[Nighttime. There's a chique party going on. Heidi enters the room and raises her glass.]
HEIDI: Excuse me, I'd like to make a toast. Everyone in this room should be proud. Proud to call yourself a vampire. If that makes people afraid, then let them be afraid.
Simon scoffed at this.
[Cut to a bedroom, where Raphael is sitting on his knees next to the bed. He makes a cross with holy water. Heidi's voice continues off screen.]
HEIDI: We should never, ever be ashamed of who we are. [Cut to Simon standing by a fence, waiting.] The days of being locked out are over. If they don't let us in, then we break down the door. [Cut to the Jade Wolf surrounded by police. Zoom in on Griffin, standing behind police tape.] Anyone who stands in our way will face the consequences.
[Cut to inside the Jade Wolf. The police is examining the scene. Lt. Dwyer speaks to Detective Greer.]
DWYER: Is that silver?
GREER: Looks like it.
[Heidi continues her speech off screen.]
HEIDI: The Downworld is ours for the taking. [Cut to Heidi.] The Shadowhunters have had their day in the sun, but our night has come. It's our time to rule. To the Night Children!
[Heidi raises her glass, everyone in the room does so too.]
ALL: To the Night Children!
[Everyone then goes back to mingling, Griffin enters the lounge.]
GRIFFIN: Heidi.
HEIDI: [approaching him] Griffin.
GRIFFIN: We've got a problem. The Praetor and his girlfriend have gone missing.
HEIDI: Okay, so?
GRIFFIN: So, there are witnesses now. We broke the Accords. The Shadowhunters will be gunning for us.
HEIDI: [sighs] Sweetheart, those Accords, they are in place to keep vampires in the shadows. Things are going to be different now. It's a new world.
CAROLINE: The world would be lot better without people like her.
[INTRO IS SHOWN]
Rosaline opens her eyes and flashes her alpha eyes who had golden hue. She swings her katanas and fearless rune is showed. Achatius is standing in Edom and his eyes turn black and white wings appear behind his back. Theodore's magical bow appears and he stretches its string forming the strength rune. Jonathan is shown showing his demon eyes and his seraph blade appears. He cuts the air and flexibility rune is show. Clary is seen blowing the candles on her birthday cake forming the angelic rune. Jace is seen jumping from a building with eagles surrounding him. He jumps on the ground splashing the water which forms heightened speed rune. Alec is seen a room with healing rune drawn on one of the walls. He aims his arrow. Isabelle is now shown swinging her blade forming the parabatai rune. Simon is seen wiping the blood on his lips in hotel de mort. The whole background turns black and white. Luke is seen with a wall behind him covered with runes and wolves. Magnus is drinking his cocktail. Scene splits and shows Theo and Rose using their magic and flashing their golden red eyes. Achatius hands have sparkles dancing. Then all the runes are shown burning and Rosaline, Theo, Clary, Jace, Jonathan, Alec and Isabelle are shown walking and the title Shadowhunter appears with The Mortal Instruments written below. And the screen turns black.
[TITLE SCREEN]
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S BEDROOM]
[Magnus wakes up to a platter with a flower and OJ in bed. Alec is just putting on a shirt.]
ALEC: Sleep okay?
MAGNUS: Like a rock. [noticing OJ and taking the glass] Oh. Freshly squeezed orange juice. And a full glass.
ALEC: One of the perks of living at the Institute. [Magnus takes a sip.] But, come on, get out of bed. Breakfast stops serving at 9 A.M.
MAGNUS: Alexander, I appreciate the hospitality, but doesn't the Clave have rules against Downworlders living here?
ALEC: Oh, they're not rules. They're suggestions. [Magnus pulls a face.] What? You're not living at the Institute. You're just visiting for an extended period of time.
MAGNUS: And what would your fellow Shadowhunters think of a warlock wandering the halls?
ALEC: They'd be fine with it. Let's go.
KOL: I don't think so.
[THE INSTITUTE, CAFETERIA]
[The cafeteria is busy for breakfast. Clary, Rose, Theo, Jonathan and Jace are sitting at a table, Rose is not really eating anything.]
CLARY: Rose. What happened with Achatius wasn't your fault.
ROSE: He's still in New York, Clary. I can feel it.
JACE: We have patrols canvassing the entire city.
JONATHAN: If he's still here, we'll find him. I promise.
[Izzy sits down next to Jace with a plate full of food.]
CLARY: Izzy, hey.
ROSE: What's up?
ISABELLE: Ugh, I'm so hungry.
THEO: Where have you been all morning?
ISABELLE: So, I found a data chip inside Greenlaw's stomach. But it's highly encrypted. It's going to take me some time to crack.
HAYLEY: It was something important.
[Izzy steals a piece of bacon from Jace's plate.]
JONATHAN: Let us know.
JACE: Hands off my bacon.
ISABELLE: Guess you need to guard your food better.
[Alec and Magnus enter the cafeteria, especially Magnus gets a lot of looks from the Shadowhunters.]
KOL: You were getting a lot of looks.
MAGNUS: You know it's not too late to go out for breakfast, right?
ALEC: And miss pancake day? No way.
[Magnus follows Alec reluctantly to their friends' table. Shadowhunters stop their conversations and stare at Magnus as he walks by. Alec and Magnus sit down at the table.]
JACE: Hey.
ALEC: Hey.
THEO: Magnus, what are you doing here?
MAGNUS: Uh, where do I start? I just moved out of my apartment, but unfortunately, my real estate agent died a few hundred years ago, so finding a new place has been a bit of a struggle.
THEO: You are very good at lying, Magnus.
ALEC: In the meantime, he's going to be living with us for a little while.
ROSE: Wow.
CLARY: That's great.
JACE: Absolutely.
ISABELLE: [raising her glass] Welcome to the Institute, Magnus.
MAGNUS: Glad to be here.
[Izzy takes a sip, but Magnus does not and looks at the other Shadowhunters still staring.]
ALEC: [to Magnus] It's not you. It's just, they don't see a lot of warlocks in here.
[Magnus takes a pancake on his plate and throws it back on the plate again.]
MAGNUS: I can see why.
[Magnus snaps his finger and transforms the cafeteria breakfast into something more fancy. Because of the magic use, Magnus gets a ringing in his head that stops after a few seconds. Clary's phone vibrates, she picks it up.]
LOUIS: Something, I know. The food at the Institute is garbage.
CLARY: Hello?
[Cut to Luke, zoomed in, with a phone in his hand. Cut to who's talking.]
LUKE: Clary.
CLARY: Luke. Whose number is this?
LUKE: It's the precinct's.
CLARY: They give you your badge back?
LUKE: Not exactly. The vampires attacked the Jade Wolf. And they killed most of the pack.
CLARY: Oh, my God.
LUKE: And the police think that I did it.
CLARY: Luke...
LUKE: There's no time to explain. I need you to tell the Shadowhunters what happened. [there's a knock on the interrogation room] I gotta go. Don't worry about me, kiddo. I love you.
CLARY: But, Luke, what about Maia?
[Luke hangs up. Jace sees Clary's worried face.]
JACE: What is it? What happened?
[NYPD, INTERROGATION ROOM]
[Lt. Dwyer enters the room.]
DWYER: I hope that was your lawyer.
LUKE: I told you, I don't need a lawyer. I'm pleading guilty.
TYLER: You didn't want them involved in Shadow World business.
[Dwyer sits down across from Luke.]
DWYER: Luke... I know you're not a murderer, but I can't help you if you won't talk to me. Come on. Give me something, anything.
LUKE: I don't know what to tell you.
DWYER: Normally, I can't get you to shut up. Remember when those damn squirrels got in the wall? The captain was gonna call pest control to deal with them, and you reached in there and you pulled 'em out, one by one.
ROSE: Oh my god, you did that.
Luke nods.
LUKE: Those squirrels. They scratched the hell out of me.
[Dwyer chuckles.]
DWYER: But you saved 'em anyway. [pause] Who are you trying to protect?
LUKE: Nobody. I need to face the consequences of my actions.
DWYER: It's not gonna be a slap on the wrist. They're gonna put you away for a long time. And we both know ex-cops don't fare too well in prison.
LUKE: I'll take my chances.
[SIMON'S VAN]
[Simon and Maia are on the road, driving back from the Praetor where they dropped Jordan off.]
SIMON: When was the last time you slept?
MAIA: I don't know.
SIMON: Now that we know that Jordan's gonna be okay, you should get some rest. I'll wake you back up when we get to Queens.
MAIA: Every time I close my eyes, I'm back at the Jade Wolf. The floor's soaked in blood and my friends butchered right in front of me.
KEELIN: I know that feel.
SIMON: I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
MAIA: I can't even believe that it's real. I keep hoping that I'll wake up from this nightmare, but it's not going to happen. They're gone.
SIMON: Maia.
MAIA: They were the only family I ever had and that bloodsucking bitch took them from me. Heidi has to pay.
CAROLINE: She has to.
SIMON: She will. I promise.
MAIA: I'll kill her myself if I have to.
SIMON: It won't come to that. I'm sure the Shadowhunters are already bringing her in.
MAIA: Then get off here. Take the Queensboro into Manhattan.
SIMON: Into the city? I thought we were going back home.
MAIA: I don't have a home, not anymore. I want to be there when they take Heidi into the Institute.
SIMON: Let's do it.
[Simon takes the turn.]
[THE INSTITUTE]
[Izzy enters the Ops Center where Alec, Jonathan and Theo are standing at a table.]
ISABELLE: Hey.
ALEC: Any survivors?
ISABELLE: I searched the entire area around the Jade Wolf. I couldn't find anyone.
THEO: What about Maia?
REBEKAH: They did not know she was alive.
ISABELLE: She's not among the dead. There's no sign of her.
JONATHAN: Vampires killing werewolves.
ALEC: This is how wars start, Izzy.
THEO: You have a point, brother.
[Underhill enters with Heidi by his side.]
DAVINA: What was she doing here?
ISABELLE: What the hell is she doing here?
UNDERHILL: She said she had information.
ALEC: We're listening.
HEIDI: I know who massacred those werewolves.
STEFAN: She was playing from both sides.
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]
[Heidi is sitting on the couch, Alec, Theo, Jonathan and Izzy are standing across from her.]
ALEC: Why are you so willing to turn on your own clan?
HEIDI: Well, they're not my clan, not really. I heard them talking about an attack on the wolves, and I never thought they would actually do it. And now, I couldn't live with myself if I didn't say something.
CAROLINE: I can't believe her.
ISABELLE: How do you live with yourself, knowing you murdered that tech at the blood truck?
HEIDI: I couldn't. That's why I brought him back to life. Because I felt terrible. I...
ISABELLE: What about Praetor Nick?
HEIDI: You don't understand what it's like to be drained of blood, murdered, and then to wake up days later and you have no idea where you are. You feel like an animal. Alone, and so thirsty. And I just couldn't control myself.
BONNIE: Don't tell me you believed her?
[Alec and Theo look at Izzy.]
ISABELLE: Oh, tell me you both don't believe her. She held Simon's family hostage.
[Jonathan gives 'I don't trust her' look. Isabelle gives him a 'thank you' look.]
HEIDI: I know. I still feel so terrible about that. Lilith is the one who talked me into that. I was actually getting better at the Praetor until your blond friend kidnapped me.
DAMON: Jace.
THEO: Jace...
HEIDI: Can I please get another chance? Look, I am not saying that I'm a Girl Scout. I just thought that... I hoped that you could forgive me.
KEELIN: She doesn't deserve forgiveness.
ISABELLE: Never gonna happen.
HEIDI: Why? You forgave Raphael.
FINN: She revealed the truth about that vampire.
ALEC: What?
JONATHAN: What about Raphael?
HEIDI: She didn't tell you? Raphael is the one that brought me back. He kept me locked in the DuMort to run experiments on me. He tortured me for days and then your sister just let him go.
THEO: [to Izzy] Is this true?
ISABELLE: Theo, Alec, it's not that simple.
HEIDI: Sorry, I didn't come here to start a fight. I just want to help.
ALEC: If we give you a clean slate, will you ID the vampires who attacked the Jade Wolf?
KEELIN: Tell, me you didn't forgive her.
ALEC: I had no choice at that matter.
HEIDI: It would be my honor.
[Izzy sighs.]
[NYPD, INTERROGATION ROOM]
[Clary, Rose and Jace are glamoured, invisible for humans. Luke can see them however. When Dwyer opens the door the Shadowhunters quickly enter.]
ELENA: You came there.
DWYER: Your transport's on its way here. You want something to drink?
LUKE: I'm good. [Dwyer exits.] [to Clary] I thought I told you not to come here.
ROSE: And let you end up in prison?
LUKE: If I take the fall for this, this investigation ends with me. If the police keep looking around, there's no telling how many lives could be in danger.
THEO: And what about yours.
JACE: There is another way, Luke.
CLARY: We're gonna have Simon encanto the lieutenant. Call it all off.
LUKE: Simon can't encanto the entire NYPD. You saw what happened with Ollie. I told her about the Shadow World and people died because of it. I'm not going to let that happen again.
ROSE: So, you're just gonna take the punishment for someone else's crime?
CLARY: Luke, you don't deserve that.
LUKE: Actually, I do. I left my pack.
HAYLEY: Well, that doesn't mean that you have to spend your life in jail.
CLARY: You had no choice.
LUKE: No, you always have choices, Clary. If I'd been at the Jade Wolf when the vampires attacked, maybe things would've ended differently.
ELIJAH: Maybe, you would have dies too.
ROSE: Yeah, maybe we would have lost you, too.
JACE: Luke, you cannot blame yourself for what happened to the pack.
LUKE: They trusted me and I abandoned them.
CLARY: So now you're just gonna abandon us?
[Clary and Rose have tears in her eyes.]
LUKE: Clary, Rose, you know that I will always love you.
CLARY: [crying] Then don't leave us. Please, Luke. Please, not now.
ROSE: Not... when we need our dad.
Luke smiled as Calry and Rose called him dad.
LUKE: I'm sorry, kiddo.
[THE INSTITUTE, WEAPONRY]
[Alec, Izzy, Theo, Jonathan and more Shadowhunters are getting ready for battle against the vampires.]
ALEC: All right. This whole situation started because the last time somebody tried to raid the DuMort, a vampire was assaulted. We cannot afford to let that happen again. So I want this done by the book.
UNDERHILL: [in a low voice to another Shadowhunter] Great, now he wants things done by the book.
ISABELLE: You've been equipped with special tech, holy water. I've diluted it to be non-lethal, but it still packs a punch.
THEO: Any questions? [no response] Good. May the Angel be with you.
[The Shadowhunters move out. Izzy is about to go with them, but Alec and Theo call after her.]
ALEC: Hold up. You're not going.
ISABELLE: What?
THEO: You should have told us about Raphael.
ISABELLE: I know. Look, Alec, Raphael is not a bad person.
THEO: I know.
ISABELLE: He just made a horrible mistake.
ALEC: He committed a gross violation of the Accords.
ISABELLE: He's trying to turn his life around.
JACE: But that doesn't justify what he did.
THEO: But it doesn't change what he did.
ISABELLE: [thinks about it] You're right. Get me a Portal to Detroit. I'll bring Raphael in myself.
ALEC: I already have a team standing by to back you up.
ISABELLE: No backup. I need to do this on my own.
[Alec nods. Izzy leaves with a set of handcuffs.]
[THE INSTITUTE, OPS CENTER]
[Aline approaches Jace in the Ops Center.]
ALINE: Yo, Herondale.
DAMON: Wasn't that the cousin of blondie slayer?
ROSE: Yeah, she was Aline.
[They hug.]
JACE: Aline, hey. It's good to see you. What are you doing in New York?
ALINE: Hunting Achatius.
JACE: Yeah, aren't we all?
ALINE: According to the field reports, you almost captured him yesterday.
JACE: Yeah, almost.
ALINE: If it wasn't for the no-kill order, you would have stopped him once and for all.
JACE: Well, it's not just an order, you know. Until we get that rune off of Rose, we can't hurt one without hurting the other.
ALINE: I understand, but we have no hope of defeating the bastard if we have to keep treating him with kid gloves.
JACE: We don't have a choice.
ALINE: That's not true. It's like the same time with Jonathan. After what he did to my cousin... you left him without an punishment and welcomed him as your own.
JONATHAN: Definitely, didn't expected her to welcome me with open arms.
JACE: Aline, it was your mother who pardoned Jonathan of his crimes. I am not saying he wasn't at fault but he wasn't in the right state of mind. And about Achatius, believe me, no one wants to rip Achatius' throat out more than me. But I'm not going to let anyone hurt Rose.
ALINE: Then what do you suggest we do? How many more Shadowhunters have to die trying to capture him? Exactly how many lives is Rose worth?
JACE: To me, she's worth everything. And I'm pretty sure Jia would agree. If it wasn't for Rose, Valentine would have murdered your mother at the Gard. You both owe her.
Rose smiled at this.
[THE INSTITUTE, CELLS]
[Alec, Theo and Jonathan are interrogating some vampires.]
ALEC: We know you led the attack on the Jade Wolf.
GRIFFIN: Says who?
JOSHUA: You can't prove anything.
[Maia and Simon enter; Alec, Theo, Jonathan and Izzy turn around in surprise. Maia's determined to punish the vampires.]
CAROLINE: Finally, she came.
MAIA: I can.
THEO: You're alive.
MAIA: No thanks to him. I saw him cut Russell's throat myself.
ALEC: Take them with the others.
[Another Shadowhunters takes the vampires away.]
JONATHAN: Maia, I'm sorry for your loss.
MAIA: [angry, confused] Where's Heidi?
ALEC: She wasn't one of the killers, was she?
MAIA: No.
THEO: She's the one who brought them in.
SIMON: We're talking about the same Heidi, right?
MAIA: She would never do that. Not unless she was getting something out of it.
BONNIE: She was getting a clean chit.
ALEC: I did agree to exonerate her for her past crimes.
SIMON: You're kidding me, right?
ALEC: Look, tensions between the vampires and the werewolves are higher than they've ever been. I had to bring the killers into custody in order to prevent an all-out war.
MAIA: That doesn't mean you needed to let Heidi off the hook. I could have ID'd them myself.
THEO: For all we knew, you were dead.
ALEC: You should've called me.
MAIA: I was busy making sure that Jordan wasn't gonna die. Luke told us that he was gonna handle it.
SIMON: So, you're just letting Heidi go, then? That's your plan?
ALEC: Look, I know how you guys must feel.
MAIA: No, I don't think that you do. It's my pack that got slaughtered.
ALEC: Heidi wasn't there. Those vampires were. You said that yourself.
MAIA: But they were carrying out Heidi's plans. Jordan said that she planned the whole thing.
JONATHAN: Can you prove that?
[Maia is quiet. Simon suddenly realizes something.]
SIMON: I think I know someone who can.
HOPE: The girl, who she encantoed.
[THE INSTITUTE, OPS CENTER]
[Underhill is entering Magnus' personal data into the system. On the screen it says "Retinal Scan Complete".]
UNDERHILL: That'll do it.
MAGNUS: I'm finished?
UNDERHILL: Yeah. [sliding a set of keys over the table] Those are your keys. I'd explain what doors they open, but to be honest, I'm not totally sure. Most of the Shadowhunters just use the Unlock rune. So, good luck.
[Magnus takes the keys, then turns to Underhill.]
MAGNUS: Hmm. I'm sorry, have I done something to offend you?
UNDERHILL: No, of course not. I guess I'm not sure having you move in here is such a great idea.
MAGNUS: Hmm. Because I'm a warlock?
UNDERHILL: No. No, no, no. Personally, I don't mind, but we've got protocols against this sort of thing.
MAGNUS: Don't worry. I don't plan on living here longer than I have to. I love Alec, but these screens are giving me migraines.
UNDERHILL: I'm sorry. I didn't realize this was a temporary thing. And hey, for what it's worth, I'm glad that you and Alec managed to work everything out.
DAMON: The point where you knew, your boyfriend blabbered out your relationship problem to a stranger.
MAGNUS: Excuse me?
UNDERHILL: Yeah, he, uh, told me you were having some differences.
MAGNUS: Oh, he did, did he?
UNDERHILL: Yeah.
MAGNUS: Excuse me.
[Magnus leaves.]
[HOTEL DUMORT]
[Heidi enters the lounge. A vampire, Annaliese, steps out of the crowd and approaches Heidi.]
ANNALIESE: Heidi? We thought the Shadowhunters had taken you.
HEIDI: What?
ANNALIESE: Well, they came in here. They took Josh, Griffin, El, all of them.
HEIDI: But how did they know who to arrest?
ANNALIESE: I don't know.
HEIDI: Well, you know what this means. That one of us here is a traitor. Whoever did this will be sorry.
Some of them scoffed at this sentence.
[DETROIT, COMMUNITY CENTER]
[Raphael is filling a bag with food for an elderly woman.]
IRMA: Thank you, Raphael.
RAPHAEL: You're welcome, Irma.
[Irma leaves, but Raphael knows he is not alone.]
RAPHAEL: You can stop hiding now. [Izzy appears from around the corner. Raphael smiles.] Isabelle.
ISABELLE: Raphael. By the authority of the Clave, I'm placing you under arrest.
RAPHAEL: I figured someone would come for me eventually, but I never thought it'd be you.
ISABELLE: I should've never let you go in the first place.
RAPHAEL: It was God's will, as it is you coming here now. If I must atone for my sins, so be it. But it is great to see you again.
ISABELLE: You, too. I just wish it was under different circumstances.
RAPHAEL: No. It's okay. I understand. You have your duty.
[Izzy takes out the handcuffs from her jacket. Raphael looks sad. Then he glances over at the empty plates on the table.]
RAPHAEL: Would you mind if I finish mine before we go?
CAROLINE: He is a good vampire.
[Izzy looks at the food, then with a soft smile she nods at Raphael. She puts the cuffs on the table and helps Raphael clean up.]
[THE INSTITUTE, TRAINING AREA]
[Rose wearing boxing glove, punching a boxing bag. Aline enters.]
ALINE: Need a sparring partner?
[Aline twists around a weapon.]
ROSE: Sure. [Rose takes her katanas.] You're Consul Penhallow's daughter?
ALINE: Aline. You're Valentine's daughter?
ROSE: Unfortunately.
ALINE: It's nice to finally meet you.
[Their weapons clash as Aline goes for a hit on Rose.]
ROSE: I'm guessing you didn't come all the way from Alicante just to train.
HAYLEY: True.
ALINE: I heard Achatius was in New York. [They clash some more.] I was hoping you might be able to help me track him down.
ROSE: If I knew where he was, I'd be out hunting him myself. I already told the Clave everything I know.
[They fight some more. Their close now, their weapons stuck to each other.]
ALINE: You wrote in your report that you're looking for a sword called the Morning Star.
[Aline pushes harder, and tries punch Rose in the stomach. Rose dodges it and punches Aline in the gut. Aline groans.]
KOL: She got punched in the gut.
ROSE: Yeah, it's a family relic. He somehow got it in that twisted head of his that I'm gonna help him find it.
[Aline makes some more moves, Rose defends herself.]
ALINE: Are you?
ROSE: Am I what?
ALINE: Gonna help him?
ROSE: No.
ALINE: But you did let him buy you a bottle of water.
[Rose kicks the weapon out of Aline's hands, disarming her. Aline continues to fight with her fists.]
ALINE: Is it really that hard to recognize that person who kept you hostage for days?
ROSE: I was stalling for backup.
ALINE: Except when they got there, you let him go.
BONNIE: She was totally on blaming you.
ROSE: I didn't.
[Rose throws her kindjals on the floor and attacks with her fists. They continue to fight. Aline flips Rose and throws her on the ground.]
ALINE: That hurt? Good. I want Achatius to feel it.
[Rose gets up. She's angry. She and Aline continue fighting. They both flip and land on the ground. Rose is quicker to get up and pins Aline down, punching her in the face while doing so. Aline is defenseless. Jace and Clary comes running up to them.]
REBEKAH: You beat the crap out of her.
JACE: Rose! Hey!
CLARY: Hey! Hey! [pulling a shocked Rose off of Aline] What are you doing?
[Rose is shocked when she sees Aline's bloody beat up face.]
ROSE: Aline, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Hey! I am so sorry.
[Aline gets up.]
JACE: [to Aline] You all right?
ALINE: Do I look all right?
ROSE: I just... I need some air.
CLARY: I'm coming with you.
ROSE: No. I need to be alone.
[Rose runs away.]

[Simon and Maia are driving to the hospital to see Nora Kendall.]
MAIA: Are you sure this is gonna work?
SIMON: Nora Kendall's the one who gave Jordan the tip about Heidi being at the DuMort.
MAIA: But wasn't she encantoed?
SIMON: She was. But if she could prove that Heidi coordinated all of this, I think that's the evidence Alec needs.
MAIA: But what good is our witness when Heidi wiped her memory?
SIMON: I'm gonna un-encanto her.
MAX: Is that possible?
MAIA: Can you really do that?
SIMON: We'll find out. She's at the hospital as we speak.
[HOSPITAL, NORA'S ROOM]
[Nora Kendall wakes up in the hospital bed. Heidi is sitting next to her.]
FINN: She reached there before Maia and you.
HEIDI: Hi, Nora.
NORA: No, Heidi, please, no.
[Heidi shushes her. Staring Nora in the eyes, Heidi encantoes her.]
HEIDI: I need you to do something for me. I need you to hold your breath.
HAYLEY: No, she was going to die.
[Nora does so, and the EKG machine she's hooked up to starts beeping rapidly. Heidi leaves the room with a smile. A tear drops from Nora's eye.]
[HOSPITAL, HALLS]
[Simon and Maia approach a nurse.]
SIMON: Um, we're looking for Nora Kendall.
NURSE: Are you family?
SIMON: I'm the one who brought her in.
NURSE: Oh, I see. Um, right this way.
SIMON: Thank you.
[The nurse takes them to Nora's room, they see her through the window hooked on heavy machinery.]
NURSE: She seemed to be on the mend and then she suddenly stopped breathing. Poor thing. I'm just glad her friend got to see her before it happened.
MAIA: Her friend?
NURSE: Yeah, a blonde girl, about your age. She was very nice.
CAROLINE: The vamp bitch.
MAIA: [shakes her head] Heidi.
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]
[Alec is sitting by the fireplace. Magnus enters.]
ALEC: Hey, how was your first day? You all set up?
[Magnus joins Alec by the fireplace.]
MAGNUS: Hmm. Good to go. Your handsome friend took care of everything.
KOL: I can smell jealousy.
ALEC: Underhill?
CAROLINE: You just accepted he is handsome.
MAGNUS: You think he's handsome?
ALEC: I guess?
MAGNUS: Hmm.
ALEC: Is that a problem?
MAGNUS: No. Yes. I don't know if I feel comfortable with you airing out our dirty laundry to the entire Institute.
Kol chuckled at this but received glares from others.
ALEC: What are you talking about?
MAGNUS: You told him we were having relationship issues.
ALEC: So I'm not allowed to talk to people about my problems?
MAGNUS: Well, sure. But him? You barely even know him.
ALEC: You're right. I'm... I'm sorry. I just didn't think it was a big deal.
MAGNUS: I know. I just feel... Sometimes, I...
ALEC: Wait. You're jealous.
MAGNUS: I don't get jealous.
HOPE: You were.
ALEC: You're jealous. You're actually jealous.
MAGNUS: I've never gotten jealous. This is not-
[Alec's phone rings.]
MAGNUS: Answer it.
[Alec picks up the phone. Cut to Simon in hospital when he's talking.]
ALEC: Hello?
SIMON: Alec, it's Simon. The Daylighter.
JACE: You don't need to mention you are a day lighter, every time.
ALEC: I know who you are.
SIMON: Maia and I found a witness. She can prove that Heidi set this whole thing up. [Alec puts the phone on speaker.] Is Magnus there with you?
ALEC: Where is she?
SIMON: That's sort of the thing. She's in the hospital. Heidi got to her first. The doctors are saying she's in some kind of irreversible coma, but I thought maybe Magnus could heal her.
ELENA: She is alive.
MAGNUS: I'll be right there.
[Cut to the hospital. Simon hangs up the phone.]
SIMON: Awesome. Magnus is on the way. [Maia is not there anymore.] Maia?
[Shot of Maia walking through the hallway of the hospital. She steals a needle and syringe from a cart and exits the hospital.]
ELENA: What was that needle and syringe for?
[THE INSTITUTE]
[Jace runs after Aline.]
JACE: Hey, you sure you're okay?
[Aline stops walking and turns to Jace.]
ALINE: Nothing an iratze couldn't fix. Although, I just got this shirt.
JACE: Look, I'll send it downstairs. I'll get it cleaned. Or better yet, I'll buy you a new one.
ALINE: If you're being nice to me so I won't report this, it's not gonna work.
JACE: Aline, come on, please. She's been through a lot.
ALINE: Jace, what she did out there, it wasn't normal. There's something seriously wrong with her.
JACE: She's under an enormous amount of stress. The last thing she needs right now is for word to get out that she beat up the Consul's daughter.
ALINE: She didn't beat me up. I was mostly winning until the end.
ROSE: Oh, right.
JACE: Yeah.
ALINE: If she didn't save my mom's life, I'd have her arrested. But I swear to the Angel, if she does anything like that again...
JACE: She won't. I promise. All she needs is a little time to get her head straight.
ALINE: I hope you're right.
[Aline walks away.]
[PROMENADE]
[Rose is looking at the dark water. Achatius appears from the shadows. He stands a few feet away from Rose.]
FREYA: Well, these two finding their way to each other is really true.
ACHATIUS: Beautiful night, isn't it?
ROSE: [shocked] What the hell are you doing here?
ACHATIUS: Funny, I was gonna ask you the same thing.
[Rose looks around, then back at Achatius.]
ROSE: Is this some kind of trap?
[Achatius scans the area too.]
ACHATIUS: I don't know. You tell me. I find it hard to believe that our meeting here is a pure coincidence. I had no intention of stopping here tonight. I have my own business to take care of, and yet, as I was walking by, I felt a sudden urge to stop. And here you are. You must've felt it, too. It seems that our rune has brought us together.
KOL: Again the rune stuff.
[Achatius starts to approach Rose.]
ACHATIUS: I was worried about you earlier.
ROSE: You stay back.
ACHATIUS: Whoever you were fighting, they must've gotten in a few good shots, didn't they?
ROSE: You come any closer, I will call the Institute.
ACHATIUS: Shouldn't you have done that already? Or are you enjoying this conversation as much as I am?
ROSE: [approaching him] You are here to remind me what I should do and what not? Sometimes, you make me... sick.
ACHATIUS: [circling around Rose] And yet, we're destined to be together. Our meeting here tonight proves it.
[Rose scoffs and turns to Achatius.]
ROSE: I don't believe in the bloody destiny, Achatius. And what brought us together, is a damn rune.
ACHATIUS: You love me, Rose. I can feel it. It's why you let me go yesterday and why you won't turn me in now. Come with me. I know a part of you wants to.
ROSE: No part of me wants anything to do with you.
ACHATIUS: Keep lying to yourself because deep down you fell the same.
THEO: I don't know about love but you were really annoying the shit out of her.
[Achatius looks down. Then back at Rose.]
ACHATIUS: For now. I've got that appointment to keep.
[Achatius passes Rose and is gone with a whoosh. Rose turns around, but she's alone now.]
[HOSPITAL, NORA'S ROOM]
[Magnus uses his magic to heal Nora. At the moment Magnus snaps his fingers and Nora gasps, Magnus hears the ringing from the magic in his ears again. Nora takes off the cap that helps her breathe.]
REBEKAH: She came out of the coma.
SIMON: Hey.
NORA: You brought me here.
SIMON: It's okay. You're safe now.
[Magnus looks at Alec, who smiles. Alec is proud. Simon leaves the room and is about to leave Maia a message.]
MAIA OVER VOICEMAIL: This is Maia. If you're hearing this, it's because my phone's battery sucks. Leave a message.
SIMON: Maia, it's me. Magnus was able to heal Nora. And we were right. Heidi was behind everything and Nora can prove it. Call me back.
[Simon hangs up.]
[ALLEY]
[Heidi is walking through an alley when Maia appears from around the corner.]
HEIDI: Oh, look who it is. The big, bad wolf.
MAIA: The Shadowhunters forgave you, but I haven't. I know you gave that order to kill my pack.
HEIDI: I don't know what you're talking about. That was Griffin's idea.
MAIA: And that poor girl in the hospital?
HEIDI: Nora? Her dad's an orthodontist, so, she's not poor.
LOUIS: She wasn't talking about that poor.
MAIA: Cut the crap. This is your last chance. Turn yourself in.
HEIDI: [approaching Maia with a grin] Or what?
MAIA: You die. Right here, right now.
HEIDI: You're serious? You actually think that you can kill me? If I were you, I would've brought a weapon.
MAIA: I'll manage.
HEIDI: You really don't get it, do you? You can't stop me. Nobody can.
[Heidi attacks Maia and throws her through the alley.]
MAIA: You killed my pack, my family.
[Maia charges and attacks Heidi with some punches. Maia throws Heidi against a metal ladder.]
MAIA: They did nothing to you!
HEIDI: [hisses] You're right. I killed them, just like I'm gonna kill you.
KLAUS: She was provocking her and she succeeded.
[Maia slaps Heidi in the face. Then Heidi suddenly is behind her and bites Maia in the neck. Heidi sucks the blood out of Maia. Then Heidi lets her go.]
REBEKAH: What was happening?
HEIDI: What's happening?
[Heidi is grunting, as her body becomes weaker. Her skin fades to grey and starts cracking. Maia gathers strength to stand over Heidi.]
MAIA: I injected myself with holy water. It does nothing to werewolves, but vampires? I bet it feels a lot like silver poisoning.
CAROLINE: That's what should be done.
[Heidi is dissolving.]
HEIDI: You bitch!
[Then, a Portal appears in the alley. Simon, Magnus, and Alec walk out of it, just in time to see Heidi withering away.]
HAYLEY: Finally, she is dead.
MAIA: I'll see you in Hell.
[The ashes dissolve.]
[THE INSTITUTE, CLARY'S BEDROOM]
[Rose is staring at the flames in the fireplace. She hears faint whispering. In a trance, she kneels down by the fire, and holds her hand out close to the flames. Cut to Achatius, in China Town, who feels the burn on his hand. He smiles cunningly. Cut back to Rose. Jace and Clary's voice is far away.]
BONNIE: You were burning your hand.
JACE: Rose!
CLARY: Hey!
[Jace pulls Rose away from the fire. She gasps and groans as the burns on her hand hurt. She concentrates on her hand and the wound heals.]
CLARY: What were you thinking?
ROSE I... I don't know. [realising something] The rune...
JACE: We need to get you to the Silent Brothers. Right now.
HOPE: The mark.
[THE INSTITUTE, CELLS]
[The vampires from the attack have been gathered in a group. Raphael is brought in too by a guard.]
GUARD: Move it. Behind the others.
[Izzy approaches Raphael and the guard.]
ISABELLE: [to the guard] Careful.
RAPHAEL: Every day I worked in that soup kitchen, I dreamed about you walking through that front door. I tried to think of what I'd say.
ISABELLE: You don't have to say anything.
RAPHAEL: And yet, this is my last chance. Never being able to see your face again... That's the price I must pay.
ISABELLE: Raphael...
RAPHAEL: Just... I just want you to know... [tears in his eyes] that I will always care about you.
ISABELLE: [tears in her eyes] I'll always care about you, too. Goodbye, Raphael.
CAROLINE: This is sad.
GUARD: The Portal's engaged. Let's move.
RAPHAEL: Goodbye.
[The vampires are all being taken away. A tear drops from Izzy's eye.]
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]
[Alec is sitting at his desk. Maia is standing across from him.]
MAIA: Come on, I already told you. I made it clear to Heidi that she should turn herself in, and then she attacked me. I mean, you saw the rest.
ALEC: You baited Heidi into attacking you, knowing full well the holy water would kill her.
MAIA: She killed herself. I didn't technically break any laws.
ELIJAH: She was right.
ALEC: You're free to go.
MAIA: That's it?
ALEC: Said so yourself. You didn't break any laws.
ELIJAH: That's good that you let her leave.
[Maia leaves the office, and goes to Simon who's waiting for her.]
MAIA: It's over. Finally. [Simon looks sad.] Hey, I know you sired her. I guess it must be tough.
SIMON: Yeah, I hated her. She wrecked my family. But we could've done it the right way.
MAIA: She would've gotten out eventually.
SIMON: You don't know that.
MAIA: Well, at least now we know she'll never hurt anyone ever again.
SIMON: I get it. But killing her? That's not right.
CAROLINE: That was the only option.
MAIA: Simon, the world is a better place without her.
SIMON: But that doesn't make this okay, Maia. There's a system for a reason. And if we keep breaking the rules, what makes us better than her?
[Simon walks away.]
[THE INSTITUTE, ALEC'S OFFICE]
[Magnus enters. Alec is standing by the window.]
MAGNUS: You were looking for me?
ALEC: Yeah.
MAGNUS: Alexander, if this is about what we were talking about earlier, I was wrong. You have every right to talk out your problems with your friends, no matter how good-looking they are.
ALEC: This isn't about that. This is about you living at the Institute.
MAGNUS: Oh.
ALEC: Believe me, I want to live with you, but you were right. Having an outsider live at the Institute, that is against protocol. And how can I expect everyone else to follow the rules, if I don't follow them myself?
MAGNUS: I understand. I'll move out first thing in the morning.
ALEC: However, there is no protocol that says the Head of the Institute has to actually live at the Institute. So, when you find a place, I was hoping that we could... both move in... together.
MAGNUS: Only if I get my own walk-in closet.
ALEC: [smiling] You mean that?
MAGNUS: [smiling] Of course. I love you.
They smiled at the scene.
[Magnus is about to kiss Alec but gets the ringing in his head again. His nose starts bleeding.]
BONNIE: Oh, no.
ALEC: Magnus?
MAGNUS: I'm fine. [Magnus starts coughing blood.] Magnus? Magnus? Magnus?
[As Magnus falls down, he starts speaking in Indonesian. Alec holds Magnus while yelling for help.]
ALEC: Medic! Somebody get help! [Magnus' body is shaking.] Magnus! Someone get help!
FREYA: Your body rejected the magic.
