Chapter Ten
“Don’t push your luck Black.” Arianna said and left Sirius outside, she immediately went inside the greenhouse and found a vacant seat next to a fellow Gryffindor, she didn’t want to sit next to Sirius ‘Now what happened to being nice because he covered for you?’ her conscience asked ‘Yeah but it was getting annoying’ Arianna’s mind argued.
She sat immediately to the vacant seat and agreed with her mind instead of her conscience “Hey I’m getting annoyed, and I’m not a saint you know.” She told herself so she wouldn’t feel guilty. Her fellow Gryffindor seatmate was a boy, he had light brown hair, and brown eyes, he was reading ‘A studious one’ Arianna thought.
“Um, hi may I seat here?” Arianna asked
The boy looked up
“Oh sure.” He said, when Arianna saw him that’s when she realized “Oh Merlin, he’s with Potter and Black, I’ll just take another seat, but then I might get seated next to Black again, he seems nice and kinda mature and he’s a prefect, oh fine.” Arianna thought to herself, she sighed and took a seat “At least Black can’t get near me.” She thought
“I’m Remus Lupin by the way.” He said offering his hand, Arianna noticed that he had some scars, but she didn’t mind and took his hand “I’m-“but before she could finish
“Hello Moony, I see you’ve met my friend Riddle here.” Said Sirius smirking behind them
Arianna rolled her eyes, while Remus just smirked with his friend, Arianna let go of his hand.
“Hey why can’t we have a proper introduction? I’ve tried a million of times but you keep on walking out on me.” Sirius said pretending to be hurt
“Because I refuse to be decent to someone who can’t talk to other people with respect and dignity.” Arianna spat and turned her back on him. “Yep I was right you have an Evans in your hands.” Remus mouthed to Sirius, at which Sirius nodded at, their professor came in by then and Sirius had to take his seat, far at the back which Arianna loved.
“I can see you don’t like my mate Sirius.” Remus said as they were taking down notes
“As you can refer to earlier’s scene yes.” Arianna replied coolly
Remus just smirked at her reply
“Sorry,” Arianna said apologetically “I shouldn’t get mad at you too.” She meant it; she didn’t have to be mad at Remus just because he was Sirius’ friend
“It’s fine,” Remus started “You shouldn’t get mad at him though, give him a chance, get to know him you’ll see that… He doesn’t appear to be as you think it seems.”
Arianna stared at Remus as if to say “Seriously?”
“Are you just saying that because he’s your friend, or he told you to?” Arianna inquired, and Remus chuckled
“No, I just know you two will get along.” He replied knowingly
‘What the hell?’ Arianna thought ‘Get along? We can’t even agree.’
“I think that’s where you’re wrong, we don’t get along we’re too different.”
Remus just nodded and smiled knowingly “You’ll see.” He said and they continued taking down notes until the end of the class.
After class Arianna fix her things and got her bag, as she got out of the classroom, she headed to her next class relieved that Sirius wasn’t following her, when she got to D.A.D.A she quickly saw a vacant table in the middle she immediately took the seat, and got out her parchment and quill. She didn’t have a seatmate yet.
As she was getting her quill and parchment, a boy sat beside her when she looked up she saw none other than Sirius Black sitting next to her. She glared at him,
“What are you doing here?” Arianna spat as she put her things down
Sirius looked at her
“Oh Riddle didn’t notice you there,” Arianna rolled her eyes at his reply “Well, I have D.A.D.A too and I saw that this seat wasn’t taken so I took it is there something wrong?”
Arianna didn’t mind his last question
“Where’s your class schedule?” She asked
“Here with me, why?” Sirius said taking it out
“Let me see that.” And she grabbed it from his hand and compared it with hers, she wanted to curse with every single word that she knew, she had all her classes with him. Sirius saw her reaction and grabbed the schedules but Arianna didn’t want him to see they had every class together, ‘He’ll follow me even more’ she thought to herself.
“Hey that’s-“but she was too late Sirius already saw it and grinned very broadly
“So we have every single class together Riddle.” Sirius said smirking
Arianna just completely turned her back on him; she didn’t want to say no more, and just in the niche of time their Professor, Professor Merrythought came. They discussed of non verbal spells, ‘Great I don’t need to talk’ Arianna thought. After the discussion they were told to practice them with their partner who would be their seatmate. The other one casts it while the other one blocks it. They were told to each go to their own places with their partner.
Arianna completely turned her back on Sirius and just went to a corner, Sirius just followed her. No one would even think they were partners.
“Alright Riddle you cast, I block I wouldn’t wanna hex you, it might be too awesome-“but before Sirius could finish his conceited statement, Arianna was already getting annoyed, she casted the disarming charm non-verbally and Sirius was disarmed.
Sirius looked at her stunned ‘She was a girl!’ he thought to himself
“You were saying Black?” Arianna called
“Hmm, you seem talented,” Sirius started as he summoned his wand back “maybe we do have something in common.”
Arianna then casted the Stunning Spell, which Sirius deflected
“We have nothing in common Black.” Arianna said darkly
And they continued, Sirius was impressed that she was talented, non-verbal magic was very hard to perform but for him it wasn’t considering he was a Marauder, hexing was a hobby for them, so nonverbal magic was easy. Their other classmates were having quite a hard time as he observed, their pair was the best. Their Professor even praised them. After class both were very tired.
“Mr. Black and Ms. Riddle very good!” Complimented their Professor as they all sat down again, the two didn’t have the energy to reply they were both panting, Sirius just managed to give a thumbs up and Arianna a smile “Mr. Black I can see that hexing fellow students gave you enough practice,” Merrythought started “and Ms. Riddle I can see you are very talented like your brother.”
Sirius grinned very broadly, even though he was so tired “Big head” Arianna muttered
“Well, class dismissed.” At that Arianna got her things as she got out of the classroom,
“So where are we off to next?” Asked Sirius, Arianna just stared at him as if to say “Are you serious?”
“What do you mean by we?” said Arianna
“We because we have every single class together,” Sirius said emphasizing the we “and I can see you don’t have classes with any of your friends, and so do I well except for Herbology and Potions but you see the point.”
Arianna rolled her eyes and started walking without him
“Hey,” Sirius said catching up with her which he did very easily “Where you heading?”
“It’s free period, I suppose you have better things to do.”
“Hmm, what are you-“ but before Sirius could finish
“Arianna!” Alice called as she came from the greenhouses
“Alice!” Arianna greeted
“You have free period too?” Alice asked as she approached her friend
“Yeah,”
“Great!” Alice said, she took a look at who was beside Arianna “Er, let’s go?”
“Yeah c’mon” Arianna said happily not even bothering to look back at Sirius.
“Not your day huh Padfoot?” Sirius didn’t need to take a look at who was beside him, he knew who it was.
“Every day is my day Prongs.” Sirius replied
James just grinned
“Hey you’ll never get your day with that girl, she’s as feisty as Evans.”
“So you’re admitting you’ll never get your day with Evans?”
“Hmm, no I know I’ll get my day,” James smirked “C’mon let’s just go and hex someone I’m bored.”
“Hmm, inviting,” said Sirius “Let’s go.”
After free period which Arianna didn’t want to end just yet, she had to get back to classes, which she sadly did
“Hey don’t worry about it Arianna, we have Charms together all four of us last period ‘kay?” Alice said comforting Arianna
“Yeah, thanks Alice,” Said Arianna thankfully “bye.”
Alice waved her goodbye and Arianna headed to her next class, Transfiguration she got inside the classroom and got seated as usual Black sat next to her.
“Hello Riddle,” he started “had a nice free period?”
“It was great,” she said “until you came and sat next to me.” She mumbled incoherently
“Hey that hurts,” Sirius said and grabbed his chest “do you hate me that much?”
‘How did he hear that?’ Arianna asked herself
And as usual Arianna didn’t mind him the whole period, when the class had ended she headed t her next class History of Magic, which she now loved because Sirius didn’t talk the whole period because he was asleep. And then her last period came Charms.
When she got into the classroom she was really happy to see her friends there
“Lily,” she said and ran to take her seat with them thankful that all four of them could sit together
“Oh fine go sit with your friends,” said Sirius “I’m letting you go.”
“And who gave you the right to choose her seat Black?” Lily spat
“Well, considering she’s been my seatmate all day-“he started smirking
“Oh shut up.” Arianna said and Sirius smirked even wider
“If that’s what you want then I’ll just go.” He said and headed to where the Marauders were sitting
“What did-“ Alice started but Arianna put a hand up
“Don’t ask.” She said, and at that class had started
