ROSIE'S POV
Its been a week since I have started working, and so far the predictable has happened.
the stares of doubt and judgement of my fellow coworkers
and hatred from the eyes of my boss
its quite discouraging, however I am sure with time I will win them over, once they see I am just as hard working as the rest of them
I don't expect to be friends but it would be nice.
on another note I have learned quite few things from my boss
he has made it his mission to get me to quit, the constant demands and changes in his plans, errands for ridiculous coffee orders, and indecisive plans at first I had they had all been done on purpose, that this was one of his tricks, but then I noticed, it wasnt just a trick but he was truly indecisive.
he had a routine down but it was a routine that lacked the important details it was quite messy
like what his go to drink is, what task he should start off first with, how long he should spend on a specific task, ect.
he ordered multiple random coffee's cause he couldn't pick just one or he never finished his coffee cause he didnt know what type he liked, he always changing his plans, cause he doesnt know how to organize himself, and he keeps redoing the plans because he doubts they are good enough
I can see why the petrova's wanted him to get a assitant he needed one bad
what I need to do is bring stability back into his work life, and structure, it hasnt been long since he entered the position of ceo he must be puttting himself under alot of pressure
he doesnt respond to anger
nor enthusiasm
indifference may work, with a touch of strictness
however indifference may have an opposite effect, maybe Im putting too much thought into the route I should gain his trust, although I don't need his favor it would make work run more peacefully
and his reactions are quite entertaining
like a grumpy old man but less wrinkly, or a feral cat.
I didnt realise I was in my on little world, staring off into the distance, till I caught him glaring at me the same way he's been doing since Ive started
at this point it was funny, he was like that when we bumped into each other
maybe he is hangry again
"You know your paid to work right?" he snaps as he hovers over me
Every time I look at him he always has such a sour look, which is quite unfortunate since he is quite handsome.
"yes correct, do you know my position?" I asked cheerfully hiding my sarcasm in my smile
"a comedian now?"
"one of my many skills"
he scoffed "do any of those skills actually relate to the job lady?"
"of course" it was obvious that he doubted my skills, but I wasnt gonna waste time trying to defend myself through words when I can show it through my actions
"oh really like what"
with a raised brow "that's for me to know and you to find out" I say with a smile "why tell you when I can show you"
"oh really how?"
"Now now Mr Blake, your paid to work not dally" I gave him a pointed look, mimicking the way he spoke to me about my work
he looked visibly shocked by my retort, his face flushed which actually shocked me, he seemed like a person who didn't really show emotions and kept to his usual anger stance since for him its easier to maintain, I thought he was good at keeping a forced appearance and keeping any emotion that isnt anger in check, but seeing him flush so easily was actually quite comforting
so he is capable of looking like that
maybe he isnt as in touch with his emotions as I originally thought
He spun on his heel after dropping the work load on my desk and practically storming off into his office
he was quite cute when he does things like that
I looked through sone of the papers he had handed to me, or more better; threw to me and rearranged them according to categories based on projects and clients, I was also given the data and statistics of the company's project, and research details for future projects, although this is past my job description as his assistant I will be with him when he meets clients and it's important I know and understand what is going on so that I can assist him properly.
This week was my observation week, and planning. On monday is when the real work begins
I started writing down my notes, things I have learned this week, and things I need to prepare for next week, before switching over to Mr. Blake tasks, and upcoming meetings that haven't been scheduled yet
What I have learned this week is that his entire schedule is messy and unorganized, either his previous assistants were inexperienced or he just doesnt know how to follow a schedule
"Hi girly" A stranger says, I look up to see one of the workers smiling at me
"hello"
"Mr Blake's new assistant right?"
"yes, Im rosella but my friends call me rosie"
"ok rosella, Im Gabe I work in the marketing department" I see he doesn't consider me as a friend that is fine it was so be expected, its only my first week after all
I ignored the hint of hostility and reply "nice to meet you Gabe, was there something you needed?"
"just wanted to meet the new assistant"
"well you've met me now" I try to end this conversation so I can get back with what I was doing but he just wouldnt leave
"indeed, I saw you the first day you came in I couldnt help but notice you came in with the petrova's" There it is, this can go two ways.
an innocent question with bad outcomes waiting to happen
If I ask him why thats important I will come off defensive, or I say yes and they automatically asume I got my job thanks to them
I did get my job thanks to them, but I was hoping to keep it a secret since I wanted them to judge me on my work, now I will have a harder time proving myself, since they'll have a biase towards me I thought of the best response for this situation and replied
"yes we've met when I was an assistant for another company"
"oh really why you'd leave your old job, did something happen" clearly he is fishing for gossip
"should have not left?"
"no im just-"
"I wanted to broden my horizons" I say firmly not wanting this conversation to continue
"I see well any ways we should get lunch together or better yet drinks, Im sure your gonna need a break especially with your position"
"whats wrong with my position?" I asked curious
he smirked "I see you havent fully experienced your position"
my brows furrowed as I couldn't understand what he meant by position "what do you mean"
"well-" before he could finish a loud voice echoed through the halls
"Jezz how incompetent is the staff, that they forget a usual returner"
"your about to find out" he replies leaving the desk
"who are you?" A angry blonde storms up to my desk
"I could ask you the same thing, this a restricted area, do you have an appointment" I say maintaining my composure
"you must be new" she smirks down at me an arrogant glint in her eyes, I did not want to bother entertaining her, but I couldn't help but wonder why does it matter if I am new
"do you have an appointment" I repeat my question
she lets out a sigh "Since your new, I'll let your ignorance slide" she goes to walk towards the main office, but before she could I stepped in front of her, smiling.
I didn't know exactly who she was but I had a good feeling who this person maybe "I am sorry Ms, Mr. Blake is currently quite engulfed in his work and unable to give you his full time, if you want I can arrange a date for you and him tonight after his work"
"Do you always freely rearrange your bosses schedule without his knowledge" I had to bite my tongue from saying its my job to rearrange his schedule unless he says otherwise
"Mr Blake has been quite stress with work, so I am sure he very happy with some relaxation time with his girlfriend" I wasnt sure if she was his girlfriend but from my experience only girlfriends act this way, and she blushed when I said girlfriend, which annoyed me somehow it was probably cause she was causing a commotion in the workplace "and I am not rearranging his schedule, I'm fixing his schedule" which is technically true unless he tells me to never put her in his schedule I can add her to it, but its his choice if he wants to follow it
"hmmm finally he has an assistant I like, suddenly my anger is gone" she says looking me up and down, I also took this chance to look at her.
She was beautiful.
Blonde hair, blue eyes, tall with a slim figure, high cheekbones and full lips of course he would be dating a model, a CEO and a model what a common cliché it was funny, but I bet they look perfect together
I continue to smile "Please sit I can set up your date"
"No need darling, I was only coming here to shout at him but my anger has eased" suddenly my mood turned sour I didn't understand why, but I kept smiling anyways "keep up with this obedience, and maybe me and you can be friends" she rummages through her bag, before pulling out a card "save this number, toodaloo darling"
when she leaves, I throw the card in the bin next to me, clearly she wanted to use me as her lap dog, and I wanted no part in that
as I threw the card, as I had no intention on setting said date, or making friends with the screaming lady
I heard a snicker behind me, I spun around to see Mr Blake grinning at me "Maybe your good for something after all, a talent for fending people off I take it" I could hear a slight mock to his tone, he was practically saying I make people leave me or something mean like that, but I wasn't here to leave a good impression or earn any admiration, and I definitely wont show that his words had an effect on me.
"Like I have mentioned Mr. Blake I am a women with many talents" I reply with my signature business smile
he shook his head laughing "clearly, I look forward to seeing more" he says with a smile before returning back to his office
I stood there quite stunned with the events that just happened, I shook off my daze and carried on with my work, my mind drifting off every now and then as I remember his laugh, I couldn't understand why I kept going back to his smile and laugh
he has a lovely smile.
