Omori stood over Sunny.
That blank expression still there
Sunny got up and attempted desperately to flee OMORI.
But wherever he went OMORi always seemed to catch up and be infront of him.
"It's your fault."
Echoed across the endless plain.
Eventually, Sunny stoped running and stared back at OMORI.
He was shaking.
"You don't deserve to have a birthday."
OMORi stepped forwards.
"You don't even deserve to live.
Yet you still have the gall to."
OMORi pushed Sunny down with force.
"She was only 15!"
OMORi yelled.
"And you killed her because of some stupid recital!"
"..."
"You don't deserve anything.
N O T H I N G."
OMORi went on and on.
Eventually
He walked away, and sat down in the main area of white space. And closed his eyes.
Sunny got up shakily, and walked around the endless plain, always coming back to a patronizing OMORi.
There was no door anywhere, nothing to escape.
As Sunny walked up to the main place for what felt like the 400th time
OMORi spoke.
"You know I won't let you out for awhile."
The Black and white boy opened one eye slightly.
"It would just be a means to end suffering."
OMORi didn't elaborate further.
Instead opting to close his eyes again.
Sunny wondered around more to no avail.
After what felt like Days and hours.
A knife hitting the ground was heard.
Sunny looked in the direction.
OMORi threw the knife to him.
"Theres always a way out."
Realizing what he had to do
Sunny grabed the knife.
Pointed towards himself.
And stabed.
-Time skip to next day-
Sunny woke up, it was 12pm. He'd slept a hour later than he normally did.
Sunny walked around his house for sometime.
Waiting for something to happen.
Since there was nothing to do, Sunny walked back up the steps, hiding from the bathroom mirror. Sunny Walked into his room and played blackjack on his computer.
After that, he just laid on his floor. Staring at the ceiling with no lightbulb.
Waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
He didn't notice the hours going by.
Before Sunny even Realized it.
It was already 9pm.
It was time to sleep.
Sunny got into his bed and fell asleep.
And had the same dream as the night before.
-Time skip next morning-
When He woke once again, Sunny heard knocking at his door.
Sunny went down to answer it, blankly.
When he opened the door he was greeted by Aubrey of all people.
"Hey Sunny, uh, i kinda wanted to have a picnic."
Aubrey looked to the side.
"..? Okay..?"
Sunny yawned, not knowing the Time.
"...."
"..."
It was awkward for a moment.
"..i wanted to do it... At Maris grave."
Aubrey sheepishly explained to the black haired boy.
"..why.."
"Well it was your birthday 2 days ago and i was...."
Aubrey sighed.
"Feeling a bit guilty.. about not going to Mari's.. grave in so long.."
"..."
"And i didn't wanna go alone. I don't think... I'm ready for that."
"..ok."
Sunny muttered uncomfortable.
The two started to walk to all their friends houses, with the same offer. Hero took the most time to convince, he hadn't been there in years.
After everyone was ready, Hero and Kel brought the drinks and blanket, and Aubrey ordered sandwiches from Gino's. While they got the sandwiches, Sunny went to buy flowers.
As they made their way to graveyard after picking up the sandwiches, Everyone started to get a bit antsy. Hero and Basil being the most notable
Hero on the way there kept making big deals out of little things like flowers and the park he hadn't seen in a long time. Trying to stall for time before they eventually got there.
While Basil kept working with Heros stalling to try and make them picnic some place else.
But eventually, they did get there.
Setting up the picnic, everyone sat silently, not eating. Exchanging glances, not knowing what to do or even say.
Kel started to talk.
"Oh my. I just remembered."
He smiled looking back on the good times.
"Do you guys remember when we were like, 10 maybe 9, and we were at our hangout spot and me and Aubrey were fighting?"
"That happened alot Kel."
Basil grimly spoke.
"Well we were on the dock, so i splashed some water on her!"
Aubrey then gasped.
"I REMEMBER THAT! I WENT TO GET A WATER BOTTLE AND THREW AT YOU!"
Aubrey exclaimed, Basil and Sunny now perking their heads up.
"Yeah! Then Hero got splashed a bit, and joined in, and he was absolutely dominating. Probably cause he's 3 years older."
"Then Mari threw a water balloon at his face, and everyone started to get in on it."
Aubrey and Kel started talking, actually getting along for once. Basil then added
"I remember i tried to hide behind the bushes, because I didn't wanna get wet, but still somehow ended up in the middle of everything."
"Yeah haha, i remember trying to get you to join my side, since Sunny was on Mari's!"
Kel laughed.
"Then after we tired ourselves out, i think we just ended going to Sunny and Mari's House and watching cartoons till we fell asleep"
Aubrey ended the story, after that, everyone began to talk about all the good times they had with Mari while eating.
All except 2.
Hero and Sunny.
After everyone had a laugh, the last memory was brought up.
"..i remember how ecstatic i was for the recital.."
Aubrey murmured. The gloom now coming back.
"..yeah."
Kel quietly shuddered. Placing his hand over Sunnys.
"..i was getting a hair cut.."
Kel said looking to the side.
"I was with my Dad."
Aubrey also said looking down.
".."
"It must've been really hard for you.. Sunny."
Kel expressed, wrapping his arm around a saddened Sunny.
Basil and Sunny exchanged a look.
"Yeah.. walking in on her.. hanging.."
Aubrey added, as Hero finally looked up with tears.
"S-she seemed so excited for it... Th-they we're practicing for months."
Hero choked out in tears. Grabbing the flowers Sunny had brought and walking to her grave a few feet away.
"I-I wish she'd told us, maybe if i had been more observant i- i could've.. saved her"
Hero cried, floping to his knees infront of Mari's gravestone.
"And i failed at that. Then never went to see her all these years.."
Hero got quieter, as everyone watched him breakdown.
" I'm sorry.. Mari...I'm so sorry."
Hero dropped the flowers, and covered his face, with tears falling down. Kel then got up and went over to his brother, placing a hand on his back.
"Hero.. don't be so hard on yourself.. it wasn't your fault"
Aubrey then got up and went to comfort him.
"Yeah Hero.. you did all you could. Nobody knew she was struggling."
As they comforted the weeping Hero, Sunny stared at him with guilt.
'look at all the pain you've caused. This is your fault.'
Is all that rang in Sunny's mind. Over and over and over.
'none of this would have happened if you hadn't been born.'
'your nothing'
'disgrace'
'you weren't even there for them.'
'if they knew the truth, they'd all leave you. To rot, where you belong'
"Sunny?"
Hero called out, standing over him now.
Sunny had spaced out in his own thoughts.
Tears still fresh in his eyes, but a cemi smile on Heros face, Kel then ran up and hugged Sunny.
"It alright we're here."
Kel spoke in a comforting tone, raising his head a bit and wiping the tears from Sunny's eyes.
"It must've been hard for you too..huh Sunny?"
Hero sniffled, giving Sunny a hug too.
"Don't leave me out of this!"
Aubrey yelled, hugging Sunny too, followed by Basil.
It was a group hug everyone so desperately needed all these years.
After that, everyone felt better, talking as they cleaned up. And they walked out
"Well. I'm glad we went there."
Hero smiled, feeling like a weight just got lifted from his shoulder.
"Yeah!"
Kel smiled, holding Sunny's hand. Aubrey then took notice.
"Bruh are you guys holding hands now? Are you guys actually, y'know, a thing?"
Aubrey teased
Kel, getting pretty tired of this, and now being with Sunny, looked at him.
Sunny looked up at Kel, who gave him a wink, with Aubrey still staring at them.
Kel then raised Sunny's head a bit and kissed him, all three of them turning bright red. Basil behind them looked just as surprised.
Aubrey stood there for a second jaw dropped.
"I WAS JUST JOKING-"
Aubrey spoke dumbfounded
"YOU DIDNT TELL ME YOU WERE GAY KEL! Also congrats"
Aubrey yelled, excited for them
As Hero turned back to the sudden yelling.
"What's happening-"
"UH YOU'RE BROTHER IS WITH SUNNY THATS WHAT HERO!"
Aubrey yelled louder, shaking Hero.
"Wait.. did you know about this."
"I-I knew he had a crush but not this-"
"WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME, I COULDVE HELPED?!"
"CAUSE YOUD PROBABLY MAKE FUN OF HIM-"
"SO?!?! THAT DOESN'T MATTER!!!"
Aubrey shook Hero more, and Sunny and Kel just stood there.
"you really had to do that?"
Sunny joked to Kel.
"I had to prove a point."
Kel proudly crossed his arms, Sunny then giggled and kissed Kels cheek.
"congratulations you two"
Basil murmured from behind them, looking worried.
Hero and Aubrey then came back to their senses. Aubrey then walked up to Basil
"Well, don't wanna say i told you so but. I TOLD YOU SO."
Aubrey maliciously grinned
"Alright you won"
Basil sighed in defeat.
"20 bucks, better pay up"
"I'll give it to you tomorrow."
"What?"
Hero asked, questioning their conversation.
"Basil owes me 20 bucks from a bet we made"
"What was the bet-"
"NOT IMPORTANT!"
Aubrey exclaimed, she was very happy for Sunny and Kel.
They all started to walk home, with Basil rushing to his.
They all said they're goodbyes and went their separate ways.
As Hero, Kel and Sunny walked down they're street, Hero messed up Kels hair
"My little brother growing up so fast!"
Hero fake sniffled.
"Heroooooooo, not hereeeeeeeeee"
Kel complained, getting embarrassed.
"Oh fine."
Hero sighed exaggerating.
They then went inside their house, Kel waving to Sunny as he went inside.
Sunny then went inside his house.
-in Basils room-
As soon as Basil got home, he ran into his room and locked it, hiding from Polly and the world.
He thought about what he'd seen.
'The thing behind Sunny...it's getting... bigger....and closer...'
Basil thought intensely.
'its not going away anytime soon .'
