I groaned softly, the sunsets light immediately hitting my eyes. I sat up and rubbed my tired eyes. My head hurt and my body felt groggy. “You’re finally awake,” they sighed, turning to look at me from where they sat not that far away. “I left for an hour and the three of you got yourselves drunk,” my eyes widened at the sight of Zeldris. “Z! You’re back! Oh wait- what would you prefer me to call you? I used to call you Oni and then Z, but your real name is Zeldris- but then…do I have to call you Lord Zeldris like Galand and Melascula do?”

“Any one of them is alright with me. But you don’t have to use any formal titles- you’re different…” his voice trailed off into a whisper. The necklace pulsated a gentle blue in my hands. I unconsciously found myself smiling down at the necklace. I heard the clank of armor, causing me to look up. Zeldris held out his hand for me to take and helped me to stand up. A light blush dusted my cheeks. “I haven’t forgotten what I said, don’t worry,” Zeldris smirked softly when my face erupted into a deep blush. I almost forgot about that-!

“I know I said, but I need to take care of something first, then I’m all yours princess,”

My heart began thumping wildly. He only smirked softly. I smiled and chuckled. “You better not have forgotten. You made that promise eight years ago,” I laughed, putting my hands behind my back. I couldn’t help but smile. It was almost surreal, the idea of spending time with Z. He was finally here. He had been freed from his lonely space in my necklace.

Abruptly, I beamed happily and jumped into his arms. “I still can’t believe that you’re here. I’m so happy,” The last part was so soft that even I could barely hear it. Zeldris’s eyes widened, flickering a bright green. A bright blush formed on his face. “Y-yeah,” he stuttered, barely able to form words. The necklace pulsated a wild pink.

I pulled away and looked up to find him smiling down at me. His armored hand moved to gently cup my cheek. My eyes widened when I caught the glimpse of a sad yet soft smile. “I’ve missed you so much my angel,” I felt tears prick my eyes. I wasn’t sure why, but that single sentence made me want to cry. Hesitantly, I placed my hand on top of his and leaned into his palm. I looked off to the side and to the ground. I already knew that my face was red- I really didn’t want to look at Z’s smirking face.

The demon let go and held my necklace in his hand, gazing into its red glare and simply smiled. “There’s somewhere I’d like to show you. Take my hand and hold on tight,” I was confused, but I didn’t say anything. I took his hand and he held me close to him. He kept his right hand around my waist, holding my body close to his. My whole face went beet red. He’s so close-!! I opened my mouth to speak, but I had screamed instead when he suddenly sprung up into the air. I wrapped my arms around his neck and clung tightly to him as fast as I could. Slowly, I opened my eyes one by one. They widened at the new sight.

My H/C hair blew softly in the wind. The entire world was below me; the clouds were closer than the actual ground. I looked at Zeldris to notice dark wings behind him with colors in faint swirls of all sorts. It was as if it was a galaxy. My eyes met with his green ones. They were so pretty. His eyes held so much emotion in them and all I wanted was to be able to understand them. Zel was secretive; he barely ever told me anything, but I couldn’t help but want to understand.

The rest of the flight, I stayed quiet for the most part. The sunset around us set into a dark night sky, filled to the brim with tiny stars that danced in their light. Zeldris landed in a small forest clearing as he set me down on the ground gently. The small area was encircled by trees with a small waterfall towards the back, small fireflies dancing in the flowers that surrounded it.

“It’s so pretty….” my breath was lost. It was beautiful. I whipped around to glance at Zeldris watching me with a soft smile. “You’ve come so far…” he muttered softly to himself. “You stood up against Galand when he threatened your comrades…I remember when you first asked me to train you. It took me a while to agree, but I’m so happy I did: If I hadn’t, I never would’ve known you…” my words were swept away as he laid his forehead on my own.

“I’ll always be by your side, even if you don’t remember the time we spent together,”

Tears began to roll down my cheeks like waterfalls. I raised an eyebrow. Why am I crying?

“Zeldris…” my voice was caught in my throat as I began to cry even harder. I have to do it…I have to ask him! While I have the time! “You’ve left me with so many questions and so little answers….-You say that we’ve been friends for 3000 years, but I’m only 18-! You somehow knew exactly who I was describing when I saw that goddess all those years ago,” I began with a shaky voice.

“Not to mention that whenever I mention these weird flashes of mine, you always get so worried, yet you always brush them away or tell me that they’re not real! You know what they really are, don’t you?!” I shouted, balling up my fists while the tears only fell, staring deep into his sad green eyes. “You have to! After all….you’re in them,”

I watched as his eyes widened. Zeldris looked at me with such a shocked expression. I knew that it had to be true, it really was him. “I saw you, smiling, with someone beside you. Her hair was blonde and her eyes were so kind. That reaction you had just now, only proved that these flashes aren’t fake-”

“They’re memories…aren’t they?

In a single second, time froze. The demon never thought he would hear a sentence like that. It shocked him so much that his eyes went wide and his hands shook. “When I got hurt and on the brink of death, Meliodas said something about watching it for the second time,” I quoted him. “I hear voices all the time. I see these- people I’ve never met before. I see them all the time. Nothing makes sense!” My hands made fists as my nails dug into my skin.

“Your name always brings me comfort. I didn’t even know it was your real name at the time. All I want is to understand Z,” I looked at him with a sad gaze, his eyes matching my own. “I know that these aren’t some- weird coincidences! They’re constant and they all connect in some way. No matter what you tell me, my opinion won’t change. I know that all of these odd occurrences have a meaning…”

His chest rose and fell as he took in a deep breath. “Angel…” his voice was soft while he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. “I want to tell you….but I can’t…not yet. When all this is over, I promise that I’ll explain. I need you to trust me,” with a sigh, I looked up at him. “Okay,”

That was all I said. After that talk, almost nothing about the subject was ever spoken. I trust Z, but……no one knows when this will all be over; whatever this is. I know that Z wouldn’t approve…but I have to know. I’ll find a way to understand what all this means. I have to.

I turned around, putting my hands behind my back, the wind making my hair flow softly around me. I thought about a way to find a way to get my memories, but found none. I sighed

“Zel, I’m quite tired. Do you think you can bring me back to your tree?” That was a lie. I knew Zel wouldn’t allow this so I had to make up an excuse to start my plan to retrieve my memories.

“Of course Angel, let’s go,” He went up behind me, putting his right armored hand around my waist bringing my body close to his. I found myself blushing. My heart was hammering loudly against my ribcage. What is happening with me?!

With his tight hold on me we took off. We were silent the entire flight. I felt bad for putting this atmosphere around us. Maybe I shouldn’t have pressed him to tell me about my weird images I keep seeing…

My eyes dropped, tears pricking my eyes.
What if he hates me? What if he decides I’m a burden or annoying and keeps his distance with me?…

I kept having those negative thoughts that I didn’t realize that we had arrived. Blinking my eyes to get rid of those useless tears, I looked up at Zel to see him already looking down at me with a soft gaze.

Landing on the ground he put me down gently. I kept looking at him not saying anything, he kept the same gaze looking at each other deeply.
At one point his gaze dropped to my lips, my eyes widening in shock when he began to lean in.

My heart painfully hammered against my ribcage. Closing my eyes, I waited for his lips to make contact on my own. However instead I felt his lips land on my forehead.

Removing his lips, he softly murmured “Forgive me I got carried away… I should bring you to your room. I’ll show it to you.” Grasping my left hand in his, he began to walk towards my respective room. The entire way I couldn’t stop blushing. This is madness!!

********

I lay in bed my arm above my eyes. I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened earlier. I kept thinking about his soft lips. What if he had kissed me? I widened my eyes at my absurd thoughts. Rolling on my stomach, I buried my head in my pillow screaming in it.

Turning my head, I let my hair cover my eyes. I should be careful around him… Zeldris is making me feel weird emotions. I don't understand it at all! I sighed. I was about to close my eyes, however voices outside my room- well sort of room that Zel prepared for me. Getting up, I tiptoed around the vine like door and peeked through it.

I saw Gloxinia, Drole (I think those were their names) and Zel. They were talking in hushed voices. I tried hearing what they were saying but it was quite hard. Getting a bit closer, I was able to make out some words.

They were talking about some kind of maze, price, wish and revenge? This was so weird. However, one word caught my attention. The word wish. What if in this maze you get to have a wish? And since there is a price, what if it’s a competition?

If I win and get to choose my price and wish, I could ask about my memories! I turned around, gaze ablaze.
I was determined to participate in this maze competition and win it.
Leaving as quietly as possible, I went down the giant tree, not really knowing the height I landed on my bum.

I got up from the ground rubbing my bum and took off, not knowing where I was going. I hope Zel won’t find out about it…

********

I leaned against a tree, putting my hands on my knees panting softly.
After a while I closed my eyes in frustration. I realized that I was now lost, tired and frustrated. I suppose I should’ve listened to more of the conversation- like the location! You dummy!
*sigh*

“N/N?” My body jolted with a shiver. My eyes opened quickly, having to adjust to the dark once more. Beautiful rainbow wings glowed behind the person that had spoken. A soft breeze blew around us. His dark eyes bore at me with a curious gaze.
“Aren't you supposed to be asleep?”

“Um-” I struggled to speak. This wasn’t the worst outcome, but still bad! “I couldn’t sleep, so I left to go find Zel. I got a little lost- I’m sorry,” I finished with a nervous laugh. I was confused when he replied with his own laugh. “You’re quite silly,”

Gloxinia moved forward, ruffling my hair slightly. The gesture almost made me cry, but I was unsure of the reason. I suddenly found the courage to speak. “U-um! I’m sorry, but I don’t believe I’ve met you yet,” The red head smiled sadly.
“Oh! That’s right! I never introduced myself, forgive me. My name is Gloxinia,”

I nodded my head softly, finding a strange comfort in the name. “I see,” I glanced at the ground before looking up at the fairy’s sad eyes. “Do you think- that you could keep this a secret from Zeldris? You seeing me out of my room, I mean. He gets protective,” I explained. Gloxinia nodded, causing a smile to cross my face.
“I’m sworn to secrecy,” Gloxinia ruffled my hair, laughing sadly.

This too felt familiar…I have to get to that festival! Only then, will this constant deja vu disappear. “Your room is just up there. I would love to escort you, but unfortunately I can’t. Drole and I have to spread a message to all of Liones. I’ll see you later N/N,” he winked playfully. He flew up, leaving in a second. My eyes widened when a piece of paper fell from his pocket. “Hey! Gloxi- wait!” I was too late; the fairy king was gone. I glanced down at the paper, almost dropping it from the shock.

‘Join us for the Fighting Festival! If you wish to participate, meet there in three days. The winner will have any wish of their desire granted’

I smirked to myself, stuffing the paper into my pocket. It was my ticket to regaining my memories.
