Tomiwa POV
We were on to the next round, I and Ebuka. Lydia would have move on to the next round with us but unfortunately, it was just two people that could proceed hence Lydia had to be dropped.
"You did real good for us Tomiwa. I am so proud— hold on are you crying?"
Lydia ask me the minute I go off the stage. She gave me a raised eyebrow but I just took my Handkerchief to dab my tears - which by the way was in my bra throughout the whole performance. She smiled at me and hugged me and I immediately relaxed as my tears dried up on it own. After they announced that I and Ebuka were moving to the next round, Lydia gave me another hug squealing congratulations.
Ebuka joined in too to and to make it one big group up, everyone one, our back up dancers joined in as well.
"Come on guys, I hear our favorite power couple, Emmanuella and kevin are leading in the Academic. Let's go watch them."
Ebuka said once we all pull away from the hug. There was a hall directly opposite where the music aspects of the competition was holding on. We got there and found a way to squeeze ourselves between chigozie and faruq who where sitting in front. Emmanuella and Kelvin were crushing it as usual but their opponents from Forrester Academy were crushing it like crazy as well. I read their names in front of the small podium they were standing on
Kesiena Uloho And Donald Ogbemudia they were representing their school for Science and Art, while Emmanuella and Kelvin were doing the same for our school. From where we sat they look really tensed, I guess it's because they have both been tied up for more than an hour now and the game is dragging more than it suppose too.
"WHEEW WE ARE ALL TIED UP, THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE A TOUGH TIE TO BREAK. BUT HERE IS A TIE BREAKER QUESTION."
I heard the moderator for the program say and I looked up paying more attention. He keep on throwing tie breaker questions, but the students Kesiena Uloho And Donald Ogbemudia of Forrester Academy were really good. Emmanuella and Kevin were too stubborn to back down either. At some point the contestants had to go on a short break so they could have a meeting on how to take the other team down.
" what do you think they are talking about."
I asked Lydia innocently, but before she could respond the moderators mic boomed again and we had to listen.
"THE NEXT QUESTION IS GOING TO BE A FINAL TIE BREAKER. IF WE ALL GET THE QUESTIONS RIGHT THEN, WE WOULD HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO MOVE THEM TO THE NEXT ROUND."
Well this is going to be a lot tricker than I thought. Just as i had Suspected on one lost so they all moved to the next round. I am sure the question for the next round are going to be alot tougher this time around, so at least two people could loose so the winner will be identified.
" congratulations Emmanuella . I guess you really are tougher Than you look."
" thanks Kesiena, you are also one tough nut to crack."
I over heard kesiena and Emmanuella talking. I was taking aback that the were congratulating each other. If I'm being honest I half expected they would be At each other's necks by now. I got close to congratulate them while Ebuka, Lydia, Kelvin, and kesiena's Patner Donald were having a conversation not to far of.
" Hey, Tomiwa, how Did the music completion go, who won."
I smiled at kesiena and she gave a calm and even more cheerful attitude and vibe towards me. I nodded and Mumbled a little 'Hi' to her before responding to Emmanuella's questions.
" oh it was, it was alright, we won. Well, me and Ebuka. Unfortunately Lydia doesn't get to move to the next round."
" Really? oh that's too bad. Well what about my team, I know we are terrible singer but come on, tell me some one move to the next round from my team."
I was taken aback because that was Kesiena talking, was she talking me, a goddess like her talking to an orphan like me. Gawd she Is sooo pretty, is it her eyes, her nose, the cute buds in her ear, goodness thats like the icing on the cake for me.
" hello earth to Tomiwa??? Emma is your friend Drooling over me right now?"
"Ummm even I am too shocked to understand, but it appears soo."
Emmanuella answered pitching me a little to make me wake up from what ever it was I doing. I cleared my throat giving them a plus lips smile before saying.
" umm sorry about that, I never thought that you could look this pretty, and still have a prettier personality."
She busted into laugher obviously not taking me seriously. When she noticed I was just standing there awkwardly and not saying anything, she finally got the message that I was serious.
" oh your, ehemm serious, well I don't know, Gods gift maybe."
I smiled, and before Emmanuella got the chance to speak Kelvin came to join us. He sneakingly gave her a peck on the cheeks and this got her blushing. Even I was blushing on her behalf as Kelvin huged her from behind. When kesiena notice I was feeling uncomfortable she tapped me with her elbow and said
"So, you still havent answered, who won form my school."
"Oh yea. I think Eno and Rebecca won."
At the mention on their name the two of them showed up . I greeted them and we all exchanged pleasantries until Kelvin spoke up with an idea of us going out. Every one was for the idea except me, I guess I was feeling a little insecure that I was still the new student and I've never meet this people before. I was so lost in thought that I didnt even know they were already leaving me in the hall. It was until Ebuka mumbled looking around for me like a needle in a haystack did everyone realize that I wasn't with them
" Hey Tomiwa, aren't you coming?"
" Yea, you should come with us"
Eno said looking at me like we have know each other for years. I don't know what to make of there friendly nature, was this how warm, lively and accommodating people of Forrester Academy are. Whao i am really Impressed, really, back in my old school, when a competition like this was going on it's every man for him self, every team for himself .
" hello! earth to Tomiwa!."
" urrr, Emmanuella are you sure your friend is okay, she's seems a little, umm how do I put this gently"
Kesiena said after Kelvin called my name to get my attention. I smiled at them both before walked up to meet them. They all still had a worried look on there face, so I had to say something to break the ice to change the look on their face.
" why do you guys look so worried? I am fine guys, I was just try to figure out who was going to foot the bill."
They eased up a bit, some even chuckled, I heaved a sigh of relief as I walked beside Ebuka. I may not know this people, kesiena and her friends from Forrester Academy, and the changes of us meeting again in future is Very slim. But the little minutes I get to spend with them, to talk to them, is something I would definitely cherries. I had no idea a huge smile was on my face until Ebuka Commented saying .
"This one you are smiling now, penny for your thought"
"I half expected students from Forrester Academy to be mean and bossy, but them being the opposite of that--"
Ebuka smile and surged it off. We all entered the space bus that Forrester Academy brought into the school. It was until the driver asked where we were going before we realized we had nowhere in mind.
After a while of awkward silence Eno asked me our of the blues saying
"Where do you suggest we eat at Tomiwa?"
" hmmm, I've always wanted to try the food at Bukka Hut"
And without any questions asked, we headed to Bukka Hut while de the song titled life of the part by Shawn mendel blasting on the stereo.
