Y/N's POV:

She had rubies for eyes, and hair that was purple as the violets that grow during spring...

She had a fleeting smile, that twinkled like stars in the night sky... Her hair was dancing along with the cool breeze.

She was... Fleeting.

That was how the book described her.. And that's how I imagine her to be... She's the one I'd want to be with forever... I wish to see that smile... And I hope that I'd find her... My Happily Ever Afte-

*RIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!*

With a loud ringing sound snapping me from my slumber, I woke up to shut my alarm clock off.

"Ugh... Stupid alarm clock..." I let out a muffled groan, burying my face into my pillows.

I tried to get a grip of my senses when I saw the time written on it.

It was 7:55 in the morning. Come to think about it, It could only mean one thing...

...

...

...

...

"CRAP! I'M GONNA BE LATE!!!"

I jolted up from my groggy state and as fast as I could, I began to change and rush out of my house, not wishing to waste a single second.

"Y/N, you're gonna be la-"

"I KNOW!!! SEE YA'!!!" Cutting off Yuuto before he continued, I dashed out of the house, with a small piece of bread attached to my mouth, as I didn't have the time to sit down and eat it.

I continued to run, using every ounce of strength I have to make it to school. Desperate to get their, there wasn't a single moment that I had to stop.

"Please, Make it!!!! Please, Make it!!!"

I panted and continued to run, exhaustion continuing to get to me. I arrived at the Train station, and looked at the time, the moment I laid eyes on the clock, my eyes went as wide as salad plates.

"7: 58?!!!! OH, YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!!"

I looked over, to see that I have missed the train. The train departed from the station, leaving me standing there, panting and lamenting over the fact that I am gonna be late for school.

...

...

...

...

No, I refuse to be late.

Being quite determined for this, I tried to run once again wanting to make it, even just for a split second.

I continued to dash through the streets, wishing to make it in time, despite missing the train, it was a hopeless attempt, but I had to try anywa-

"Oof!!!" I grunted, as I felt myself bump into something.

God damn it.

"Hey, watch it!! I'm gonna be la-"

I was cut off, the moment I saw what was in front of me. It was... quite unexpected.

There was a white horse, it's color glistening under the sun. It was really unusual of a horse running around town at this time of day.

...

In fact... IT'S NOT NORMAL AT ALL! WHAT KIND OF SHENANIGAN IS THIS?!

...

But what really caught me off guard, was its rider.

"Ah, a pleasant morning to you, my little kitten~! Forgive me for bumping into you!"

She bumped into me...?! I BUMPED INTO HER! IT'S COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

But as I saw her features, I continued to look in disbelief.

There was just something about her, that I can't stop looking, it felt so unreal, and something that I've been reading in my book for quite a while now.

This girl had rubies for eyes, her fleeting crimson orbs were glistening like stars. Her hair was beautiful, violet as the flowers that grow in spring. It was swaying along with the wind.

Her face was gorgeous, she had the most beautiful smile I had ever seen, in fact... let's say... the most fleeting one. Everything about this woman was just...

...Fleeting.

I could feel the vibes of a prince from her, something straight out of a fairy tale.

"Ah~! I assume you to be rushing... Are you late for school?" She asked out of nowhere.

Yeah... Wait, how did she know?!!!

I looked closely, and saw that she was wearing a uniform. A uniform that can only be seen in my school... Wait a second, she's late too?! She's from Haneoka, and a third year at that?!

"Y-Yeah.. Just who a-"

"Well, So am I!!!" She flamboyantly flaunted her arms once again, as her horse neighed in response to it.

...

... What a weirdo.

After that, she then lent out her hand, seemingly trying to ask me something.

"Would I interest you in striding to school together~? After all, you and I are both late for our class~!"

...

Riding a horse... to school...?

...

...

This is probably... One of the most bizarre things to ever occur to me today.

As much as I think this is a nonsensical way of going to school, I still look at the odds I have right now. And I hate to admit it, maybe this is the only way to arrive to school at this time.

Reluctantly, I took a hold of the girl's hand, and climbed up the horse. Here goes nothing, and hope that We'll arrive in ti-

"Hyah!"

Without any warning, the horse then began to dash through the streets. With the wind brushing against our faces, the girl and I dashed and zoomed through, wanting to reach the gates in time.

Some time of galloping, we finally have the campus in our sights. However, the guard was already closing the gate. Once it finally loses, it's all over for the both of us.

"T-THE GATE!!!" I exclaimed, as we continued to gallop even faster.

"Hang on tight, my sweet~!" The girl looked back at me, as we approached the gate at high speed.

"W-Wait!! What do you mean Hang on ti-WAAAAAAHHH!!!"

...

I was cut off, as the silver horse jumped over the gate. I felt like my world was slowing down, as we jumped to the air, the wind blew past our faces. And not to mention, her hair was swaying with the wind. She was sparkling along with the bright sun, she was shining like a star.

She was.... Fleeting.

...

And of course, it was not long when we finally land at the campus, and at the same time, the guard finally closes the gate. I drop down to the ground panting, and trying to comprehend everything that was happening.

I could hear the cheers and squeals of girls from afar, seemingly cheering at the act the girl pulled off. The girl then walked to me lending a hand, with a rather, princely smile.

"It seems like we made it, my little kitten~." She smiled.

...

There's no doubt about it. She does look like a princess from the book I was reading, but instead of a princess...

I encountered a prince instead?!

This is the third day of school, and yet, this had been quite eventful for a morning.

The girl helped me up, and winked at me with that fleeting smile.

"Alas, this is where we part ways... See you around, My little kitten~!"

And with that she walked away, towards the building, where you can see a bunch of girls squealing from the windows up at the different floors. I stood at the grounds, just beside her horse, completely dumbfounded.

"...What was that...?"

And with that, I had to shrug it off, and walk her horse to the side, before getting to class. It's a miracle that I somehow arrived before the gate closes, but I hope I'm not too late for the first period!

"Y-You got to ride with Kaoru-senpai on her horse to school?!!!"

Himari exclaimed while munching on a meat bun, as we continued to talk during break time. We were sitting at the school grounds, talking about the events that happened a while ago.

"Yeah... Why?"

"Mou~! I'm so jealous Y/N-senpai!!!" She then pouted at me once again.

"...Jealous...?" I took a bite of my bread, seemingly dumbfounded about my Kouhai's reactions.

"You don't get it do you...? You just rode to school with the most fleeting person in existence!" Himari whined.

"And you're sitting right here, beside me, one of the most religious devotees of Kaoru-senpai, without any reaction at all?!"

"Well..." I started. "Yeah..."

"Mou~! Y/N-senpai, could you at least be enthusiastic about her?" She pouted.

"Why? I mean, I'm already happy that I wasn't late for class..."

"Besides..." I take a bite once again. "What does someone like her, got to do with me?"

"Mou~! You're so hopeless!" Himari whined.

Also no, Himari. It's not being hopeless, I seriously have nothing to do with this Kaoru person.

...

But her gaze, and everything she had, I really cannot deny it.

She has everything that the princess has in that book that I read.

She was like a star, the shined brightly even in the daytime.

It's weird but, that's how it felt.

She was... Fleeting.
...

"Y/N-senpai, wanna take a stroll down the halls?" Himari offered, as she stood up and fixed herself.

With one last bite, I finished my snack and stood up as well. And with that, my Kouhai and I took a stroll around the campus halls.

꧁༒︎༒︎༒︎꧂

"So, Y/N-senpai, have you chosen a club yet?"

We were passing by the halls, and it's atmosphere was the same as ever. A simple balance between the chatter of students and people walking by.

"Well, to be honest, I haven't really given it much thought yet..." I started. "Probably give me some more time and I think I'll find somethi-"

"Ooh! Maya-senpai!" Himari immediately called the attention of a brunette just by the bulletin, posting some kind of poster.

"A-Ah! Himari!" The girl named Maya, noticed us approaching her space.

"Is that...?" Himari asked, as the brunette immediately replied.

"Ah, Yeah! It's a new play from the Drama Club." She started.

"Kaoru-san's been given a new role to play, to differentiate from her usual norm as a prince. And the plot of the story will take place from a new book! It's a new project!"

"That's so cool!" Himari smiled. And as for me...

...

I noticed that it contained the girl herself, along with the silhouette of a man just by her side, it seemed to form an idea that felt so familiar, and was from something that I think I've seen before.

...

"The story was about a princess and an outcast and how they fell in love. I've only seen the details from the scriptwriters back at the room, but that's the premise of it!" Maya continued.

...

Wait... Are they doing that story?!

How...? How do they know that story? It's only sold two copies worldwide, basically only two people know of the story.

...With I, being one of them.

But, how the hell did it get to the drama club's possession?

...

"I see!" Himari cheerily replied.

"Although, this poster I'm placing is also a recruitment poster for the drama club because... You see, we're heavily understaffed." Maya sheepishly continued.

"We want to make this performance one of our best, so we might need all the help we can get."

Himari then nudged me, seemingly having that look which I had a bad feeling about.

"Do you hear that, Y/N-senpai? They need help in the Drama Club!" Himari started.

Oh God...

"Ah... Himari, didn't I tell yo-"

"Y/N-senpai over here hasn't signed up for any clubs yet! Maya-senpai, maybe you could let him in the drama club?"

"Ooh!!! That's nice! We'd be delighted if we have someone new in the club!" Maya smiled in delight.

And, this is the last thing that I needed today.

I look at Himari, worried and nervous. I didn't have a say in this at all!

"C'mon, Y/N-senpai! This is a good opportunity to join a clu-"

"Ahahaha~, Excuse us for a second..." I smiled at Maya, before pulling Himari to the side, and scold her in a whispery voice.

"What the hell, do you think you're doing?!"

"Getting you a club! C'mon Y/N-senpai, you gotta join one!" She replied.

"You do realize that I'm far from ready to act on stage! I haven't even adjusted to the school and here you want me to do the last thing I want to do?!"

"B-But you don't have to act! You can be one of those in charge of the stage props!" Himari interjected.

"C'mon, Y/N-senpai! This is a great opportunity!" She followed.

"You once told me before that, if one door closes, another opens! And with that, you should take it when the opportunity comes!"

"Himari..." look at Himari in an expression, wishing for her to stop. But she was rather, too persistent.

...

...

...

"I'll think about it, Himari..." I gave up and sighed, making her squeal and cheer in joy.

It doesn't mean that I'll join, but I guess trying out wouldn't hurt.

As if I even had a choice anyways...

I turned to see Maya walk towards us with a bright and welcoming smile.

"Etto, there's a small briefing later at 4:00 PM in the Drama Club if you're wishing to join, if you're fine with it of course..." She started.

"O-Oh, I'm fine with it, no worries! S-See you later at 4:00 PM!" I smiled back at her.

"Huhehe! We're looking forward to working with you, Y/N-san!" Maya cheerfully smiled.

"Y-Yeah... Likewise..." I replied.

And with that, I reluctantly agreed to be a part of the drama club. It will be okay, as long as I get to be a props man.

As long as I don't get to act... It's all going to be fine...

...

...

...

'You're weak! Pathetic! You can't even say a word the moment you step up on stage!'

'You're not good enough, and you'll never will be.'

...

...

...

"Yeah... It's going to be fine..."

I sighed to myself, as Himari and I walked back to our respective rooms after an eventful morning.

But even so, I just can't stop thinking about that woman from earlier. There was just really something about her that really grabs my attention.

It's been quite a while since I've seen her since this morning...

...If a few hours count as a while...

What could she be doing now...?

With only knowing her name, the girl that I had encountered has been quite the mystery.

...

The school year had barely started, and I'm sure that this won't be the only time I get to see her.

A mystery and something interesting that I wish to know even more.

...

"Just who are you... Kaoru Seta...?"
