chapter thirty.
Kol was gone.
The spell that Rhea and Matthias had cast was a success and Kol upheld his end of the deal and left New Orleans so no further harm could come to him.
In addition to that, Katherine ended her relationship with Elijah before moving into Matthias' apartment. Nadia left to go with Kol, the vampire promising to keep the human safe much to Kol's annoyance, but he wouldn't dare admit that he found Nadia's company nice.
"So, what's the plan now?" Rhea asked Matthias as they settled into their living room.
"I want to save Finn before my brother's find him." Matthias told her. "Knowing Klaus, he'll go after Finn in a rage of grief, but he still refuses to acknowledge that Finn is spelled, or he just chooses not to care."
Rhea hummed. "And what of Freya?"
"Freya is nothing to me." Matthias told her. "She wants to give herself the title of our sister but to me, she's done nothing to earn that title and her just showing up doesn't change anything."
"I think you should linger around your siblings to see what's going to happen." Rhea told him and Matthias almost groaned. "I know you do not wish to be around them, but you can't just linger around me forever."
"I can try." Matthias joked and Rhea couldn't help but giggle. "You're right, but I'll wait until I hear something about Finn's whereabouts."
Rhea hummed and nodded her head, she leaned over so that her head was resting on Matthias' shoulder before closing her eyes. Matthias waited until her hearing evened out before standing and lifting her from the couch and into their room.
Katherine was tucked away into her room, she had stayed behind to be with Rhea whenever Matthias wasn't home. She wouldn't admit it, but she also stayed to see if Elijah would come running after her, he didn't.
Matthias promised to get the two out of New Orleans, he just needed to handle his family.

Matthias followed the twin bond and it lead him to the cemetery.
"My child!" Matthias heard his brother say.
Matthias rushed to the scene where he saw Klaus holding Finn against the tomb behind him. There was a metal pike, likely from something in the cemetery lodged in Finn's abdomen.
"For what you would have done to Hope, to Matthias' child, I'm going to enjoy making you suffer." Klaus told him.
Klaus was about to push the pike further into Finn's abdomen but Matthias quickly ped over and threw his brother away from Finn. Klaus rolled against the ground and glared at Matthias when he spotted him.
"Of course, you'd protect him." Klaus spat. "Afterall, he and Kol were always your favorite."
"You don't get to talk about favorites, Niklaus." Matthias glared at him.
Klaus was ready to attack Matthias when Elijah then appeared and stepped in front of Klaus, blocking him from Matthias.
"You didn't answer my call." Elijah said.
"Well, I was a little bit busy." Klaus told him while glaring at Matthias still.
"I need him alive." Elijah told Klaus.
"I've no time for your soft-hearted sympathies." Klaus went to walk around Elijah, but Elijah blocked his path. "Stand aside." But Elijah remained in place.
While Elijah handled Klaus, Matthias knelt beside Finn. "Hello, brother."
Finn smiled sadly at Matthias, "I am sorry about Kol." He whispered.
"I know." Matthias said with a sad look. "I found a way to remove Esther's spell."
Finn looked hopeful at this, he no longer wanted to be bound to this vendetta for his mother. However, before Matthias could even begin, a new set of footsteps caught his attention, and he was standing up.
"Well, currying some witch's favor does not concern me." Klaus told Elijah sternly.
"It should." The voice spoke and Matthias had instinctively moved so that he was closer to Elijah and Klaus. "Witch allies can prove valuable." She said while walking past them and towards Finn's body.
"Freya.." Finn called out to her. "Freya, help me." He pleaded.
"Don't worry, brother. I won't let them hurt you." She told him before lifting her pendant slightly and casting a spell.
The pendent began to glow and when Finn started to cry out in pain, Klaus had to hold his brother back so that they could see what she was doing. Finally, the screaming stopped and the man on the floor known as Vincent Griffith looked around in confusion.
"Who are you?" He asked them.
"Sleep." Freya commanded with a wave of her fingers and the man complied.
"What did you do to him?" Matthias demanded.
"Finn is now safe from harm, and his hatred of you can no longer do damage to our cause." Freya told him while holding her pendent.
"Our cause?" Elijah asked.
"Yes." Freya nodded. "And now, if you two can stop arguing long enough, perhaps you'll allow your older sister to offer you a deal." She said.
"What could you possibly offer us besides fairy tales and lies?" Klaus snapped at her.
"Whatever you may think of me, brother, know this... When I speak to you, it is the truth. If you have any doubts, remember that it was I who rescued Rebekah from the Fauline Cottage." She told him.
"And was it not also you who led Finn on his vile mission to take Hope's life?" Elijah told her while walking towards Vincent. "As well as Matthias' and any children my brother's may come to have?"
Freya was shocked to learn that Matthias was having a baby, but she kept it concealed as she spoke. "The threat to hope came from Finn, not me. The brother I knew would never have stooped to threaten a child. Our mother destroyed him like she did me." She turned towards the twins, "You, everything she touched."
Suddenly a gasp left Freya's lips when Matthias rushed at her, ripped the pendant off her neck and was standing a good distance away. He didn't trust Freya and for a witch she was stupid not to notice that Finn had a curse placed upon him.
"You do not get to speak about Finn as if you know him." Matthias told her firmly. "You know nothing about my family, about my brothers, so don't you dare act like you know Finn."
Freya was shocked by this, she lifted her hand to her neck and hated that it was bare. However, she knew of Matthias' magical power, how he barely used it but that didn't mean he wasn't powerful, and she needed his magic in order to beat Dahlia.
Freya lifted her hands and Matthias watched as his twin and Elijah were sucked into a memory, but Matthias would never allow a witch inside his head. Thus, why he's protected himself with a simple spell that would block the spell Freya or any witch for that matter casted.
"Do you think me a liar?" She asked Klaus.
"That proves nothing but your ability to conjure illusions." Klaus told her.
"Before you dismiss me, you should know this: if I've woken from my slumber, Dahlia has as well." Freya told them. "Once she's sensed your children's magic, she will come for them, and she has the power to kill anyone who stands in her way unless we kill her first."
"Are you honestly daft to think that we'd ever trust you?" Matthias asked her while holding the pendant. "Honestly, you appear right as this impending doom is to arrive and we're just supposed to accept you with open arms? Bullshit."
"Thank you!" Klaus said while motioning to Matthias. "You show up in the nick of time to help us kill the woman with whom you've spent a thousand years!"
"You have no idea what it took to escape her or what I lost in the trying." Freya snapped at him. "Her punishment will be profound."
"And you know how to stop her?" Elijah asked her.
"Given the proper materials, yes." Freya said while looking to Elijah. "I've sent Father to procure them."
"You put the life of our children in the hands of Mikael?" Klaus asked her furiously before storming away in disbelief.
"Niklaus." Elijah called out to him, and Klaus stopped.
Matthias noticed how Klaus was shaking, not from rage alone but fear. Fear that they would have to be in the presence of Mikael again and they were supposed to believe that he was there to help them.
"No, Elijah." Matthias snapped at him. "Mikael has beaten us, he slapped us around, told us we weren't good enough, nearly killed us growing up, and you think because some girl comes and says that he's going to help, we should believe that? That we should trust the man you call a father, isn't going to hurt us again?"
Elijah's eyes softened as he realized what Freya's actions made the twins feel. "Matthias."
"Klaus and I do not trust her." Matthias told Elijah simply. "If you wish to trust her, then do not be surprised when Klaus and I do things our way."
With that, the twins were gone and so was Freya's pendant.

y'all thought I'd let Freya keep Finn, nah. Matthias doesn't trust her and in turn doesn't trust her to hold Finn.
Finn won't remain in the pendant for long, Matthias will make sure of that.
but I am so ready to finish S2... have I said that already? lol
