I woke up early too excited to rest today was going to be the best day of my life so far. My name is Cameron Brand and today was the day I'd get my first Pokemon. I knew exactly which one I wanted already I want Scorbunny the fire type starter. I checked the time and saw it was 8:00am, and decided to get ready to get my Pokemon. I quickly got dressed in a red tank top, black jeans, and black sneakers. I looked in a mirror to see my black hair was messy like always it was hanging in my green eyes slightly. It didn't matter it wasn't like it looked bad so I didn't both to fix it at all. I ran down the stairs ignoring the last few steps by jumping over the rail. I saw my mom looking at me in amusement from the kitchen.
"Well someone's excited. You can go get your pokemon after breakfast. Then I'll see you off at Wedgehurst station." My mom said as she placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front of me. I wolfed my food down as mom ate with me at a much slower pace.
"I can't believe it. My baby's going to be going to be leaving." Mom said and I could see her tearing up. I stopped eating for a moment.
"I won't be gone forever mom. I promise I'll visit whenever I can, but we both know what my goal is." I said smiling at her as she nodded and then looked like she just remembered something.
"I almost forgot. Leon came home earlier, and gave me this to give to you." Mom said as she handed me a piece of paper.
"He said it's a gift for getting your first pokemon. Apparently he gave one to Hop too since he gave Hop a Pokemon earlier." Mom said as I unfolded the paper. I nearly dropped the paper in shock after seeing what it was. It was a recommendation for to compete in the Champion Cup. I'll have to remember to thank Leon when I see him before stripping him of his champion status.
"He's recommended me for the Champion Cup." I said smiling as mom gasped before a smile overtook her expression.
"Guess I have more reason to watch the competition this year." She said as I nodded before finishing my food. I gave her a hug before opening the door.
"I'll see you at the station mom, love ya!" I said as I ran as fast as possible to the Pokemon professor. As I ran I saw my friend and rival Shaquita Williams leave her house. She smiled when she saw me which just proves how long we've been friends cause Shaquita hates most men. Hop, Leon, and I are basically the only exceptions.
"I guess we're going to the same place." She said as she was wearing her normal outfit which consisted of a yellow sweater under a black jacket, black leggings, gold triangle earrings, and black sneakers with a PokeBall logo on the sides. She has brown hair that's shorter than mine but just as messy, and amber eyes. She was also shorter than me since she was 5'6 and I'm 5'10.

"Guess so but I'm getting there first." I said as I started running again with Shaquita just behind me. When we were just a few houses away I saw another familiar face come into view. Sally Winslow was another childhood friend, but while I've known Shaquita pretty much since we were both babies I've only known Sally since I was 8. She lived in Circhester city until she was 8 then she moved here with her parents. We bonded pretty quickly, and after she got used to Shaquita hitting on her they became friends as well. Eventually the 3 of us developed a friendly rivalry, and now we were competing for the biggest prize to be the Galar region's new champion.
"Guess we all are on our way to the professor." I said smiling with excitement. Sally looked over at us and smiled softly.
"Hey guys. Man I thought I'd be the only one going over there this early." Sally said smiling. She has long straight red hair, and green eyes. She was wearing a brown shirt under an orange jacket, blue jeans with a brown belt, black and white sneakers, green fingerless gloves, a red hat with a white bill and flower design, and had a red bag with her.

"Nope I'm still going to be the first one there." I said running past her as both her and Shaquita groaned and started chasing after me. I reached the Pokemon research lab and went inside.
"First one here." I said as I looked around seeing rows and rows of books most likely written by the professor. Professor Magnolia was the leading expert of Gigantamax research which made her very important to the people of Galar. After all Gigantamaxing is Something you can't do outside of Galar. You can't even do it in Galar unless you're at a power spot.
"You're too fast, and too energetic for it being this early." I heard Shaquita say from behind me.
"Or you're just slow and lazy." I said jokingly as she flipped me off. I heard a small noise, and looked around looked around before seeing a small Yamper running towards me. It stopped and just stared at me barking lightly.
"Hey! Sorry about him he just likes meeting new people." I heard a woman's voice say. I looked up and saw a woman with long peach colored hair. She was wearing a light green sweater under a brown button jacket, blue jeans, light gree and black boots, and had glasses on her forehead.
"I'd hit that." I heard Shaquita mumble as Sally and I just looked at her.
"Don't give me that look. You can't tell me neither of you aren't thinking the same thing." She said as I looked away cause she was right.
"Exactly besides she's a total MILF." Shaquita said as the woman giggled as she reached us.
"Alright that aside what can I do for you 3? I'm Sonia by the way Professor Magnolia's granddaughter." Sonia said as I was wishing she phrased it differently cause I know Shaquita doesn't have a filter.
"I don't know about for me, but I know what you can do to me." Shaquita said as I sighed and decided to say something.
"Anyway we came here to get pokemon." I said as Shaquita rolled her eyes at me. Sonia suddenly had a look of understanding on her face.
"Oh you 3 must be the one's Leon was talking about." Sonia said as I looked at her a little confused.
"He came by earlier after giving his little brother a Pokemon and left these 3 with me saying that 3 people were going to show up for Pokemon." She explained as she tossed 3 pokeballs in the air. As the Pokemon inside were released I saw that they were the 3 starter Pokemon Grookey, Sobble, and Scorbunny.
"Apparently Hop took a Grookey I guess Leon had caught 2 of them. I'm not completely sure why he was adamant about you 3 choosing from this group of Pokemon but that's what Leon said he wanted." Sonia explained while the 3 starters were exploring their new surrounding. Grookey was climbing around the bookshelves, Scorbunny was running around leaving burning footprints, and Sobble was in a corner looking like he was trying to hide from everyone.
"Well I'm sure Leon has his reasons. I don't know about these 2 but I know the starter I want." I said walking over to intercept Scorbunny. I stood in his path and he stopped as he got close to me, and looked at me with curiosity.
"Well are you ready to help me conquer the pokemon world?" I asked the small rabbit Pokemon while smiling. The rabbit smiled back and I held my hand up for a high five which was met instantly by my new partner pokemon. I looked over at the others who were smiling a little at the interaction.
"I knew you'd want Scorbunny, but that's just fine cause I want Grookey. Though you did get one thing wrong. You won't be conquering the pokemon world we will right Grookey?" Shaquita asked as the Grookey which had climbed up to her shoulder while she talked let out small noises of agreement.
"Guess we all wanted different starters to begin with, but I'm certain that we'll be on top of the pokemon world. After all I'm more strategic than both of you." Sally said while holding Sobble in her arms the same way you'd hold a small child. She did have a point with what she'd said though. While Shaquita and I could definitely strategize perfectly fine we both were more aggressive than she was and would just brute force our way through things.
"It's not that we can't be strategic we just prefer to end things quickly." I said trying to defend my battle style focused around speed and attack with little defense.
"I have a good feeling about you 3. Unfortunately I don't have any Pokedex's here right now, so go to my grandma's house at the end of route 2 and I'll give each of you one there." Sonia said as we nodded. I ran home to grab my bag, and tell mom about what I was doing. I got home and quickly grabbed my bag which has already been packed for about 2 days.
"So how'd it go?" Mom asked when I came back down. I looked at her and smiled before throwing Scorbunny's PokeBall releasing the fire bunny.
"I got my Pokemon. Now I've just got to go get my Pokedex from Professor Magnolia, and then go to Motostoke to start the gym challenge." I said as mom walked over to me. She pulled me into a tight hug, and I quickly hugged her back relishing one of the last hugs we'd have for a while.
"Here I'm sure you'll train Scorbunny until he's strong enough to stand up to anything, but you'll need a few other pokemon for backup." Mom said handing me 5 Pokeballs as I smiled at her.
"Thanks mom. I've gotta go I'll see you at Wedgehurst station. Love ya!" I said running out the door. I booked it past Wedgehurst station, and towards route 2. I looked around and saw a Pokemon I was eager to catch a Rookidee. Well to be more precise I was interested in it's final evolution Corviknight. I tossed out Scorbunny, and was ready to battle Rookidee.
"Ok Scorbunny use Ember." I said as Scorbunny spit a small stream of fire at Rookidee. It landed injuring and confusing the Rookidee. It rushed at Scorbunny and used peck, but it didn't do much damage. I quickly threw a Pokeball at the Rookidee and waited to see if it would be caught. Eventually I heard the Pokeball click and walked over to grab it. I was smiling slightly as it finally started setting in that I was about to embark on a journey to complete my dream. No it wasn't to complete my dream winning the Champion cup was only the beginning of my dream.
I continued on my way to professor Magnolia's house, and was challenged by a few trainers, but they weren't a challenge. Though they did make for good practical experience for my Pokemon. Scorbunny had learned Double Kick after beating a Dottler. When i got to Professor Magnolia's I was a little disappointed to see Sally and Shaquita were already there.
"Ah so this must be Cameron. Well now that you're all here let me go and get your Pokedex's." Professor Magnolia said. She was wearing a lab coat, and had her gray hair up in a bun. We walked inside with her and she suddenly turned around like she just realized something.
"You 3 don't happen to have Rotom phone's do you?" She asked as we nodded and pulled out our Rotom phone's. Mine had a red case, Sally's was a dark blue, and Shaquita's was a light green.
"Sonia should've asked you if you had one back at the lab. Oh well hand me your phone's and I'll install the Pokedex onto it." Professor Magnolia said as she went to each of us and installed the Pokedex.
"I know you want to get right to Wedgehurst to go to Motostoke, but I'd recommend resting here for the night." Professor Magnolia said as we heard the door open. We turned and saw Sonia with her Yamper in the doorway.
"I'll start making dinner then." Sonia said smiling. I saw the smirk on Shaquita's face as I started smiling a little. Even if it can be a little much at times it can be funny when she just says something completely out of nowhere.
"Can I sleep with Sonia tonight?" Shaquita said as Sally and I shook our heads in amusement way to used to Shaquita's personality.
"We have guest rooms for you 3. While dinner's being made you guys can do whatever you want for now. I'll let your parents know that you'd be here for the night, and you'll meet them at Wedgehurst tomorrow morning." Professor Magnolia said as I knew what I wanted to do.
"You guys want to battle?" I asked Sally and Shaquita as they smiled and nodded.
"Why don't we make this more interesting and only use our starters?" Sally asked as I smiled.
"I'm fine with that." I said as we went outside.
"I am too." Shaquita said as we stood in a triangle. We all threw out a Pokeball and Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble were released.
"Scorbunny attack Grookey with Ember!" I yelled as Scorbunny gave a small noise of in understanding. Scorbunny sent a small stream of fire at Grookey. The fire connected, and thanks to the type match-up Grookey was basically out of the battle. Before I could get excited a water ball sent Scorbunny rolling. I looked at Scorbunny and was a little shocked to see that he had feinted. Sobble had landed a critical hit against me, and since it was a water attack it was super effective.
"I knew you'd go after Grookey. After all you wouldn't think to not take attack the one you could basically feint in one shot. I just needed to wait till after you attacked." Sally said smirking as I felt my eye twitch. She knew what I'd do and played me. This is why she said Starters only she had figured out how it all would play out.
"Too bad you forgot one thing. Grass is super effective against water." Shaquita said as Grookey hit Sobble with a branch poke. Sobble took the hit and although he was damaged he was still in the battle.
"Sobble use Tackle." Sally said as Sobble charged Grookey, and slammed into him. Grookey hit the ground and feinted.
"Looks like I win." Sally said as I smirked. As much as I hate losing I could thank this battle for one thing. It just fueled my drive to get stronger, and I wouldn't be satisfied until I'm the strongest not just in Galar but in every region. Though I had a feeling these 2 would always be with me in terms of strength. But I refuse to lose to them again, and I will train like hell to get the strength I desire.
First chapter is done it's a little shorter than what most chapter's will be but I wanted to get it out as soon as possible. This is set during the Sword and Shield games. A big thank you to Det3rmined_Writ3r for letting me use Shaquita, and Trishula97 for letting me use Sally. I have a lot planned for these 3 and the others who will be joining them on this journey.
