Warning: mention of ending one's self

You walked home, feeling a bit deflated. You helped Freddy clean up, and you covered for him too. Freddy wanted to hang out after school, but you couldn't, you had to get something.

You stopped in front of the flower shop, walking inside after a minute of staring at it.

You bought your father's favorite flowers.

⁂~★~⁂

"Freddy? Freddy? Please!" Darla whined, stretching out each word dramatically. "No, Darla. I don't feel like it." Freddy answered. He was walking Darla and himself back home. He wanted to take a shower, especially after being dunked into the toilet head first.

"Please! Only ten minutes! Please, please, please, please, please please please please!" Darla only continued to jump up and down, say please every single second. Freddy finally let out a long sigh.

"Okay, fine. Ten minutes. I'll set a timer." Freddy said. "Yeah!" Darla squealed. They were going to walk past the park anyway, might as well let Darla get her energy out.

Freddy walked into the park, sitting down on a bench nearby the playground, to rest his leg mostly. He watched Darla playing with some other kids. He smiled to himself, then frowned.

He remembered when he was younger, he would always want to play tag, or hide and seek, but no one wanted to play with him. He would get caught easily, and he wasn't fast enough to find a hiding spot. Kids are mean, he knows that, but it still affected him.

He thought everyone his age was mean and stupid, until he met you of course. You were so nice to him, you treated him like a person. Freddy sighed a bit, for some reason, his heart pounded hard in his chest. It's not the same as thinking of a crush, it seems deeper than that. But Freddy couldn't quite find the right word to find to describe it. It was so strong, this feeling.

He just shrugged it off though. You were nice and pretty, so far away from his league. Whatever he felt for you, you surely didn't feel the same way.

Freddy leaned back on the bench, heaving out a heavy sigh. He wonders what you're doing right now.

That's when something caught his eye. He turned to look up the hill, a couple trees surrounding a certain area that was fenced in. But coincidentally enough, you were the one opening the gate and walking into it.

He couldn't see your face, but he knew it was you because of the outfit you were wearing. Freddy bit his bottom lip, watching you disappear behind the thick trees. He glanced to you, then to Darla, then back to where you entered.

Freddy got up, walking past Darla. "I'll be up there, okay?!" Freddy called to her. Darla giggled while talking with another girl her age nodding. "Okay! Bye Freddy!" Darla waved, not even looking at Freddy.

Freddy struggled as he walked up the hill, but he made it up. Freddy was wondering what this little area was for a while now. He thought it was a garden, or maybe a dog park. But it was neither.

As he let out a puff of air, he straightened his posture, looking at the area in front of him. His heart sank as he stared at the area.

It was a graveyard.

Freddy glanced around quickly, looking for you. But there was a lot of trees and greenery in the graveyard, he would have to go in to find you. Freddy gulped, before walking in.

Why were you here? Did someone you know died? It had to be, unless you were doing a ritual or something.

Freddy aimlessly walked through the maze like graveyard, looking around at all the different decorated tomb stones and flowers. Finally, after walking to the very back of the graveyard, he heard sniffling.

This part of the graveyard was so beautiful and peaceful. All the trees were surrounding the area, no one would be able to tell that beyond the trees was a city park.

Freddy wasn't concerned about the greenery though, he was concerned about you. Were you the one sniffing? It had to be.

He quickened his walking pace, almost tripping over his own feet to find you. Finally, he came to a halt, panting heavily as he stared.

There you were, a bouquet of flowers laid across a grave stone, and you were knelt down on the ground, crying. Freddy took in a sharp breath. It was hard to hear your cries of sorrow. He was also curious on who's grave stone you were crying over. But he didn't worry about that right now, he just needed to make sure you were okay.

Freddy limped towards you. Even though his walking was pretty loud, you didn't seem to notice at all. Your face was buried in your knees, your hands wrapped around your body. You were trembling.

He couldn't take it, seeing you like this. He finally made it to you, and he looked over your shoulder, reading the grave stone.

'In loving memory of D/n L/n
From 1985
To 2017
In loving memory of a son, uncle, husband, and father
May you Rest In Peace'

Freddy gulped. It was either your uncle or dad. Either way, from how much you were crying, he could tell it was someone you cherished deeply.

"Y/n." His voice was soft, and a bit quiet, scared he might somehow hurt you with his voice.

Your head shot up, and you turned around only to see Freddy. Your eyes were puffy and red, tears smeared all over your face. "Freddy..? What are you.. you.." you sniffled, wiping your tears away. You turned your back towards him, not wanting him to see you like this.

Freddy, for once, was silent. He didn't know what to say, he wasn't sure what to say. He didn't want to run his mouth like usual, he didn't want to say anything that could upset you even more.

So, he simply sat down beside you. Freddy stared at the grave stone, rubbing his fingers together. "Uncle?" Freddy asked hesitantly. "No.. father.." you replied. "Oh," Freddy said. "I'm sorry." He said honestly.

He knew what it was like to lose parents, even if he didn't like his own. It still hurt that his only relatives were being buried with the worms and mud.

"Not your fault." You shrugged. The tears had stopped coming out, but your face was still red and swollen from all the crying. "I know. It just, sucks when someone you love dies." Freddy said, staring at the ground.

You couldn't help it, the tears started to flow out again. You grit your teeth, wanting to stop crying, wanting to stop acting so weak in front of someone. But Freddy was more concerned if he had hurt you.

"I'm sorry, I didn't— I didn't mean to make you cry." Freddy said, his hands automatically going to your shoulder, as some sort of reassurance. "N-No... I just.. you just.. I can't.." you couldn't speak over your sobs.

You grabbed Freddy's hand, the one that was on your shoulder. You held it, as some reassurance for you. To know that you were okay.

Freddy, on the other hand, blushed. You held his hand so gently, it was magical. He pushed his feelings to the side. He shouldn't be getting all giddy inside right now. You were in pain.

Freddy scooted closer to you, wrapping his other arm around your shoulder. You leaned into the touch, hiding your face in your hands.

In this moment, you cried in Freddy's arms. You don't even cry in front of your regular friends, let alone someone you just became friends with. But you felt safe. You felt like the world around you could be crumbling, but you would still feel safe.

You continued to cry, and cry. It was five minutes— that felt like five hours— that you stopped crying. You wiped away your tears, rubbing your eyes as you sniffled. You pulled away from Freddy, but you still held his hand.

"Here," Freddy said suddenly. He pushed his hand into his pocket, pulling out a tissue. "Here you go." He handed it to you. You let go of his hand, grabbing it and blowing your noes. "Thanks Fred.. you're a really good person, you know that?" You complimented him suddenly.

Freddy wasn't prepared. "I— um— thank you." He flushed. You smiled at Freddy. He was such a dork, you really like him for that.

You looked back at your dad's grave stone, letting out a sigh. "Mind if I ask.. what happened?" Freddy questioned slowly, like you were a scared animal.

"He um..." you trailed off. "He was seriously depressed. So he uh, he offed himself." You stated, without mentioning any of the details. "I'm so sorry.." Freddy apologized, again.

"He just.. he just left. He didn't even bother to say goodbye, or leave a note, or nothing!" You started, already feeling the sob coming back. "He always acted like he was okay.. why did he do that?" You asked, more to yourself then to Freddy. You turned to Freddy, staring at him as he stared at you. "Why..?" You whispered, hiding your face in your knees as you started to cry again.

Freddy stayed still, not sure what to do. Should he hug you? Should he do the same thing he was doing earlier? Should he reassure you? What should he—

His brain stopped for a moment, feeling your hand grab his. Your face was still hidden, but he could sense your neediness for his warmth. Freddy held your hand, rubbing circles over it gently, as you let it all out.

You needed his comfort, and Freddy was there for it.
