Warnings: Fluff! Mention of Injury!
After the battle, you were all joined by agents of SHIELD. Medics sitting you down to bandage up your stab wound.
"I wasn't aware you were injured" Steve says sitting down beside you.
You shrug your shoulders "had more important things to worry about, how are you?" You ask nodding down to his blast wound.
"Good thanks to you" Steve smiles.
You glance out to see Loki watching the two of you, a scowl on his face.
"I'm off to co-ordinate search and rescue" Steve says standing up and heading.
"I'm off to co-ordinate search and rescue" Loki mimics transforming himself into a copy of Steve.
"Shut up" both you and Thor groan, Thor slamming a muzzle across Loki's mouth.
Once you were patched up you follow Thor and Tony into the elevator, escorting Loki out. As you walk through the lobby of the tower a group of men in suits approached stopping you.
"May I ask where you are going?" The old blond-haired man asked.
"Bit of lunch and then Asgard, I'm sorry who are you?" Thor asks.
"Alexander Pierce, he's the man above the folks behind Nick Fury" Tony explains.
"Oh" you say both you and Thor nodding your head in agreement.
"My friends call me Mr. Secretary" Pierce says "I'm gonna have to ask you to turn that prisoner over to me"
"Loki will be answering to Odin himself" Thor tells him.
"No he's going to answer to us" Pierce interjects "Odin can have what's left"
"Excuse me?" You scoff.
"And I'm gonna need that case, that has been SHIELD property for over 70 years" he continues, a man stepping forward to grab the case containing the cube from Tony.
"No, it is property of Asgard" you say stepping in between him and Tony to stop him.
"I'm not gonna argue who's for the higher authority here" tony say holding the case behind his back.
"I need the case" Pierce insists.
"I know you got a lot of pull, I'm just saying jurisdiction-" Tony continues but Pierce interrupts.
"Okay the give me the case" Pierce states.
"Well jurisdiction technically belongs to Asgard" Tony says as pierce grabs for the case again.
"Get your hand off me" Tony warns as more men grapple for the case.
"Gentlemen!" Fury shouts getting everyone's attention.
"We can talk jurisdiction later, for now let's get the prisoner and the cube secured" he says walking over.
"This is a grey area so in the meantime SHIELD will hold both the cube and the prisoner until jurisdiction can be established" Fury says looking at both you and Thor.
You glance up at Thor nodding your head slightly. It was the best compromise possible.
"Of course, now I'll let you deal with my brother, we have lunch to attend to" Thor says as Tony passes the case over to Fury.
"Of course, but first, may I speak with you a moment?" Fury says looking at you.
You nod your head in agreement "go ahead I'll catch you up" you tell Thor and tony before heading off to follow fury.
"Thor will need the tesseract to take Loki back to Asgard, our prisons there are far better suited" you tell him as you find a quiet corner.
"I know, I wanted to ask you if you were going back too" he says turning to face you.
You furrow your brows slightly. You hadn't actually thought about it. You did want to learn more about your home planet, but if you didn't return with Thor you wouldn't know when you'd be able to return to Asgard. Especially since the Bifrost was still gone.
"Thor filled me in on your situation, and I can offer you a place here at SHIELD alongside Agent Romanoff, Barton and Captain Rogers. Help set you up with your own place, adjust to this world" Fury explains.
You nod your head taking in all the information. It sounded like a good deal, you glance over your shoulder to see Thor laughing with Tony. It would be difficult to watch him go.
"Can I think about it and get back to you?" You ask.
"Of course, it's already to go when you make up your mind" Fury says "now go enjoy your lunch" he adds patting you on the shoulder.
When you re-join the group, Steve, Nat and Clint had arrived. As well as Bruce no longer in Hulk form. Tony leads everyone out onto the streets of New York. As you walked to the shawarma joint you looked up and around at the city around you.
"Impressive right?" Steve asks grabbing your attention.
"Yeah, bet it's amazing when it in all it's glory" you sigh looking around at all the rubble.
"Yeah it is, little bit overwhelming I have to say, took me a while to get my head around it, still am if I'm honest" Steve admits shrugging his shoulders slightly.
You nod your head slightly, your mother had been from New York. You spent the first year of your life here. Not that you had any memory of that.
"So are you going back to Asgard with Thor?" Steve asks grabbing your attention again.
You glance over at Thor who was chatting with Bruce unaware of your conversation with Steve.
"I don't know. Fury offered me a place here, and I do want to learn more about this world but if I don't go with him, I don't know when I'll be able to go back, see my mother and father" you sigh shrugging your shoulders.
Steve nods his head in understanding "well let me know what you decide, I still need to show you the wizard of oz before you go" he smiles.
You chuckle recalling the conversation you had about flying monkeys. The one that felt like weeks ago now.
"Will do, it's nice to know what if I do stay I'll have a friend to learn with" you smile.
"Me too" Steve smiles.
The group arrive at the shawarma place, the owners seemed extremely shocked to see 7 superheroes walk in. However they we more than happy to make up some food for all of you.
You sat down between Thor and Steve, looking down at your meal you weren't exactly sure what it was still. Nevertheless you were hungry and tired after the long battle.
Everyone ate in silence, as you glanced around the table you could see everyone eating away. Thor was hungrily digging in, eating the food Steve decided he didn't want. Both Nat and Clint picked at their food, Clint with his legs up on Nat's chair. Steve was resting his head on his fist, his eyelids fluttering shut periodically. He looked as tired as you felt.
Pushing the rest of your food in Thor's direction you leant back in your chair. Breathing out a big sigh as your crossed your arms over your chest. Your sigh catches the attention of Steve who glances over at you. He gives you a tired smile before patting his legs.
"You can put your feet up if you want" he offers.
You smile back at him "thanks Steve" you say suppressing a small yawn.
You lift your feet up, stretching them out over his legs. The position allowing you to recline further into your seat. You shoot him a tired smile allowing your head to drop back against the seat. Your eyelids soon shutting as the exhaustion took over.
A couple days later it was time for Loki and the tesseract to return to Asgard. Luckily Fury had managed to convince the security council that Asgard was the safest place.
You had yet to come to a decision as to whether you were going to go with Thor or not. The last couple days the team had been allowed to rest. During which Steve showed you the wizard of oz. It was an incredible movie, and you really enjoyed spending time with him.
You did feel as if you would be happy if you stayed here. However whenever you looked at Thor you felt incredibly guilty for leaving him.
"What is on your mind sister?" Thor asks walking over to stand beside you at the window.
"Nothing really" you lie as you look out at the sky.
"You come to your decision about staying?" Thor asks.
You look up at him shocked, seeing a knowing smirk on his face.
"How did you?" You mutter confused.
"I know Fury offered you a job, and you've been quietly contemplating it ever since" Thor explains.
"No I haven't come to a conclusion yet, I do love the idea of staying here. I'd have friends with me like Nat and Steve" you sigh moving away from the window.
"But" Thor says knowingly.
"But if I stay I do not know when I'll get to return back to Asgard. I'd feel bad leaving you, mother and father" you sigh.
"Well, I know mother spoke to you before we left saying that both her and father would support you if you left. Also the Bifrost shall be repaired soon, and once it is I shall visit and you'll be able to come home once more" Thor tells you.
"Sister I want you to be happy, you seem very happy here, and if that means I don't get to see you for a little while then that is okay" Thor finishes putting a supportive hand on your shoulder.
"Are you sure brother?" You ask.
"Certainly, I need someone to look out for this world" Thor smiles.
You smile hugging him tightly, he chuckles hugging you back patting your back.
"I do have a favour to ask though" Thor says.
"What is it?" You ask looking up at him.
"Please find Lady Jane, apologise to her on my behalf, explain how I was unable to return" Thor asks making you laugh.
"You just want to avoid her wrath!" You laugh slapping his arm.
Thor chuckles shaking his head "no, I am not, but please can you do this for me sister?" Thor asks.
"Yes of course" you smile.
A short while later the team was once again all assembled to watch Thor and Loki return to Asgard. You spot Steve smiling over to him and heading over to see him.
"So made your decision?" Steve asks you.
"Yes, I'm gonna stick around a bit longer, hope you don't mind" you smirk.
Steve chuckles smiling down at you "no complaints here, glad I'll have someone to learn about this modern world with" he smiles nudging your shoulders with his own.
"Sister" Thor calls out grabbing your attention.
"Be right back" you say to Steve before heading over to your brother.
"This is goodbye sister, I hope to see you soon" Thor says.
You smile up at him before hugging him "me too brother, stay safe let me know if you need help handling him" you say nodding over to Loki.
"Will do, enjoy your new life on earth" Thor smiles patting you on the shoulders.
You turn to face Loki, seeing him watch your exchange with Thor. You take a deep breath deciding what to say to him.
"Loki, despite everything you are still my big brother, and will always have a place in my heart. Even if we aren't related by blood. Behave now. Hopefully I shall see you soon" you tell him.
Loki was unable to say anything due to the muzzle but he bowed his head. That was enough, it was his way of telling you he appreciated your words.
"You ready?" Tony asks walking over brief case in hand.
"Yes" Thor says nodding his head.
He gives you one last smile before you step back beside Steve. You watch as the tesseract being places in the special holder that would allow Thor and Loki to travel home. You glance up at Steve seeing him watch the tesseract with a look of distaste. He had told you about his history with the cube so you weren't surprised.
"It will be safe on Asgard, no one will be able to use it as a weapon again" you tell him quietly.
He sighs nodding his head slightly, his lips pursed in thought. The two of you watch as Thor and Loki prepare to return to Asgard. Thor sends you one last nod before turning the handle. You look up as the two of them disappear.
Steve puts hand on your shoulder as you take a shaky breath "you alright?" He asks.
"Yeah, just gonna miss them" you sigh.
"Of course, you need a ride back to HQ?" He asks nodding over to his bike.
"That would be great thank you" you smile.
The rest of you all said your goodbyes to each other. Everyone going their separate ways. At least for now, there will always be another enemy, another battle. But for now you all had earnt time off, time to fade into the background.
"Ready?" Steve asks passing you a helmet.
"You not wearing one?" You ask him.
"Super soldier" he reminds you with a small smirk.
"Demigod" you smirk back making him laugh.
"Fair enough, but please?" He asks pushing the helmet back towards you.
"Fine" you chuckle sliding the helmet off.
Steve smiles climbing into the bike, you climbing on behind him.
"Hold on tight" Steve smiles as you wrap your arms around his waist as he pulls off, and you ride off to your new life on earth.
