Money. Tessa had come from a family of Money. It never used to be that way, as Daniel LaRusso and his mother hadn't had two dimes to put together when they moved to California. But because of the dealership and all the karate fame, Tessa lived a life of richness.

She was more than grateful, and she knew that she had her privileges, unlike her sister. Despite this, she had never let it get to her head.

Encino Oaks Country club was a place Tessa had always gone to with her father when nobody would go with him. It was when her and Daniel had a good relationship and she would always take the opportunity to spend time with him, even if it meant being by all the stuck-up rich kids.

Times were different now. She had no interest in going to the club, however Daniel had told her that it was good to have all different types of experiences when you're her age. He had also mentioned how she had always wanted to go with him when she was younger.

So, when she had learned from Amanda that Sam would not be at the annual party at the club, she was a bit annoyed.

Non the less, she still but on her famous LaRusso smile and acted as everything was fine.

Her dad had just got back from trying to get Anthony to go do something other than play on his tablet, but he failed miserably and decided to just go back over to Amanda and Tessa. The two girls were standing by the bar as Daniel approached.

Tessa turned her body around as she looked at the bartender with a tight-lipped smile.

"Can I get a lemonade, please?" The worker nodded his head as he turned around.

"LaRusso's." Tessa pushed her body off of the bar, turning around at the sound of her last name getting called out. She narrowed her eyes, seeing Aisha and her dad. The Robinson's reach the LaRusso's, Aishas dad going to shake hands with Daniel. "Hey, you still kicking that competition?" He asked Daniel with a laugh.

Tessa released a breath a relief at the sight of one of her best friends. She quickly brought Aisha into a hug before starting a conversation with her. "How's AP Physics prep course going?" She questioned as she held onto her shoulders.

"It's going good. I really like it; I just wish you or Sam were there. It would have made it much more eventful. Speaking of which, where is Samantha? I feel like I haven't seen her all summer." Aisha spoke to the whole group as Tessa stepped back from her to grab her lemonade.

Amanda and Daniel both looked at each other before Amanda spoke up, "She's with her grandmother." Tessa sipped on her straw as the liquid went up and into her mouth, looking in between Amanda and Daniel as Amanda lied to Aisha about the whereabouts of Samantha LaRusso. "But I'll tell her you said hi."

"Great." Aisha replied, smiling at the LaRusso's.

"Later Larusso's." Isaiah spoke as he started to turn around.

"Bye, I'll text you later Aisha." Tessa pulled Aisha in another quick side hug before Aisha had to leave.

"Alright bye." Tessa watched as Aisha and her father walked away, leaving her line of vision. She sighed to herself as now she had no one to talk to, starting to fiddle around with the straw in her cup.

"With her grandma?" Tessa lifted her head up at the sound of her father talking to Amanda. "Yeah, right. Lately I can't get her to call my mom. Let alone visit her." Tessa laughed slightly at his comment as she looked between Amanda and Daniel.

"What am I supposed to say? Shes hanging out with her new friends." Amanda tried to reason.

"All I know is she should be here. We come to this party once a year. She gets to see her stupid friends every day."

"And all I know is that I'm about to leave because you forced me to come but not Sam. Bye." Tessa spoke quickly in hopes they wouldn't stop her, setting down her empty drink that she had just chugged down.

"Tessa, you are staying." Daniel responded to her as she started to walk off.

"Sorry can't hear you, love you." She picked up her pace so she could get to the door quicker as she gave a quick wave before leaving the building.

˜"*°•.˜"*°• -----------------------------------•°*"˜.•°*"˜

Tessa stepped out of the Uber she had ordered as she arrived at her house. She didn't want to stay long at the house in case Sam was there or her father would come home soon. She just wanted to change into something better than what she was wearing and grab her skateboard so she could head over to the skatepark.

She had made it up the first step when she heard a noise coming from the back. Cursing to herself, she made the decision to check it out even though all the horror movie logic she had told her not to. Making small movements to the back, she had expected the worst, but all she saw was a bunch of people hanging around the pool. Her eyes scanned across the different people sitting in her back yard until she spotted Sam sitting next to Moon and Yasmine.

"Sam." Tessa spoke as she walked over to her.

Sam immediately turned around, her smile dropping as she quickly stood up. "H-hey Tessa, please don't tell dad that I'm having people over."

"So, you have all these people over and Dad and Amanda have no idea?" Tessa crossed her arms over her chest mid-sentence as thoughts raced through her head of what she wanted to do with this new information.

"Yes, please don't tell them, I will do anything." Sam pleaded.

"Anything?"

"Anything." She conformed. Tessa smiled to herself.

"Okay, you have to do my chores and not bother me for 2 weeks."

"But—" Sam started but was cut off.

"No buts, or I'll add to my list or tell dad. And honestly I could have you do way worse, I'm just feeling generous today."

"Alright." Sam sighed as she looked at her feet. Tessa started to walk back in the house, getting a confused look from Sam. "You're not staying here, are you?" Sam called out.

"No Samantha, I am not wasting my time to watch you and your friends. I'm going to go change and then I'm heading to the skatepark."

˜"*°•.˜"*°• -----------------------------------•°*"˜.•°*"˜

The first day of school had arrived quicker than the LaRusso girl would have liked. However, the only real problem she knew she was going to have that year was she sat next to Kyler Park for her first period.

Tessa sat down at her regular lunch table where two of her friends sat at. She gave a smile to both Demetri and Eli, giving an offering look to Eli as she held up a bag of cookies that she had just grabbed from her locker.

Eli nodded, the pair silently talking to each other. He handed her his juice box while she handed him the bag of cookies.

As childish as this interaction had looked like, the two had always exchanged something from their lunch. Tessa would always make a different type of dessert or treat the night before so she could trade with Eli.

She was never one to eat the schools lunch, but she was one to trade something for a drink.

"Is it cool if I sit here?" Her thoughts were paused as a voice popped her out of her mind. She looked up, making eye-contact with Miguel Diaz as he looked around the table. She instantly smiled.

"Miguel! Totally, sit—" Tessa quickly tried to have him sit, only Demetri had something else in mind, cutting the LaRusso off right away.

"Oh, sorry tables really blowing up right now." Demetri spoke while moving his hands in a circle. Eli smiled at his teasing and looked down while Miguel looked around the table confused. Demetri continued, "I can put you on the waitlist but it's probably next semester at the earliest." Miguel looked down and shook his head.

"Okay." Miguel sighed before taking a step away from the table before Tessa grabbed his arm.

"No. He's kidding, sit." She laughed slightly at Miguel's reaction before pointing down at the seat next to her.

"Miguel." Miguel introduced himself to the two boys he had yet to meet, figuring they were the friends Tessa had talked about.

"Demetri. This is Eli." Miguel looked over at Eli, hoping to introduce himself properly with the boy but was shut down as Eli lowered his head. "He's a man of few words. And this is Tes—"

"Tessa. Yeah, I know, we already met at the mini mall, were friends." Miguel interrupted the talkative boy as he looked over at the girl in question, smiling immediately at her.

Miguel's eyes trailed off of the girl beside him as he watched Yasmine and Sam walk by the fours table with their trays in hand, the boy staring in awe.

Tessa quickly looked down as she noticed the boys gaze. Quickly becoming insecure of her sisters looks, she couldn't help but wonder the what if's. Specifically, the what if she had been the one that had held Miguel's gaze in that moment as he looked at her in awe.

"Dude don't torture yourself. Those are the rich girls." Tessa was brought back into reality at the sound of Demetris voice. The boy nodded towards the table that now held Moon, Yasamine, and Sam. Tessa coughed slightly, she didn't necessarily want to be categorized as a rich girl but technically she was one, plus her sister who had sat there. "Oh, right sorry sometimes I forget that your sisters with Sam."

"Sadly, for the rest of my life." She rolled her eyes slightly. She didn't necessarily hate Sam, and she would do anything for her despite how she acted towards her.

She was family. And as much as she didn't get along with Sam, she would do anything for her family.

"Do you ever talk to them, or..." Miguel trailed off his question, not taking his eyes off of the table of girls.

"Oh yeah, all the time." Demetri stated, pausing to raise his hand. "We hang out after school, make out, give each other hand jobs." Miguel quickly rolled his eyes as Tessa gave him a slight smirk. "Eli here is the homecoming king. Gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right Eli?" Eli smiled at Demetri as the boy continued. "Tessa is our Homecoming queen, you should see her, hottest girl in the school... Talk to them, I was only being half serious, Tessa you are very hot and if you wanted you could be homecoming queen."

"Like I would want to be queen. Also, very bold Demetri, I like it, thanks." Tessa laughed slightly at the boys words, taking a sip of her drink.

"You do realize what table you're sitting at, right? You've pretty much signed away all hopes of losing your virginity before college." Demetri pointed out.

Eli looked away and noticed Yasmines gaze. "Oh shit, Yasmines looking at us. Probably just making fun of me." Eli spoke, trying to cover his lip

"I-I don't think she's making fun of you. I mean, just because there hot doesn't mean there mean. I mean, look at Tessa." He paused for a second, eyes widening as he realized what he had just said. "Oh, uh, I, uh." He began to stutter his words, looking for an explanation before he gave up at Tessa's words.

"Thanks, I guess." She smirked slightly, looking at Miguel as he still tried to find the right words.

"I don't care if Yasmine's the meanest girl at school. I'd kill all three of you just to get her to spit in my face." Bringing back the conversation to the group of girls that were sitting at the table by the wall, Demetri turned back around to look at the group.

"Wow Dem, shows where your loyalties are. Why are we still talking about them? Yasmine is a bitch who doesn't know how to mind her own business." Tessa scoffed at Demetri's words, also turning back over to look at the girls as she spoke.

"Well Demetri, even if she is the meanest girl in school, if you don't make a move, you'll never have a shot." Miguel pointed out.

"True." Demetri pointed out, pointing a finger at him. "But I'll also never suffer a humiliating rejection. I'm at peace with my depression. Last thing I need to be is suicidal."

Tessa squirmed in here seat at Demetri's words. She kept her head down so nobody would notice her change.

She tried not to think of it too much. That time period in her life was over. And that's how she wanted it to stay.

Eli's eyes softened as he watched the girl as she started to pick at her nails anxiously. Nobody but him had seemed to notice as she did so. Nobody knew about what happened besides him.

He was the only person she had ever told. She wouldn't have even told him if he wasn't there the night that it happened.

He wanted so badly to grab her hand, tell her it was okay, that it was over. But he knew he couldn't.

Miguel slowly rose from his seat, still staring at the rich table.

"What are you doing?" Demetri asked in a panicked voice.

"Striking first." He mumbled.

"Oh shit. Hope we don't get hit with the shrapnel." Demetri sighed. Tessa watched from her seat, finally looking up as Miguel slowly started to walk over to Sam's table. Sam noticed the boy walking her way, giving him smile. Miguel nodded his head, the girl behind him who was still sitting down sighing at the interaction.

The moment Sam and Miguel shared was quickly interrupted as Brucks and Kyler sit down at the table, Kyler wrapping his arm around Sam while saying something.

Tessa looked away from the interaction, not wanting to see Miguel get even more embarrassed. She looked back up at the sound of Miguel sitting back down at their table with a sigh.

"So, how'd it go?" Demetri asked, mockingly.

"Yeah, did you get to flirt with my sister?"  Tessa asked, nobody noticing the attitude she had while saying it.

"That was your sister?" Miguel replied.

"Uh, huh." She mumbled, nodding her head.

˜"*°•.˜"*°• -----------------------------------•°*"˜.•°*"˜

The sun had just set, not quite pitch black but not necessarily light out either. The LaRusso family, minus Anthony as he was at a sleepover, all sat around the table with Kyler Park, Sam's new boyfriend, as Daniel explained to the table about the dinner they were soon to eat. This was the first time Daniel was meeting the boy, and all Sam wanted was for it to go perfectly. However, Tessa was just waiting for the boy to slip up, so she could taunt Sam about the interactions.

"The yanagi, or yanagiba, depending on the region, is a knife used exclusively for cutting sashimi." Nobody at the table seemed to notice as Kyler continued to look back and forth from Sam and Tessa, even though Sam watched him with lovely eyes, she couldn't catch on to the sick game Kyler wanted to play with her sister. "I picked this bad boy up on my first trip to Okinawa. Volia." Daniel said, taking a piece of sashimi and putting it on a plate. "The famous LaRusso ponzu toro." He passed the plate of sushi towards Kyler as Amanda clapped.

"Uh, no, thanks. I don't like sushi." Kyler raised his hands as he declined the food. Tessa couldn't help but laugh at the boys words. Sam glared at the girl as Amanda tapped Tessa's hand, silently telling her to stop.

"Uh, are you sure you just don't wanna try a little piece?" Amanda questioned, taking her eyes off of her stepdaughter.

"It melts in your mouth." Daniel tried to convince him, only getting shut down once more.

"Nah, fish kinda grosses me out." Kyler shook his head as he spoke, getting a shocked look from Daniel. Tessa still trying not to laugh as the group talked.

"No, you like fish. What about the fish sticks at school?" Sam persisted, trying anything to get him to eat the fish, knowing all the hours Tessa would stay in her room just to pick on her about this.

"Oh yeah, fish sticks are dope." Kyler said, slightly smiling before looking up at Daniel. "You have fish sticks?"

"Oh my god." Tessa muttered, a smirk present on her face as she looked down, shaking her head.

"Uh no, just this fresh fish I picked up from the Japanese market this morning." Daniel sighed as he spoke, although he tried to keep the conversation light.

"You know, why don't we go see if we can find Kyler something he can eat. Sam, you wanna come with me to the kitchen?" Amanda broke the awkward silence as she put her hand on Sam's arm, gesturing her to stand up.

"Sure." The mother and daughter got out of the seat, leaving the three in an awkward silence.

"You know what, I'm going to the bathroom." Tessa announced, getting out of her seat as quick as she possibly could.

˜"*°•.˜"*°• -----------------------------------•°*"˜.•°*"˜

Miguel stood in the new dojo he had just joined as he washed the windows from the office. Johnny Lawrence, his Sensei, had been filling out forms, not caring about the boy he had forced to clean and do the hard work around his dojo.

"Hey, Sensei, is there any particular way you want me to wash these windows?" Miguel finally spoke up, not gaining a lot of attention from his Sensei as he didn't look up from his paper while he spoke.

"Nah, I don't give a shit. Whatever's easiest." Miguel had continued his work, pausing as the dojo was filled with a familiar beeping noise.

"Hey Sensei, can I take this call?" Miguel spoke up, fishing in his pockets for his phone as he talked.

"I don't give a shit. And I already told yah, kid, you don't have to call me Sensei all the time."

Miguel finally found his phone, smiling slightly at the name that popped up on his phone.

Incoming call from        Tessa LaRusso <3

He accepted it without hesitation, the smile he had before brightening as he heard her voice.

"Miguel!" She nearly shouted into her phone as he picked up. "Do you think you could come save me? My dad had Sam invite Kyler over so they could meet him and now I'm currently hiding in my bathroom because I don't want to deal with them."

"You're hiding in your bathroom?" Miguel laughed, Johnny watching the conversation with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, I am, what would you do if Kyler was at your house?" She spoke in an obvious tone.

"I would probably die. However as much as I would love to come save you, I can't I'm at the dojo and my Sensei is training me, I'll call you when I'm done though."

"Okay, I'll talk to you later, Miguel. Wish me luck I'll most likely have to leave this bathroom after this."

"Good luck." He waited until she hung up before taking his phone away from his ear. He sat his phone back into his pocket, going to grab the spray and rag again, stopping as he looked through the window at Johnny.

"What don't tell me you got a girlfriend or something?" Johnny asked, a smirk plastered on his face as he spoke.

"What no, that was just my friend Tessa. She just needed me for something, that's it." Miguel blushed slightly, looking down at the floor as he spoke.

"She. I'll be damned I didn't think you would have any friends that were girls, let alone any friends." He muttered his last sentence to himself, Miguel still hearing him as he rolled his eyes playfully with a smile. "You know what? Just go clean the toilet, and we'll call it a night. That way you can go see that little girlfriend of yours."

"She's not my girlfriend, Sensei." Miguel did as he was told, walking towards the bathroom as he shook his head.

"And do that one on your hands and knees." Johnny yelled out to him.
