——————Flashback Chapter, Synopsis at end——————

Rex Lapis regrets many things.

His biggest regret however, was loving his child before they were even born.

Since he at one point cared immensely for his child and was always anticipating their arrival, he looked too far into the future and made a contract that would bind not only his fate and their own, but everyone in Liyue's all together.

He would never have imagined they would deteriorate into such a state. He had listened to civilians cries of missing loved ones and took note of dozens of posted commissions listed that begged for any information on their whereabouts. Never once did he suspect that it was (Y/N)'s doing.

That was until he came across them on his search for this strange abductor taking away innocent people from their families. It was obvious they were going through mental torment through all that time spent alone when the only thing they could trust in was their strength.

And that trust in their strength along with losing themself in their own thoughts led them to having this deranged mentality. One that made them begin to hate weak people and mortality as a whole as they devised a plan to cure the world of weakness.

Perhaps a little part of them even resented their mother at some point for how weak she was, but they still needed her back. They just wanted to hug her and feel warmth once again. They wanted everything to return to how it used to be, and knowing their power could potentially grant that, they would go to any lengths for their vision to succeed.

Looking back to when Rex Lapis had come to find the person who was abducting innocent people around Liyue, he had only found it was (Y/N) once he stumbled upon their domain.

As he had entered, his breath caught in his throat when walking into the main area.

"This is..."

Suspended by chains and encased in a giant amber rested the woman he had loved and lost, one he thought was buried back in Guili Plains, but was resting in front of him now. He knew that ability from anywhere— after all, he trained (Y/N) to be able to use it to its fullest potential and knew just what they were capable of with their vision.

Their power was displayed in front of him, and it was overwhelming. They were too strong and too mentally unstable for their own good.

Hearing footsteps, he had turned and saw (Y/N) enter into the main room from another room, a bundle of flowers in their hands falling to the ground and breaking some petals off from the impact.

The soft white petals slid across the ground, some flying up in the air from the impact and swaying side to side before they hit the ground with the others.

(Y/N) glared. "What're you doing here?"

Rex Lapis let his shaky eyes travel to them and back over to his deceased lover, his expression quickly turning from one of surprise to one of burning anger. He was furious when he began piecing everything together— the blood tainting the alter no doubt belonging to those who had gone missing. But most of all, he was being tortured by seeing her suspended up there, unable to rest peacefully in her grave because of (Y/N)'s attachment.

"No, that's not the question that should be asked! What're you thinking (Y/N)?!"

Never once did he yell or raise their voice at them, never once were they disciplined by him, so this alternative made them like being ignored far more.

Coincidently, there was never a time they remembered him saying their name.

Rex Lapis took in a deep breath and fought against his erratically beating heart, already knowing what he must do.

His attention focused on the suspended amber, and in an instant, before (Y/N) could stop him, he summoned his spear and launched it.

He had gripped the pole within his fist before he used his geo powers to send it spiraling with a force too fast for them to stop, though they had made an attempt.

The shattering of the glassy amber echoed throughout the domain and Rex Lapis felt his heart once again break into a million pieces along with the amber.

Rex Lapis was forced to witness his lover die a second time that day.

As (Y/N) desperately picked up the shattered pieces of Amber and tried to fit them back together, Rex Lapis took his leave.

"Rex lapis, do you regret it?"

Standing across from the tall man who had his arms crossed over his chest and eyes gently shut, the Adeptus skybracer was once again accompanying him. Ever since he was gifted the antlers, he has forever been grateful to Morax and had devoted himself solely to protecting him and anything he wished to protect— which in this case was Liyue.

Rex Lapis sighed before shaking he head back and forth, one of his arms moving from its rested position to rub his temple.

"How was I to know they would turn out like this? There were definitely measures I could have done to prevent it, but the contract has already been made and nothing can sever it since Celestia has eyes on it now."

Skybracer bobbed his head up and down, understanding where he was coming from and what his words meant.

"That decision of yours may just be Liyue's downfall you know." Skybracer mentioned, not even wanting to think about what may happen in the future.

"And I will do everything in my power to prevent that from happening."

"How will you go about doing that?"

"I'll confiscate their vision."

Skybracer's beady eyes widened significantly, though his head bounced as he immediately agreed that it was the right choice. Nonetheless, he couldn't help but let his thoughts run rampant as he grimaced at the worst case scenario.

"You may die trying."

Rex Lapis acknowledged his words with a hum, his heart beating with a pang of hurt traveling through it. Maybe if he had spent more time with (Y/N) as they grew up, he could have prevented this.

He didn't think he was doing that bad of a job as a parent. He made sure they were financially stable, had clothes that fit them, and even personally trained them to fight. Either way, relationship aside, it was his responsibility now to take care of them.

Even if he had to kill them, he would. Though knowing their strength paired with their vision, the likelihood of that happening was slim— even he knew that and he was feared for his strength. They were destined to become one of the strongest this world has seen, and that fate wasn't easy to fight against.

"That's why I must ask for you to lend your help."

Without hesitation, Skybracer had agreed to lend his assistance. "Of course."

"I have one more person in mind that may be able to assist."

——————♡——————

When Xiao was greeted with the presence of not only skybracer but Rex Lapis himself, he knew whatever they had to tell him had something to do with (Y/N). He had hoped whatever it was would be good news, especially after meeting (S/O/N) weeks prior and being infuriated with their stubbornness and choice to stay with them.

He would find that the news they brought was far more devastating than ones he ever thought he would hear.

Rex Lapis told Xiao everything they had been up to— emphasizing the parts in which the missing people the Yaksha and himself were investigating was due to (Y/N). And how those missing people were murdered by their own hands.

He couldn't believe it at first— he refused to believe it. However, he never voiced his disagreements and wholeheartedly believed every word that Rex Lapis told him without doubt. He just couldn't believe that they would resort to such things all because people ignored them— their sensitivity angered him to no end.

If he were in their position, he was sure he wouldn't do the things they did.

Nevertheless, he was blazing with anger and disappointment as he dug his nails into the palm of his hand thinking about everything that (Y/N) has done.

And so, he agreed to the plan. (Y/N) was not fit to have that vision and the immense power that came with it.

——————♡——————

(Y/N) twirled their (Color) gemmed Polearm between their fingers as they turned their body and avoided an attack homing in from their right while fending off Skybracer's horns.

They skidded backwards, feet sliding against the ground as their soles desperately gripped onto the floor to prevent them from slipping. (Y/N) grit their teeth as they clenched their fist even tighter around their polearm seeing the person they now hated the most in Teyvat. Previously, it was the man who killed their mother, but now it was none other than their own father.

Rex Lapis ran at them, the trinkets on his outfit chiming with every movement while his long clothing shuffled against the fast motion of his arms and legs.

His own polearm was gripped within his fists as he thrusted it in their direction.

He jabbed it aiming straight for their face. They turned their head to the right to avoid the stab from hitting them.

He aimed right and jabbed where their head moved, but they turned their head to the left.

He sliced his spear sideways to avoid them dodging from either side again, they ducked.

They rolled out of the way and swung their spear at Rex Lapis as Skybracer came from the side and attempted to stab them with his antlers.

They glared over at Skybracer, the one who had led them to believe their mother's murderer was alive and that they would be able to kill him despite the adeptus knowing he was already dead.

They once again swiped their spear but in sync with their vision and eyes beginning to glow, causing a ripple of amber spikes to shoot up from the ground, breaking the concrete of the floor as it became more intense the further away it got from them and closer to the two attempting their assassination.

Rex Lapis jumped in front of Skybracer as he created a huge golden geo force field to block the blast.

A shockwave went through him as he winced and lifted his hands out to push back against the attack, his feet digging into the floor desperately— not expecting this much strength from them. He thought he was giving them a little too much credit before, but his own words reigned true. They were far too strong for their own good, he should have cultivated their mental strengths as well and perhaps they would have never been in this situation.

Skybracer rushed in front of Rex Lapis and placed his sturdy horns against the barrier to stop if from breaking, already seeing cracks along the transparent barrier.

After that attack, (Y/N) wasted no time and turned their spear upside down as they faced the hilt upwards and stabbed their weapon into the ground.

The ground began to crumble as amber rippled and exploded beneath the surface, causing the top layer of concrete to shatter and rubble to bounce along the surface of the earth. The earthquake could only barely be felt from Mondstadt but there was still an impressive buzz. Tree's leaves shook in Liyue and people could feel the ground hum below their feet as they began to slightly panic, questioning just what the hell was going on.

Unable to maintain a stable foot hold and knowing the barrier wouldn't stop them from being caught in the underground attack, Rex Lapis released the barrier before jumping back away from one of the now collapsed entrances. Skybracer did the same, jumping in another direction as his hooves hopped from atop rubble to rubble to avoid being crushed.

There was another two exits that could be used, and knowing that, he inched towards one of them as he willed a giant meteor to be sent down at (Y/N) with the energy he had accumulated so far throughout the battle.

(Y/N) looked up at the giant object as its shadow covered them, and knowing they couldn't block it in time, they broke into a sprint. The meteor formed a crater once it hit the ground, however it had missed (Y/N). Not because of Rex Lapis being inaccurate, but because of (Y/N)'s reaction time towards something attacking them. They were born for themself to live and thrive, so naturally their instincts to protect themself were far more honed than the ones to protect others.

Skybracer popped up around a bit of debris and swiped at them with his antlers, however they pivoted their foot to dodge in time causing them to skid and unintentionally move towards Rex Lapis's direction.

Rex Lapis was readying to throw his spear, and having nowhere else to dodge to avoid the attack that could probably sink a small island if he wished for it to, they dived out of the exit that Rex Lapis was 'guarding'.

As they were met with the grass of outside, Rex Lapis willed his spear back into his hold and charged with Skybracer in sync outside after (Y/N).

(Y/N)'s spear glowed brightly as they charged up another attack, one they had accumulated tons of energy for. Their ultimate, one they were forbidden from using after the war because of how devastating the outcome was.

A tsunami of solid amber reaching heights on par with some of the mountains in Liyue began to form. Similar to the amber spikes from earlier that appeared out of the ground, it was smaller the closer they were to it, but as it moved forward, it became larger and larger. Rex Lapis clenched his jaw as he craned his head upwards towards the Tsunami and moved to avoid it, though he failed to consider its trajectory.

There was a civilians village in that direction behind the mountain the Tsunami was headed. Rex Lapis knew it would kill everyone there. The mountain couldn't hold up against a tsunami with a literal solid force— he knew there would not be a single survivor.

Suddenly, the shout of his comrade took him out of his thoughts that were already devising plans— ones that wouldn't guarantee success and would no doubt be incredibly risky.

"I've got it!" Skybracer shouted, loudly amongst the thundering sound of the amber tsunami roaring and destroying everything in its path. Rex Lapis was only barely able to hear it, but when he did, his eyes widened as he watched his comrade's actions.

Skybracer sprinted around the mountain, his hooves stepping on solid air he created before he dug his antlers against the mountain that was beginning to slide and would have crushed the hundreds of peaceful living civilians down there.

Rex Lapis's expression turned ferocious as he snapped his attention back over to (Y/N). It made him seem as if he were going to change into his dragon form and they were already half expecting the horns to appear.

Besides what (Y/N) thought he was going to do, he maintained his human form as he swiped out his hands causing pillars to rise up from the ground and begin to surround them. Their eyes widened upon recognizing the technique.

Despite everything, a pang of hurt and a stinging sensation hit their nose at the aspect that this technique was being used against them. It looks like he never loved them at all if he wouldn't hesitate to try and use such an ability.

(Y/N) dashed out of the strong seal before it could fully go through, already knowing Azhdaha was sealed in an exact replica and how even he couldn't break free. This was the one move they doubted they could get out of.

Rex Lapis clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth before he shot out yet another spear in the direction he assumed they would move in next, however they once again pivoted by thrusting their spear into the ground to stop their momentum.

When he missed, he willed the weapon to return to him, just as he did earlier. It had left a giant crater and the land was beginning to look unnatural and devastated.

Hearing heavy stomping coming from behind them, (Y/N) turned around with widened eyes having thought that they had already killed him off.

Skybracer, now antler-less, returned as he charged at them, his hooves slapping the ground loudly as blood spilled from his head.

As they anticipated an attack from either Skybracer in front of them or Rex Lapis behind them, they hadn't anticipated the appearance of a third party.

They should have anticipated it, after all, how was Skybracer able to dig his antlers out of his head? There was no way his hooves were capable of doing something like that— someone definitely must have wedged a blade into his head to pry them out.

A swift streak of teal and gold glitter passed them and they were just able to dodge being pierced by the owner's spear as it skimmed their cheek, tearing off a bit of skin. Their hand shot upwards to cup the wound as they winced before swinging their own spear in the direction of the attacker to get them to stay away and prevent them from getting closer, unable to tell who it was with events playing out so fast.

Things got quiet for a moment— it had been far too loud the moment Rex lapis and Skybracer stormed their domain to see (Y/N) already anticipating their arrival thanks to their vision. The world went silent at this moment in time, and (Y/N)'s breath caught in their throat in sync with that silence.

Standing a bit away from them, the person that had managed to get so close to them, was none other than one of their best friends, Xiao.

They hadn't even noticed that their weapon had dissipated into nothing— but they sure did when they saw what was in his hands. Their gold viciously glowing vision dimmed as he held it in his hand before clenching his fist around it, making sure he wouldn't ever let it go.

"This is all we need to accomplish for now, fall back." Rex Lapis demanded as he broke the silence, ignoring the heartbroken and betrayed expression on (Y/N)'s face.

"Right." Xiao confirmed with a nod of his head as he vanished with a streak of teal to Rex Lapis's side, who was already by Skybracer and was beginning to fizz out of sight by using a waypoint.

"Wait! Xiao!" (Y/N) shouted with their voice cracking as they reached a hand out to him.

Normally when he heard their calling, he wouldn't hesitate to be by their side.

But this time, he didn't even flinch.

They knew what that meant.

He had severed the connection that notified him whenever they would call his name.

They never felt the urge to throw up more.

Later that evening, Skybracer had been pronounced dead from his open wounds. He had saved a village of people and distracted (Y/N) enough so that their vision could be confiscated, but the result was that he had lost far too much blood and collapsed almost immediately when the three had made it to a trusted sanctuary.

His deeds would never be forgotten as Rex Lapis lit up a lantern to honor his deceased comrade, the vision angrily gripped within his hand the whole time.

Although (Y/N) could utilize the waypoints, they weren't reckless. Who knew what was waiting at quite literally any of them— surely no one on their side. And without their vision, their power was cut in half if not more.

They just wanted to live. They wanted that for others too, but look where that's gotten them.

——————♡——————

They were truly losing it all. Their mother, their vision, their friends, and their mind.

(Y/N) planned on leaving Liyue— tired of everything that was happening to them here and the trauma they sustained. They intended on taking (S/O/N) with them, with or without their consent. Even so, they had still asked as they stood around in the sea of clouds, holding down their anger with as much strength as they could.

"I'd go anywhere with you." Was (S/O/N)'s response.

That was great and all, but there was one last thing they needed of (S/O/N) to do before they left. That way they could stay together, forever.

(S/O/N) never knew what (Y/N) was the god of, not until they took them to a nearby village and captured a working man who was busy plowing the fields. The three had soon all found themselves in a nearby building that was used for the storage of crops and tools.

"P-please ! Please don't make me do this. (Y/N)! (Y/N), I love you! Please, please don't make me!" (S/O/N) cried as their hands shook, never even having held a weapon before in their life. The sword was sloppily held and bounced up and down in their hands as they looked over at (Y/N) with pleading eyes, the sound of another person whimpering entering their ears as well.

(Y/N) scoffed.

"That's pathetic. I could never love someone who can't do something as simple as pierce through some flesh."

(S/O/N) gasped as they felt as if their heart had been pierced, wanting nothing more than to wake up from this nightmare and be held in (Y/N)'s arms. They knew they would hold them if they just did as they said, but they didn't want to take another person's life to fulfill that desire.

Hearing the voice of the third person in the room, both of their attentions snapped onto him.

"Please, I'll do anything! Spare my life!" The man shouted as he held his hand flat against his bleeding thigh.

(Y/N) scoffed.

"As if I'd listen to the words of a mortal."

He winced and bit back a choking sob as he shook his head, knowing there was little chance he would be leaving with his life. However, when he heard footsteps and saw (Y/N) turn around, a spark of hope went through him thinking they were going to reconsider or leave.

Suddenly, they broke out into a grin that neither could see since their back was turned.

"However if you became immortal..."

(Y/N) stood in front of the rack and glanced over the items, grabbing a sword on the display before turning and tossing it over in the man's direction. It clambered onto the floor, the loud metal bouncing against the concrete ground making all attention go onto the weapon and the symbolic intentions it held.

(S/O/N) turned fearfully to look over at (Y/N).

"(Y/N), what're you doing, please no!"

The man's thoughts couldn't help but go to his wife and two children that were waiting for him at home. He lived in a poorer area where manual labor was practically mandatory for survival— he feared leaving them on their own and finding out he was murdered without ever knowing who his killer was.

He didn't even want to think of the life they would live if he wasn't there to help. He was too impatient to wait for them in the afterlife— he wanted to live with them in the present, and in order for that to happen, he needed to survive.

"Well? You'd be rid of your natural filth. Do it. I'm sure you were listening to what I told (S/O/N) before."

He was listening. To every word. And along the way, he had lost his respect for Rex Lapis and the miracle child of Liyue. But most of all, he feared (Y/N) and what they were capable of. A literal god was standing before him— what could a mortal like him do other than obey.

He knew what they wanted him to do. (S/O/N) whimpered as they watched him reach out for the sword and wrap his fingers around the handle.

It all happened so quickly. With a loud cry, the man rushed towards (S/O/N) and raised the sword to bring it down upon them, however their instincts were sharper than they gave themself credit for.

They fell to the floor in a 'W-sitting' position while the sword they held continued to be pointed upwards. The man, not expecting them to just drop like that since their legs had given out, had experienced a sword straight to the gut.

It pierced through organs, muscles, and ligaments, blood sliding along the hilt and down to (S/O/N)'s clenched fists. They could only stare in horror as the body leaned forward, piercing itself further against the sword as it began to fall forward. Having no choice but to pull the sword out and crawl backwards to not be crushed, the man had landed face first on the ground as a pool of blood began to surround him.

"I... I killed him." (S/O/N) mumbled as the tears that were pricking the corners of their eyes fell— non-stopping as a continuous flow streamed down their face.

It was silent for a moment as (Y/N) looked on proudly, sensing the soul had merged with (S/O/N)'s body. They listened to the cacophony of hiccups and cries for what had to be five minutes straight before (S/O/N)'s head began pounding and they couldn't get anymore tears out.

(Y/N) never once saw a cold or empty expression on (S/O/N)'s face until now. Just as (Y/N) was broken by others, they had enacted the same on another person.

It pained (S/O/N) to talk and their voice came out raspy.

"I knew you were a god, and I was okay with it... I loved you knowing I would die and you would go on living without me and possibly find new love. I was led to believe that you were this kind pacifist of sorts, but you lied to me. I could never love someone like you. I wish we never met."

The rant was ended with them raising the sword before they stabbed themself, thrusting the blade straight through their chest so that it pierced right through their heart.

(Y/N)'s lip upturned in annoyance as they watched the sword slide out, waiting until the wound patched itself up and they revived not long after. The blood coated sword sat just in front of them as they began desperately gasping for air. Their body warmed up as their heart began pumping blood again as they began to shiver while goosebumps covered their skin.

"Are you going to stop throwing a tantrum? Look, you wasted the life you were just granted from me. Now we've got to find you another one."

They ignored them before picking up the sword and attempted to stab themself again, however (Y/N) stopped the sword from piercing their neck as they held it in their bare hand, one fist clenched around the silver blade.

(S/O/N) didn't even glance up at them as they tried to pull it towards them to stab themself again, however their weak body was nothing compared to (Y/N)'s honed strength. The tight grip caused the sharp end of the sword to slice open the upper layers of their skin, however they didn't even wince as blood trailed up their arm.

Before (Y/N) could react properly not thinking for a moment that (S/O/N) was capable of doing such a thing, (S/O/N) opened their moth wide and stuck their tongue out before they comped down as hard as they could.

The pink muscle flew to the other side of the room from how desperately and hard they bit down, blood immediately squirting out of their mouth from the wound as their eyes shot open before they clamped their mouth closed as the blood slid down their throat.

They began to choke on their own blood, and to further their suicide, (Y/N) had unintentionally removed their hands off from the sword to help them stop choking, but they were continuing to bring it towards them. Like a rubber band, the sword snapped forward and pierced them right in between their eyes, brain matter and blood shooting out from how fast it was.

"HEY! What the hell?!" (Y/N) shouted as they struggled to choose which wound to focus on first, however realizing there was no chance in hell (S/O/N) was surviving this, they grew angry.

"(S/O/N)! You idiot!" They shouted as they stared with widened eyes at where the sword had lodged itself.

"You're dying!" They pointed out the obvious, and in (S/O/N)'s last moments of consciousness, they thought there was a hint of them genuinely caring for them and their well-being.

"Shit, I've got to save them"

As (S/O/N)'s eyes fluttered closed, as they felt themself lose grip on their life, the last sensation they experienced was those same eyes that were giving up being forced back open.

"I can't let them go to waste."

(Y/N) placed their finger on their recently diseased lover's eyelids and forcefully pried their eyes open only to see their pupils constricting and dilating, their brain trying to work functions despite it already being too late. They felt their own eyes sparkle seeing they were still in perfect condition, momentarily forgetting they had no more use for them despite them feeling  like they did when their only objective was to help their mother see again.

With their free hand, they reached out and placed their index finger on the unflinching eyeball. Their finger went to the skin around one of the eyes and peeled it back before letting go of one of the eyelids to focus on one at a time.

What remained in the end was sunken in eye sockets with no orb to hold its place.

"O-oh my god."

What (Y/N) hadn't know was that there was a witness to this whole event.

Yanfei muffled her sobs as she shook her head back and forth, wiping away tears desperately knowing she couldn't keep this a secret. She had come out here to prove that what everyone was saying about (Y/N) was a lie, and yet, she knew she could no longer defend them.

They agree, however before they go, (Y/N) tries to make them take someone's life to gain immortality. (S/O/N) doesn't want to, ends up accidentally killing the other person in defense, and then takes their own life twice so that they could actually die.
