Eric's pov

Waking up next to Cebell made me feel different. It made me feel whole again. The missing pieces to my life are finally fulfilled. She brought something back inside of me that I never thought I had.

Ambition and love.

She is the one that keeps me going. Ever since we crossed paths, it has changed us both. And for the better. I think there were a few times when we crossed paths, and she didn't even know it. I could only recall one time that I had seen her. It was the middle of the night, and I decided to take the subway back to the agency. The case was going cold, and there was hardly a lead. I needed to find a certain file.

When she entered the subway, I could have sworn I saw something in her. I didn't know what it was, but her scent threw me off. At the time, I didn't know she was half-vampire and half-human.

Staring at her serene face made my heart flutter a bit. I knew this was the day we would make our final stand against all of the vampire kind. Not only to bring back the sun but to free and revive all of humanity.

I gently slid myself out of the covers, trying not to wake her. As much as I wanted to stay with her forever just at this moment, I still had things to do.

I silently made my way across the room and got dressed. I pulled out a new suit and went to the washroom. After showering, combing my hair, and getting dressed, I heard a knock at the front door. I stood there for a second. The knocking continued.

It was quite odd for anyone to be showing up at eight in the morning.

I opened the door cautiously to see, Madeline.

"Madeline, I thought I told you long ago, 'not to seek me out.'" I placed a hand on the frame of the door. If she was going to try something, she was not going to get away with it.

"Relax, 'Prince Charming', I'm not here to hurt you or your girl," she rolls her eyes. I highly doubt that, after all, she's sleeping with Ivan.

"Eric?" I heard a familiar voice. My head slowly turned back to see Cebell, but of course, she put something on.

"Madeline?" Cebell stood at the bedroom doorway and continued to wipe the sleep away from her eyes.

"Back to what I was saying. . ." Madeline crossed her arms.

"Sweetheart, go back to bed, I'll be right there." I gave her a reassuring smile. She nodded and closed the door. Why did I just call her that? I mentally cursed to myself.

I turned my head back to Madeline and decided to hear what she has to offer.

"So. . . Home run already?" she questions with a sly smirk. I rolled my eyes and tried to ignore the werewolf. She knew how to start a conversation. Sarcasm noted.

"Madeline. She almost died because of Ivan, do you even understand who you're sleeping with?" I questioned. Why did Madeline have to go into detail?

"So you claimed her as your own? Ha! What a saint. You took her under your wing, only to get her killed." Madeline smirked. I was already starting to get annoyed with her. What did she mean by that?

"Enough with the games. What did you really come for?" The feeling of being scorched alive in lava, sizzling, bubbling. That is how I feel right now. She pushed my buttons too many times.

We once were friends, but that is long gone now!

"I came here to help you." I then raised my eyebrow at her explanation. This is about to get interesting.

"Here." she then handed me a silver pistol. I took it out of her grasp and started to examine it.

"This is made from silver crossed steel, where did you get this?" I asked with a hint of astonishment. The gun is different from all the rest I have seen. The only ones I have ever seen were the ones that kill vampires and werewolves.

"It has just been created. Handcrafted to only kill things, not from this world, such as necromancers and spirits."

"Thank you. I'll use it if I have to." I was about to close the door when she wedged her boot in between the door and the frame.

"That gun is not for you." I then ripped the door open once more, nearly tearing it off the hinges.

"It's for your girl. Wasn't her name, Stella?" I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"Cebell.-"

"Yeah, yeah." she waved her hand and moved on to another topic.

"I know you both won't be working as a team, not this time. Ivan is planning to meet you, and the necromancer will be there as well. Ivan wants to distract you, while the necromancer calls upon the dead. Once he calls upon the dead, he will try to make the sun permanently disappear. Give the gun to, Cebell, and she'll know what to do." I couldn't believe it. Madeline is going behind Ivan's back and telling me what his big plan is.

Could she be lying?

"Well, I'll be seeing you! And don't forget, to go to Saint Patrick's Cathedral." she waved her hand and walked away. I gently closed the door and walked back into the bedroom.

I saw how she was sitting at the end of the bed and combing her hair. Did she have time to wash up that fast?

"If you would have stayed in there a little longer, I would have come to join you."I leaned dramatically on the frame of the doorway. A small smile crept up the corner of her pink lips.

"If I would have only known." she chuckled.

I sprang myself off of the doorway and made my way toward her.

"We're going to the Saint Patrick's Cathedral. I will go into further detail when you are dressed." I am sure she knew where to find a pair of clothing.

"Is it this bag?" she held a black bag in her hand. How could I forget? Of course, I had to take care of her.

I nodded.

"Let me know how it fits." I then seated myself at the end of the bed. She nodded and walked over to the washroom.

After waiting a bit, she finally came out of the washroom. I tried picking out her size for every piece of clothing for the outfit. The door of the bathroom finally opened. No complaints? Happy life, happy -- wait a second, that doesn't work yet.

"So? What do you think of it?" she gave me a small spin. I couldn't help but smile and lick my chapped lips. She does look ravishing.

"Beautiful." I took her hands into mine and leaned close to her ear.

"Not to mention, we are matching." I leaned back and gave her a small wink.

A small gasp escaped her lips as she gently slapped my chest.

"I should have known." she chuckled.

* * * * * *

"Now, what is our plan again?" I asked her to repeat our plan. Since I didn't have a car, we decided to walk there. I figured we would have enough time to go over it.

"You take care of Ivan, and I'll figure out a way to shut down the necromancer's plan." she continued to keep it simple and explain thoroughly.

Cebell's pov

The sacred building of the large, white cathedral is now in sight. This is it. Our final stand. I am confident that we'll bring back the sun. But if it costs my life, it was worth it.

We finally stopped in front of the cathedral and turned towards each other.

"I guess this is it. I'll see you on the other side." I couldn't help but smile. We've gotten this far, we cannot give up now. Not now, not ever.

"Yeah, I just wanted to tell you-." Before the last words escaped my lips, a heavy impact hit Eric and threw him into a car.

"Eric!" I screamed and started running towards him. Ivan held Eric's throat and continued to push him into the car. Every second, the frame of the car continued to cave in.

Eric fought to get Ivan off of him. He dug his feet into the concrete below and dug his nails into Ivan's shoulders. He gritted his teeth as his eyes started to glow bright blue. With all of his might, he shoved Ivan off of him and sent him flying into the concrete road.

Ooh! That's going to leave a mark.

When Eric's eyes met mine, I could see the power that flowed through his veins.

"Don't worry about me! Get inside and shut it down!" I nodded and sprinted towards the cathedral.

I hated to leave Eric, but I knew what I had to do.

I quietly opened the door of the cathedral and slid inside. The atmosphere was unsettling and creepy. At the end of the cathedral is the necromancer, and... Madeline?

I knitted my brows and hid behind a bench.

I leaned my head slightly over the bench and tried to get a good look at what is going on. Something not of this world stood at the end of the altar. Countless marble beams ascended from the floor to the ceiling. Rows and rows of benches continued down to the end of the sacred building. Huge stained-glass windows hung on each wall of the cathedral.

The room was lightened up with nothing more than candles. Dark spirits continued to swirl around the room. Crosses are tipped upside down and set in a position that disrespects religion.

At the end of the altar stood a man in a cloak. Correction, a spirit. He held an old leather book that had chains hanging off it. The spirit continued to chant words, not of this world.

He let the book slip from his hand as it continued to float. A weapon then appeared in his hand. A blade that had a bit of a curve to it.

Madeline stood there frozen in place. With no movement at all, she continued to scream at the Necromancer. He continued to inch closer and closer to her.

Suddenly, half of her body turned into a werewolf form. The black fur, golden eyes, and sharp claws really got to me. I never knew she was a werewolf.

What's next, angels and demons? Possibly a Windigo?

Panic soon started to rise from my gut. I can't just sit here and do nothing! I won't let Madeline die. I know she's on Ivan's side, but I am not the kind of person to leave her to die!

A cross between a scream, a growl, and a howl, echoed through the church as one of her claws was pried off her paw.

I sprang up and grabbed the gun from my boot. There was no time left. I needed to get this thing off of Madeline.

I remembered my brother teaching me how to shoot. He brought me to a gun range, and surprisingly, I was good at it. But not as good as him.

He told me small pieces of who my father was. I didn't know if I believed him. He kept talking about how he was some sort of mystery man who swept my mother off her feet one day. But it wasn't that long ago that he disappeared. He disappeared when I was two. I hope I get to meet him one day.

My mind soon brought me back to reality. I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger. The bullet escaped the champer and cut through the air. I watched as it travelled through the air and hit the Necromancer in the shoulder.

A loud ear-piercing sound escaped his mouth. His shoulder started to sizzle and bubble.

He placed his bony hand on his shoulder and spun around. A loud boisterous scream escaped its lips. Every window of the cathedral, burst into shards of glass. Rows of benches flew back and tore in half. I bolted to the side, hoping it wouldn't hit me.

I took my stance at the end of the aisle as the necromancer took his position. His cloak obscured his face. But the glowing purple eyes weren't any better.

Within a split second, he summoned the dead.

You had to be kidding! How am I supposed to kill something already dead?

The air started to smell more fowl than how it already is. The smell of rotting autumn leaves filled my nostrils. Rotten and decay, I was never going to get that smell out of my nose.

This was getting freaky.

I nearly jumped out of my skin when they started running towards me. My instincts started to kick in. What do you do when someone is about to hurt you? You either run or try to defend yourself. My mind was telling me to run, but my body told me differently. I held up the gun and started pulling the trigger.

My arms continued to shake and it continued to throw off my aim. Just when I thought I was a good shot. Finally, I nailed one. Just as I was about to celebrate, another one was summoned.

You had to be kidding!

Eric's pov

The streetlamps burned through the cloak of the fog. It was getting more and more difficult to fight Ivan. Continuously, he kept playing games. One minute he's fighting me with all of his strength, and the next, he's playing like a coward.

I started to listen with my ears to where he could be. Even the slightest sound made my ear twitch. I listened closely to the echoing sounds around me. My body continued to remain calm and collected.

Out of nowhere, a loud ear-splitting scream escaped the cathedral. Every window blew to pieces. I hope Cebell killed that thing, otherwise, that doesn't sound good. Maybe I should have fought the necromancer, and she fights Ivan.

I suddenly heard a swift motion through the air. Within a second, I spun around and caught Ivan's arm as he let his other arm nail me in the jaw. An excruciating amount of pain stuns my jaw.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked as I continued to block his shots.

"You know why. Your brother was supposed to be my son, but until I found out about that whore went back to your father!" he shouted. I soon brought up my knee and it smacked hard into his gut. I grabbed him by the shoulders and slammed him into a car door.

I was soon tossed back and thrown to the ground. The pain continued to ascend through my back like many fine glass needles piercing through.

Slowly, I leaned my head up to look at him. He slammed his hand through the passenger's window and pulled a large piece of glass from the window. Blood continued to drizzle down his hand as he inched towards me. He had the look of murder written on his face. God, I hope Cebell is having better luck.

Cebell's pov

I dashed behind one of the marble pillars and tried to reload the clip I had. With one click, I was ready to go. A sharp pain scrapped down my face and arm. The burning sensation continued as I realized it continued to claw me. Its amber eyes continued to glow with an attitude of ill-disposed.

One after another, I continued to take down one at a time. But every time one died, another would be resurrected. Do they ever die? I mentally screamed.

"The book! Shoot the book!" Madeline finally shouted. She could have been helpful in the beginning. I started sprinting towards the book. The necromancer soon followed my trail and sent a large cross my way. I slid on the marble floor and shot a bullet at the book.

A purple explosion soon echoed through the cathedral, sending the necromancer and me flying. Luckily, I didn't smack into anything hard than a bible stand.

I took a second to regain my composure. My vision was fuzzy and everything sounded like it was underwater. My head pounded like a drum. I was quite amazed at my ability to fight. It must have been the advanced abilities I gained when Eric turned me.

The second I was okay, I slowly started lifting myself off the ground. God, everything hurts so much! I feel like I can't even breathe.

I took my time getting to Madeline.

"You alright?" I asked, then leaned against a pillar.

"I should be asking you that question," she chuckled.

My gaze soon was brought back to the necromancer. He elevated himself off the floor without a sweat. This was far from over.

"How do I kill this thing?!" I shouted over to Madeline.

"Another bullet should do it. After all, they are filled with holy water." I then knitted my brows. So that's why they burned.

The necromancer soon chanted a few things and disappeared.

 Please, not the disappearing act.

I carefully looked around the room. My breath hitched when I looked toward the ceiling. Multiple dark spirits continued to fly around the ceiling. My legs started to shake when they all stopped. With the dead staring at me, I quickly turned my gaze to Madeline.

Before I could say anything, everything went black. Fear rose from the pit of my stomach and continued to spread throughout my body. The gut-retched feeling of being blind filled my mind with panic.

"What's going on?!" I panicked.

Madeline then looked at me oddly. She knitted her brows and stared at me.

"Considering a whole flock of spirits came at you, you should be worried." Madeline rolled her eyes.

"No! I don't think you are seeing the big picture. I can't see a thing! I am blind!" I felt like I wanted to scream right now. I hated this feeling. I didn't want to be blind. I didn't want to have this forever!

"Oh god. . ." Madeline brought a hand up to her mouth. She backed up and her back bumped into a bible stand. The book then made a loud echo through the room.

Suddenly I heard a noise in the air. Then another.

A picture suddenly flashed through my mind. For a mere second, I thought I could see again.

"Your eyes. . . They're glowing." Madeline spoke in awe. Was this a part of my awakening? Now, it was almost like I could see anything. Even a single sound made a purple light outline the room for a mere second. It reminded me of radar vision, something that bats have.

I then lifted my foot and stomped it down. I watched the air for this necromancer.

"Where are you?" I whispered to myself. I continued to bring up my foot and stomp it down. This continued for several minutes until I saw it behind a pillar.

"There you are," I mumbled. With a smile curving on my face, I started sprinting towards it. I knew I was running out of bullets, and I couldn't afford to miss a shot.

When I took the shot, I knew this is going to be the end of him. I stopped in my tracks to see another vanishing act. Each time I took a step, it would light up my path.

"Um. . . Madeline? I don't have any bullets left." I couldn't help but feel a pit in my stomach start to form.

"Crap. . ." she mumbled under her breath. Madeline then took a second to glance around the room. She then spotted something that could be useful.

"Lure it towards the entrance. The gun is also made to sound loud. So it will sound like there are still bullets left," she explained. I could tell that this necromancer didn't know how to react besides when it feel threatened.

I continued to walk around slowly until I got to the front of the altar. I finally spotted it in the middle of the aisle.

This is my last chance.

Madeline took the chance to get to the doorway and picked up the item. I didn't know what she had in her hands. Whatever she had planned, I was hoping this will work.

With each step, I pulled the trigger. Without the necromancer's book, he's useless. The loud blast continued to echo through the room, making him jump back. I made it look like I missed each shot.

Just a bit closer. I thought.

Finally, Madeline threw whatever she was holding, onto the necromancer. A loud blood-curdling scream echoed through the church. It continued to sizzle and burn away until it was nothing but a pool of black matter.

It took a second before my vision finally came back. Oh, how I was thanking every god out there for giving my vision back. At that moment, I finally saw what Madeline threw at the necromancer. She threw holy water at him.

"I'm glad that's over with." I chuckled. I couldn't help but laugh at this moment. I never thought that something so demonic could make the cathedral turn upside down.

"Were not done yet. You still have to reverse the necromancy that has already been done." Madeline spoke, then led me to the front of the alter.

I then furrowed my brows and looked at what she was looking at. A large, ancient sundial sat at the front of the church. A bronze stain of blood was on the front of the sundial. Looks like someone was already here.

"What do I need to do?" I turned my head towards her.
