After resting in the medics at the village for the whole night, I and Rengoku started to travel back to the headquarters. As of now, we were given the chance to have a day off for about one week for our recoveries
The conversation that we had last night was still stuck in my head, All of the things he said to me are now clearly memorize as they kept repeating.
I'm glad someone is there that could finally help me, But I'm still in wonders and eager to know the real reason why in all behind of all this. I don't deserve how he treated me that way, But maybe it's in his persona? He's a really nice guy if I could describe him...
While I was lost in thoughts, Rengoku was sitting beside me eating loudly. As usual every bite he takes he would always mutter or yell 'delicious'
I don't know the reason why he would say the word every time he ate but I couldn't care less and just ignore it. Since I'm kind of getting used to all of it.
The train was fastly moving as the scenery outside through the glass looked quite peaceful, The grassy fields were full of flowers as the gardeners and farmers wave at the passing train that we are in, Some others in the background waved back as I heard giggles from the child behind our sit, While the others are minding their own business as they talk to each other
I then no longer hear Rengoku muttering as I see him finish his breakfast, I was not that hungry so I just ate half of the bento and save up the food for later, I can't just waste food, or I would get scolded by a chicken head that was beside me
He appreciates food a lot and it seems to be the same towards the person who cooks the food. I mean, He did mention that─'warriors were taught to savor every bite of food, for it may be their last.'
I guess he was right, Mitsuri would do the same as she was also in love with food. Especially pancakes and omurice, But I would especially see her eat sakura mochi every time I tried visiting her estate, I would say maybe that is the reason why she has this pink-green hair color.
Rengoku puts the lid of the bento close then puts it on the table as we wait for the service to come and pick it up
"Why haven't you finished your meal Y/n?" He looks down to my lap where my half-eaten bento was laying, My hands were securely wrapped onto it so it won't fall off as the train was moving
"I wasn't really that hungry, I have a small appetite... But don't worry I won't throw the food away! I'll just be saving it for dinner later" I said to him
"I see.." He whispered before looking away then gliding his eyes to the window where the sun is peeking slightly onto the mountains
A yawn escapes my mouth as my head started to tilt back and forth, Rengoku noticed it as he gently place my head to his shoulders which made me startle at his sudden contact
I peek a bit to look into his eyes but he then smiles as he says "You should take a rest, for now, We still have a long way to go until we arrive at the station." Rubbing my head to his hands made my hair mess up a bit but just ignored it as my eyes started to close, And because of my weariness I was quickly fell off to sleep
I sense someone shaking my shoulders lightly as my eyes cracked open to see Rengoku waking me up from my sleep
"The station is near, We should get our things ready since there's a full of the crowd that would get their things and we may get drowned into them when we get ours!" He says as he tugs me back to my seat waiting for me to come with him, I rubbed my eyes then reach my hand at him as to how a gentleman he is. He grabbed my hand to lift me to my sit
I walked slowly to the upper storage that was above us then get my small backpack, It's not heavy. I didn't bring much since it was only one day to complete the mission
I move back a bit to let Rengoku get his, I, on the other hand, move back to my sit from before as my elbows rested onto the window of the train same as my chin that was laying onto my hand
I took notice that the bento's that Rengoku has eaten were now gone.
I heard the sit beside me creeks as I felt Rengoku sat on it with his belongings was sitting on the ground that was in between his legs
"How many minutes exactly until we get there?" I asked beside him as my hand slipped to the window putting it onto my lap
"I'm not sure but I'm guessing in about 5 to 7 minutes?" He rub his chin slightly with his finger then crossed his arm and waited as he look at me, I nodded before leaning down to my sit tightly embracing my backpack as a satisfied sigh lefts my mouth
The station comes into our sight as the train stopped with a loud screech, The other passengers started to got up from their sits as they roamed around to get their things
I look at Rengoku as I see him stand up from his sit making me did the same thing, When we got out we were greeted by the services that mostly helped around in the train. Rengoku waved while I gave them a small smile in response
"What are you gonna do after we reach the headquarters?" The flame hashira asked me, "To be honest, I don't know." I shrugged
"Well, As soon as we arrive and you still haven't thought of anything to do after. I would gladly invite you to the Lake near to my estate!" He cheerfully said before making his pace a bit fast to walk beside me
I think about it for a moment but then nodded anyways
I saw him smile widely as his eyes travels in front of the road.
We were almost to the gate then saw the kakushi's passing by as they saw us from their behind as they immediately open the gate for us to go in
"It's good to see you safely travel back from the mission Rengoku-sama, L/n-sama!" One of them greeted, The other take a hold of our stuff as they started to run where mine and rengoku's estate is.
"Thank you for helping us! Have a good day!" Rengoku yelled as we distance ourselves further from where Oyakata-sama's estate is. I then saw my crow on a fence along with Rengoku's
C/n didn't even bother to look at us as his companion greeted Rengoku as same to me. The two children of the master walk up to us then lead us to the estate
We saw Oyakata-sama was already kneeling onto the wooden floor of his home, His hands were gently brushing his wife's hand but then retreats it back when he felt another preference near which was us
"Rengoku-sama and L/n-sama have finally come back from their mission." The white-haired child said to him as both siblings stand beside their father
I and Rengoku kneel in front of him, "Please raise your head, First of all. I wanted to congratulate both of you on successfully doing your mission well. And, I am very sorry Y/n for not informing you early when I assigned Kyojuro to follow through your mission for back-up..."
I held my head up as I then said "There's no need to apologize Oyakata-sama! I do quite understand why you needed for him to travel on where my mission was taken..." He smiled as he hangs his head a bit low
"Is there any trace leading to Muzan?" He then asked
Rengoku lifts his head high then says "I'm sorry to disappoint you Oyakata-sama. But we didn't get to have enough information about the trace.."
"That's fine, The other was also having a hard time finding Muzan for the past few days, Not until Tanjiro have encountered the demon king himself" He then reach out his hand as his wife grabbed onto him securely as the Master stands up
"The both of you can have a week to recover your injuries, I may have to leave early since u was getting a bit tired lately... Have a good rest for the both of you and thank you for the time" He finished then his wife leads him inside the estate as for the other two children were trailing behind them
Rengoku was the first one to get up as his hand was now in front of me, I put my left hand to his as he helps me stand up before thanking him
"I'll get going now Y/n! And don't forget to visit the lake later at night!" I nodded giving him a smile before waving at him, When I saw him wave back I was quick to proceed on walking to my estate
When I and Rengoku informed Oyakata-sama about our mission, It was still around sunset. But now that the stars are shining brightly in the sky it was now nighttime, The time when I and Rengoku are gonna meet up at the lake that he was talking about earlier
I walk out of the doors of my estate wearing my kimono, nothing too formal. But this is what I usually wore when I went for a night stroll.
In a few minutes of walking, I was in front of Rengoku's Estate but then walks around to where the gardens are, Not really in the garden but I would need to walk past it then leads to the forest.
When I was in the middle of the forest, I look where the right direction was. Its been a while since I come here
I saw the lake same to Rengoku who was patiently waiting to the sides
I walk up to him then tapped his shoulders, His bright golden eyes stared at my e/c one's
"Y/n! I thought you wouldn't come and just ditch me, haha! I guess I'm just overthinking.." He scratched his nape then sat to the edge of the lake as his feet dugs into the waters
I slowly leaned down as well then sit beside him, I put one of my feet was now in the waters as well, The feeling of the cold waters made me tense a bit but got used to it
"I didn't get to ask you this question earlier but, Why do you want to meet up here anyway?" I asked him curiously tilting my head a little to the side as I look at him
He moves his head to me then smiles "I wanted someone to accompany me in a while since I would usually come here alone... But, I also wanted to stargaze with someone right now so I invited you to come here!" He explained
"I see your point..." I mumbled nuzzling my head close to my other knees
The silence then erupted between the both of us, as we look up to the sky seeing the stars twinkles. The moon was peeking into the clouds slight of the light was reflecting the surface of the lake
I look down before running my hands to the water, as it gently waves around at my hand's movements
I heard a gasp beside my making me jolt at the sudden sound, I look at Rengoku seeing his eyes wide staring at the night sky. I got confused but then look up again
My body froze to see a meteor shower suddenly appear, My eyes glimmered at the sight before standing up as my eyes were not leaving at the sight
I sense someone was staring at me then look down to see Rengoku's gaze was at me. Without knowing what I had just done, I smiled widely at him
