It's been a week and a half since the petrification ceremony, for the time being, Luz and the others have been laying low for a while.
Since they were all wanted criminals, no one wanted to risk getting arrested for buying human trash from Eda.
So Luz, Venom, Eda, Carnage, King and Lilith had become bounty hunters to put food on the table.
They were in town, with a cart full of creatures and demons to turn in so they can get paid.
Bounty Clerk: Here's your payment.
He says, offering them one coin.
Eda: A single snail!? Are you kidding me!?
Bounty Clerk: Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't done yet.
He says before snapping the coin in half.
Eda: You can't do this to me! Do you know who I am!?
Bounty Clerk: Yeah, you're Eda the Owl Lady. What are you gonna do? We all know you're powerless now.
Eda: Powerless. Powerless? Does this look powerless to you!?
She yelled as carnage comes out, the symbiote turning Eda into a tall, red monster as she grabs the clerk by the throat.
Carnage: Still think we're powerless, little man?
She says with a feminine voice.
Bounty Clerk: N-No ma'am! My apologies! Here!
He says, giving Eda a huge bag of coins. To which Carnage goes back into Eda's body.
Eda: Yeah, that's what I thought!
She says before Lilith groans.
Eda: What's up, Lily?
Lilith: These.
She says, pointing towards a bunch of posters showing a picture of a witch wearing a white cloak and a golden helmet.
The poster reads; "The Golden Guard. Join the Emperor's Coven. Today!"
Luz: The Golden Guard? Did you know him in the coven, Lilith?
Lilith: Unfortunately, I did. He always got special treatment because he was the "genius teen prodigy." But he's really just a brat. If he's in charge . . . vomit.
She says, crumbling the poster into a ball before throwing it in the trash.
Venom: Somebody sure is jealous.
Lilith: Jealous!? You think I'm jealous of some spoiled brat!!?
She yells at the symbiote.
Venom: Hey, you better watch that tone! I'm still livid about you forcing me and Luz to separate, plus handing me over to the emperor, who TORTURED me, by the way!!
Luz: Woah, woah, woah! Okay! Everybody, please, just calm down!
Carnage: Don't spoil the fun, Luz! Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
King: Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
The two chanted before Luz smacks the both of them.
King: Ow! Luz, how could you?!
Carnage: Who do you think you are!?
Luz: I'm trying to keep Venom from eating Lilith alive and you two aren't helping!
Eda: She's right, you're not.
Carnage: Yeah? Well, you can't tell me what to do!
Luz: No, but she can.
She says before Venom gets in Carnage's face.
Venom: Don't you disrespect my host, Carnage.
Carnage: What?! But she hit me!
Venom: Oh don't be such a baby! As your godmother, Luz has every right to tell you what to do!
Luz gasped.
Luz: I'm the godmother?
She asks with a smile.
Venom: Duh! Who else is it gonna be?
She said as Luz sheds tears of joy.
Carnage: Ugh, you guys are gross. All this sissy happy stuff!
Venom: You watch your mouth! Now get back in your host's body!
Carnage: What?! But-!
She says, looking at Eda.
Eda: Don't look at me, she's YOUR mom.
Venom: I'm not gonna say this again, Carnage! You get back in your host's body this instant, young lady!!
Carnage: Okay fine, MOM!! Ugh!!
The symbiote groaned as she gets back in Eda's body.
Luz: Anyway, why don't we take our minds off of things and do a little more bounties?
Lilith: No thank you. I think I'll just return to the Owl House.
Eda: All right, Lily. We'll see you later.
She says before Lilith takes the cart and leaves.
Luz and Eda then pick out their own individual bounty before parting ways.
The teen then goes to the docks, showing the ship's captain a bounty poster with King riding her back.
Luz: The Selkidomus hunt. I want in.
Captain Salty: You think you can handle this, squirt?
He asks, to which Venom forms a head from the teen's shoulder.
Venom: We can handle anything.
She says before the captain gives Luz sailor clothes, to which she goes to change before boarding the ship.
Luz couldn't help but admire the view on deck as the ship took off into the boiling sea before she and the crew were called on deck by the captain.
Captain Salty: All right, crew. The Selkidomus has been ravaging the coastline. It was last seen in the Simmering Shoals. You know the drill. Snag the quarry, get the money galore-y. We all do the work, we all get a cut. Till then, keep everything shipshape. This ain't no pleasure cruise.
He says before tossing a broom to Luz.
Captain Sakty: Don't be a burden, sea squirt.
Luz: Oh, you don't have to worry about us.
She says before she began sweeping up the deck before being tasked to getting rid of the chomping barnacles that have gotten onto the ship.
Venom creates black tendrils to lower Luz down, the two hissing at the barnacles to shut them up before forming a black scrapers for hands to get the barnacles off.
They were then tasked to shovel coal into the firebox, only for Luz to use her fire glyphs, giving the ship an extra boost, making it sail faster than it did before.
All of Luz's hard work had gained the respect of the captain and the crew and after some time, the captain was looking through his telescope.
Captain Salty: We're here. The Simmering Shoals. Eyes peeled, mates.
He said as they sailed near a half sunken burning ship.
Captain Salty: She's close.
He says before a large tail fin emerges from the water and hits the ship, making everyone fall to the floor.
Luz: She's here!
She called out as the creature circled the ship with the crew members throwing spears at it.
The Selkidomus then jumps out of the water, ejecting spikes towards the ship which knocked one crew member's head off, though he simply puts it back on.
Luz takes out her ice glyphs, launching them towards the creature.
The third glyph had created a wall of ice, which the Selkidomus bumps it's head to, roaring at the crew.
Luz then goes into her superhero form, the black suit coming out as she launches black tendrils towards the creature.
The Selkidomus was restrained as Luz struggled to pull, so Venom took control as they got into their monster form.
But even Venom's full strength wasn't enough as the crew quickly came in to help as they pulled in the Selkidomus together.
Luz used plant glyphs to create vines, tying them to the ship and securing the creature.
Luz: We did it!
She cried out before the firebox suddenly exploded.
This distraction gave the Selkidomus the opportunity to break free from the vines and escape into the water.
Luz then looked towards the smoke to see a figure grabbing the coin bag and jumping off the ship.
Captain Salty: What was that? A ghost pirate?
Luz: It took the money! We're being robbed!
Venom: Get back here with our pay!
They yelled before running to the edge of the boat to see the thief getting away in some kind of motorboat.
Venom then jumps off, sprouting black wings from her back as she goes after the thief, though said thief has a huge head start.
They eventually followed the thief to a nearby island.
Venom: You're mine!
The symbiote yells before tackling the thief to the ground only for her and Luz to gasp.
Luz: Eda?!
Venom: Carnage?!
Carnage: Ah, crud.
Eda: Hey guys.
Luz: Eda, what the heck are you doing robbing our ship for?!
Venom: You got a lot of explaining to do, young lady!
Carnage: Look, there weren't any good bounties, so what else were we gonna do?!
Eda: But why were you on that ship to begin with?!
Luz: I thought I'd do the Selkidomus bounty! I can't believe you've done this!
Eda: Well I can't believe you'd do a bounty this dangerous! Even with Venom, you could've gotten killed!
Luz: Oh, and you wouldn't?!
Eda: I'm way more experienced in this stuff than you, so yeah!
Luz: Well I'm more experienced in having a symbiote than you!
Venom: You are so grounded!
Carnage: What does that even mean!?
Venom: I don't know! I'm still new at this parenting thing!!
They all argued for a bit before a giant abomination hand appeared from the water, landing on the sand as the Golden Guard had arrived.
Golden Guard: Sup.
He said as he stares at them with Eda and Luz glancing at each other before looking towards the new head of the Emperor's Coven.
Golden Guard: Hello, criminals. What's about to happen should be relatively painless, if you just do what I say.
Luz: And why would we do that?
Golden Guard: Because none of you can use real magic.
Eda: You don't know that.
Golden Guard: Maybe not, but I do know that you're standing on a plant that eats flesh.
He said as the two realized what he said was true, their feet sizzling and burning as they screamed, jumping off the plant and cooling them in the cold sand.
The Golden Guard couldn't help but laugh at them.
Golden Guard: Okay. The human and the klyntar will remain a sailor to repay all the money she lost, while the Owl Lady will be arrested, again, for attacking one of the emperor's ships.
Luz: The emperor's ship?
Eda: They're the only ones worth robbing. Why are you guys hunting the Selkidomus? It's a peaceful creature and you're provoking it.
Golden Guard: The Emperor ordered me to slay one. I'm just following orders. Anyway, there is an alternative. No one has to be a sailor or get arrested so long as one of you follows those Selkidomus tracks and slays the beast. Here, I'll help.
He says before conjuring up a sword for them.
Golden Guard: If you don't, I'll drown this little creature.
He says, holding up a bird cage covered with a sheet, pulling it off to reveal King imprisoned in it.
Golden Guard: It's your choice.
He says before Luz and Eda glance at each other, the Owl Lady giving her a nod.
Golden Guard: What say you, human? The klyntar too, I guess.
He asks, not noticing that Carnage had dug a few red tendrils under the sand as they slowly made their way towards the Golden Guard's feet.
Eda: Tell me, Golden Guard, you know anything about Carnage?
Golden Guard: Carnage? It's a horrible, ugly thing, really. I mean, how can anybody exist in a world without order?
He says before Carnage trips the golden guard, making him drop the cage King was in.
Carnage then reveals herself, surprising the golden guard as the symbiote restrains him.
Carnage: So you think I'm ugly, do ya?
Golden Guard: Uh . . . could I perhaps retract my statement?
Carnage: Nah.
The symbiote says before Luz uses a plant glyph to the the golden guard to his staff with vines before Eda slaps the staff, making it take off into the sky and the Golden Guard with it.
Venom then easily rips the cage open as King jumps into Luz's arms.
Luz: You okay, King?
King: Yup!
He says before they saw the Selkidomus emerging from her cave along with her baby.
Luz: Oh my gosh, it's so cute!
King: What are those things?!
Eda: Relax, King. I guess they can tell we're not a threat.
She said as mother and child approached our trio, Luz not being able to contain herself as she pets and snuggles with the Selkidomus calf.
Eda: This area's too dangerous. You need to move further out to sea.
She said, to which the mother Selkidomus nods in response before vomiting up some . . . golden vomit.
Eda: Hot dang! It gave us the treasure of the sea!
Luz: You mean all this puke?
Venom: Gross.
Carnage: Did you hit your head?
Eda: No! It's selkigris! People pay big money for it at the night market. Here!
She says before rubbing it all over Luz and Venom's faces.
Luz: Ah! Eda, stop! What the heck!? Wait . . . woah, my skin's so smooth.
Venom: Seriously? You guys are weird.
Carnage: Agreed.
They said before they saying their goodbyes to the Selkidomus mom and baby before flying off with the selkigris as they returned to the Owl House.
Eda: We're home!
She says before screaming as she trips over Hooty, though Carnage lets out a red tendril to keep the owl lady from hitting the floor.
Eda: Thanks, partner.
Carnage: No biggie.
Lilith: Edalyn, come here. I have a gift for you.
She says, showing them a pot of scrying potion.
Lilith: To prove I am trustworthy, I'm giving you a peek inside the Emperor's castle.
She says as it shows them an image of the Emperor's castle, the guards being pretty laid back.
Luz: What are we supposed to do with this?
Venom: Yeah, I'd rather watch tv and we don't even have one!
Lilith: Whatever you want. Don't you see? These troops don't know what to do with themselves. So go crazy. Pull whatever pranks your heart desires. They're clueless without me.
Eda: Oh, Lily, you couldn't have been more right. And that Golden Guard? What a chump. I'm in a good mood, who wants to get takeout and draw faces on hooty?
Luz & King: We do!
Carnage: Can I draw faces on Hooty with his own blood?
They said before running into the kitchen with Eda while Lilith stayed in the living room with Hooty.
