You always trust your friends. How can you not? You hang out with them on the weekends, talk to each other for so many hours, tell each other your secrets and even made promises to always have each other's back
But turns out they were just going to stab yours
"Isn't she too clingy? Like girl get a life!" (Friend's name 1) laughs as you bite your lip in attempt of calming yourself down
"And her food! She keeps on giving us this cookies she makes but they don't even taste good!"
"I agree with you! I have to make sure I have water with me every time she approaches us with her food!"
"Not to mention, doesn't she sound like a total creep whenever she talks about boys? Is she that thirsty?"
"That's so true! Sometimes I worry she might steal my boyfriend!"
"And the way she always talks about her family! My gosh, she's so babied it's embarrassing!"
"I know right! I would be embarrassed if I was caught by people my age!"
You open the door that led to the rooftop as they all stop laughing once they see you entering the space
"(First name) what are you doing here?" (Friend's name 2) stutters before laughing, "Jeez you surprised me! I thought you said you had something to do with your parents?" She asks, walking towards you before wrapping her arms around yours
You pulled your arms off you and glared at her as she gulped
"He-hey, why do you look so angry? Did something happen?" (Friend's name 3) asks as he laughs nervously
"Why do you look so angry, did something happen?" You mock him before laughing sarcastically, "You people are so pathetic it just makes me doubt my taste in people." You huff before turning to (Friend's name 1)
"Clingy? Bitch you should be thankful someone actually bothers to get close to you," You roll your eyes before turning your eyes back to (Friend's name 2)
"I'm sorry if you don't enjoy my food, but maybe you shouldn't say that after stuffing your face with every pastry I gave you earlier, you didn't even have a water break."
Your eyes move to (Friend's name 4) and showed her a fake smile, "I'm not thirsty in guys, at least not as thirsty as your boyfriend is who can't stop chatting other girls online, even if he already has a girlfriend."
"You!" She yells, ready to pull your hair if it wasn't because of your glare that stopped her
Finally you turned to (Friend's name 3), "I'm sorry if you don't enjoy the food I make, but I don't think you should say that after stuffing your face with the pastry I made earlier." You cross your arms, giving them all one last look before turning around to leave the rooftop
You sniffed, wiping away the stray tears that fell from your eyes, not wanting to cry because of them
But that's impossible, how can you keep calm if you find out your friends weren't who you thought they were?
You continue to walk, getting stares from some people when they saw your disheveled appearance
"How am I going to explain it to my parents when I get home?" You groan, pulling your hair in frustration at the thought of having to tell your parents just how amazing your friends are
Sighing, you decide to sit on a nearby bench in order to calm yourself down and make yourself presentable to your parents
"Long day?" A voice asks before sitting beside you, "Mind if I keep you company for a few minutes?" He smiles
"Do what you want," You sigh, looking up to the sky
"You're (Last name) from class C right?" He says after a few minutes
"You know me?" You ask in surprise
"We've been going in the same school for three years, we were even in the same class in first year." He chuckles, "Of course I know you."
"Never thought you would be the type to remember your classmates, even those you hardly talked to."
"Not like I can forget you with a face like yours," He says, leaning back on the chair as your eyebrows raise as your lips formed a smile
"As expected of one of Inashiro's Baseball stars, you really know what to say, don't you?" You chuckle as he smiles himself
"You finally don't look like you have the whole world is in your shoulders," He says in relief, "Mind sharing what's on your mind? It seems heavy," He smiles at you as you sigh
"You're pretty much a stranger though," You laugh
"No pressure," He reassures you
"Don't worry, I don't mind. Besides, you don't seem like the type to gossip." You smile at him
"Where should I start?" You ask, leaning back
"Just tell me what you wanna tell me, no pressure." He answers
"Actually before anything, don't you have training?" You suddenly sit up straight as he laughs
"Thanks for worrying but we're done for the day, we're just doing light training since we have an upcoming game the day after tomorrow."
"Oh, good luck then." You nod at him as he motions for you to proceed
You sigh before smiling at him and taking a deep breath, "So you know I have these friends right?" You ask him
"Yeah, I remember you used to eat together a lot during first year." He adds
"Yeah well, I kinda heard them talking in the rooftop earlier, and their topic was about me." You but your lip as you play with your fingers
"Were they saying good things or bad things?" He asks slowly as if he was scared that he was crossing a line
"Bad things." You sigh, blinking away the tears, honestly you didn't know whether your tears were because of sadness or anger, "Basically they told me I was clingy, my food tasted bad, I seemed thirsty for guys and I'm too babied or something," You take a deep breath when you feel Carlos' eyes on you, as if he was watching your next moves
"What pathetic friends," He scoffs, "Can't believe people like that still exists." He sighs
"Can't believe it either." You try to laugh, "Honestly, for a moment I was about to believe I actually found life long friends." You smile sarcastically
"Well you can try finding it then," Carlos says, "I've seen you around and you seem really nice. Honestly you can do better than people like those, and you definitely deserve better friends." He smiles, and you find yourself returning the gesture as silence soon follows, although it was a good kind of silence that just makes you feel at peace
After a few minutes, Narumiya's voice rings on the area around you, as Carlos suddenly stands up and sighs
"It was nice talking to you (Last name), if you need another lending ear then feel free to approach me." He bids you goodbye as he runs towards Narumiya who had his arms crossed
"I can start finding huh? That sounds so easy but in truth it's hard." You sigh, remembering Carlos' words while looking at the sun that was now setting before you close your eyes. Honestly, you were thankful for Carlos. Even though you two aren't exactly friends, it was nice to talk to him
After another 30 minutes, you decide to go home, your face wouldn't be puffy anymore right?
Thankfully you managed to get to your room without problem, you turned on your phone that you turned off and saw notification from your so called 'friends'
You wanted to laugh at how they just want to brush it under the rug, as if their words didn't hurt you already
"People can really be such big assholes," You shake your head as Carlos suddenly pops in your head
"Well I guess not everyone." You mumble, laying on your bed as you try to think of the next day. You were most likely going to spend the whole day alone, but you guessed that was better than spending your time with a bunch of backstabbers
"Speaking of, should I do something for Carlos tomorrow?" You wonder to yourself, "He did make me feel better." You puff out your cheeks, thinking of anything you can do to show him your gratitude for keeping you company and even listening to your problems
"Are you making anything, honey?" Your mom asks as you enter the kitchen and see her cooking food for dinner
"I was thinking of making cupcakes..." You trail off as you try to find the ingredients needed to make them
"Oh for your friends?" She asks excitedly, "Want me to help?"
"No, it's okay mom, you should rest after dinner." You smile at her, you didn't even know how you would tell her that those friends that often comes over we're not your friends anymore, you didn't even know if they ever considered you a friend
After eating dinner, you proceed to make the cupcake for Carlos, you didn't know what flavor he liked so you decided to just make three different flavors
'Will he like it?' You find yourself wondering as (Friend's name 2) suddenly pops in your head, her words repeating themselves that pushed you to overthink whether he would enjoy them or not
"Let's just wait and see his reaction for tomorrow." You decide after a few minutes, proceeding to put the batter in the oven for it to cook and prepare the icing
The next day, you walk to school with your head up high. Not liking the thought of your past friends seeing how negatively their words affected you
You stopped by the field to give Carlos his cupcakes
"Carlos someone's looking for you!" One of his teammates called him, looking like this was already something usual
"Who? Oh (Last name)," He suddenly smiles before approaching you, "You need anything?"
"Just here," You smile awkwardly, feeling shy at his teammate watching, "Thanks for yesterday, I really appreciate it."
"It's nothing." He says, "Cupcakes! This looks amazing! I'll try it later, thanks!" He grins as you nod him goodbye and walk to the school building
You walk to your class, completely ignoring your 'friends' when they greeted you
You walk in your classroom, feeling a bit lonely since you didn't have anybody to hang out with

By lunch time, there was someone who placed their lunchbox on your table
You look up and saw (Friend's name 1) smiling at you, "Come on (First name), forget about yesterday, you know you need us or you'll be alone till the last day of school," She announces confidently
"That actually doesn't sound bad." You answer, "Being alone is better than spending time with people who I can't trust." You retort back
"Your pride's over the top."
"Just as your insensitivity."
"Just admit it you need u-"
"Hey," Carlos suddenly walks in your room, "Is (Last name) (First name) here?" He asks your classmate that was close to the door
"Huh?" (Friend's name 1) ask in confusion as Carlos grins and walks over to you
"Want to eat lunch together?" He asks, "Or are you..."
"No, I would like to eat lunch with you." You answer, already standing up and leaving (Friend's name 1) dumbfounded as you walk out with Carlos
"Thanks for getting me out of that situation," You whisper as you both walk to the cafeteria
"It's nothing, besides the cupcakes tasted great!" He compliments
You beam, "You finished them?"
"I ate like three, the other people in my team kept on asking for them..." He sighs
You blush, did he really let his teammates taste it
"Did they like it then?" You ask
"Like them? I think they loved them!" He laughs as he tells you about them arguing for the last cupcake
You laugh along with Carlos, even accepting to sit with him and his friends
'Maybe finding a real friend isn't so hard after all.' You thought, surprisingly enjoying the chaos in their table
