"y/n wake up!" i hear kate say, feeling my shoulder shake. i groan, opening my eyes to the bright sunlight. "the bell rang." kate says, moving her hand from my shoulder, standing up. i take a deep sigh, and kate offers both her hands out to me. i take them, and kate pulls me up. she picks up my bag, handing it to me. "thanks." i say, yawning. kate smiles and we walk beside each other, mj, peter and ned in front of us.
we enter science class, sitting down at an empty bench. everyone talks, waiting for the lesson to start and jenna walks in, sitting next to me on my left, kate on my right. "hey guys." she says, placing her bag on the floor. "hey jenna!" kate exclaims. "hey, jenny," i say, picking up my pen and doodling in my book. kate picks up her pen, drawing something on the corner of my book. she leans against her hand, elbow on table, taking off her hand to show what she drew. i smile at the smile face she did, and i get my pen, drawing over the 2 dots for the eyes hearts. kate smiles back, going to write something. "me 2 u" i scoff at what she wrote, writing something above it. "obsessed with me?" i write, and kate writes something on top. "who isn't? ;)" she writes and i smile, placing my pen down.
kate and i walk to the carpark, and kate presses her car key to unlock her car. "this your car?" i say, stopping at it. "no, i just stole a random car." she replies sarcastically. i chuckle, shaking my head. "stupid question, my bad. you have a really nice car." i compliment, kate smiling as she gets in the drivers seat. "thanks, you do too." she says. i lean against her window frame as the windows down, smiling. "you... okay?" kate says, a little concerned. "i'm good. how 'bout you?" i reply. "i'm good, y/n." she says, trying to stop herself from laughing as we stare at each other. we stare at each other for a few seconds and i break the tension, speaking. "drive home safe, yeah?" i say, standing up properly. "yeah, you too y/n." kate says, starting up her car. i smile, waving as she reverses. she waves back and i walk back to my car, smiling as i skip lightly.
i sit at my desk, twirling my pen around my fingers as i focus on the math question, writing down the answer. my phone vibrates and i pick it up, reading the message.

i tap out of the messages, face-timing kate. she picks up after a few rings, smiling. "hey kate." i say, placing my phone to lean on my books to show me. "hey y/n!" kate says, doing the same. "so, question 6a? i don't know how you got in the thousands!" i say, laughing. kate laughs too, picking up her pen. "honestly i don't even know what i was doing." she says. "so basically..." i start off, looking at the question.
i watch my phone as kate has her head slightly down, eyebrows slightly furrowed as she focuses. after a few minutes, i break the silence. "i'm gonna brush my teeth, i'll be back." i say, standing up. kate smiles, nodding as i walk to the bathroom, leaving my phone on call on my desk. moments later, i come back to kate in the same position, lightly tapping her pen on her head. i take my phone and lay in bed, plugging my phone in the charger.
30 minutes pass, the time being around 10:30pm. "are you staring at me or on your phone? i can't tell." kate says, looking at me. "i- uh, i'm on instagram." i lie, knowing damn well i'm staring at kate. "okay, cool." she says, with a smile as she puts her head slightly down again.
kate's pov
after a few minutes, i look up from my work, going to ask y/n a question. "hey y/n-" i say, cutting myself off. i see y/n sleeping on her side, phone showing her face, eyes closed. i lightly chuckle and take a screenshot, going back to my work.
i place my math book away after getting ready for bed, laying on my bed as i bring my phone and lay on my side. i look at y/n sleeping, taking another screenshot. i swipe out of the app, still on call.

i go back to the facetime app, yawning as i see y/n still sleeping. i can't help but smile, but shake my head slightly. i decide not to end the call, leaning it against my other pillow, closing my eyes.
y/n's pov
my phone's alarm rings and i slowly open my eyes, pressing 'stop' on the timer. "you're still calling?" i groan in tiredness as i see kate nod as she puts a spoonful of cereal in her mouth. i smile, yawning as i sit up, unplugging my phone. after a few minutes, i walk downstairs. "what're you eating for breakfast?" kate asks, looking at her screen. "uh... french toast." i say, setting my phone down. "good choice." kate says, putting another spoon full in her mouth.
i take a bite of the french toast, kate smiling through the screen. "how is it?" she asks. "it's really good, i should make you some next time you're over." i say after i finish the bite. "i'd love that." kate says, smiling.
we end the call as i get changed, shortly arriving at school after. i walk up to kate, mj, peter and ned, kate turning around. we both smile at each other at the same time, and she opens her arms. i smile more walking forward as i wrap my arms around her waist, hugging her. we let go after a few seconds, and i look at the rest of the group. "since when did you guys hug?" peter says, mouth slightly open. "uh... since now?" i say, confused as kate laughs.
