house now sitting in the couch and drinking hot chocolate, he stayed silent as I explained the story to him, after a few seconds he said
Kaden: And you'll finally know who he is...
Yn: Yay?
Kaden: Aren't you excited? I thought you liked him
Yn: Well-...
Kaden: Wait a second!
Yn: ...?
Kaden: OOOOOOH! So that's why you never went further with Albert!
Yn: Exactly!
Kaden chuckled
Kaden: That's so dumb Yn! You and Albert are perfect together! Who cares about some anonymous dude?
Yn: I mean... The admirer was very sweet and all but... I made up my mind
Kaden: So? What are you gonna do?
Yn: Meet him up and then uh-
Kaden: Open your heart?
I laughed
Yn: Exactly
Kaden: Your life's crazier than I thought
I laughed
Yn: It's not that much fun
He laughed
Kaden: Listen closely, tomorrow when you go and meet him, have your phone ready
Yn: Why?
Kaden: For all we know he can either be a kidnapper or a murderer!
I laughed
Yn: I don't think so
Kaden: We're in Florida Yn, everyone is either a psychopath or an animal
We laughed again
Yn: Well yeah, I'll have my phone ready
Kaden: And whatever happens, you text me, okay?
I nodded
Yn: I'll be fine
I said and looked at the clock
Kaden: You have to go?
Yn: Yeah, well-before it gets darker
I stood up; Kaden walked with me to the door and gave me one last hug
Kaden: I'm glad everything's fine now, you know I can't live without my best friend
I laughed softly
Yn: I can't either

After I waved goodbye to Kaden and his mother I walked outside and walked for a while in the road to the sushi place my dad likes, in the way I felt a lot of relive and calm now that Kaden, Jake and Maia forgave me.
Now's just Albert
The sky was slowly turning purple, the clouds passing by gave me a nostalgic feeling, of what my life used to be a few months back, how Albert and I just had fun together.
I never thought it would get messed up by the letters, I was really scared honestly, if I reject the admirer and then Albert doesn't forgive me for having a double life, my love life will bid farewell and never come back.
Even though I forced myself to believe that I already took a decision I was still wondering, what would a relationship with my admirer be like? Full of love, sweetness, and sparkles, like the couples from tv, and well since I've always compared Albert to something bad, I imagined a relationship with him being terrible, a mess, filled with fights and all.
And for some reason I still wanted a toxic relationship with Albert, at this point I don't care if my admirer is the fricking Chris Hemsworth.
I want Albert
"we could walk together after school, all the time"
"I could teach you how to play video games"
"and text me when you get home"
My mind was flooding with all the times Albert and I looked like a couple
"one last time"
"you can still try again, but with me next to you"
My heart was pounding with love and pain at the same time
I was in love and I hated it

After I ran like a maniac and bought the so-called sushi my dad wanted, I headed home, the sky was already turning dark blue and I arrived just in time, I stood outside of my house for a while and thought

After a few seconds a black Hyundai passed by, I sighed and walked inside.
