"you scare me."
daryl looked to you from where he was sitting, in the guard tower of the prison your family now called home. the two of you had been sitting in silence for so long, the sound of your voice almost startled him.
he didnt want to scare you- he dreaded the thought. a list of reasons shot through his head a mile a minute.
he's not approachable. do you trust him? you don't feel safe with him.
that one hurt. daryl had a tendency to overthink, but he'd never say so.
"why?" he was anxious for your reply.
"because i've told you things i can't even tell myself..."
you smiled at him sleepily, and stood up from your own little corner of the tower. he was confused for a second, but then realisation shattered his thoughts.
you do feel safe with him, you do trust him.
the next thing he knew, your weight was beside him, your head leaning on his shoulder.
"mhmmm," you sighed, "thank you, daryl."
