Title: My Son Might be a Villain
Translator: Fringe Capybara
Chapter 251 - "The one that you referred to as scumbag in the past." (2)

“Oh?” Su Ran was stupefied by Lu Shao’s random comment. Then, she seemed to somewhat figured something out. Yet, she didn’t know where to begin.

She wanted to say that she and that man had “beef” in the past. Then, the next second, she recalled that Lu Shao had looked into her and would, naturally, be aware of everything that had transpired between the original owner and Song ZeYu. Su Ran immediately decided that remaining silent was her best course of action.

After what had just happened, Su Ran suddenly had a lot of questions for Lu Shao. Nevertheless, with Su Han there with them, she had to put those aside for a later time.

***

Su Ran didn’t remember where Lu Shao parked the day before but, when the three of them went down the elevator, Lu Shao’s car was parked in the spot closest to the elevator. Naturally, Su Ran ride in the back with her son this time as well.

In the car.

Only after Su Ran had fallen asleep while leaning against him did Su Han finally looked up and took a look at Lu Shao, who was driving up front, through the rearview mirror.

“What was that guy earlier?” asked Su Han.

Earlier, back in the hotel, he was just about to walk out of the door when Su Ran slammed the door shut.

As such, he didn’t catch the entire conversation between the three of them.

But that did not mean that he failed to notice that the woman was a little off.

Lu Shao’s lips flatted out when he heard Su Han’s question.

“He’s the one who you called ‘scum’ before.”

“WHAT?!”

Su Han’s eyes widened when he heard what Lu Shao had said. The fake calm look that he had put on looked very interesting all of a sudden.

“You mean to tell me that the man back there was, was the scum that my mother was ... in the past?” Su Han took a look at Su Ran and continued to ask Lu Shao.

Nevertheless, he wasn’t able to bring himself to say “fond of”.

Hrm! A scum who had no idea how good he had it. He didn’t deserve her fondness. Only because this foolish woman has poor taste in man that made her thought that she was fond of someone like him.

Su Han gritted his teeth as he thought to himself.

Even though Su Ran had omitted some of the facts about what had happened in the past and that he did not catch the entire conversation earlier, that did not stop Su Han from giving the man a negative score.

“Quiet down,” reminded Lu Shao after took a look at Su Han and then the sleeping Su Ran.

“Oh.” Su Han responded. He couldn't help but looked down at the woman who was leaning up against him and using his shoulder as her free pillow.

Recalling how Su Ran had reacted when she saw the man, Su Han’s look deepened and another question occurred to him.

If she had reacted so when she saw the man earlier then, could the scum had something to do with her emotions being off the last few days?

Su Han narrowed his eyes and a sharp coldness that should not belong to someone his age flashed past his eyes.

Lu Shao noticed the look that flashed past Su Han’s face.

When Su Han did say anything at first, Lu Shao wondered whether this kid was too shocked. Who would have thought, when he looked in the rearview mirror, he saw the cold look on Su Han.

Lu Shao pinched his lips together and had a pretty good idea.

Except, the very next second, he saw that Su Han had looked up and looked at him with an inquisitive look.

And he heard a question coming from that made him want to beat him up.

“So, you were being jealous earlier?” Su Han looked straight as Lu Shao as he asked, enunciating every single word.

This time, it was the usual nonchalant look on Mr. Lu that began to crack.

Lu Shao snickered after a long while.

“Jealous? Right.” Lu Shao let out a tsk and added, “You think I’ll be jealous of that Song ZeYu?”

But that was exactly what happened.

Su Han rolled his eyes at Lu Shao and thought to himself. Then he added. “That only prove that my mother has bad taste in man.”

Su Han couldn’t figure it out why Su Ran would a man like so attractive back in the days.

He had no aura, no chivalry, and, most importantly, he was a scum who was good at nothing but deceiving women.

As for his look? It was just alright.

Way worse than his. Perhaps even worse than the man sitting in the front right now.

“You are right,” said Lu Shao.

From Lu Shao’s perspective, Song ZeYu was very mediocre.

Having said that, Lu Shao and Su Han exchanged a look in the rearview mirror and both seemed to have read their contempt toward Song ZeYu in each other’s eyes.

For the very first time, this father and son were seeing eye to eye on something.

“As such, if you don’t want to become the stepson of a scum, I suggest you to try opening up to me,” suggested Lu Shao, seemingly quite seriously, after glancing over at Su Han.

Upon hearing that, Su Han’s face stiffened a little and then it dropped immediately.

“I think you are overthinking this!” Su Han gave Lu Shao a contemptuous stare and said rudely, “Stepson? Hrm! You think I’ll allow a scum like him to be around my mother?”

“You, on the other hand.” Su Han snickered at Lu Shao and said contemptuously, “I think you should worry about yourself first.”

Su Ran was oblivious to how Lu Shao had been treating her but Su Han wasn’t blind.

Nevertheless, it was quite obvious that his mother wasn’t interested in Lu Shao in that way at all.

The scumbag earlier though….

Something occurred to him and Su Han, frowning, looked like he had just swallowed a fly.

Su Ran would probably never had guessed that when she reflexively blocked Su Han in the room and didn’t want to the male lead to see him was interpreted by Su Han as such:

Perhaps his mother still had feeling for that scumbag. Or, even if she no longer had feelings for her, she must have strong feelings for him back in the days. She didn’t want to let him out earlier because she didn’t want the man to see that she already had a son.

Thinking of that, Su Han suddenly gave Lu Shao a very contemptuously look. And, amidst the contemptuous loo, there seemed to be a hint of why couldn’t you have done more meaning in it.

Upon hearing that, Lu Shao’s look darkened a little. He looked straight ahead quietly and only snickered after a little while.

“You really think I will leave matters that I should ‘worry about’ alone?”

Of course not.

Su Han might not know about all that had happened before but Lu Shao knew all about them. Regardless of whether he found Song ZeYu’s existence bothersome, just what Song ZeYu and the now Mrs. Song had done to Su Ran was sufficient for him to want to interfere.

Something seemed to have occurred to Su Han from what Lu Shao had said. He pondered a little.

“You are going to take care of him?” Su Han frowned a little and asked in a deep voice. A look of displeasure flashed passed his eyes.

That was something that he wanted to take care of himself. He didn’t want this shameless man to beat him to it!

Su Han grumbled to himself. He seemed to be very displeased about the level of his current ability.

Upon hearing that, Lu Shao gave Su Han a weightless look. He did not carry on on this subject.

“What you need to do now is to focus on your school work. As for the rest, that’s adult territory. You shouldn’t need to worry about them,” said Lu Shao to Su Han solemnly.

“So I should just stay out of it just because you said so? Who do you think you are?” Su Han, staring in front of him, retorted.

“I have the ability to crush the Song’s but you don’t,” replied Lu Shao concisely.

Su Han, “… …”

***

Inside the car, Su Ran was oblivious to the “battle” between the father and son about their individual abilities.

By the time she had woken up, the car was almost at the countryside.

Next to her, Su Han was carrying with him two boxes with the aroma of food seeping out of them.

“This…”

Looking at the two boxes that appeared out of nowhere, Su Han was a bit baffled. When did these two boxes get inside the car? Or, when did they buy them?

They looked to still be warm.

You were asleep earlier so we didn’t wake you. We got take out instead.” Luo Xiu explained to Su Ran when he saw the confusion on her.

“Oh? Is that so…” Was she asleep that soundly?

“Oh, I apologize,” said Su Ran to Lu Shao apologetically.

After all, he had particularly invited her to experience that restaurant that was raved about. She had, nevertheless, fallen asleep in the car.

“It’s no problem,” said Lu Shao with his lips curved upward.

Pausing a little, Lu Shao went on, “We got both of their house specialties and their morning tea. You should try them when they are still warm.”

“Sure, sure. Yes. Thank you.”

Su Ran nodded. She couldn’t wait to take the two boxes of pastries from her son.

They smelled incredible and she was sure they would taste even better.

Su Ran opened up the two food boxes that looked particularly high-end and saw that each of the two boxes had 6 very delicate-looking pastries in them.

One of them shaped like a little pumpkin and there seemed to be some sort of a filling inside. The other one looked like an egg tart except that the ingredient on the top was purple in color with a layer of shredded coconuts.

“This one has pumpkin filling and the owner said the other one is purple yam flavored.” Su Han explained next to her.

Su Ran’s eyes sparkled as she listened to Su Han.

Both of them were her favorite!

Besides, they already sounded delicious!

No wonder the shop was raved about! Mr. Lu surely did not lie to her!

She had no idea what other kind of pastries the shop had.

Looking at the two types of pastries in front of her, Su Ran felt quite regretful that she had fallen asleep.

Looking at the regret in Su Ran’s eyes, Su Han had a fairly good idea what they meant.

He gave Lu Shao a rude look and said, “I wanted to wake you up but someone won’t let me.”

“We can go again if you like their pastries.”

That was Lu Shao who said that.

Su Ran’s eyes lit up when she heard that.

Made sense. They were going to be there for over a week. From the way Lu Shao had described it, the shop wasn’t too far away from their hotel.

She could totally bring her son with her when the competition was less intense.

Su Ran had it all planned out in her mind, habitually omitting the “we” part from Lu Shao just a little while ago.

As they talked, Su Ran couldn’t wait but placed a little pumpkin into her mouth.

She hadn’t expected that while the mini pumpkin looked so nice and smooth, there was a crispy layer wrapped under the glutinous exterior. Inside of that was soft and smooth fillings that was almost fluid. There was even a hint of milky taste amidst the slight sweet pumpkin flavor.

It was simply incredible!

“Oh, right. You two haven’t eaten yet, have you?” asked Su Ran after she had recollected herself.

“Mmm.”

“Here, son. Try this! This is amazing.” After Su Han had nodded, Su Ran picked up one of the mini pumpkins and pushed it in front of Su Han’s mouth as though she was promoting it.

Much like at home, Su Ran would always shove a piece into Su Han’s mouth whenever she had someone delicious.

Su Han was very used to that already.

Seeing that the pastry was almost at his mouth, Su Han opened up his mouth reflexively and was about to take a bite out of it.

All of a sudden, a “cold air” sliced through and Su Han noticed the look coming from Lu Shao from the front.

Ho.

Su Han snickered to himself and calmly took a bite out of the mini pumpkin as Mr. Lu looked on.

It was a little sweet. It tasted… alright?

Why did the woman rave about it so?

Whatever. If she liked it so much, he could go with her again if the opportunity present itself.

Providing that Lu Shao didn’t tag along with them.

“Is it good?”

“Yes, it is.”

“What about this one?” asked Su Han as he pointed at the box with the purple yam-flavored box after replying to Su Ran’s question.

“Oh, I haven’t tried this one yet. But it should be pretty good. Here, try one,” said Su Ran as she placed purple “egg tarts” into both her own and Su Han’s mouths.

Sure enough, that was very good too!

Ugh, Mr. Lu, you haven’t eaten yet either, have you?” Su Ran, after contently devoured a purple yam pastry, finally recalled Lu Shao who had hard at driving in the front.

“It’s alright…” Lu Shao was about to say that he’d have it when they arrived at their destination.

He then heard Su Ran saying, “Perhaps you should have one first to tie you over.”

“Don’t move. You are driving. Let me hand it over to you.”

Hearing what Su Ran was saying, Lu Shao, who was about to turned down the sweets immediately changed his mind about saying something.

“Sounds good.” Lu Shao’s lips curved upward and he said, “Thanks.”

“No problem. We should be thanking you,” said Su Ran casually.

Suddenly, Su Han randomly tossed out a, “Mom, I don’t think Mr. Lu likes sweets.”

Su Han did not say that out of the kindness of his heart but he wasn’t lying either. After staying over at the Lu’s for a few days and, per his observation, Lu Shao was not a fan of any sweet dishes.

“Oh? Is that so?”

That made sense. When one gets up there in age, one’s chances of high cholesterol, blood pressure, or diabetes will also go up.

“Then…”

Su Ran was about to suggest perhaps pulling over in a little while and get other food.

At this moment, Lu Shao interjected, “I want it.”

“As for the last few days,” said Lu Shao as he shot the boy a warning look. Then, in a serious tone, he said, “I was only concerned that a 13-year-old adolescent boy should not have too much sugar intake. Which was why I told the kitchen to rein in on sweets.”

“Oh, I see. That is so thoughtful of you,” said Su Ran with a smile. What Lu Shao had said made sense to her.

Sure enough, she did not want her son to grow into Liu Yangyang’s size.

Perhaps she should only order milk tea for herself next time.

“The pastries from this place aren’t too sweet. They are low on sugar. You can try one, Lu Shao.”

“Okay.”

Su Han, “!”

This Lu guy was so shameless!

Su Han was about to blow up when he saw Lu Shao shamelessly ate the pastry that Su Ran had handed over.

And, what was that look that he was giving him? Was he instigating something?

“Mom, I don’t think you have washed your hands,” said Su Han all of a sudden.

Su Ran, “?!”

“I washed them. What do you mean I didn’t?”

“No, you didn’t.” Su Han gave Lu Shao a glance then said very definitively, “You washed them before you applied your makeup, not after.”

Su Ran: What, what, what? Is it this difficult to raise a son during his rebellious period?

“Ahem. I washed my hands before I applied my makeup but I applied my makeup with tools. I didn’t get my hands dirty,” said Su Ran righteously as she glared at her son.

“Besides, you seemed to have enjoyed the pastries when I fed them to you,” asked Su Ran, her brows raised.

“That’s not the same.” Su Han retorted. He paused, frowned, and grumbled, “I do not resent you.”

Besides, the “enjoying part” was faked, okay?

Luckily, Su Han only thought about that last part to himself. He did not say it out loud. Su Ran was very pleased by the “I do not resent you” part coming from her son.

“Good job, Classmate Su Han.

“Have another one then. You must have them while they are still warm. They are not as good cold. Here,” said Su Ran as she handed the box over to Su Han.

“I didn’t wash my hands.

“Really”

“Don’t eat too much. We will be having lunch once we arrive at our destination,” said Lu Shao coldly as he looked at his “fed” son through the rearview mirror.

“Are we almost there?”

“Mmmhmm, another 5 minutes or so,” said Lu Shao as he glanced over at the navigation.

***

Just as Lu Shao had said, they arrived shortly at a very well-known tourist spot.

“Yulou, built some 600 years ago for Emperor Wu for the summer…” Lu Shao provided the commentary.

Su Ran had read about this online as well before visiting City N.

That being said, comparing to the pictures and description online, being here in person along with Mr. Lu’s commentary, the experience was unrivaled!

Perhaps because the holidays didn’t start till tomorrow. They barely ran into any other visitors after wandering around for half a day.

“I read online that there was an excellent restaurant here too?” asked Su Ran as she looked over at Lu Shao.

“Yes, it’s right over there. We will be able to see it after we round that corner.” Lu Shao pointed at the building that was perfectly located and, as though he had read Su Ran’s mind, smiled and said, “I have already placed our orders with them. We can just go over there now.”

Su Ran: Lord!

What kind of an amazing guide was this Lu Shao?!

Su Ran looked at Lu Shao, then over at Su Han.

She sudden felt that if Su Han could inherit his birth father’s ability to convince others, she would not have to worry about his marriage for a day.

***

After they left the restaurant, Lu Shao brought Su Ran and Su Han to visit a few more places. Wherever they went, there were not a lot of people just like the first location.

And they ran into no issues at all on their way.

If she didn’t clearly remember that Lu Shao resided in City B in the past, then went overseas, Su Ran would suspect that he was a native of City N.

Considering about Su Ran’s competition the next day, the three did not stay out too late. Lu Shao brought the two of them back to the hotel after dinner.

After they have returned to their room, Su Ran changed and was about to go look for Lu Shao when she noticed that he was already waiting for her outside of her room door.

“Lu Shao?”

“Um, is Su Han in bed already?” asked Su Ran as she looked over at the room next to her.

“No, he’s working on his homework assignment.”

“Then…”

“There’s something that you want to ask me, right?” Lu Shao had finished her sentence for her as she was hesitating about how to broach the subject.

“Yes.” Su Ran nodded. Then asked, “Will that be alright?”

Su Ran wasn’t too certain. After all, what she wanted to asked had a lot to do with male lead and his family but also involved Lu Shao some.

Hearing that, Lu Shao gave her a tender look and a smile.

“Sure.” He gave her a very definitive answer. “Anything that you want to know, as long as I know the answers.”

“Is now a good time?” asked Lu Shao as he looked into Su Ran’s room.

“Em, let’s go somewhere else,” said Su Ran with a little frown.

Even though Teacher Li Yan was not there today either but she still feel odd to have someone of the opposite gender into her room this time of the night.

Upon hearing that, Lu Shao, too, was taken aback a little.

“My apologies.”

“Let’s head to the restaurant downstairs.”

“Alright.”

Su Ran went with Lu Shao to the restaurant downstairs and into a quite private room.

“Good evening, Sir, Madam. What can I get the two of you?”

“Just water, thank you.”

“Sure, what about you, Sir?”

“Same. Two glasses of water, one of them warm.”

“Sure.” Hearing Lu Shao’s words, the server smiled and there was a hint of envy in her eyes when she looked over at Su Ran.

“Two glasses of water coming right up.”

The server quickly brought over two glasses of water and carefully placed the warm glass in front of Su Ran.

“What would you like to know?” asked Lu Shao after the server had left.

Perhaps noticing Su Ran’s hesitation, Lu Shao tried his best to lighten up this tone.

“I can ask about anything?”

“Yes, anything.”

Looking at the struggle on her, Lu Shao wanted very much to tell her that he already knew all about her past and had chosen to accept all of them. As such, there was nothing that she needed to worry about.

Nevertheless, understanding that that would be too abrupt, he finally stopped himself and waited quietly for Su Ran to begin.

“Em, then question number 1.” Su Ran asked, after some hesitation, “You know Song ZeYu?”

“Yes.” Lu Shao nodded and elaborated. “Specifically, my company had worked with his in the past. I only know of him.”

“You mean the Lu family and the Song family had always know each other? Are you close?” asked Su Ran, feeling a bit odd.

Even though the Su family, where original owner was from, was not as powerful as the Song family but they still belonged in the same circle. It didn’t make sense that the original owner, as much attention as she paid to Song ZeYu, knew nothing about Lu Shao, or his family.

“I wouldn’t say close. Just business associates. There are no permanent friends or foes in business. There is more than just cooperation between the Lu and the Song families.”

“Oh, I see.”

“Then.” After some struggle, Su Ran finally couldn't help but asked, “Do you have beef with Song ZeYu from the past?”

Judging from the atmosphere between the two from this morning, Su Ran would not believe it even if Lu Shao had said “no.”

Upon hearing that, Lu Shao chuckled.

“Not in the past, but now we do.” Now that you are here.
