Another nearly sleepless night. It didn't make sense, if anything he should be sleeping better. The strange dreams he used to have had stopped months earlier. He should be grateful, the dreams had always bothered him. hey where confusing and sometimes unsettling. Like tiny glimpses into another world, one where he was only ever on the sidelines. He hadn't like the dreams, or at least he had always told himself that.

But now that they had stopped, it bothered him twice as much as any of the dreams had.

He wanted to see them again. The people that where in his dreams. Most of them where a few years younger than him. The girl with the purple hair who was in almost every dream, the boy with the long black hair, the boy with the short brown hair, the girl with the green hair. They had all had streaks of black in their hair. But most of all he remembered the blue haired boy, the red haired girl, and the girl with the pure white hair. The girl with the white hair was the only one he could remember the details of their face. He remembered how her snowy hair had become streaked in black until it was almost half and half when the dreams stopped.

Who where they? He felt an almost sort of connection with them, but as far as he knew they probably wheren't real. Just characters his mind had dreamed up to keep him entertained with his boring life. The boy reached a hand up to his hair, running his fingers through his golden locks. Surely he was over thinking all this. It was just a dream, right? Still he couldn't be sure. He also once thought he was just a normal kid, but that had been disproved a pretty long while ago.

"Hey, you alright Rune?" a quite voice interrupted his thoughts.

He looked up to see his one and only true friend leaning against his open door. She must have let herself in. Rune didn't respond for a second. She looked so perfect standing there, she always looked perfect though.

"Oh yeah, I'm fine," he smiled, "just lost in thought."

She nodded, "your lost in thought a lot these days. Just what exactly are you thinking about?"

He shrugged, "the dreams I used to have."

She perked up a bit at the mention of his dreams. He always used to to tell her about them, and she always seemed to love to listen. In fact she seemed to love to listen to any story. "Did you have another one?" she couldn't keep her hope out of her voice.

"No. Sorry, Theora. Still nothing." Rune gave her an apologetic smile.

"Oh," Theora only managed to hide most of her disappointment.

The heard the downstairs door open and close gently. Rune and Theora headed down stairs to meet the new arrival.

"Hey dad," Rune said with a little wave.

Theora nodded her greeting.

"Good morning you two," the man said with a weary smile.

"And good night to you dad," Rune laughed, "you worked all night, go get some rest."

He smiled, "thanks Rune," and then headed off to his bedroom.

Rune headed outside, wanting to make sure he didn't make any noise that might keep his dad awake.

"It's finally warm again," he smiled as he stepped out side. They where now standing in front of the small and simple house. It was nice compared to the others in town, a bit more secluded and private. Rune's dad worked hard to afford this place and raise his son on his own. "Come on lets go for a walk," he laughed heading toward the forest.

"Whatever," Theora shrugged her shoulders and followed him. Her hair blew gently in the soft breeze. Rune thought he could look at her all day, with her natural grace. She was beautiful even though she wasn't trying to be. He turned around and kept walking, not wanting to be caught staring. He knew he had feelings for her, but she had never shown any signs of returning those affections.

"This is about where we met, isn't it?" Rune said.

"Yeah, I think so. It's been a long time though," Theora said looking around the small clearing.

"Yeah it has been, hasn't it?" he smiled.

Theora raised an eyebrow at him, "why are you asking me? Your very unsure of yourself today, you know."

"I guess I am, why do you think that is?" he threw a devilish smile her way.

She gave him a half smile and a little chuckle, "OK, now your just messing with me."

"That is correct," Rune said with another smirk before heading under a tree to sit down.

"I though you wanted to go for a walk," Theora scoffed playfully.

"Yeah, well, that required effort," he winked, letting laziness get the better of him.

She sat down next to him with her legs out in front of her and her back against the tree. "So you've really had no other dreams?" even though Theora was ninety percent sure of the answer already she was always hoping for a new story.

Rune shrugged sadly, "yeah, they just, stopped."

"What was the last one about?" she asked again.

He carefully retold what the last dream he had once again. It had looked like a battle, but when the purple haired girl had been injured the dream stopped rather abruptly.

"Do you think she died? The purple haired girl, I mean."

He couldn't help but laugh at little, "I don't even know if they're real."

"Well, regardless if she was real or not, do you think she died?" Theora pushed, not settling for not understanding.

Rune thought it over for a moment. "Yeah, I think she might have died."

"Then maybe she was the main character of your dreams," she said looking deep in thought, "I mean, there's no story without a main character, right?"

"I suppose, but what about all the supporting characters? Like the blue haired bot, or the black haired boy, and the white and red haired girls. Even if a main character dies, and even if that concludes the main plot, aren't there still supporting characters and side plots?" He argued. "And say there were real, I'm not saying they are it's just an if, then unless all of them died they still be out there."

Theora chewed on that idea for a moment, the stood rather suddenly.

"Wait, where are you going?" Rune hoped up and hurried after her.

"Into town, to find out if these people are real. I mean, the battle you described almost sounded like a full out war? Lots of people come here for trade, and they love to gossip, i'm sure we could hear about it if we poke around enough."

"That's," Rune started, not really knowing what it was.

"What? Brilliant that I though of it? Or creepy that I've eavesdropped enough to hear enough gossip to get the idea?" Theora chuckled a bit.

"A little bit of both," he nodded and laughed.

As they walked back Rune could have sworn he heard someone sobbing. However when he asked Theora if she'd heard anything, she raised an eye brow and asked he'd gotten enough sleep. Then when they passed by Rune's house house they saw his dad out front, it surprised him that he was awake. He appeared to be holding a rather important looking letter, with a royal looking seal that Rune had not seen before. Before he could ask his father about it Theora grabbed his hand and hurried him along, eager to get into town.

Rune just shook his head. He must not have gotten enough sleep.

Whatever exactly was going through his head, whatever excuses he was making for the little odd happenings, nothing could have prepared him for the mess he was getting tangled up in.

~~~~oOoOo~~~~
Inazuma was in fact laying on the roof, absent mindfully hitting her heels on the roof hoping it would annoy Amon enough that he let her in. Finally she heard the door creak open, and the weak light from inside spilled out onto the dark grass.
"Fine," she heard him say exasperatedly, "come in, see if I care."
"As moody as ever," she said as she skipped inside. "Back to depression are we?"
"Shut up, I didn't let you come in to talk about my feelings," Amon snorted.
"Hmm, nope, still angry I see. And good, I don't want to hear about your feelings anyway. If I did I would have become a therapist," Inazuma said in a matter-of-fact-ly way.
Amon sat down on the bed with his back against the wall and was soon joined by Inazuma who sat cross legged beside him. "Anyway, I need more details."
"You really are desperate, aren't you?" she sighed.
Amon gave her a sort of "do you even need to ask" look.
"Right, I should be able to tell just by looking at you the answer to that question. I mean, you look like crap. Like you're going to just fall over dad any minute," she teased him.
"Focus," Amon groaned.
"Alright, but first, are you absolutely sure? There's no turning back after this you realize," Inazuma warned him rather seriously.
"I thought we were long past turning back already, Akemi," he was growing impatient.
Inazuma cringed, "don't toss that name around so freely."
"Then get on with it," Amon sighed.
"Well, judging by what you've told me, my theory is..."
The two talked long into the night, before Amon finally nodded off in the early hours of the morning. Inazuma draped a blanket over him and then continued pacing back and forth in the small room. She was nervous, and couldn't understand how calmly and casually Amon was taking everything.
Humans are so odd, she couldn't help but think, the moment "love" is involved even the best ones turn completely irrational.
Woo! New characters! And lots of foreshadowing! XD
Jeez, I already don't know where this story is headed, I originally wasn't going to have these characters show up for a while. But I just started typing and I guess my fingers had other plans. Or maybe I'm just impatient. XD
And picture of Rune is coming soon, but photbucket is being a jerk so I could only get one picture up this chapter, sorry. :(
But isn't the pick awesome?! BiancaRosenburrg drew that (Theora is her character) cuz she's just that amazing and stuff. XD
