Juliette enters the Denali household, freezing the floor a bit in her path. She stops by seeing how someone puts a pair of shoes in front of her. She looks up and finds Kate who gives her half a smile. The newborn returns the smile and puts on the red heels to walk more calmly through the house until arriving at the living room where Carmen and Eleazar are. He finds himself talking with someone on the phone.
-I'd be in debt with you if you come for a few days to revise. - Juliette approaches Carmen who extends her hand towards her.
She sits beside her and lets the vampire hug her by the shoulders, showing support. Juliette gives the woman half a smile and after thinking for a few seconds, rests her head on Carmen's shoulder without getting tired.
-Thank you, Carlisle. Sure, I'll see you later. - Eleazar hangs up the phone and leaves it on a wooden table that's beside the three seat sofa.
-What did he say? - Tanya asks, seated beside Kate while both sister look at Eleazar
-He said he'll come for a few weeks because of some problems that Edward had. He didn't want to tell me much and I didn't want to ask. - Juliette lifts up her head from Carmen's shoulder to look at the man.
-Who's Edward? - The newborn asks intrigued
-He's one of my friend Carlisle's kids. You'll meet him in a few days. - Eleazar explains giving Juliette half a smile
-I don't want to sound disrespectful but, could you tell how I ended up in here exactly? - Juliette asks with an ashamed smile
-Sweetie, we need you to take it easy because it's not what you normally hear around humans. - Carmen says taking Juliette's hands
-Why does it sound like you're not humans? - The golden eyed vampires look at each other for a few seconds before looking at Juliette who looks at them confused.
-We're not exactly. - Kate admits crossing her legs
-Juliette, we were walking through the forest when we saw you with a group of men. - Eleazar starts explaining sitting beside her, leaving the girl between him and his partner
-I remember that, they wanted to attack me first but I deffended myself. Something that didn't turn out very well because they hurt me in the abdomen and it made them do.... what they did to me. - She says with difficulty while looking down
-They didn't do what you think because we managed to save you on time. - Carmen says with pain in her chest after seeing the girl that way
-We prevented those idiots from touching you, we couldn't prevent them from hitting you because we didn't arrive before but we prevented them from raping you. - Juliette feels how there's one weight less by hearing Tanya's words.
-We got rid of them while Eleazar tried to save you in here. - Carmen explains
-I couldn't do much because you lost a lot of blood and the punches you received managed to harm some organs. You weren't breathing well and as much as I tried to reanimate you, I couldn't do much. - The new born takes Eleazar's hand, squeezing it lightly.
-You tried to save me and I'll thank you eternally for that. - Juliette tells him sincerely who takes her hand with half a smile
-Anyways, I thought you shouldn't die that way. You have a life to live so, with Carmen, we decided to give you another chance. - Juliette frowns confused by Eleazar's words.
-That doesn't make sense. If I had no vital signs, it means you couldn't do anything for me. - Juliette says trying to find the meaning of his words
-I know, but you're no longer a human, Juliette. You're an immortal. - Carmen says caughting the newborn's attention
-An immortal? - She asks confused
-You're a vampire, Juliette. - Tanya explains
-I know what we're saying doesn't make sense but it's the truth. You're a vampire, Juliette. You can't die as easily like when you were human, you're stronger than before, you can't eat human food anymore so your diet will be based on human or animal blood. You have a nonhuman speed along with a gift that represents you. - Juliette tries to process Eleazar's words.
-A gift? - Juliette manages to ask looking at him
-Each one of us has a gift that represents us. - Kate says with half a smile before looking at her sister
Before Tanya could react, Kate takes her hand, using her gift on her and throwing her to the ground.
-Incredible. - The newborn whispers fascinated
-We suppose that your gift is manipulating ice. - Carmen tells Juliette
Juliette looks at the table for a moment, realizing it has glass. She takes away her hand from Eleazar and Carmen to take of her gloves. Scared, she approaches her hand to the glass and when she touches it with her fingers, immediately, they tarnish with the ice. She suddenly takes away her hands scared while looking at the glass.
-You'll be able to control it in some time but for now, you'll use gloves to not cause any accidents. - Juliette nods and immediately puts on the gloves.
-We don't know anything about you past or where you come from but we wanted to know if you wanted to stay here or return home with your parents. - Carmen says sweetly
Juliette stays in silence for a few seconds before answering.
-I only have my father, my mother died when I was just a child. Leaving me only with my father. - She explains remembering the moment when her mother died
-I'm so sorry. - Eleazar whispers taking her hand
-It's ok, it happened a long time ago. But that let my father have control over me. He always told me what to do, how to dress, who I need to relate with, even who I have to marry. - Juliette explains with a lost look
-You were gonna marry this guy on the day we found you? - Tanya asks after recovering from her sister's gift, sliding Juliette's wedding invitation through the frozen table.
She looks at it from afar, feeling uncomfortable by seeing the guy that would be her husbamd.
-Yes. - She says seriously
No one talks for a mmoment before watching how Juliette makes the invitaion freeze and break into little crystal pieces with her look. The Denalis look at the girl surprised, realising that her eyes changed colour for a moment before returning to blood red.
-We'll have to practice with your gift. - Kate says with a smile
Juliette looks at her and nods. The newborn stands up from the sofa and stays in front of the family.
-I'll thank you eternally for what you did for me. If you hadn't found me, I'd me dead by now. I have to process what you told me but I'm sure about something. - The Denalis stand up from their places, still looking at her - I won't go back with my father, I'll stay with you if you let me.
Carmen immediately approaches the girl to hug her.
-Of course, sweetie. You're part of the family. - Juliette returns the hug until the woman separates to be by her partner's side.
-Welcome to the family. - Eleazar says taking Carmen's waist
-You're now a Denali. - The sisters say in unison making Juliette smile
Juliette Lombard Denali. It sounds great.
GUYS, here's chapter 4. Tomorrow in the morning I'm going to New York so I'll post next chapter when I get to the hotel and finish organizing everything.
Spoiler: It'll be one of the scenes that make me get a laugh attack every time I watch it.
