"4nemo", currently one of the most popular boy groups in the entire Teyvat right now. With their songs constantly hitting top leaderboard, it's not weird they quickly rised to fame despite being a newly debuted group.
Of course being a new hit, lots of publishing companies are dying to get an interview with the group. Before their schedules got too full, Wanmin publishing company managed to snag an interview date thanks to pure luck. To top it all off, this special job was given to the company's newest member.
'fuck'
It was certainly a foreign scene for them, they couldn't help but curse. Staffs running back and forth preparing for mics and lightings, other shit that they don't understand.
It wasn't until the start of the interview that (y/n) started to feel nervous. They were distracted by the many amount of people back stage, but now being on the set made them even more nervous. Not to mention the 4 very cute looking idols staring at them, and the tens of staffs running behind the scene.
'What if I mess up? What if i completely fail this interview and ruin the company's name?' after all, (y/n) initially didn't want this job in the first place. They signed up for writing, not Interviewing. But they're already here, and there's not way to back out now.
"What made you want to start your careers as idols?" Reading off the cue cards the company has prepared before hand, (y/n) was glad they didn't butcher the sentence straight from the start.
Farthest right, closest to (y/n) was a blond young man, his hair tied neatly into an adorable braid. "I was actually dragged here by Venti," the person mentioned, venti, was said to be a highschool friend of Aether. "I initially wanted to enter criminology, but I'm glad I didn't."
"Ehe~ I wanted to do solo but what's the fun in that?" Venti continued right after Aether. "I've been doing music since I was still an un-existing spirit, so that's why I wanted to become an idol."
Ignoring his weird choices of words, (y/n) could only let out an awkward laugh of a response. This entire interview session was, as expected, very much awkward.
It wasn't until after the interview that (y/n) could let in a breath. Not a job for them, never will be. They drank the water that was handed to them rapidly, almost letting it just waterfall down their throat, definitely not safe by the way.
Back in the backstage area, it was once again a hustling market full of hard working staffs, cleaning up after the set.
(Y/n) couldn't really do much to help, even if they wanted to. They don't know much about the equipments and where they go. Instead, they just stood by the side quietly after being told by the director to wait for a while.
It didn't take long for the director to dismiss them though. They weren't much use after the interview was done.
After a few more days of editing, the episode was finally out. Having no balls to watch, (y/n) settled on listening to other peoples reviews and opinions instead. It wasn't that they had social anxiety of the sort, but it was just painfully awkward for them to watch.
As a thank you for the editing teams hard work, the boss treated the them to coffee. That, but he only covered for the payment. As for the one to carry it all back however...
"That'll be 166 (yuan)."
Ignoring the concerned look on the cashiers face (rightfully so), they waited silently on the edge of the counter. Silently, thinking about how in the hell would they be able to carry 15 coffees back to the office by themself.
That was when they saw a familiar green-ish hair colored man walk into the shop.
'isn't that xiao?'
The green hair, that emo style of clothing. It was definitely xiao.
Reflectively, (y/n) shrunk themselves into what they hoped was the size of an atom. Out of sight, out of mind.
'there's no way he recognizes me. Right. Out of a hundred other people he meets daily. Why would he rec- why is he walking closer-'
"Excuse me," though (y/n) were bent down to make themself look smaller, he didn't tower over (y/n) and didn't look as menacing as they'd thought.
Unexpectedly, he pointed at the seat beside them. It was in a secluded corner of the shop. "Is that seat taken?"
"Oh uh, no?"
"Thanks."
After placing his bag on the table, he went to the cashier to order. Which,,, wasn't far from (y/n).
After that very short and not meaningful conversation if you can even call it that, (y/n) expected to have another long and quiet wait. That's not true at all.
"Are you buying coffee for the company?"
"The boss is treating us- huh?"
When they looked up, xiao's golden eyes(balls lmao) were staring at them. "You remember me?"
Xiao blinked as if confused as to why he wouldn't remember. "(Y/n) right? You butchered my name on the interview, why wouldn't I remember."
The audacity of this bit-
"You-"
"Sorry for the long wait," the overworked cashier came back from the kitchen, "we just received a pretty big order so.."
"It's fine." Xiao pulled out his phone and read the orders, one of of which included an extra large mocha coffee with extra chocolate syrup and whipped cream.
(Y/n), on the sidelines, felt like they gained an extra dose of high blood sugar just from hearing it.
"Is it venti's?" They couldn't help but ask.
"It's mine."
"Oh- oh?"
Well that was awkward.
Little did (y/n) know, Xiao was even more panicked than them. He nearly got his orders wrong after (nervously) talking with this person beside him.
He's not like this, usually. It was just the crippling self awareness he had after the interview a dew days ago.
When (y/n) forgot his name a few times during that interview, a look of panic would flash across their eyes. Xiao wasn't one to laugh at other peoples misery, however the look on them was quiet adorable.
Adorable, why did he think that? Now it's his turn to panic.
In the dressing room, venti started talking bullshit again, as he usually does. One of which being the question, "wasn't (y/n) really cute? What do you think xiao?"
"...hm."
Venti being the little shit he is, couldn't stop himself from teasing, which leads to Xiao overthinking about the situation.
"Earth to Xiao, our orders are done." (Y/n) calling brought him back to earth.
Drink their coffee, y/n was in the middle of a struggle of picking up the other 14 and decided to call a coworker for help.
"I can help you carry that back." It was a spontaneous offer.
"You sure? The building isn't far. I can just call someone-"
Xiao was already carrying the other half.

Internally screaming. Xiao was internally screaming the entire way. Both of them are, but xiao was louder.
(Y/n) had to call a coworker down to help carry the drinks up, while they wait in the lobby.
"Thanks for helping me carry these back." (Y/n) was sweating to find something to say. "I'll treat you to coffee sometimes. Can i get your number?"
Xiao tilted his hat down, hiding his red cheeks. "...sure."

Extra: when coworker came down and saw who (y/n) was with, she couldn't help but express genuine shock. "Isn't that the idol from 4nemo? Xiao? Why are you with him? Why is he in our building???"

Btw I've been (extremely) busy with cosplay. I just did yae the other week and will be going as wei wuxian on September 24 for comifuro (while selling merch) and if there's any events before september, I'll be going as sara.
Btw, i got ayato in like 40 pulls and his sword in 1 pull lmao. Chile i was lucky. Ayato is so strong tho legit like i was going for c1 venti but nvm ig.
This is a mess bc i didn't sleep at all last night i have like 6 assignments due today and tomorrow and had to stay up all night. I just downed almost 3 cups of coffee for school I'm so tired send help.
Last month we had like 30 assignments (counted) that we had to finish all at the same time in like less then a month for half and a month max for the other half. Don't let anyone tell you private schools are easy.
