My hands held the door handle tightly , I didn't knew my hands were sweaty , I pressed it down and opened the door and an exhausted Neel walked in through . He plastered a smile on his face to greet me , while slamming down on the couch . Other days I would give him a glass of water and ask about his day . But right at this moment I just wanted to hand over the draft to him and ask him to read it . Instead of being selfish on what I wanted I shrugged those thoughts and did what I always do . His eyes wandered on me , lingering on me to try to understand what was going inside the devil head of mine . Before he could ask anything , I handed him the water and sat down
" how was your day ? " , I asked him sounding exciting but sometimes I forget he can se right through me . When I fake things and when I'm being completely honest about them .
" you tell me , how was your day ? As always I know you didn't step out , so what did you do ? " , he finished , a smile crept up on my lips , maybe too huge . Like it was spilling out the beans for me . I couldn't hold on to the excitement and started off without wasting another second ,
" iamsohappytodayneelijustcouldntwaittotellyou " , I guess I spoke out too fast for him to make any sense of my words and he choked on the water he was drinking .
" calm down girl , breathe . I'm not going anywhere , now please will you speak slowly so I could really understand you " , I stopped in my tracks and took deep breathe . Calming myself down I started speaking again ,
" firstly sorry , I just couldn't hold the excitement . So .... " , I trailed off , plams sweaty and huffed out , " Neel , I completed the draft of the book " . I was quietly observing his expression , and I started to grow tensed as his face was blank and he was stopped in his tracks . I wasn't quite sure if he understood what I said , so I shook him ,
" say something please " , and he blinked his eyes . And finally looked up at me , and I saw something that I never did , or rather I thought he's incapable of that emotion . He had tears brimmed up in his eyes and he was trying hard to not let them shed . He turned around and wipe off his tears , " I'm sorry , I'm so damm happy for you . So am I getting to read it now or it's still going to be a secret . Like rather you would want me to buy it and read it " .
" oh , shut up . Well you are reading it , and I want a honest review . Only then I'll approach publishing companies " , his mouth hung open in ' o ' shape but he quickly closed it .
" I'll be glad to do it " , he said and after months we talked and laughed . It seemed like old good times came back .
