Pastry slowly awoke, her body was sore and her face felt numb. She turned her head to see Velvet sound asleep next to her, his arm gently wrapped around her. She smiled, resting her hand on top of his.

She coughed a bit, yawning. She figured she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep, tapping Velvet's shoulder to try and wake him up. It was morning anyways. He opened an eye, glancing over to her. "..yes?" he said in a softened voice.

Pastry tried to speak for a moment, before taking the notepad from the desk next to the bed, writing down in it. 'Hungry' it said. Velvet stared at it for a moment before nodding and sitting up, stretching out his legs before heading out to the kitchen.

Pastry laid there in thought, her mind racing. It all happened so quickly, she didn't know how to feel. She weakly sat herself up against the bed frame.

It didn't take long for Velvet to come back with some food on a tray. He placed it down of Pastry's lap before sitting on the side of the bed. Pastry nodded in thanks, taking the tray as she started to slowly eat, leaning her head on Velvet's shoulder.

Velvet took a deep breath, glancing out the window, the sun just barely peeking over the lush trees. He wasn't sure what to do or what to think either. 'God. What am I going to do with the both of us..' he thought to himself.

'I feel bad for not being able to give you the normal life you wanted, you certainly deserve it.' He paused for a moment before looking back to Pastry. 'Yet at the same time, you seem.. happier. And I wouldn't be here without you.'

He kissed the top of her head, giving off a soft gentle smile. 'I guess there's no such thing as a perfect life anyways.'

A few minutes passed, Pastry finished her food as she set the tray aside. She seemed a bit uncomfortable to Velvet, who took no time to question it. "Are you alright?" he asked.

Pastry shook her head, the stab wound on her side aching as she gestured to it. Velvet quickly understood, standing up and heading over to a small table in the room. "Herb gave me some sort of pain killers, did you want those?" he picked up the small bottle, looking back at her.

Pastry weakly nodded, moving her hand over the bandage over her side. Velvet went to the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water so it would be easier for her to swallow them.

She carefully took the pills handed to her, washing them down with the water. She took a deep breath. Of course, the pills wouldn't work right away, but hopefully, they would later on.

Pastry moved her hand to the bandages on her head, carefully removing them. Most of the wound was healed, but it left a huge nasty scar on the side of her face.

"Can you see out of it? I don't know how healing magic works but maybe a bit of your eyesight was restored?" Velvet curiously asked. Pastry nodded her head. She could see out of it, but it was very faint.

"That's good then." Pastry motioned to a small mirror that lay on the table, curious to see what had happened for herself. She was a bit worried, what had happened to her? Would she still look alright?

Velvet passed the mirror to her, not thinking anything of it at the moment. She took the mirror, flipping it around to see herself.

Pastry froze seeing the huge scar, her eyes widening. Velvet looked at her worried. He didn't understand why she looked so upset. It was just a scar wasn't it? He wasn't too sure on what to do.

Pastry was dead silent. She carefully put her hand over the scar, feeling it. It looked awful, she looked awful. How would anyone let alone Velvet be able to love her looking like this? She quickly began to panic, setting the mirror down on the bed next to her. She could bear to see it anymore.

Pastry put her head on her hands, starting to silently sob. Velvet stood up and walked over to her, frowning. "Hey.. Relax.." he carefully put his hand on her shoulder.

She threw herself into his arms, holding on for dear life. Velvet jumped, stopping for a moment before gently wrapping his arms around her. "Is uh.. Something wrong?" he asked. She didn't respond, only silently sobbing into his arms.

"..Pastry? Can you look at me?" she paused for a moment before hesitantly looking up to him. "Listen- uh- I'm not good at sappy speeches, not my cup of sugar.. But I don't want to you worry about your appearance. You'll always be beautiful to me no matter what happens to you. I will always love every part of you, and I don't want to find you questioning that."

Pastry looked down a bit, just holding on to him tighter. Velvet gently kissed her on the head. "Hey.. I guess we both have one odd eye now, huh?" a soft smile crept on to Pastry's face.

Licorice wandered through the forest, the leaves and branches crunching beneath him as the sun just barely seeped through the trees. He didn't have much to do other than patrol the nearby forest. Boy, was it boring! Why did everyone else get all the fun, evil jobs?

Licorice peeked out from behind a scrub, quickly noticing a familiar cookie playing on a tree stump in the center of an opening, basking in the glory of the sunlight.

He stepped out. "HEY-" licorice shortly tripped over his robe, falling face-first into the ground. The sudden noise startled Clover, who quickly turned to see him on the ground.

They stood up, walking over. Licorice took his face from the ground, shaking the dirt off his face as he stood up and dusted himself off.

Clover smiled warmly. "Hello there! It's been a while hasn't it?" they looked to him, putting their instrument away in their sachet. "Yeah uh- hey." he shook the leaves out of his hair, quickly trying to play it cool. "Uhhh heyy.. What's up?" he awkwardly smiled.

"I'm just practicing my music! It's very nice out and I figured I'd do it out here! You had quite the fall there, are you alright?" "POSITIVE," he answered, a bit embarrassed by his entrance. "Nothing as puny as- falling in the first would harm me!"

Clover chuckled, fixing their hair. "I'm sure! Just wanted to make sure." "So.. You're not busy are you?" Licorice asked. "Not at all, what did you need?"

"How kidnappable are you?" "..what??" Licorice quickly heard Pomegranate yelling his name not far behind. He quickly turned around. Clover glared at him.

"Huh.. Crap I gotta go-" he hurried off, clover still staring at him. "Oh- okay-" they awkwardly smiled watching him run off.

A few days had passed, Velvet making food in the kitchen as Pastry slowly awoke again. She yawned, stretching as she sat herself up, coughing a bit. "mhh.. Morning.."

Velvet peeked through the door. "Oh hey, you can speak again." he walked inside as Pastry nodded and rubbed her eyes. Velvet made his way over, kissing her on the cheek before giving her the tray with her food on it. "Missed your voice." she smiled.

"Oh stop, you're so corny.." she chuckled, starting to eat her food. Velvet spoke up again. "Hopefully Madeleine and Espresso are alright, they were pretty beat up when I found them."

Pastry's expression quickly dropped. "Oh yes.. I must've forgotten about that." she sighed, continuing to eat. "I'm sure they're alright. If you can survive near-death I'm sure they can survive one stab wound."

"Mhm." She didn't like the conversation topic anymore. "Next time I see her she'll be paralyzed." she aggressively stabbed her food to eat it.

"Relax. I doubt she survived bleeding out with a huge gash in her stomach." "I don't care. If she's alive ill kill her. After she does ill keep going until I'm satisfied. Take half my face, I'll take your head. Seems like a fair trade to me."

"Yes- alright uh- just don't break the plate is all I'm asking." "hm?" Pastry lifted to her fork seeing a few permanent scratches on the plate beneath it. "Oh- Uhm- yes.. Apologizes.."

Velvet quickly burst out laughing. Pastry's face went red from embarrassment as she glanced away. "You're suck a dickhead.." "YOU- HAH-" she quickly smacked the back of his head. "OW- THAT WASN'T NECESSARY-"

"That was very necessary," she said before starting to laugh a bit herself. Velvet frowned, knowing damn well if he tried to attack her in the slightest she'd have his heart on a platter. He huffed.

Pastry calmed down a bit, sighing. "Love you." she smiled. "Mhmm.." He crossed his arms, pouting. Pastry pinched his cheek. "Oh shut up you big baby." "Shut up," he growled, slapping her hand away. "Aww, what! You need mommy to tuck you in?" she smirked.

Velvet dug his fingers into his arms, glaring at her. "Okay okay, I'm sorry!" "you know damn well the both of us already have mother issues." "It was a joke- and besides she wasn't my real mother. It was just her title. I wasn't even adopted." She leaned back and crossed her arms.

"Did you even have parents growing up?" he asked curiously. "No, not really. I was born to be in the order. Some sort of deal my birth parents had with Reverend? That's what I was told. I sorta let it slip when I was arguing with her back in the private execution."

Velvet nodded. "What about you?" Pastry asked. "I don't know where I came from, I think I was just traditionally baked. However, I do remember something. I think after I was baked one of the Witches tried to eat me biting my arm off. I probably tasted weird or something because they threw me back into the oven to burn alive or rot."

"..oh geez." Pastry said. "So you've actually seen the witches?" Velvet nodded. "What about enchantress?" Pastry asked. "What was it like before we met?" "I wasn't really educated growing up. It was only Working, fighting, and training all day. I wasn't allowed to normally feel or play as a child."

Pastry laughed a bit. "Oh I am going to hurt that bitch." Velvet wrapped his arms around her. "Relax, it's fine." "Oh, I'm very relaxed. Just a bit irritable." "That is not being relaxed." "Well I'm still going to be angry either way." she huffed.

"Hey, Pastry?" "yes?" "I have to go back to work today, alright?" Pastry nodded. "While you're at that I'm going to go make sure that Reverend is dead."

"That can't be a good idea, too risky. Plus, you just got better!" "there's no changing my mind, Velvet. Alright?" "Oh sugar. Alright. Just- please stay safe?" Pastry nodded. "I will."

She hurried out of bed, grabbing a jacket from the coat rack along with a sword she had been gifted by Madeleine. "Love you!" she said before hurrying out of the hut.

"There is no way this is going to end well.." Velvet took a deep breath.
