As l make the drive to the hospital
Then a familiar song came on the radio. I listened to the words
It talks about surrivor, thoughts of Lena consume my mind. I know she would want me to be strong, l'm trying everything within me not to fall apart. I wanted to blame God for giving her this awful disease, l knew blaming him was not the answer
I tried not to let this break me
Dad l need you. I feel like everything is starting to crumble around me
Tell me what to do, l say to him as if he can hear me. From the grave
Stay strong for her and don't lose hope, she'll get better l promise you
He says to me. That's when I knew
It was my job as Lena's wife to make sure, everyday she has my love and support to get her through this.
I need to trust and believe things will turn out alright, this is just a little set back. I pulled up to the hospital
I drove around to find a place to park my car, the lot was filled with cars
Finally l found an empty space
And parked the car. I exit the vehicle
Walked through parking lot, as l made my way into the hospital doors.
I went over to the counter, the woman behind the desk was busy typing something on the computer
She didn't notice my presence right away. I cleared my throat to get her attention, then finally she looked up at me. Can I help you the older woman asks me, yes can you please tell me what room is Lena Adams Foster is in. I say it as politely as possible, she begins searching the patient registration. Yes she's up in the cancer unit on the third floor room number 358, you have to the elevators towards the east wing
If you just follow the errors. It will direct to the elevators, she tells me
Thank you l respond. I pulled along the suitcase with me, and went down the hall way. I saw the elevators
The doors open up, and I stepped on to the elevator. Taking it up to the third floor, the medal doors open
I stepped off the elevator. Walked down the long hallways, l looked at the numbers on the rooms. People are moving around, nurses were coming out of patients rooms. Carrying medicine on a tray, filled with small cups. That had pills inside, l looked straight ahead, l came Lena's room
I peek through the window and seen
Lena watching TV with Nathaniel
I enter inside. Hi baby how ya feeling, l said to her. As l sat the suitcase beside the chair, l went over to give  her kiss. I took a seat and begins to tell me, she met the staff. Lena hands me a paper with her new meal plan on it. I folded it up and put in my pocket, Stef they were very informative. And explained everything in detail Nathaniel says
I'm sorry I didn't get back sooner
Stef replies, it's love all that matters is your here now Lena responds. Did you have anything to eat, Stef asks me
Please don't mention food Lena said
Why what happened? Nothing really
I just got sick on the helicopter as we were making our way back here
Lena tells me. Nathaniel looked down at his watch, alright ladies I think it's time for me to head out Nathaniel says. He gets up from his seat and gives Lena a kiss on the cheek
Stef take care of my little girl for me
Ok, I'll probably come back up here over the weekend. Nathaniel said
Daddy tell the kids we love them and give, Braylon and Nyla hugs and kisses for us. Lena states, l will
I don't know what happened to your mom, she was supposed to be back yesterday. It's not like her not to call me, every time she away at these conferences, your mom usually texts me. Lately she's been pretty distant
Lena rolls her eyes, Stef caught
The expression on Lena's face
But choose not to comment it
Daddy l'm sure mother has her reasons for not reaching out
Lena tries to responds. Honey I don't mean to drop this all on you,
I guess l needed to vent to somebody since you have a degree in child psychology. Nathaniel said, as soon my dad left, well that was weird
I said to Stef. Babe I think we should let them work it out among themselves, Stef says. I'm not getting involved in their personal business
Lena Stated, l can't believe it's going on 6:30. Lena States, yeah l know
So how do you feel about the new doctors, Stef questions. They seem ok
But you know l don't trust easily
Just because they were nice doesn't mean a anything.
