YiHyun woke up excited for the first time in so many days. His face was blooming so much that even his parents questioned why he looked so happy. YiHyun's answer was that it was because of the spring. He had made it clear in his head that she was exactly that. As he made it to the school & found his classmates waiting for him, he took a look around him before he headed to them." She isn't here yet" he thought. He had no idea where she was hanging around or who her best friends were but still found his eyes checking all the girls around the seyang high-school checking for the only girl that was wearing sweatpants under her skirt. He chuckled and most of his friends looked at him like he was an alien.
" Ya Jung YiHyun what are you laughing about?" Il ho, his best buddy in baseball asked him.
" A girl & sweatpants" he laughed.
" You mean Yoon SaeBom, the crazy girl who threw you from the rooftop" Il ho commented.
YiHyun laughed more.
" Yeah her. Have you ever seen a girl wearing sweatpants under a skirt?" he questioned.
" She must be a tomboy" Il ho said.
" Maybe" YiHyun nodded but it was not like he cared, she looked the prettiest in his eyes.
" We are talking about the devil & she arrives" Il ho told him.
YiHyun turned to look at SaeBom who was rushing to his side with quick steps.
" Ya Jung YiHyun, I see you're alive" she said as she hit him in his arm with a lot of power.
" I'm not sure after this hit" YiHyun said feeling his arm being in a bit of pain. SaeBom laughed.
" You're so soft" she said. " I can't believe you can't take a simple punch" she mocked him.
" Are you sure you are a girl?" YiHyun asked her as he rubbed his arm.
" I'm a special girl" SaeBom said and winked at him. YiHyun felt in a daze again. She really was special. Different from any other girl he had ever seen. " See Ya, later" she said and after waving to everyone she took big steps inside the school. YiHyun drifted his eyes away from her only when she was not visible anymore. His friends couldn't help but notice the way he looked at her.
" Ya, Don't tell me you got a crush on her" Il ho said.
" Why?" YiHyun asked scratching his neck.
" Because half of the boys have been rejected by her multiple times" IL ho announced to him.
YiHyun chuckled. " I also got rejected" he told them still laughing.
" Ya Jung YiHyun have you lost your mind? She threw you from a rooftop" Il ho commented.
" It was a nice fly" YiHyun said still smiling.
" You lost your mind in the air" Il ho teased him.
" That's true" YiHyun casually said.
" We should head inside" one of the guys said.
Il ho helped YiHyun walk inside and as they reached at their classroom, YiHyun found SaeBom seating exactly next to his seat. That he was shocked was an understatement. He probably rubbed his eyes twice to look if it was indeed her. She waved at him with a smile signaling him with her hands to go at her. But both Il ho & YiHyun didn't seem to be moving from their spot. SaeBom suddenly stood up and walked to them.
" I'll help him" she told Il ho & he nodded surprised.
" What are you doing here?" YiHyun finally asked her as she helped him walk to his seat.
" Oh my class has an assignment to do with your class so that's why I'm here" she said as she sat next to him. " You're the only person I know here, hope you don't mind to be my partner?" SaeBom asked him.
YiHyun shook his head. " No it will be fun" he casually said smiling a bit at her.
" It will be right?" SaeBom said & smiled back at him.
Then the teacher entered and told the class to create pairs of 2 people one boy & one girl. Since SaeBom & YiHyun had already created their pair they were just waiting for their assignment. When their assignment was given to them, SaeBom huffed. " Seriously?" she asked annoyed looking at YiHyun. " We seriously need to present a project about Romeo & Juliet? Romeo & Juliet? Aish" she cursed hitting her hand on the desk. YiHyun laughed.
" You don't like it right?" he asked her.
" What to like from this? I wanted another book. Something with mystery, murder.. Why did it have to be the love theme?" she cursed yet again pouting her 2 lips. YiHyun found her looking so cute even though she was annoyed and was throwing daggers at the teacher for giving them that subject. She suddenly stood up and raised her hand.
" Sir, can we have another book? I can't possibly read that " she whined like a baby & YiHyun smiled at her.
" That's the book assigned to you miss SaeBom" was the only answer that came from the teacher.
" I hate romances " SaeBom declared and all the other girls inside the class opened their mouth in shock.
" That book is your assignment and that's it" the teacher commanded.
SaeBom huffed and sat back to her seat defeated. She then turned to look at Yi Hyun with what he could differ was eyes of hope.
" YiHyun-a..." she called his name like this and YiHyun felt a bit his breath shaken but still looked at her waiting to continue her sentence.
" We are friends right?" she casually asked. YiHyun found himself nodding even though he didn't know if it was enough for him but she already considered him a friend so he could only accept it if he wanted to stay close to her.
" Great then do the assignment yourself & give me credit too" she said smiling showing all of her teeth.
YiHyun though shook his head making SaeBom press her 2 lips in one and patted her eyelashes like begging him to reconsider.
" I also don't like romances so why should I do it alone?" YiHyun exclaimed.
" Then are you telling me that we have to do this stupid assignment together?" she asked the obvious. YiHyun nodded smiling. SaeBom hufed and started tapping her fingers on the desk in sign of annoyance.
" Come on, it will be fun '' YiHyun said nugging her shoulder.
" No, no, no it won't be fun, it will be the death of me" she dramatically said as she pretended to cry, rubbing her 2 eyes.
" Let me tell you that those tricks don't work on me. I'm in no mood to do that absolutely boring assignment alone. So you're helping me Yoon Sae Bom, si" YiHyun told her on a strict tone in which she only gulped & after throwing daggers to both him & the teacher, she answered with a very monotonous " Fine". YiHyun nodded satisfied.
The bell for the break rang & all the kids started running outside of the class. YiHyun cursed inside his breath as he looked at his injured foot & remained seated at his place. His doctor had told him that it was better for him to not walk a lot until it healed & truth be said YiHyun had done a lot of damage yesterday, so even though he also wanted to get out he decided against it. Surprisingly though, he wasn't totally alone on this empty class. It took him a while but when he turned on the side, he saw SaeBom looking at him with a wondering expression written on her face. YiHyun though got shocked that she was still there.
" Aren't you going out?" he asked her.
" Why? Do you want to be left alone?" she asked raising her eyebrow.
YiHyun laughed at her expression.
" Yah, Jung YiHyun, you're really troubling me, you know" She exclaimed pressing her fingers on her forehead.
" Why?" YiHyun asked.
" I have the feeling that I have to keep an eye on you so that you don't do anything stupid again" she said yawning a bit as she laid her head on the desk.
" That's why you stayed here & didn't go out, in case I did something stupid?" YiHyun asked on an angry tone being really mad that she thought of him like this. It's true that yesterday on the rooftop, he felt like his life was destroyed but he was not planning to jump to kill himself. He was not that insane, not yet at least..
" Hmm, that's right but mostly because I'm so sleepy so I'm going to take a 5 minutes nap. Wake me up when the teacher gets in" she said and closed her eyes while turning her head on YiHyun's side.
" Won't you hear the bell?" he whispered on her.
" I barely hear anything when I'm sleeping" she whispered back at him.
YiHyun smiled and leaned his head on the desk too. He looked at her. She was already asleep. It was interesting to him on how much fast she fell asleep. He slowly brushed her hair away from her face, desperate to look at her better. She was indeed so pretty & she looked even prettier in his eyes. She seemed to be in discomfort as her eyes got creased. YiHyun understood that she was being blinded by the sunlight & covered with his hands the sun rays from falling on her face. She smiled on her sleep like understanding that he was helping her. YiHyun smiled too. He felt happy that she was there, right next to him & he had the chance to protect her beautiful sleep. He wished she will always stay right by his side. No matter in what way. He only wanted her there, in front of his eyes so that he knows she's safe. Because he felt like she was his life, so only if she was safe, his own life would be able to go on....
