"You sure you'd manage? "
Fay asked
"Yeah don't worry! I'll be back before 6 "
I assured her looking down at my wrist watch which indicated that I had less than 3 hours
After the little run down to my past, Aaron has helped me make lunch before Fay came back.
Fay and Aaron insisted that I ate with them but I knew
Justin wouldn't like that
So I convinced them that I wasn't hungry
And now Aaron was asleep while Fay was just.. Chilling in the living room... Like a normal college student.
I made my way out of the house adjusting the bag strips on my shoulder I was carrying in nervousness.
I was dressed in a light blue crop top with high waisted jeans and my only converse.
Okay.. You got this.
I told myself as I began walking.
It was a really peaceful and nice society in which Aaron lived.
It took me a little over 30 minutes to reach the busy streets of Boston
Looking around I observed how every individual on the street was trying to reach somewhere. How all of them were emerged into something. They had jobs, family.. a home to go to.
Where as I just stood in the middle not knowing what to do.
I felt my social anxiety creeping back.
I thought it was gone.
Well, Andrew made it go.
I always had him by my side.
But not anymore.
Now it was just me
Me against everything.. everyone
I felt my palms sweating as I continued to wipe them on the straps of my bag.
Taking deep breaths I tried controlling my uneven heartbeats
Am I really having a panic attack in the middle of a street?
I placed my hand on my stomach as I pushed my mind to think about my baby .
Everything I'm doing is for my baby

It made me control my breathing and made it somehow bearable as I resumed walking
I scanned through the streets looking for I don't know what exactly.
I just kept roaming around until I saw a sign on a cafe door and my steps halted
"Waitress needed"
Taking a sigh of relief I grabbed the door handle and pushed it open as a strong coffee aroma engulfed me immediately
Looking around I saw how cozy yet formal the environment was.
There were hardly any couples here, all I could see was either some men in what felt like a meeting or something or people engrossed in their laptops
No wonder why they need female servers precisely
Adjusting the straps on my shoulder once again I made my way towards the counter , there sat a young man most likely to be in his early twenties
He had blonde hair, piercing blue eyes and a cute nose. He was dressed in a simple white tshirt and jeans with an apron over it that had the logo of the cafe
"Excuse me?"
He looked up at me
"Yes? " He asked, his eyes staring right at me while his lips turned into a small smile

"Uh-um You guys are looking for a waitress? " I asked him nervously
Wow, great start
"Yes, are you interested in the job? " He asked his soft voice now turning into a more formal one
"Yes " I nodded
"May I know your name? " He asked again
"S-Sia " I whispered
"Okay give me a minute" He said before getting up and disappearing in the back.
I looked around for a bit shifting on my legs uncomfortably before he eventually came back.
"Our manager would like to meet you , in here"
He informed me as he gestured towards the door at the back in which he has disappeared a while ago
I gave him a nod with a quick smile and made my way towards the door
My feet felt heavier than a rock. I couldn't get myself to walk. But taking another deep sigh I knocked on the door
"Come in " A deep voice rang in my ears
I twisted the door nob, before pushing it open and walking in
There sat an old man most probably in his 60s .
He gave me a soft smile as soon as our eyes met.
Even though I was nervous as hell, his aura and the vibes of the room provided me a strange warmth
Maybe because he looked so much like my father
I returned the gesture and made my way towards the seat opposite to him
"Sit" He said
"Good evening sir "
"Evening, miss Sia right ?" He raised his wrinkled eyebrows at me
"Ye-yes . S-Sia Singh" I answered not daring to look up
"Oh you're Indian?"
I nodded , too nervous to reply
"Listen Sia, you don't need to be nervous. I am just gonna ask you to give me a brief intro of yours. That's all . Okay? " I assured me, his deep yet calming voice made my nervousness vanish a little
I took a deep breath before speaking
"I-Im 26 years old. I m-moved to Boston a day ago. I am a college drop out. I am currently living with a-a f-friend of mine.I don't really have any family left and I am also 3 months pregnant.. "
I looked up at him to see his wrinkled eyes go wide but he didn't say anything
"That's why I-I need this job. I have to provide for my baby"
I knew my eyes showed nothing but pure desperation for this job as I stared back at him.
He just sat there. Quiet.
"Why did you move here? " He asked after a moment of silence
"I-I.. " I couldn't speak. I kept opening and closing my mouth as my heart began beating faster
After waiting for like 30 seconds
He slightly shook his head before writing something down.
"Can I see your ID? " He muttered
I nodded before I quickly pulled it out of my bag
I passed it to him and saw him he looked at it then nodded to himself
"Your shift would start from 10am and end at 6 in the evening. You'd get a lunch break from 1 to 2 pm. You'd be paid $15 per hour and sunday would be your day off. Will that work? "
I nodded again. I hardly care about the work hours, I just need the money.
"You can have the job then" He whispered and gave me a soft smile
My eyes went wide while my lips turned into the largest smile
"Thank you! Thank you so much sir! " I exclaimed
"You can come at 9 am tomorrow. Ashton will give you the instructions to your job then. And then you can start from 10 am tomorrow itself. Sounds good? "
I nodded excitedly
I assumed that the blue eyed boy is Ashton.
" Have a nice day sir. Thank you " I wished him before making my way out
The nervousness was now long gone.
"I assume you get the job"
I heard as soon as I came out of the room
I looked to my right at Ashton who stood just by the door smiling down at me
Damn.. He's like.. Really tall
Looking down as blood rushed to my cheek I nodded.
"I'm Ashton. I'll be giving you the instructions and show you around " He forwarded his hand towards me
I hesitated for a bit before taking his hand and again nodding
"You're such a cutie " He chuckled before giving my hand a squeeze
I couldn't look up neither could I speak. My cheeks were of the shade of a beetroot as he finally let go of hand
I turned around quickly trying to hide my blush . I heard him chuckling some more before I looked up and began walking out of the cafe
Only to stop dead in my track as my eyes made contact with someone I wanted to avoid at any cost
My gaze shifted to the company he had before going back to him as my heart dropped
There was a girl thousands times more prettier than me
