"I know my tosses are good! So please score more often!!"

Kageyama freezes, His face filled with shock and horror. He looks down holding back his tears, his tongue was tied. He felt his heart clenching and he couldn't help but clench his fists. "No no" He thinks "I don't want it happening again...I don't want to be alone again".

Over the pass few months, The King of the court has been silenced and shut out ever since Kageyama Tobio decided to change. His demeanor on the court had changed and although it was a good change and benefited his team for a while. Was it really the greatest choice?

"Look at that" Tsukishima said, shrugging his shoulders, "It's the return of the king". Kageyama did not hear his teammate's comment. He's used to Tsukishima's snarky remarks and attitude even when he first met his face really pissed Kageyama off. But, he couldn't care less right now. He was mentally preparing himself for the worst. For Coach Ukai benching him, or the team to turn his back to him or even for them to curse at him and kick him out the team. His whole body was shaking, he really didn't want the horrible memory coming back and history repeating itself because of him being a king. But, he fucked up. He burst out with zero thought as if it was about time he burst out and finally broke his façade and now he was going to have to accept the consequences.

He felt himself crumble as he felt the stares of his teammates. He flashes back to what his superior, Atsumu Miya said that has bothered him for the past few days:

"You're a Goody Two Shoes, aren't ya?"

As Kageyama thought about it more he now realizes what Atsumu meant. Of course, now is the time he realizes what Atsumu was trying to say. Amazing timing really. Kageyama closes his eyes mentally preparing himself for the worst until someone had spoken up.

"What's wrong with him being the king again?"

Kageyama glances at his rival, Hinata Shoyo. Although he wouldn't admit it he saw him as his friend. He felt his heart feel lighter as if the mere presence of Hinata himself was a ray of sunshine on his dark and miserable predicament at the moment. He would call Hinata his rival or even call him a dumbass a lot of the time. Kageyama couldn't even count how many times he's picked a fight with the middle blocker with his two hands. Although he would tell to Hinata to his face that he wasn't his friend and convince himself that he was nothing but his rival he wouldn't say that now. He'd say he was grateful for saving him...for understanding him when nobody else could.

"No matter what Kageyama says, if I don't like it, I'm just not gonna listen to him!"

Kageyama stared at Hinata. The world went silent and he couldn't hear his teammates he could only see Hinata. It felt like it was only him and Hinata just standing on the court. But, Hinata wasn't finished speaking, "I mean the king is meant to be cool" Hinata said, looking at Kageyama in the eyes. He was also rubbing his hair with a towel probably gesturing to the crown that was on Kageyama's head. Kageyama couldn't help but give him a scowl but he didn't look away from his eyes.

Hinata smirks at him, he tries flattening his hair to imitate Kageyama's iconic hairstyle but since his hair was uncontrollably fluffy it wasn't really working for him. Kageyama looked at him, confused as he stared at him.

"The setter's the most dominant roll. It's the coolest!" Hinata imitated Kageyama for what he told him months ago. Usually he would be annoyed and grab him by his collar by now but he was frozen in his place. 'He remembered that? Why would he remember that?' Kageyama thought as he stared at him.

He felt his heart beating a little faster, he felt time slow down as Hinata continued, "We're not going to forget that you said all that". Hinata started to form the towel on his shoulder to form a crown to newly crown the King of the court. Kageyama blinked at him. "From this day you shall be known as ..."

"The new king of the court!" Kageyama backed up as he felt time slow down as he saw Hinata jump and aim for his head. He was opening his mouth to say something but he felt the towel go on his head. He stood there as he stared at Hinata. His heart was beating fast, his palms were sweaty and he only stared at the boy in front of him. He felt his ears burning hot as he stood there. It was just him and the boy in front of him. His own rival. His teammate. Just Kageyama Tobio and Hinata Shoyo. Just the two of them.

"...Do I like him?"

Kageyama thought as he stood there looking at the boy before him. He blushed at the thought, quickly grabbed the towel on his head and threw it on Hinata's face but as he did Hinata couldn't help but notice a smile spread on the newly crowned King of the court's face. Hinata was satisfied seeing the smile on Kageyama's face. He doesn't see it often but when he does he couldn't help but feel happy. Kageyama wasn't the type to smile or show emotions off well so seeing the setter smile was something Hinata truly treasured.

Kageyama swallowed the thought and focused on the matter at hand, he faced his team and spoke, "I don't really know how others feel, and apparently I'm not the best at words-"

"We know that already!" Hinata said, teasing him.

"You're saying that now?" Tsukishima said.

Kageyama ignored them, "But, I'll do everything I can to be the best setter"

Hinata smiled at him. Kageyama felt his heart beat a little faster looking at him so he looked away. "You're saying that now?" He heard his captain, Daichi say so he turned his way looking confused. "You've always been that" Daichi continued smiling at the setter. Asahi smiled at Kageyama as well as Sugawara gave him a closed-eyed smile and a thumbs up. He looked at them, blinking but gave them a small smile anyways. That statement coming from his superiors made him happy. But that feeling was cut short.

" Aw, apparently the King is a sweet little boy" Tsukishima said, smirking at him. Kageyama was about to talk back but his teammates beat him to it.

Hinata jumped in, defending Kageyama, "Come on, Tsukishima! Grow up!"

"Wow, Hinata just said that" Yamaguchi said, surprised

"You're still mad about earlier, huh?" Tanaka asked, tauntingly referring to the incident of Kageyama pushing Tsukishima to jump higher earlier. Tsukishima scowled.

"You should've guessed that!" Sugawara added, showing him a thumbs up.

"Guess read blocking!" Nishinoya exclaimed, having his arms high in the air, looking as if he was blocking.

Ennoshita sighed, "Stop confusing things from another thing. It's going to have a different meaning now!"

Kageyama smiled once again and once he saw Hinata approach him he froze in place. Hinata grabbed him by the collar, pulling on it so Kageyama's face can go down to his eye level having their faces a little too close with each other. Kageyama blushed, "Why is this dumbass so close!?". Hinata looked at him in the eyes, very seriously, "See Kageyama, You don't have to be scared anymore huh?". Kageyama could only stare at him but once he realized he was staring a little too long, he pushed Hinata off of him and turned his back to him to hide his blush from the tangerine.

Tanaka smirked, "Hey, lovebirds! Timeouts over!"

Kageyama blushed but from his view he didn't see Hinata blush behind him too. Before they'd brush off the comment but now it seems like things have changed. It wasn't only the new skills they've acquired from the training camp over the week but how they saw each other now. Kageyama sighed in relief as he looked the other way, The whole king of the court issue wasn't his concern anymore. His team were accepting him for who he was and he didn't need to be paranoid of his old situation to haunt him again.

But...He looked at Hinata who was back on stand by talking to Yamaguchi who was laughing at him. He blushed looking at the human tangerine and just stomped his way back on the court as he felt his face just blush again. All the things that just happened, time just suddenly slowing down a while ago, him just blushing when he lays his eyes on him, his heart beating faster, and now that you mention it Kageyama has been thinking about Hinata a little too much these days. That's the symptoms of having a liking towards someone at least from what Kageyama has heard from the people around him and the media.

He didn't really think about having a crush or loving someone anytime soon since he was so heavily focused on volleyball and the memories that constantly haunted him didn't make him consider having a significant other or crushing on someone at all. Maybe it was because he hasn't seen Hinata for an entire week were the cause of whatever these sudden feeling for him were coming from. But, he's survived without seeing Hinata over the weekend before so that definitely wasn't just because of the nostalgia of seeing him after a long time. He clicked his tongue as he stood on the court.

"I'm really starting to crush on that tangerine huh"

- -

Today was the day. The day that was very important for Karasuno and the entire Miyagi Prefecture really. It was time to compete in the nationals. The entire team was on the way to Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Kageyama was in his seat with Hinata snoozing right next to him. Apparently he couldn't sleep last night since he was too excited but ended up falling asleep on the bus.

Kageyama blushed. The thought of Hinata leaning on his shoulder was gonna make his heart burst out from his chest. But, thankfully he wasn't Hinata was drooling on the window next to him instead. Kageyama would usually be very calm maybe thinking of strategies or sets he'd pull off later or maybe start thinking of the people he had met during the training camp being there and having to interact to them to best of his abilities. But, his mind was too preoccupied at the moment. About his recent discovery during yesterday's practice match.

"What's wrong with him being the king again?"

"From this day you shall be known as ... The new king of the court!"

"See Kageyama, You don't have to be scared anymore huh!?"

He blushes, taking a glance at his...crush right next to him, just peacefully sleeping. He clicked his tongue looking away from him. 'Damn, I'm so fucked' Kageyama thought as he leaned on the bus seat, closing his eyes to maybe distract himself or collect his thoughts. But, no all he could think about was the boy sitting right next to him. He frowned even though his eyes were still closed. 'Damn I never knew this crush thing would actually be this hard'

He thought back on all the instances he'd actually come close to realizing his own feelings but he'd buried them immediately. It wasn't particularly his fault he didn't really know any of this crush business in the first place and besides his emotions weren't really particularly great back then either. He opened his eyes and turned to look at Hinata again.

Even back then Kageyama should've noticed he started liking Hinata. He'd always look for Hinata to practice, to walk to class, to study, to walk home and literally just staying by his side 24/7. That whole rivalry was nothing, it was just there for them to get closer and make them get along and unexpectedly make one of them develop feeling for the other.

Kageyama suddenly felt a chill down his spine as he remembered something Hinata told him.

"You toss just fine to me, It makes no difference to me"

He blushed as Hinata said that but he pushed it away thinking that Hinata was only saying that to make him set to him right. But, honestly the feeling of Hinata being able to hit one of his sets when all these months he believed no one would hit his sets ever since the incident was honestly...just refreshing. He should've realized that he was starting to fall for his teammate by that moment itself and that it would keep spiraling since then. But, nope he wouldn't notice and only realize now that this crush wasn't just a little crush anymore. He was fucking in love with him and it wasn't going away that easily.

He sighs and looks at Hinata again. He clicks his tongue looking at him. "Why do I even like you?" He murmured to himself, he looks the other way, sighing. He closes his eyes and falls asleep to get some rest for the two matches he has to play today.

 *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

Here we go, Karasuno's first match in the nationals. This was only one of the steps they have to take to reach their goal. But, of course that doesn't mean it wasn't useless. Karasuno stand on the court and bow to the their opponents and yell, "THANK YOU FOR THE GAME!!" as always and run back to prepare to play. Kageyama stands there, breathing in and out trying to get the thought of Hinata out of his head and focus on the game in front of him. It was rather difficult when he heard Hinata laughing and fooling around with Nishinoya but he has to pull through.

"Hey! Kageyama!!" Kageyama really didn't wanna hear his voice right now, he was trying to concentrate but out of instinct he turns to look at the tangerine-haired man who was showing such a bright smile for him. He blushed, but swallows to hear what he had to say. Hinata wasn't planning on talking to Kageyama but he felt like he should say something to him.

"We can do this!" Hinata simply said, smiling up at him. Kageyama felt himself blush harder. "Why does he have to be so cute all the time" He thought, clicking his tongue and looking away. He pats Hinata on the head and lets the feeling of his soft hair warm his hand. Hinata freezes in place as he wasn't expecting for anything like this from Kageyama but he closes his eyes, a visible blush on his face as he lets Kageyama give him a head pat. Kageyama blushes, he doesn't look at Hinata as he pats his soft hair so he doesn't see his blush but Hinata sees Kageyama's even though he tries to hide it.

"Aweee, Kageyama! Are you embarrassed?" Hinata teased Kageyama, not really knowing why the blueberry was blushing in the first place. These two really are dense. These two were hopeless. Kageyama blushes harder, looking away still not removing his hand from Hinata's hair. "Yeah, whatever. Think what you want to think, dumbass" He replies, he turns back to Hinata who was still giggling. He removes his hand from his hair and looks at Hinata, giving him a smile. Hinata smiles back, laughing at him as Kageyama turns away, yelling unclear curses at Hinata who was just laughing.

Meanwhile, their team mates were just awkwardly standing there seeing there interaction. Daichi glances at Sugawara who only said "We all knew, don't act surprised" to the captain. Nishinoya and Tanaka were trying not to ruin the moment and just quietly watch the two. Asahi was just awkwardly standing there. Yamaguchi wasn't even surprised at this point, only teasing the two to Narita and Kinoshita who laughed in response.

Tsukishima decided to join in the conversation. He turned to Yamaguchi saying, "So, are they dating or not?" which made Sugawara, Narita, Kinoshita and Yamaguchi laugh. Ennoshita just sighed, shaking his head. Kageyama shoves Hinata away and turns to the net, Hinata was distracting him. He really needed to focus on the game. So he turns his attention to the opposing team and stared them down, thinking of strategies that would work against them.

The whistle sounded indicating the start of the game. The opposing team was preparing for Karasuno's serve as Karasuno was also preparing to be defensive when necessary. Asahi serves another amazing serve but unfortunately the opposing team receives it back perfectly. As the game started the announcers narrated everything that was happening in the background as Daichi receives the ball and directs it towards to Kageyama, yelling "Kageyama!" catching the setter's attention to alert him that the ball was coming towards him.

Kageyama turns to the sound of his name and prepares to set the upcoming ball. He turns to look at who to set to seeing Tanaka and Asahi preparing to spike but freezes as he sees Hinata preparing to jump as well, he jumps higher as Kageyama has seen him as if he was really flying. Kageyama freezes in place and just stares at him. "We were just away for a week and yet he's able to jump higher now? Man, has he improved" Kageyama thinks. He feels as if time slows down as their eyes just made contact at each other.

Huh.

Huh.

"Damn it, I really do like you"

Being the last thing he thinks as he impulsively just sets toward Hinata and he hits the first point for the game.

Hinata lands on his feet as he stands next to Kageyama who's still staring at him. Hinata looks towards him indicating a fist bump, Kageyama stands there for a second or two before registering what was happening in front of him. He fist bumps Hinata as they both stare into each others eyes for what seemed like hours but it was just only for a second as the sign behind them showed that Karasuno had earned the first point in the game.

 *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

Well, Karasuno has done it again. Their first match was a clear swoop as they dominated over the opposing team. Kageyama sat on the floor as he drank from his water bottle, sighing catching his breath. Sugawara patted Kageyama's back as if he was praising him. Kageyama looked up at his senior setter, nodding up at him. Sugawara decided to talk to Kageyama while the others were out there, either watching the matches happening or doing something else.

"So, Kageyama" Sugawara started, Kageyama turns to Sugawara still drinking from his water bottle. "You like Hinata don't you?" Kageyama freezes in place as he stared at Sugawara. He looked around, trying to see if anyone was near to them but he saw no one. He sighs, looking back at Sugawara and flatly saying, "Yeah..". Sugawara laughs, sitting next to Kageyama, "We figured" . Kageyama freezes, looking at Sugawara confused.

Sugawara laughs as he sees his confused face. "The entire team had kinda put two and two together especially when you patted his head earlier and how you were acting earlier in the game...Seems like you finally figured it out yourself" Kageyama stared at Sugawara as he was talking, "You made my job easier, Kageyama. I didn't need to tell you that you liked Hinata"

Kageyama blushed as he heard Hinata's name, making Sugawara smile. "I advice you to tell him at some point, Kageyama" Kageyama sighed as he heard Sugawara say that, He knew he had to confess to him at some point but he was scared. He was so scared of their friendship being ruined with him confessing. He was scared the team would fall apart if Hinata would start hating him afterwards. He doesn't want to be alone. He didn't want to be abandoned again.

Hinata and the team was all he had he didn't want to watch them leave him too. It was honestly normal that Kageyama felt like this and he was thinking that he shouldn't tell Sugawara. But, he trusted his senior. His sister told him years ago to open up to people ever since he was young, repeating it to him over and over to him and since he was changing for the better... he was gonna give it a try and the first step to doing that was maybe...to open up to his friends and Sugawara was the best person for that.

"I..." Kageyama starts, he seemed to hesitate but as he looked at Sugawara he felt safe and that he could tell him anything. Sugawara pats Kageyama's knee, trying to encourage and comfort him. Kageyama takes a deep breath to calm himself then turns to Sugawara, he was gonna voice out his thoughts and finally stop keeping all his feeling bottled up to himself, "W-what if I ruin our friendship? What if the team falls apart if I confess to him?...What if he hates me and doesn't want to be my friend anymore?" Kageyama said, murmuring the last parts as if he was ashamed of venting out, he was repeating all his thoughts a while ago out loud for Sugawara to hear. Sugawara smiled as he squeezed Kageyama's knee again as a comforting gesture.

"I can understand what you're trying to say, Kageyama" Sugawara started, still rubbing Kageyama's knee. "Let me tell you a story hmm?" Kageyama nods as Sugawara properly faced him now, "Me and Daichi were friends for a really long time and I started crushing on him too like you are with Hinata right now. I was also contemplating if I should confess or just keep it to myself to keep our friendship since our friendship meant the world to me and I felt like I was contented enough to being just his friend. But, then I found out another person was also crushing on Daichi at the time. I wasn't just gonna stand there and watch him being taken away so I sucked it up and confessed to him and told him. "Daichi, I really like you" and as I was expecting for him to tell me that he didn't like me back...he ended up saying that he did"

Kageyama blinked at Sugawara, "Wait, you and Daichi-san are dating?". Sugawara laughs, as he shook his head as he looked back at Kageyama. He turned serious again as he continued, "I know confessing is a huge risk. But, life is about taking risks. We only have one life to live and honestly if you don't take risks. You'd honestly regret it for the rest of your life. Why not try thinking, ' Oh, What if he does like me? What if the team grows stronger if I confess to him? What if our relationship grows stronger?". Kageyama sat their as he pondered what Sugawara was trying to tell him. Sugawara smiled, wider at him, "I know you can do this, Kageyama. It must be hard having to be thinking of things like being abandoned all the time and having to think if this certain action will lead to this and that happening. I wouldn't know since I don't know what you were going through or what you're thinking. But, please do consider what I'm trying to tell you. You'd thank me in the end you know"

Kageyama stared at him again, "But, I'm not as good as interacting as you. I'm not as confident as you are...How am I even going to confess when I'm not as good at...i don't know how to express my feelings as good as you do..". Sugawara patted Kageyama's head and looked at him in the eye. "Don't compare yourself to me, Kageyama. We're all different. You don't have to have the skills of being confident or expressing your feelings well. Just speak from the heart...once you start you know exactly what to say once you do. Just try your best you don't really have to be the best at everything. You're aiming to be the best setter right now there's no need for you to force yourself to be perfect at another thing right away, you know?"

Kageyama quietly laughs as Sugawara winks at him, smiling mischievously. Kageyama blinks as he ponders what Sugawara has just told him. He sighs, facing Sugawara, "Suga-san, you do know we should we focusing on the upcoming match tomorrow instead of this?".

Sugawara laughs as he wrapped his arm around Kageyama's shoulders giving it a squeeze, giving him a side hug. "I know, I know. But, you're starting to be obvious" Kageyama blushes as Sugawara said that. Sugawara leans in to whisper to him, "Between you and me, I think the team is really on to you and Hinata. Better confess quick or they'd tell him first". Kageyama sighed, annoyed as Sugawara squeezed his shoulder again.

Kageyama felt safe as Sugawara laughed right beside him and his arm was wrapped around him in a comforting manner. Maybe he was right, maybe confessing to Hinata about how he felt would be better. Besides the others might snitch on him especially that bastard Tsukishima. He really wasn't alone anymore. Yesterday's incident would have been evidence of that but today was just another moment in his life showing him just that.

His team weren't really gonna be leaving him anytime soon. This time was different. His team understands him and helps him when he needs it. He found people who understand him, people who he wouldn't just call his teammates but his friends. "Yeah, Suga-san is right" Kageyama thought as he smiled slightly, "I'll confess once the nationals are over". He decided as he looked back at Sugawara with a more visible smile on his face.

As this precious moment was happening, Daichi and Asahi coincidentally walks in on to moment. Sugawara and Kageyama were still entrapped in their little world as they talked. Daichi smiled at the sight, "Isn't that just the sweetest, Asahi? Our little crow is finally opening up". Asahi smirked as he turned to his friend, "We both know you're not smiling at that but at Sugawara". Asahi earned a hard slap on the back of his head for that.

TIME SKIPPING TO THE INARIZAKI MATCH  *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

The tension was thick, Everyone was tired. But, the game was still on. Every team member was gradually speeding up as the points were tied. It was a match point and Karasuno was fighting back on the court as much as they can.

Coach Ukai was yelling at the team to slow down as it was getting dangerous that they were getting faster. Kageyama felt his heart hammering hard in his chest as he moved around the court, tired. But, they needed to win. Every one of his teammates on the court felt the same thing as Kageyama as they all felt the need to win. It felt as if a thick rope was strangling each of their necks as time kept ticking. Hinata felt the tension was thick around the court and decided to do something about it.

"Got it!"

Hinata had received the ball nicely. Kageyama stood there for a moment, breathing out as if letting go of tension. He turns to Hinata as he received the ball. No one notices but Kageyama smiles as he stared at Hinata.

All the other Karasuno players on court sighed to breathe out the tension that was built up the same as Kageyama did. Sugawara tears up as he sees Hinata's slight improvement. First Kageyama and now Hinata. That training camp really changed both of them, huh?

Kageyama prepares to set the ball and eyes Tanaka who was ready to spike. He sets the ball towards him as he spikes his hardest. He ends up being blocked by Inarizaki but that didn't stop the momentum Karasuno had right now. There was no time to feel regret of being rejected right now all they had time to do right now was to fight. Hinata had cut through the tension building up on the court which was useful. They wouldn't let that moment go to waste now. None of Karasuno weren't gonna let that go to waste. Especially Kageyama.

Kageyama acts fast and touches the ball as it goes to the back. As the game went on the more intense it was getting. Tsukishima jumps to receive the ball but as he realizes he wasn't gonna make it he pushes his body to move more. But, as he was starting to feel the despair Daichi jumps in and returns the ball back to Inarizaki covering for Tsukishima. The crowd held in their breath as the game went on.

"Up front! Up front!" Atsumu yells at his teammates as the balls came hurdling back to their side of the court, which unfortunately gets received back by one of the members on the team. Karasuno realizes the attack and runs to the front of the court as fast as they could as they could see the Miya Twins were starting to do a quick attack just like Kageyama and Hinata's.

The angle. The position. The timing. Everything was perfect for the Miya Twins's Minus Tempo quick attack. As Atsumu sets towards Osamu, the grey-haired twin spikes the ball. Kageyama and Hinata eye each other and both jump at the same time blocking one of Osamu's spikes. Both their hands were touching each others but not both of them noticed as the game was on at the moment. They both push the ball back and both successfully block the ball. As the ball flies off, two of Inarizaki's players jumps and reach out top receive the ball back like how Daichi and Tsukishima did but it was too late.

The ball had touched their side of the court it was close to being an out ball but it hits their side of the court. Everyone freezes as the ball hit the ground as the red flag was raised. The whistle blows and the huge sign showing off their scores has showed it as proof. 30:32. Karasuno had done it...They had won another game.

Kageyama and Hinata kneels on the ground on their knees, breathing heavily and sweating profusely as they started registering the events that had just happened. The rest of the Karasuno team runs on to the court ready to embrace the two first years who were clearly tired. The two had did it. Blocking an attack that the twins have got of from the two of them was nothing but iconic. The two quickly caught their breath and impulsively turned to look at each other as the crowd and their teammates cheer in the background. They had won another game together. Kageyama couldn't think straight as he looked into Hinata's eyes. They both stared into each other as the world fell silent and it felt like it was just the two of them.

The rest of the team were happy, cheering each other on around them and celebrating but Hinata and Kageyama were in their own little world as they knelt there together, looking at each other. Kageyama wasn't thinking right, heck he didn't think at all. He was still running on pure adrenaline as he reaches out to touch Hinata's cheek, Hinata couldn't even react when he felt Kageyama just kissing him.

Karasuno froze in place as they saw the scene forming before them. Everyone saw what happened but not everyone understood why the team was surprised maybe they just thought they were already together beforehand. But, they weren't. Sugawara was excited for Kageyama to confess during the end of the nationals he surely wasn't expecting to see Kageyama just kiss Hinata right in front of them.

"Huh.." Atsumu said, as he turned from them. He looked as his twin, " I never knew they were together ". Osamu scowls at his twin, "I'm pretty sure they aren't but go off". Atsumu glares at his twin, starting another useless argument with his twin as they both joined their team as they line up to thank their supporters. Kageyama opens his eyes to just realize what he just did. He quickly separates himself from the kiss as he looks at Hinata with nothing but fear and horror as he realized that he'd just kissed his friend. His best friend. He kissed Hinata, who he was planning on confessing to in a week or something not kissing him right now. He stood up, his heart hammering in his chest hard.

"K-Kageyama i-" Hinata starts as he stares up at him. He was shocked at what happened too. Everyone was to be honest. Kageyama felt despair fill his heart as he stared down at Hinata's face. He didn't look happy, and he felt like crying as the situation before him fully sank in. He just fucked up his own plans of confessing, his friendship with Hinata and possibly the chemistry of the team.

Kageyama turns to look at Sugawara, who was equally as surprised as he was. Sugawara looked into his eyes and could honestly just see the fear in Kageyama's eyes. He saw how tears started forming in his eyes. He wanted to reach out and hug him but before he could he sees Kageyama push past Daichi and Asahi and run out the court and leaving without looking back.

"Kageyama!" Hinata and Sugawara yell after him as Kageyama bolts out of the gymnasium. The entire team looked at each other, trying to figure out what to do. They were highly concerned for Kageyama. He might get lost since they were still in Tokyo, a place where clearly Karasuno and most importantly Kageyama isn't familiar with. But before they could turn to their managers and coaches to help them out Hinata just runs off after Kageyama yelling his name as he runs to catch up to him.

Kageyama panics as he pushes past people as he hears Hinata's voice coming closer and closer. He didn't wanna face Hinata right now. He wanted to clear his head first. He needed to think of a way to fix the situation. What he didn't need right now was the person he loved and accidentally kissed running towards him right now.

"Kageyama! Come on let's talk about this!" Kageyama hears Hinata's voice really closely behind him as they exit the gymnasium. The people around them would recognize them as the Karasuno players or maybe exes who were working things out in the middle of a volleyball game. Kageyama would run faster but his actions were slower than usual since he just finished an entire volleyball game which wouldn't be surprising. It was a miracle he could've out run Hinata at this point. Hinata was growing annoyed as he chased after Kageyama he voiced out his annoyance to Kageyama, ignoring all the people around him. "Come on, Kageyama! We have to talk about it at some point!"

"I know, but not know I have to figure things out" Kageyama quietly said to himself as he continued running away from him. Hinata sighs, annoyed. The setter sure was stubborn but that wasn't anything new at this point. Hinata runs as fast as he could and reaches out to grab Kageyama by the collar. He succeeds, surprising Kageyama as Hinata pulls on his collar hard but since the pull was rather hard Kageyama fell backwards on his back and Hinata falls on his back as Kageyama was just lying on top of him. Kageyama's breaths were coming out fast as he stood up to go run again but before he could Hinata holds onto his hand and pulls him back, "No, stop please"

Kageyama sighs out as he sits on the pavement as Hinata tried to catch his breath. It was game over. Kageyama would try to run again but his legs were going to give out and his chest was growing tight. It wasn't a good idea to run after a whole ass volleyball game. He was only left there to sit and try to come out with an half ass excuse. His heart was beating fast but he really didn't know if it was the adrenaline or if it was the situation in front of him or if it was because Hinata was so close to him right now. Hinata wraps his hand around Kageyama's wrist tight to make sure the boy wouldn't go running off again.

They were maybe a little too far from the gymnasium but they were under a tree and a few people were walking past them, just ignoring them. Hinata stares down at Kageyama as his back was turned to him. He was hiding his face from him. He felt his heart pang as he saw Kageyama biting his lip as if he was trying not to cry in front of him. Hinata really didn't know what to do. He just felt like running off to catch up after him. He needed answers from the setter.

"Kageyama.." Hinata calls out to him, quietly. Kageyama breathes out, shakily as he looked at Hinata. Kageyama was trying to put on a brave face as if this was nothing to him but honestly he was so drained that he was only showing off nothing but an empty look as his eyes were clearly just brimming up with tears. Hinata's heart broke as he reached out to cup Kageyama's cheek. He didn't really wanna see Kageyama cry. As much as he was curious if Kageyama would show off another huge emotion when he first met him but now he didn't wanna see the setter cry. Kageyama breathed out, closing his eyes feeling the comfort of Hinata's warm hand on his face.

Until, the setter finnaly spoke up, "Just forget about earlier, Hinata. It was nothing". Hinata felt anger store up inside off him as the setter said that. He took his hand away from Kageyama's face much to his dismay even though he expected it as he thought of that excuse to get out of the situation. He was gonna avoid this one at all costs. "That wasn't nothing, Kageyama! That was clearly something!" Hinata said, raising his voice as he was growing angry. Kageyama didn't speak, usually he would start arguing back at him but he was mentally drained and honestly he felt like he deserved it.

"You kissed me in front of an entire court of people! That clearly wasn't nothing!" Hinata continued, Kageyama felt Hinata grow angrier and angrier. A lot of people were around but the two didn't really care that much. This was more important than what people would think right now. "I mean come on Kageyama! Kissing someone on the freaking lips isn't just like "Oh, I'm doing this because we're friends". It's literally a thing people do when they're a couple or in love!" Hinata continues on, he didn't really know why he was even arguing with Kageyama right now. He really wanted answers from him but he couldn't stop himself from fighting with him. He was angry at what Kageyama said but he felt like arguing with him was nothing but just a pure habit while talking to Kageyama at this point.

"W-well...I don't know I felt like it was what I needed to say.." Kageyama quietly says, looking down. He couldn't look at Hinata in the eye anymore. He felt ashamed. All his charm and confidence on the court was gone now. He was nothing right now. He couldn't even just say to Hinata that he loved him and face the situation head on. He was cowardly and scared and honestly this was a different side of Kageyama that Hinata has never seen before. It was as if he was a fallen king. He legit just gave him that awesome pep talk just yesterday and now he was acting like this? Oh, he wasn't having it and he definitely wasn't going to lose to him.

"Well clearly that wasn't what I wanted to hear now was it" Hinata fired back at him, grabbing on to Kageyama's wrist tight trying to make sure Kageyama knew that he was definitely pissed at him right now. "I'm arguing with you and I'm clearly pissed! So, was it really the best thing to say now that you see how I'm reacting!"

Kageyama felt anger boiling inside of him too. He looked at Hinata with a new found energy as he stared at him down. Hinata was glad that he saw Kageyama show a familiar reaction from him. But, he was in the middle of an argument with him right now and that feeling immediately faded away as Kageyama yelled at him back, "Well, I'm not good at saying shit from my heart so can you really blame me?!"

Hinata rolled his eyes which made Kageyama more pissed, " Maybe try saying a smarter excuse like "Oh, I kissed you cause I was so happy we won or some shit like that"

"Well, I'm not good under pressure and you know that!" Kageyama fired back.

"Yet you're good at planning out a whole play in the middle of a volleyball in the air, I thought you were smarter than this Kageyama!"

"Well, it's different when it's volleyball! I can do crap in that game but when I'm on like this I don't know what to fucking do okay!"

"Volleyball this! Volleyball that! Can you say things out of your mouth that isn't volleyball!"

"As if you aren't the same, Hinata!"

The two we're just fighting for no reason at all at this point. This entire argument was stupid but honestly these two were so stupid. It wasn't even a surprise that even when they're trying to confess or try to resolve a problem fighting each other was always a part of it.

Hinata clicked his tongue, "Whatever, You're making me look smarter than you right now. Like honestly why would you say that!"

"Why are you persistent to know an answer is the better question here!" Kageyama yelled back at him, "Why are you trying to know that! It isn't even that important you know!". Hinata gritted his teeth as he looked at Kageyama dead in the eye as he yelled, "It's because I love you, you stupid idiot!"

Silence. Hinata panicked as he just said that. He covered his mouth with his two hands as he realized what he just said. Kageyama sat there looking at Hinata with his mouth agape. He was flabbergasted. Was this idiot really being serious? Kageyama's heart beat faster as he let Hinata's words sink into him, realizing what he just said he blushed as he was still staring dead into Hinata's eyes. Hinata also blushed harder as he saw Kageyama blush in front of him. The two idiots sat their blushing for what felt like forever. The two boys didn't know who had to make the first move so Kageyama decided to. It was the least he could do. Hinata was the one who confessed first.

Kageyama took a deep breath, looking into Hinata's eyes again serious. "A-Are you being serious right now?". Hinata felt his heart beat faster as Kageyama spoke. His mouth felt dry. His tongue was tied. He couldn't speak right now. He could only nod shyly as he felt his cheeks grow hotter as Kageyama looked away, licking his lips as his hands formed into fists. As five minutes had passed by Hinata felt like his heart would burst at this point. He was nervous as the minutes and seconds passed by as the silence was started to sink in.

Hinata was about to get up as Kageyama's silence was filling him up with despair but before he could he felt Kageyama's hand grab on to his wrist and pull him back on to the pavement to face him. His blank blueberry colored eyes stared into Hinata's brown ones. Both their hearts raced as they felt each others bodies close. But, before Hinata could ask why Kageyama pulled him back down. Kageyama kissed him.

Kageyama Tobio was kissing him! Hinata's eyes widened as he felt Kageyama's soft lips touch his again. He felt one of Kageyama's cold and shaky hands cup one of his cheeks. Hinata smiled as he closed his eyes, placing his hands on Kageyama's shoulders as he kissed him back. Kageyama sighed in relief in his head as he was kissing the middle blocker. He finally did it. He finally kissed him and it was by his choice this time and the best part was, Hinata was kissing him back. Kageyama's hand that was placed on Hinata's cheek moved up to his hair. Kageyama let himself feel the softness of Hinata's hair once again as he kissed him deeper. He heard Hinata giggle into their kiss as Kageyama smiled back.

Kageyama separated himself from the kiss but he didn't separate himself from Hinata as he leaned his forehead on to Hinata's as he was catching his breath. Hinata giggled as he opened his eyes to meet Kageyama's blueberry eyes. Kageyama smiled back as he took out the hand in Hinata's hair to squeeze Hinata's hand. Kageyama couldn't control his happiness as he just laughed at the situation before him. Hinata felt his heart soften as he heard him laugh. This was the first time he heard Kageyama laugh and honestly he couldn't wait to hear it more.

"Oh and..." Kageyama spoke looking into Hinata's eyes again, "I love you too, you dumbass"

Hinata laughs as he wraps his arms around Kageyama's neck and hugs him tight. Kageyama felt so much euphoria as he felt Hinata close as he hugged him tight. He wrapped his arms around Hinata's waist as he closed his eyes letting himself rest his head on his shoulder. The world was at his hands right now. First, he got into the nationals, developed a good relationship with his team, winning a match against one of the top teams of Japan and now he was in Hinata's arms and he was happy. Kageyama opens his eyes, looking up to see Hinata just staring at him with a huge goofy smile on his face. Kageyama smiles as he stands up and holding up his hand to help Hinata on his feet.

Once he was Kageyama holds Hinata's hand as he looks away from him as he was blushing again. He heard Hinata laugh as he felt him squeeze his hand. Everything was perfect and Kageyama felt complete. The lonely king was no longer alone. Now he had someone by his side and friends who he could easily trust. Kageyama was contented and has never felt this happy in his life and honestly he felt like he couldn't ask for anything more. He was happy, he was truly happy and that's all that mattered to him.

"This is great and all" Hinata said turning to look up at Kageyama. Kageyama stopped his eternal monologuing and turned to look at Hinata letting him speak, "We're supposed to be at the gymnasium and with the team right now...and we're lost at the moment" . Kageyama sighed as he looked around their surroundings and only realizing now that they were both seriously lost. Oh, They were definitely going to get a scolding from Takeda-Sensei, Daichi and Coach Ukai for this but honestly if Kageyama had to face all of that just for this moment to happen with Hinata again. He would endure it all.
