[Winter has come. Magnus is walking on an empty street with just some parked cars. Flashes of moments with Alec go through his mind. A smiling man is leaning against a lamppost, seeing Magnus walk by. It's Asmodeus, Magnus' father.]
ASMODEUS: My boy...
[Magnus stops walking, and turns his head. Asmodeus approaches him, Magnus slowly takes a few steps back.]
MAGNUS: How'd you get here? What fool summoned you?
ASMODEUS: A father's love knows no bounds. I could feel your pain all the way from Edom. I had to come.
Magnus scoffed.
[Asmodeus wants to put his hand on Magnus' arm.]
MAGNUS: Stay away from me!
ASMODEUS: You misunderstand, son.
MAGNUS: Oh, no, no, no, no. I completely understand. You're here to spread your darkness, it's what you do.
ASMODEUS: No. Today, I come to give you back what's rightfully yours.
[Asmodeus gathers his magic in a ball and presses his hand on Magnus' heart. Magnus holds on to his father as the magic flows back into him. Then he pushes Asmodeus away. Magnus is panting and looks at his hands which light up with the magic they now possess.]
MAGNUS: My magic... [suspiciously to Asmodeus] What do you want?
ASMODEUS: What every father wants... to see their child happy.
MAGNUS: With you there's always a price.
BONNIE: You already gave the price.
ASMODEUS: Not this time. In the centuries since you've banished me, not a day has passed when I haven't felt the pain of losing you. I took your magic... to bring you closer. That was wrong. All I want is another chance to be your father again.
[Magnus slowly pushes Asmodeus hand away from his arm.]
MAGNUS: Too late.
[Magnus snaps his fingers and opens up a Portal behind himself.]
ASMODEUS: I won't take no for an answer.
MAGNUS: You don't really have a choice.
[Magnus steps back into the Portal and it closes after him immediately.]
[INTRO IS SHOWN]
Rosaline opens her eyes and flashes her alpha eyes who had golden hue. She swings her katanas and fearless rune is showed. Achatius is standing in Edom and his eyes turn black and white wings appear behind his back. Theodore's magical bow appears and he stretches its string forming the strength rune. Jonathan is shown showing his demon eyes and his seraph blade appears. He cuts the air and flexibility rune is show. Clary is seen blowing the candles on her birthday cake forming the angelic rune. Jace is seen jumping from a building with eagles surrounding him. He jumps on the ground splashing the water which forms heightened speed rune. Alec is seen a room with healing rune drawn on one of the walls. He aims his arrow. Isabelle is now shown swinging her blade forming the parabatai rune. Simon is seen wiping the blood on his lips in hotel de mort. The whole background turns black and white. Luke is seen with a wall behind him covered with runes and wolves. Magnus is drinking his cocktail. Scene splits and shows Theo and Rose using their magic and flashing their golden red eyes. Achatius hands have sparkles dancing. Then all the runes are shown burning and Rosaline, Theo, Clary, Jace, Jonathan, Alec and Isabelle are shown walking and the title Shadowhunter appears with The Mortal Instruments written below. And the screen turns black.
[TITLE SCREEN]
[THE INSTITUTE]
[Simon, Clary, Jace, Jonathan and Izzy are following Jace to the Ops Center.]
SIMON: I don't understand. You said if you stayed with her, nothing bad could happen.
THEO: I only lost sight of her for a minute.
ISABELLE: Enough time for the Twinning rune to have taken hold.
JACE: And once I got back to her, it was already too late. She'd been completely overtaken.
[Alec approaches them.]
ALEC: Theo!
THEO: Alec, where were you?
ALEC: I got the alert. You okay?
THEO: I will be when we get Rose back.
ISABELLE: [to Alec] What about you? Everything okay?
HAYLEY: Definitely not.
ALEC: I'm fine. Number one priority is Rose. The Clave has reinstated the kill order on her and Achatius.
They were in shock.
CLARY: What?!
SIMON: You can't let them do that. You have to fight it. You're the Head of an Institute.
JACE: No, no, no. This is a Clave order.
THEO: We just have to get to Rose before they do.
ALEC: What's the latest on the Heavenly Fire serum?
ISABELLE: I'm still extracting particles of Glorious. Once I'm done, I should be able to create a more concentrated serum that's much more powerful than the one we tried before.
JONATHAN: And if you inject Achatius with that?
ISABELLE: That should separate Rose from Achatius for good.
SIMON: Okay, that's great and everything, but first we have to find them.
ALEC: Achatius and rose will have activated their Anti-Tracking runes. Finding them won't be easy.
[Theo thinks of a plan.]
KOL: You were up to something.
THEO: It will if they come to me.
[ACHATIUS' APARTMENT]
[Rose is sitting by the window. Achatius is pouring them champagne.]
ROSE: Champagne. Fancy.
[Achatius hands her a glass.]
ACHATIUS: Well, it is a special occasion. You saved me, Rose.
ROSE: You would do the same for me.
ACHATIUS: I would die for you. [Rose rises.] I've spent so long dreaming of the day that we'd finally be together. To us.
ROSE: To us.
[They clink their glasses and take a sip. Rose has a look on her face; Achatius notices it.]
ACHATIUS: Something's troubling you.
ROSE: Isabelle and the others are working on a stronger serum to break us apart.
ACHATIUS: Ah... Of course they are.
ROSE: That doesn't concern you?
ACHATIUS: No one can hurt us if we get the Morning Star first. And once we have that sword, the entire world will be terrified of us. And they will finally leave us in peace.
ROSE: But the Seelie Queen said she will only give you the Morning Star sword if you bring her Lilith's head.
ACHATIUS: Well, those were her terms. You up for a trip to Prague... little sister?
STEFAN: You were now going to play by your rules.
ROSE: Can't wait.
[A fire message suddenly flies into Rose's hand.]
ACHATIUS: From your Shadowhunter friends?
ROSE: It's from Theo. He wants to meet. He says that his parabatai love for me matters more than his loyalty to the New York Institute. And to prove it, he'll help us get back our family sword.
ACHATIUS: No. It's a trap. He just wants to come between us like he did before.
ROSE: He no longer has that power. I'm with you because I want to be with you.
ACHATIUS: Well, then why do you even need him?
ROSE: [stroking Achatius' cheek] Achatius... I love you, and I never want us to be apart. But... I also love Theo. I can't live without him, either.
ACHATIUS: He killed me once, Rose.
[Achatius turns his back to Rose.]
ROSE: He regret that choice every moment of his life. And if I tell him that I can't live without you. To be with me, Theo would accept that. The parabatai bond between us is more stronger than anything in this world.
[Achatius turns back to Rose, frustrated.]
ACHATIUS: I love you more than anything in this world! Isn't that enough?
ROSE: I want to hear Theo out. Maybe, if he really comes with us, it will be like old times. If you love me... come with me.
BONNIE: Your plan had a good start.
[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]
[Izzy sighs impatiently.]
ISABELLE: Patience is just not my thing.
SIMON: Yeah. Me neither. [Izzy comes up to the desk.] So, about last night... when you and I were both...
ISABELLE: Alone?
[They're about to share another intimate moment, but then there's a beep on the screen.]
Caroline was angry at the screen.
SIMON: Perfect timing.
[Izzy opens the machine that has been mixing the Heavenly Fire serum. She takes out one of the vials and looks at the gold liquid inside.]
ISABELLE: Pure Heavenly Fire...
SIMON: Wow... [the liquid starts bubbling and rising] What's happening?
[Izzy puts the vial in a holder and she and Simon watch the glass crack. The liquid transforms into a golden nugget.]
They were surprised seeing it.
SIMON: Whoa...
[Simon is about to touch the gold.]
ISABELLE: [shielding the gold with her hand] Simon, don't!
SIMON: What?
[Izzy picks up the gold block with a clamp.]
ISABELLE: Aldertree diluted Glorious's power because its concentrated form was lethal to Downworlders.
SIMON: Not to be a buzzkill, but... how do we inject Achatius with a rock?
KOL: The same question has been bothering me since.
ISABELLE: No clue.
[Izzy puts the gold back on the table.]
SIMON: What about the Iron Sisters? They're badass weapon-makers. Can't they help?
ISABELLE: Glorious was an Angelic relic. You know what they'd do if they knew we even had a piece of it?
SIMON: Probably not grind it through a centrifuge to save Rose.
ISABELLE: You know something? There is one Iron Sister that doesn't play by the rules.
LUKE: My sister.
SIMON: Luke's sister.
ISABELLE: Yeah.
[STREETS]
[Magnus is feeling all the feels, walking through a busy street. He walks past a wall full of locks, that spell out a heart and the word "love". His eye falls on a lock he knows. He thinks back of the moment when he and Alec hung the lock there.]
ALEC: I remember this one.
[FLASHBACK]
[Alec is holding Magnus' hand, almost dragging him to the wall of locks.]
MAGNUS: Where are we going?
ALEC: I told you, it's a surprise.
MAGNUS: I don't like surprises.
ROSE: Says the one who loves to surprise others.
ALEC: What do you mean? You're the king of them. You know, you start waving your hands around, I never know what's gonna show up in front of me. Okay. So... There's something... I wanted to do.
THEO: Hundred percent agreed.
[Alec pulls out a lock from his pocket.]
MAGNUS: Oh, you want to lock me up? I thought you'd never ask.
ALEC: No... no. Remember that bridge you brought me to in Paris last week, the one where people put those locks?
MAGNUS: To show their eternal love.
ALEC: Right. Well, they have a place like that here in New York too. Look, I don't know. I... I know it's silly. I wanted us to have a lock too.
[They've walked up to the wall. Alec shows Magnus the lock again. Magnus blows some of his magic on it, making an inscription that says "Aku cinta kamu".]
ALEC: What does that say?
KLAUS: "I love you" in Indonesian.
MAGNUS: "Aku cinta kamu". Indonesian for "I love you".
[Alec leans in and they kiss. Then Alec hangs the lock on the heart and they kiss again.]
[PRESENT]
[Magnus snaps his fingers and the lock unlocks. He takes it from the iron bars, holds it for a moment and then drops it on the ground. He makes fire come out of his hand and destroys the lock.]
They were sad at this scene.
[JADE WOLF]
[Maia is painting one of the walls of the Jade Wolf, she's covering up the blood stains. Jordan enters.]
JORDAN: You're painting at the crack of dawn.
MAIA: Nothing says 'come join our pack' like a blood-stained wall. It wouldn't wash off. Grab a brush.
[Maia throws him a brush. Jordan looks at the paint inside the can.]
JORDAN: You sure you don't want a colour with more, uh... pop?
MAIA: Don't even. [Jordan chuckles.] Who saved your butt when you had your truck painted?
JORDAN: Saved?
MAIA: Mm-hmm?
JORDAN: Okay. That blue you picked is the color they use in nurseries to make babies fall asleep.
They chuckled at this.
MAIA: Well, it was a thousand times better than that Santa Claus red you wanted.
JORDAN: That red was classic. Okay? You just didn't want me riding around in a chick magnet.
MAIA: The only "chicks" you'd have picked up are Mrs. Claus and a couple of desperate elves. Don't give me that look. You know I'm right.
JORDAN: No, you... you just... you've got paint on your face.
MAIA: [wiping her face] Huh. Did I get it?
JORDAN: Mm-mm. You want some help? Yeah? Okay. [Jordan wipes the paint off Maia's face.] Ah...
[Jordan continues to stroke her cheek softly. They have a moment. Then they both lean in and kiss.]
MAIA: I can't... I can't.
JORDAN: I'm so sorry. I... I thought it was both of us.
MAIA: No, it was. It's just... I wish we could go back. We can't.
They sighed at the couple.
[The bell at the door jingles as the door opens. Maia recognizes Raphael.]
MAIA: What are you doing here?
JORDAN: What, you know this guy?
RAPHAEL: We haven't met. I'm Raphael Santiago. Former head of the New York clan.
JORDAN: You're the one that raised Heidi from the dead.
RAPHAEL: It's a regret I'll live with until the day I die. I'm so sorry for what she did to your pack. I'm here to pay my respects. If you'll have them.
[Raphael steps forward, sunlight shines through the blinds on his face.]
RAPHAEL: It's okay. Um, I understand. I'll just...
MAIA: How are you doing that?
RAPHAEL: What?
MAIA: You're standing in the sun.
KOL: They didn't know.
[Raphael looks at the window and the light beaming through.]
RAPHAEL: Simon didn't tell you?
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]
[Alec, Jonathan and Theo enter the office to talk about the plan.]
ALEC: Going in unarmed? I don't like it.
THEO: It's the only way to save Rose.
JONATHAN: If Achatius smells a rat, you're a dead man.
THEO: True.
ALEC: He is right.
THEO: I know. Listen, he won't. Okay? We're gonna have real-time intel on their exact location. The second Isabelle is done with Glorious, we catch them off guard, and separate Jonathan and Clary.
[Alec goes to his desk and opens a drawer. He takes out a box with two Seelie rings.]
ALEC: Now, remember, in order for these rings to work and remain invisible, it is imperative that you stay alert.
[Alec and Theo both take a ring from the box.]
THEO: What, do you think I'm going to fall asleep?
They chuckle at this.
[They put on the rings and Alec starts talking through his to communicate with Theo.]
ALEC: [in Theo's head] Stranger things have happened.
THEO: Yeah. Hey, um... Look, I know you said the timing wasn't right with Magnus the other day, but... why didn't you propose?
ALEC: It's complicated.
THEO: Is that why he's not here? Look, Alec... I can feel that there's something's wrong.
ALEC: Magnus and I broke up.
JONATHAN: You did.
THEO: What? Why?
ALEC: Okay. You're gonna be late.
THEO: Alec, there's something you're not telling me. What's going on?
ALEC: Sometimes, life just doesn't go the way you want it to.
THEO: Alec...
ALEC: Please, just... go.
HAYLEY: He didn't want to tell anyone.
[Theo stops pushing Alec and leaves the office with Jonathan. He lings one moment by the door, then exits.]
THEO: Yeah. Okay.
[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]
[Luke enters the weaponry, where Izzy and Simon still are. Luke puts a bag on the table.]
LUKE: I got here as soon as I could.
ISABELLE: Where's Cleophas?
LUKE: Not gonna make it. After she helped Clary summon Ithuriel... when he died, I guess part of her died too. Though, Rose brought Ithuriel back but she wasn't able to bring back her powers.
FREYA: That means she won't be able to help them.
SIMON: So, now it's just us and a rock?
LUKE: And these...
[Luke zips open the bag he's brought and Izzy pulls out some tools.]
ISABELLE: Cleophas's tools...
LUKE: With them, she said you could forge a new sword with the same power as Glorious.
HOPE: A new sword, same as Glorious.
SIMON: Lilith said that stabbing Achatius with Glorious would sever the ties between him and Rose.
LUKE: To reforge Glorious, she said you need to mix the alloys that you extracted with molten Adamas and an angelic binding agent.
ISABELLE: What's the angelic binding agent?
LUKE: We're gonna need Jace or Clary for that. It's angel blood, and they've got Ithuriel's.
ISABELLE: Jace and Clary just left on mission.
LUKE: I guess we're gonna have to call in our pinch-hitter.
[Luke looks at Simon. Izzy suddenly realizes why.]
HOPE: They needed your blood.
SIMON: Right.
ISABELLE: That's right! You drank Jace's blood and became a Daylighter, which means you still have traces of Ithuriel's blood in your system.
SIMON: Will this involve a needle?
They laughed at this.
REBEKAH: You are a vampire and you are scared of needles?
SIMON: Yeah, I am.
[PRAGUE]
[A Portal opens in a park in Prague and Jace steps out of it. The Portal closes behind him. Achatius is suddenly behind Theo, with a dagger to Theo's throat.]
ACHATIUS: Rose made me promise not to kill you unless this is an ambush. Maybe it's my lucky day.
[Rose approaches them.]
ROSE: I'm happy to see you. But I was trained by the best, so first things first.
[Rose starts patting Theo down.]
THEO: I came with no weapons, no stele.
ROSE: He's clean. As much as I want you with me, you killed my brother once. And if it wasn't for our connection, I suspect you'd do it again.
ACHATIUS: I look forward to the re-match.
[Achatius walks back a couple steps, but still points his dagger to Theo.]
ROSE: You two and your whatever that's going on annoyed the shit out of me.
ROSE: There will be no re-match. I want both of you alive. [to Theo] If I let you come with us, how do I know I can trust you?
THEO: The Clave reinstated the kill order on Achatius. That means you too. I can't live without you, Rose. I won't. And so if that means I have to give up everything on everything I love to keep you safe... to keep you both safe... then so be it.
ACHATIUS: How touching, you're willing to put up with me as the third wheel.
THEO: Did I even mention you were going to be a third wheel, I was the one who was the third wheel.
ACHATIUS: Yeah, I know.
ROSE: [to Achatius] I would never allow him to treat you that way. [to Theo] How do I know this isn't a trick?
THEO: In your heart... you either know that I'm telling the truth, or you don't. If you don't, then leave me here.
ACHATIUS: Excellent advice. Let's go, Rose. You're a Morgenstern. You know better than this.
Kol chuckled at this.
ROSE: I also know how to make my own decisions. He's coming with us.
[SNOWY PARK]
[Magnus is still collecting his thoughts. He sees a mother with a young child on a bench, and a memory of him and Alec with Madzie comes to mind.]
[FLASHBACK]
[Magnus, Alec, and Madzie have gone out for ice cream.]
MADZIE: Can I have some sprinkles, please?
ALEC: Oh, they don't have those here, Madzie. [Magnus gives him a look.] I thought we were teaching her restraint.
MAGNUS: I know, I know, but... that face. [kneels by Madzie] All right, sweet pea.
[Madzie uses her magic to make sprinkles appear on her ice cream. She takes a lick and gets ice cream on her face. Magnus wipes it off with a smile.]
ALEC: You know, you're gonna be a hell of a dad. [Magnus rises.] What? You don't think so?
ROSE: You two will be great parents.
MAGNUS: Well, to be honest, I've never even considered it.
ALEC: Why not?
MAGNUS: My father's a Prince of Hell. He's not exactly a good role model.
ALEC: Well, my dad's not perfect either. And look at us! We both turned out pretty okay.
MAGNUS: So, one can be a horrible parent without messing up their kids?
ALEC: Anything's possible... Besides, when it comes to having a family... you wouldn't be doing it alone.
They smiled at this.
[PRESENT]
[Shot of Magnus who continues walking through the park.]
[PRAGUE, ACHATIUS' APARTMENT]
[Theo is in the dining room looking through the window at the city. When he turns around, Achatius throws him a jacket.]
ACHATIUS: Cover what runes you can. Where we're going, Shadowhunters aren't appreciated.
THEO: Right... And where exactly is that? Clearly, we're in Prague. A soldier's more effective with details. Did your mommy not teach you that?
KOL: Oh god, you two could rip out each other's throat at any moment.
ROSE: Totally, agreed, Kol.
ACHATIUS: You'll be filled in on a need-to-know basis. And while we're at it, I know you're here to get rid of me, brother. And the second you slip, I'll prove it. And then, it'll be just me and Rose. The way it's meant to be.
[Rose enters the room.]
ROSE: Are my two favourite boys playing nice?
THEO: So far.
[Achatius takes a better look at Rose, which makes Theo turn around to see her as well.]
ROSE: I dress to kill. [showing a hidden dagger in her boot] Only if the need arises.
ACHATIUS: Shall we?
[Achatius and Rose head for the door, but Theo calls after Rose.]
THEO: Rose... Maybe you'd like to tell me what the plan is for obtaining Morning Star.
ROSE: Achatius didn't tell you? We are going to kidnap the Seelie Queen.
[JADE WOLF]
[Raphael is talking with Jordan and Maia in a booth.]
RAPHAEL: For the first time in 80 years, I was able to attend morning mass. I sat in the sun and planted flowers at my sister's grave... Oh, and you know that bakery that invented cronuts? I stood in line today. Amazing.
BONNIE: He was so happy.
JORDAN: This is incredible.
MAIA: Sure. If you ignore the fact that Aldertree tried to neutralize all of us without our consent.
JORDAN: I agree that was unconscionable. But Aldertree's been stopped. Think about what this means. The life you used to have, all those times you wished you could have it back. For the first time ever, it's actually possible.
RAPHAEL: Yeah, I'm... I'm not so sure about that.
MAIA: What are you talking about? If the serum worked on you, why wouldn't it work on us?
RAPHAEL: To stop Aldertree, we had to destroy all the serum. It's gone... except for a few vials.
[Maia leans in.]
MAIA: Well, where are those vials?
KEELIN: In the Institute
[THE INSTITUTE, INFIRMARY]
[Simon is sitting in a bed, Izzy is preparing him for the extraction of his blood.]
SIMON: As, um, someone who stuck his fangs in your arm, I know it's a bit hypocritical to ask, but, um... how big... [Izzy pulls out the needle.] That's big.
They tried not to laugh at this.
ISABELLE: Just don't think about the needle. Imagine... you're Superman. And Clary is Lois Lane. And you're gonna reverse the Earth's rotation to turn back time and save her.
SIMON: You watched Superman?! When did this world-shattering event happen?
They laughed their ass off at this scene. Kol had fallen of his seat.
ISABELLE: Well, you always go on about how great these superhero movies are. So, I wanted to see what the fuss was about.
SIMON: And? What'd you think?
ISABELLE: Just because Clark Kent had glasses, she couldn't tell he was the same guy? If I was Lois, I would have totally known.
SIMON: See, that's the fun in it, though. The hot girl doesn't see the geeky guy with glasses, until the hot girl realizes that the geeky guy is totally awesome if she just saw him for who he really is.
[Izzy thinks about that with a smile.]
ISABELLE: I guess Lois just needed some time to see what was right in front of her.
CAROLINE: You were talking about Louis or yourself.
[Izzy takes off the band around Simon's arm.]
SIMON: What?! Are we done?
ISABELLE: We are.
[Izzy shows Simon the vial of his blood. They both smile.]
[PRAGUE]
[It's night time. The trio is walking through the streets of Prague.]
ROSE: I've always heard how beautiful Prague is. It's like a storybook.
THEO: We'll have to come back. I'll take you for a boat ride on the river.
ROSE: Sounds like a plan.
[Achatius clears his throat.]
ACHATIUS: Ahem... We're here.
THEO: Clearly the bouncer isn't happy about it.
ROSE: What's Kosti Lustr?
ACHATIUS: It means Bone Chandelier. The Queen's favourite hangout, for Downworlders only. Wait here. I'll work my connections to get us inside. [to Theo] I'm watching you.
Rose rolls her eyes.
KOL: Again.
[Achatius goes to the bouncer.]
ROSE: [to Theo] Just... give him time. Once he trusts you, he's like a puppy. All he wants is love. I have to go help my lover boy sweet-talk us inside.
ACHATIUS: I am not a lovesick puppy.
THEO: You are.
Achatius glared at Theo. Rose just sighed.
[Rose goes over to Achatius and the bouncer. Alec's voice echoes through Theo's head as he communicates through the Seelie ring.]
ALEC: [in Theo's head] Theo, you there?
THEO: [in Alec's head] Yeah.
ALEC: [in Theo's head] Isabelle is working as fast as she can to get Glorious re-forged. Where are you in Prague?
THEO: [in Alec's head] Some club called the Bone Chandelier.
[Cut to the Ops Center in the Institute. Luke is with Alec.]
ALEC: The Bone Chandelier?
[Alec presses some buttons on the screen to figure out where Jace is.]
LUKE: Right before the Uprising, I led a raid there to bring in some Seelie mercenaries. Security's tight. But if we need to find a way in, I can find it. Theo, how's Rose?
[Cut to Prague.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] So far so good. But things could get messy here. The plan is to kidnap the Seelie Queen as a bargaining chip to acquire Morning Star.
[Cut to the Institute.]
ALEC: Are you kidding me? Is Achatius trying to get you all killed?
KOL: You for sure.
THEO: [in Alec's head] Yeah, well, me for sure. Apparently, the Queen comes to this club once a month to party with her fellow Downworlders.
[Cut to Prague.]
ALEC: [in Theo's head] If we warn her, it'll blow your cover. Our best tactic right now is to get Glorious ready and then make our move.
[Theo sees a Seelie with a blue mark entering the club.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] The sooner the better. I just spotted a Seelie with a blue sigil mark.
[Cut to the Institute.]
ALEC: One of the Queen's elite guard. [cut to Prague] [in Theo's head] Just watch your step. They won't hesitate to kill you, Achatius or Rose.
THEO: [in Alec's head] Yeah, I'll do my best.
[STREETS]

ALEC: [in flashback] Maybe we're too...
MAGNUS: [in flashback] Different?
[Shot of them in bed. Them falling on the bed. Them with Madzie. All memories are flashes now.]
[PROMENADE]
[Magnus approaches the Silent Brother Zachariah, who's standing by the waterside. Zachariah speaks to Magnus with his mind.]
MAGNUS: Brother Zachariah.
ZACHARIAH: You said you were in desperate need of my help.
MAGNUS: I am.
ZACHARIAH: What is it, Magnus?
MAGNUS: I need you to erase all my memories of Alec.
HAYLEY: You weren't going to erase your memories.
MAGNUS: Should I take your silence to mean you won't help me?
[Zachariah now speaks out loud.]
ZACHARIAH: No, my dear friend. I will always be here for you.
They were shocked.
JACE: Is he...
HOPE: Speaking? Yes.
MAGNUS: You're speaking...
ZACHARIAH: Some words are too important not to be spoken aloud. Magnus... you've lost great loves before. As have I. And as painful as those memories may be, they are a part of who we are.
MAGNUS: I know. But Alec is different. Losing him, it... It's breaking me.
ZACHARIAH: I owe you my life, and I would do anything to help you. For that very reason, I must refuse your request.
MAGNUS: How is that helping? I can't do this on my own!
ZACHARIAH: You can. Pull the memories from your mind and send them to oblivion. You have the magic. You simply don't have the heart. Because deep down, you know you'll regret it.
MAGNUS: I don't know what else to do.
[Magnus starts walking away.]
ZACHARIAH: Magnus! If erasing Alec from your life is truly what you want... you'll find the strength to do it on your own.
FINN: He definitely gave some good advice.
[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]
[Maia and Jordan enter the weaponry where Izzy and Simon are. A Shadowhunter, Lindsay, has followed them in.]
MAIA: Simon, I need to talk to you.
LINDSAY: [to Izzy] I know you said no interruptions, but they insisted it was urgent.
[Lindsay then leaves.]
MAIA: The serum that made Raphael a mundane, he said there was some left and... [pointing to the vial] is it in there?
SIMON: Don't touch that!
ISABELLE: The serum is not there. I'm making a special sword to save Rose from Achatius.
MAIA: I thought you already captured Achatius. He's got Rose?
SIMON: It's a bit of a long story, but bottom line, if we don't get to her soon, it... Look, I... I'll talk to you about the serum later. I promise.
JORDAN: Wait, so there is some left?
SIMON: Yes. After the extraction for the sword for Rose, there's only one vial.
STEFAN: Just one.
JORDAN: Just one?
ISABELLE: Unfortunately. And as you can imagine, deciding who gets it is a political minefield.
MAIA: Are you saying no one's going to be able to get it?
SIMON: She's saying it's complicated.
MAIA: I don't understand. Why did you have to destroy all of it? Was that really the only option? You've robbed every Downworlder of a second chance at a mundane life!
KEELIN: What she was saying was right but stuff could have been in wrong hands. It's best that it got destroyed.
SIMON: [frustrated] Look, We didn't have a choice! Okay? Believe me... I get wanting to go back. I almost killed my sister and I had to make my mom believe that I was dead! [calmly] We all had lives that have been destroyed. I'm just trying to save Rose's.
[Maia can't believe what she's hearing. She exits, angry and frustrated.]
[PRAGUE, THE BONE CHANDELIER]
[The trio in Prague enters the club. There is loud music playing and lights are shining over the crowd. Rose and Theo look up at the chandelier, that is indeed made of bones.]
HOPE: The name is very litteral.
LOUIS: It is made of bones.
THEO: Nice chandelier.
ROSE: Whose bones are those?
ACHATIUS: Shadowhunters... Stick with me, love. You won't become part of the decor.
THEO: [looking at one of the Seelies] Unless that Seelie sees you. The blue sigil mark means he's part of the Queen's security detail. Probably best we don't buy him a drink.
ROSE: See? I told you he'd be an asset.
[They go up to the bar.]
ACHATIUS: Evening, Sunaite. The regular, three shots. [to Theo and Rose] All right. The Queen will arrive shortly. She'll be seated at her favourite table. Our opportunity arises when her head knight takes her upstairs for a rendez-vous with her new warlock lover.
ELENA: She is dating a warlock, now.
ROSE: That's when she'll be vulnerable. Theo and I will take out the knight.
ACHATIUS: I grab the Queen, Rose Portals the three of us away.
KOL: He was going to leave you there, to die.
THEO: The four of us. Including the Queen.
ACHATIUS: Yeah, of course. That's what I meant.
[The music beat drops and the crowd starts cheering. Drops of a mysterious liquid fall from the sky.]
JEREMY: What is this?
THEO: Seelie booze.
ROSE: What's going on? What is this stuff?
THEO: It's clearly some kind of Seelie drug. Don't take it.
ROSE: Oh, right, I recognize it now.
ACHATIUS: Ah, surely you're not against having a little fun?
[Rose looks up and opens her mouth. A drop falls onto her tongue.]
ROSE: I should have never taken it.
THEO: You should never even touch alcohol, the drunk you is clearly someone else.
ROSE: Really?
ACHATIUS: I agree.
ROSE: You too!
THEO: [to Rose] No!
[Achatius laughs as Rose walks away to go dancing.]
ACHATIUS: What's wrong? You know, all work and no play makes Theo a dull boy.
THEO: We are on mission. We need to stay focused.
ACHATIUS: Are you worried about everyone? Or just you? Prove it.
THEO: I am not worried about myself, I have taken this stuff many times, remember, I dated Seelie Queen?
ACHATIUS: How could I forget?
[Achatius tilts his head and a drop falls onto his tongue as well. He downs his shot to swallow the drop. Theo eventually tilts his back head as well and takes a drop of the Seelie drug.]
THEO: Happy now?
ACHATIUS: Ecstatic.
[Achatius leaves Theo standing there. Theo blinks a couple of times, he's clearly feeling the effects of the drug already.]
[Theo is walking through the club. Lights are flashing before him. He can't focus. He decides to communicate with Alec through the Seelie rings.]
DAMON: You were already high.
THEO: Bloody hell, I am really out of habit.
THEO: [in Alec's head] Alec, I need help.
[Cut to Alec in his Institute office.]
ALEC: Theo, talk to me.
[Cut to Prague.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] I don't have my stele and I... I can't focus enough to activate my Iratze.
[Cut to the Institute.]
ALEC: Are you hurt?
[Cut to Prague.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] I...
ALEC: [in Theo's head] Theo, what's going on? I need you to focus.
THEO: [in Alec's head] I must've ingested a Seelie hallucinogen. It's a silver liquid, bitter.
[Cut to the Institute.]
ALEC: Are you able to stay alert?
[Cut to Prague.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] I'm trying...
[Cut to the Institute.]
ALEC: Theo? Theo, can you hear me?
THEO: [in Alec's head] Alec...
ALEC: Glorious isn't ready yet. We're gonna Portal in and try and capture Achatius and Rose.
DAVINA: Then, you will loose Rose.
[Cut to Prague.]
THEO: [in Alec's head] No! No! If we make a move before we have Glorious, we'll lose Rose for good. I can hang in on my end. Just get here with that sword!
[Cut to the office, where Alec rushes out to find Izzy with the vial. Cut back to Prague. Theo is dizzy, he turns and turns and then Rose appears in front of Achatius.]
ROSE: You think you're gonna get away with this? Dance floor. Now.
[Rose takes Theo's hand and pulls him to the floor. They start dancing, and then kiss passionately. Rose goes down for a moment.]
Klaus was total jealous. Rose was blushing, now.
ACHATIUS: Wait... What are you doing?
ROSE: You can tell me to stop whenever you want... but you won't.
[Rose and Achatius kiss again. Theo watches them from a distance. In the midst of a kiss, Achatius sees a ring appearing on Theo's finger. Theo sees Achatius' hand go down Rose's back. Before Theo can step in, he sees the Seelie Queen enter the club. Theo goes to the kissing couple on the dance floor and activates both their iratzes with his stele.]
THEO: Sorry to interrupt the fun, but Her Highness is here.
ACHATIUS: It's time to get what we came for.
THEO: Yes, it is.
[JADE WOLF]
[Jordan and Maia enter the restaurant.]
JORDAN: Not a word all the way back from the Institute. You know... what Simon said, he didn't mean to take away all your hope.
MAIA: But he's right. I'm not the only one whose mundane life fell to pieces. There are so many of us. And if there's only one vial of that serum left, I don't deserve it more than anyone else. [pause] You hungry? I'm not the greatest cook, but microwaving frozen wontons shouldn't be too difficult.
[Maia goes to the kitchen. Jordan sits down at a table and takes out something from his pocket. It's the last vial.]
STEFAN: He stole it.
[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]
[Izzy is reforging Glorious. She pours the vial into the liquid that is about to become the metal for the sword. The liquid sizzles as she pours it into the mold. Alec, Luke and Simon are all waiting while the liquid hardens.]
ALEC: Did it work?
ISABELLE: We're about to find out. Stand back. If this works the way Cleophas described...
LUKE: The hammer will activate the Heavenly Fire.
ISABELLE: And I'd prefer not to fry any Downworlders.
[Simon nods and he and Luke step back out of the room. Izzy starts banging on the sword with her hammer. After a couple of hits, a flash of light emerges from the sword. And a line of fire appears on the sword. Simon and Luke peek around the corner to see Izzy pick up the flaming sword.]
KLAUS: You forged the sword.
SIMON: You did it.
[PRAGUE, THE BONE CHANDELIER]
[The Seelie Queen is sitting amongst her folk.]
SEELIE QUEEN: Is my warlock upstairs?
SEELIE KNIGHT: He is, milady.
[The knight holds out his arm, and the Queen rises.]
ACHATIUS: That's us.
[Achatius, Rose, and Theo start to follow the Queen and her knight.]
THEO: Not to question your lover's strategy, but it might be nice to have something before I take out a Seelie-
[Suddenly, a dagger appears in Theo's hand.]
ROSE: He made me promise not to arm you until the last second.
[Rose continues walking while Achatius approaches Rose after a talk with a Seelie. A group of Seelies starts going after Theo.]
ROSE: What's going on? Why are they going after Theo?
ACHATIUS: Because he's a traitor. He's been using a Seelie ring to foil our plan.
HOPE: Now, you both know.
ROSE: No...
[Theo is surrounded by Seelie guards who have their spears pointed at him.]
GUARD: You're not going anywhere.
ACHATIUS: [to Rose] This is our chance to get to the Queen. To get your family sword! Who do you trust? Me or Theo?
[Theo starts fighting off the Seelie knights.]
ACHATIUS: Rose, stick to the plan!
ROSE: I can't let him die!
ACHATIUS: I swear to you, he is against us, not with us!
[Theo continues to fight.]
ROSE: Theo!
FINN: You weren't going to let him die.
[Theo succeeds in killing some of the Seelies. Rose runs to him and helps fight off the Seelie knights. She also manages to kill a couple. Meanwhile, Achatius has gone to the Queen. She has noticed him only just then.]
SEELIE QUEEN: It's a distraction!
[The knight that was about to bring the Queen upstairs defends the Queen by attacking Achatius. But Achatius' moves are better, and he quickly disarms the knight and kills him. The Queen snarls and runs towards Achatius, but he takes her in a hold. She bites his arm, but he still manages to keep her captive.]
ACHATIUS: Rose, we've gotta go! Now!
[Rose pushes her dagger against Theo's chest.]
Rose: Achatius says you're wearing a Seelie ring. [she pulls the ring from his finger and holds it up to him] Are you trying to take me away from Achatius?
THEO: Hey! Hey! Listen to me! I'm trying to save you! This isn't who you are, Rose! Come home with me!
ROSE: This is who I am. You try and take me from Achatius again... I will end you!
[Rose punches Theo in the face and he falls to the ground. She then draws a rune in the air to create a Portal, and throws Theo through it.]
KOL: You sent him back to the Institue.
[THE INSTITUTE, HALLWAY]
[In the hallway, a Portal opens, and Theo flies out. He slides over the tiles. Alec immediately walks up to him.]
ALEC: Theo! Theo, what happened? Where's Rose?
[Alec helps Theo up. Theo's eyes are filled with tears.]
THEO: I lost her.
[PROMENADE]
[Magnus is trying to get rid of his memories with Alec. His hands are covering his ears. He releases all the memories and they start circling around him. Voices present in the memories echo in his head. He snaps his fingers and balls of crackling fire come out of his hands. He's about to destroy his memories when he hears a voice.]
ASMODEUS: I gave back your magic... so you'd be strong. Not weak.
[Magnus throws the fire ball on the ground.]
MAGNUS: Leave me alone. I'm in enough pain without you causing me more.
[Magnus creates more fire balls.]
ASMODEUS: Pain is the path to enlightenment. I know... because losing you is what made me realize that my son's love is all that matters to me.
[The fire balls go out again.]
MAGNUS: Don't pretend to care about me! You never have! You never will.
ASMODEUS: If that were true, I'd let you make this mistake instead of trying to stop you. [They both watch the memories in front of them.] This Shadowhunter you loved... the heartache you're feeling, fight through it! No matter how painful, those memories... will make you wiser. Stronger.
[Magnus sniffles, then inhales deeply. He lets the memories in his head again. Tears come down Magnus' face.]
ASMODEUS: I'm here for you, my son. I'm here.
[Asmodeus wraps his arms around his son. They hug.]
CAROLINE: You were definitely not going to trust your father. He is the worst dad I have ever seen.
