Back in National City, things have been a bit strained for Alex and Sam, in terms of their relationship. Due to both Kara and Lena being on vacation, this has meant that Alex and Sam have had increased workloads to pick up for them not being there. For Alex, this has meant that the DEO has had increased security, not only on National City, but on most places across the country. While there haven't been many more alien related incidents than usual, the DEO has been put under more of a heavy load because of how easily and quickly Kara can deal with these minor incidents compared to their agents. This is on top of the fact that Superman is still not in action either. Of course, nothing major has come up, but this has still meant that Alex has had to spend a lot more time than usual coordinating agents, and also taking extra precautions just in case a large threat does pop up. Then meanwhile, for Sam, she has also had a larger workload than usual, because while Lena is on holiday she has been tasked with undertaking all of Lena's duties as CEO of L-Corp, and Chairwoman of both CatCo and L-Corp. No major incidents have occurred or anything, but it still has all been a lot of work for Sam. In fact, it's been so much work that Sam has made a note in her mind to tell Lena off for the amount of work she does.
It is due to all the increased work that Alex and Sam have had to deal with over the last few days of Kara and Lena being on vacation, that they haven't been able to spend much time together. Alex still has come over to Sam and Ruby's house on her scheduled days, but it has mostly been to just have a quick dinner with them, before then crashing from exhaustion in bed. Then for Sam, things haven't been any better, as she has had to use a large amount of her evenings to finish up all her work that she wasn't able to complete in her day. However, despite all the work that Alex and Sam now have because of Kara and Lena's vacation, they are both happy to do it. Both Sam and Alex know that Lena, Kara and Alura all deserve a break after everything they have been through these last few months. So, Sam and Alex are happy to make these short-term sacrifices to their relationship, to allow Kara, Lena and Alura their holiday.
Presently, it is early on Friday morning, and Alex and Sam are both waking up, about to prepare for yet another crazy day of work.
"Morning..." Sam hums, as she snuggles her head into her beautiful girlfriend's chest.
"Hey, babe." Alex smiles, hugging her girlfriend closely.
"I don't want to go to work today..... I'd much rather stay in bed with you..." Sam groans.
Alex chuckles.
"I know. I'd much rather stay here with you too." Alex replies, and then places a kiss on the top of Sam's head.
Sam hums happily to Alex's kiss.
"How are things going at work?" Alex asks, after a few moments silence, "I know I haven't had much of a chance to ask you, because things have been so crazy."
Sam sighs.
"Fine.... nothing too major has come up or anything.... It's just a lot..." Sam replies, "I honestly don't know how Lena does it all.... unless she secretly has super powers or something."
Alex chuckles.
"Well, just don't drive yourself crazy with all the work." Alex says.
"I'll try not to." Sam replies.
There is then another silence between the two women as they just lay there next to one another happily, knowing they need to get up and get ready for work soon.
"I actually spoke with Kara yesterday...." Alex begins, "and she told me they are all having a good time. I'm not sure if you knew, but they are actually going to only be away for a week, instead of their original 2 weeks they planned."
"Yeah, I did know that." Sam nods, "Lena mentioned it to me when I sent her the statement L-Corp released about Lex's death."
"Ah, okay." Alex replies, "Anyway, Kara asked if maybe I could, or we could, take Alura for a day once they get back? I think Kara and Lena just want some alone time."
"You mean, they want their penthouse to themselves to they can rail one another on every surface, in every room of that place?" Sam says, with a smirk.
Alex groans, loudly, pushing Sam away.
"SAM! Why did you have to say that!" Alex says, still groaning.
Sam just chuckles, amused by Alex's reaction.
"You know I like to tease you." Sam hums, as she sits up in bed and moves closer to Alex.
Alex huffs.
"I wish you had a sister so I could do the same to you." Alex replies.
Sam chuckles.
"Sorry, I'm an only child I'm afraid." Sam says, with a smirk.
Alex huffs again, and in response Sam hugs Alex from behind, which eventually makes Alex smile. Alex then turns to gives Sam a kiss on the lips.
"Hmmm.... I'd love to do this all day..... but I have an early meeting.... so I need to get up and get ready."
"Okay." Alex replies, with a frown.
"Could you do me a favour and wake Ruby up, and make sure she has her breakfast and everything?" Sam asks.
"Of course." Alex smiles.
Sam heads into the bathroom, and Alex then makes her way out of the bedroom and towards Ruby's room, where she then knocks on the door. Alex doesn't get a response once she knocks, so she opens the door and sees that the almost 13-year-old is still lying in bed, asleep. Alex simply takes in the sight for a few moments, watching the young girl sleep. Ever since Alex began dating Sam, she has grown very attached to Ruby. Alex knows that one day, if she and Sam do end up together, she'd happily call Ruby her daughter, if that is what Ruby wanted. Ruby already has a big place in Alex's heart, and she couldn't be happier about it.
After a few more moments of Alex just standing there, she makes her way into Ruby's room, and then moves by the 12-year-old's bedside.
"Ruby?" Alex says, softly.
Ruby begins to move in her bed, signalling that she's waking up.
"Hmmmm.... mom?" Ruby says, tiredly.
Alex's heart does a little jump as Ruby says that, even though she knows it's because Ruby must think she's Sam.
"It's Alex." Alex says.
Ruby opens her eyes and begins rubbing them.
"Oh.... hi...." Ruby says.
"Your mom just sent me in here, because she had to take her shower, and she wanted me to wake you up and make sure you have breakfast." Alex explains.
Ruby huffs.
"I'm not a child anymore, I can make my own breakfast." Ruby says.
Alex chuckles and then smiles at Ruby.
"That you can." Alex smiles, "So how about we both just eat our breakfasts together?"
"Yeah, okay." Ruby nods.
Alex and Ruby then make their way downstairs, where Ruby has some rather unhealthy cereal for breakfast, while Alex makes herself some toast and a coffee.
"Can I have some coffee?" Ruby asks.
"No." Alex quickly says, "You're too young."
"Mom lets me drink coffee!" Ruby protests.
Alex's gives Ruby a certain look.
"You realise that I'm a government secret agent, right? And I can easily tell when someone is lying to me." Alex says.
"It was worth a try." Ruby mutters.
Alex chuckles to that.
Alex and Ruby then proceed to have their breakfast together, chatting about a few things as they do.
"I hate having to go to work with mom all the time. It's sooooo boring." Ruby eventually says.
Alex grows a sympathetic look on her face at Ruby saying this, knowing that for a 12-year-old, spending their summer having to go to work with their mother, instead of being at home having fun, isn't ideal.
"Yeah, I know, Ruby." Alex says, "How about I take Monday off, and the two of us can just spend the day together?"
"Really?!" Ruby says, surprised.
"Sure." Alex smiles, "As long as that's okay with you, and with mom?"
"Yeah." Ruby nods, "I'd like that."
"Great." Alex smiles, "You'll have to come up with some things that we can do together."
"Yes. I'll think about it when I'm at mom's work today." Ruby replies.
"That sounds like a good plan." Alex says, continuing to smile. "And, by the way, sometime later next week, after Kara, Alura and Lena come back home, I'm going to be watching Alura for a day, and a night. So, I was thinking that maybe you'd like to spend it with us? Perhaps mom could take the day off work too or something?"
"Yeah, that sounds great!" Ruby smiles, "I'm sure Alura will want to tell me all about Disney."
Alex chuckles.
"Yeah, she probably will. By the sound of things, they are having a great time." Alex says.
After this, Alex, Ruby and Sam all then get on with their days.

It is currently just before 10AM, and Kara, Lena and Alura have just entered Hollywood Studios, the families final park at Disney World. Today Lena is actually pretty excited, simply because she is really looking forward to the Fantasmic! showing at 6PM. Kara has noticed Lena's excitement about the show, and it has just made her even more bubbly than she usually is.
"Okay, our beautiful park guide." Kara says, smiling lovingly at Lena, "What should we do today?"
Lena blushes at Kara's compliment, as she begins to look at the park map.
"Yes, momma is very beautiful." Alura says, sweetly.
Lena feels her heart swell at her daughter saying that.
"Nowhere near as beautiful as both of you." Lena replies, feeling so happy.
Kara and Alura both smile at Lena saying that.
"Nu-uh. I want to be pretty like momma when I grow up." Alura replies.
Lena chuckles.
"You already are very pretty, my little precious beautiful darling." Lena says, feeling so much love for Alura right now.
"Alright, alright." Kara says, speaking up, "Maybe we should just agree that we are all beautiful, otherwise we are going to spend all day arguing over who is the prettiest, and then not enjoying the park."
"Yeah, okay." Lena nods.
"Okay, momma is still pretty though." Alura says.
Kara rolls her eyes at Alura saying that, not having any bad feelings about Alura insisting on Lena's beauty this morning, rather than her own.
"Hmmm.... okay..." Lena hums, as she continues to look at the map, "So this first area here is called Hollywood Boulevard, and there is only one ride, the rest are shops and food places. However, if we walk up through this area, we can then go to Animation Courtyard, where there is some fun animation stuff it looks like. Then after that we can go to Toy Story Land, where there looks to be several rides."
"Toy Story, like Woody and Buzz Lightyear?" Alura asks.
"Yes, that's the one." Kara nods, with a smile.
"Yes! Let's go there!" Alura nods, firmly.
Kara and Lena both chuckle at their daughter saying that.
"That sounds good...." Kara says, but then glances at some other people walking through the park and gets an idea, "However, I think we need to make a stop at one of these shops here first."
"What for?" Lena asks, confused.
"I think we have spent far too much time in these Disney parks so far to not have worn any of the mouse ears even once." Kara replies, "So it's time we all get our mouse ears!"
"YESS!!!" Alura says, excitedly.
Lena chuckles at Kara suggesting that, not having any objections to wearing mouse ears, it being a lot better than walking about a park dressed as a Disney princess.
The family then proceed into the nearest shop to buy their mouse ears. Once they are inside, Kara gets a classic Minnie Mouse mouse ears, with the red and white bow. Alura gets mouse ears that are shades of blue, with a light shade of blue bow that has a small tiara in the centre of it, and then the ears themselves are an even lighter shade of blue, with silver sparkles on them. Then finally, Lena gets simple black mouse ears with black bow that has white dots on it, the ears going well with Lena's very dark hair.
"We all look like Minnie Mouse!" Alura says, excitedly, as they walk out of the store, wearing their ears.
Kara and Lena both chuckle.
"We certainly do, darling." Lena smiles, lovingly.
Kara chuckles again, happy that Lena is getting into the spirit of things.
"Okay, so what are we going to do first?" Kara asks, with a smile.
Lena looks at the map again.
"So, the first ride I think we should try and go on is called Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway." Lena says, "The description says you burst into a cartoon world with Mickey and Minnie on a wacky train trip. So, I think you'll enjoy that, right, Alura?"
"Yes! I love Mickey and Minnie Mouse." Alura smiles.
Lena smiles happily at hearing that.
"You certainly do." Lena says.
Kara, Lena and Alura then head to Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, where they queue up for the ride. The queue itself is almost 30 minutes long, but thankfully it has a bunch of features throughout the queue which keep Alura entertained. Then once they got on the ride itself, Alura absolutely loved it, and frankly so did both Lena and Kara. From the name of the ride itself, Lena thought that perhaps it would be a Mickey and Minnie themed rollercoaster, however, it wasn't like that at all, just a simple gentle fun ride, with a lot of things going on throughout it to keep kids entertained.
"Did you like that ride, Alura?" Lena asks, as they all get off the ride, the CEO already knowing the answer from the smile on her daughter's face.
"YES!" Alura says, happily, "Can we go on it again?"
Kara and Lena both chuckle at Alura asking this.
"Sure." Lena smiles, "But let's go on it again later, when the queue has died down, as there are still a bunch of other rides for us to go on."
"Okay." Alura nods, happily.
Kara, Lena and Alura make their way further into the park, where they enter the Animation Courtyard area. They then go into the Walt Disney Presents Gallery and Exhibit, which shows past and future stuff in relations to the Disney company, and the Disney parks. Lena didn't think Alura would find this too entertaining, but the 5-year-old actually really enjoyed it, looking on in fascination at all the past and future things Disney has done and will do. Then once they left this exhibit, they then went into a theatre where they watched a tribute film to Walt Disney. Alura found this very interesting too, enjoying learning more about the man that created Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Once Kara, Lena and Alura are finished in the Animation Courtyard part of the park, they then head into Toy Story land. The family then go on the Alien Swirling Saucers ride, which is basically a Toy Story themed teacups ride. Alura enjoyed the ride, loving all the flashing lights and music. Lena, for her part, regretted going on the ride, being made very dizzy by all the swirling around, just like she was from the teacups ride. Kara enjoyed the ride, just like Alura, but she did feel sympathetic for Lena again.
After they got off of the Alien Swirling Saucers ride, Kara then suggested that she and Alura go on the Slinky Dog Dash rollercoaster, which then allowed Lena to take a moment to stop herself feeling giddy. Alura and Kara both loved the Slinky Dog Dash rollercoaster, with the 5-year-old requesting to go on it again. Just like with the Mickey and Minnie Mouse ride, the two parents both promised to come back to it later.
The whole family then made their way into the Toy Story Mania! Ride, which is like a 3D version of the Buzz Lightyear ride in Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. On this ride, as only 2 people could sit with one another, Alura sat with Lena, seeing as she and Kara went on the last ride together, while Kara sat in a carriage just behind her two loves. Lena actually really enjoyed this ride, along with Alura, and it was made all the better when she found out that she actually beat Kara in her high score.
"I swear my shooter was broken." Kara pouts, after finding out Lena beat her.
Lena chuckles.
"I'm sure it was, darling." Lena smiles, placing a kiss on Kara's cheek.
Kara, Lena and Alura then made their way out of Toy Story land, and into the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge part of the park. However, the family then decided to get some food for lunch in this part of the park, before going on any ride. While Lena was choosing where they would have their lunch, she did want them to eat in Oga's Cantina, as it looked like a cantina from the Star Wars movies, however the CEO quickly found out it only served snacks and alcohol, not anything substantial for lunch. Plus, Lena didn't think it would be an appropriate place for a 5-year-old, especially as she still hasn't seen the Star Wars movies. So, because of this, Lena decided that they would eat in Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, which is a themed fast-food restaurant.

It is now about 40 minutes later, and Kara, Lena and Alura have just finished their lunch. The family then proceed to explore the Star Wars area of the park by first going on the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, which Lena, Kara and Alura all loved, before then going on the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride. Lena wasn't a particular fan of the second ride, but both Kara and Alura enjoyed it.
Once the family were off the second ride in the Star Wars area of the park, they then went into a few shops, one called Savi's Workshop, where they got to play with cool lightsaber, and even make their own (less cool) lightsabers.
"You know, I could totally make a real lightsaber if I wanted." Lena comments.
"WHAT?!" Kara replies, shocked.
Lena just smirks at Kara.
After this, the family then went into a shop called the Droid Depot, where they got to customize, assemble and activate a droid. Lena and Alura both really enjoyed this, even though for Lena it wasn't realistic at all. Kara didn't really participate in building the droid, so she had no opinion on the experience one way or another. Kara just let Alura and Lena bond together by building the droid, and was happy to watch on with a very big smile on her face. It made Kara get a picture in her head of Alura being older one day and doing science with Lena, helping her build things in her lab.
"Alright, so what's next?" Kara asks Lena, with a smile, as they walk out of the Droid Depot.
"Hmmm..." Lena hums, looking at the park map, "So we have basically done everything in this Star Wars area of the park. But there is actually another Star Wars ride in an area next to this, so how about we go on that?"
"Sure." Kara nods, with a smile.
"Yes, I like Star Wars." Alura says, happily.
Kara and Lena both chuckle at that, seeing as their daughter hasn't seen any of the films.
Kara, Lena and Alura walk into the Echo Lake area of the park, where they then go on the Star Tours ride, which Lena actually really enjoyed, it being one of her favourite rides they have been on thus far, right up there with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Kara and Alura both enjoyed the ride too, with the 5-year-old sitting in between her two parents during the ride, holding both of their hands.
Once the family were done with the final Star Wars ride, they then went into the Vacation Fun attraction, which was a showing of an original short film of Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Alura absolutely loved the short film, which Kara and Lena both expected she would. Then after that, the three ladies went into a showing of For the First time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, which contained a lot of Frozen stuff and songs. Alura loved the show even more than the Mickey and Minnie Mouse one, singing her heart out to "Let it Go" when the characters began singing. Lena may have even joined in in singing the song too, along with Kara, of course.
After the family left the Frozen sing-along showing, they then headed into the Grand Avenue area of the park, where they watched Muppet Vision 3D. Alura loved this show too, enjoy all the Muppets jokes and everything. Kara too enjoyed the show. Some of the jokes didn't really hit for Lena, but she was simply happy that Alura enjoyed the show so much.
The family then left the Muppets show and went into the final area of the park called Sunset Boulevard, there they first went into a showing of Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy, which Alura didn't really like, before they then went and saw Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage. Alura absolutely loved the show, and was in awe of it all, while both Kara and Lena enjoyed the show too.
"You know, seeing as Alura has enjoyed these shows so much, maybe we could all go see a musical together sometime?" Lena suggests, as they walk out of the Beauty and the Beast show.
"Oh, yeah." Kara nods, "I know I'd like that, and I'm sure Alura would too."
Alura currently isn't paying any attention to the conversation, and is just looking around the park, holding Lena's hand.
"What's that?" Alura asks, as she points to The Tower of Terror.
"Uhhh.... that's a ride called The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror." Lena explains.
"What is it?" Alura asks, confused, as they can hear the people screaming inside the ride.
"It's a ride where you basically are in an elevator, and it suddenly drops." Kara explains, "But it's obviously safe, and you are strapped in and everything."
"Oh... can we go on that?" Alura asks.
"Uhhh.... it says here that you are tall enough to go on it...." Lena says, regretfully, really not wanting to go on the ride herself.
Kara looks at Lena, and notices her girlfriend's apprehension.
"How about you and I go on it, Alura?" Kara suggests, "I don't think this is a ride momma will like."
Alura looks up at Lena, and twists her face slightly. Lena looks down at her daughter and sees she's a bit hesitant.
"Go on darling." Lena smiles, "You can go on the ride with mommy, as it's the final ride we haven't done in this park. Once you are off it, we can go eat our dinner somewhere. Then after that, it will probably be time to go see Fantasmic!"
"Okay." Alura says, after a few more seconds of hesitation.
Kara then gives Lena a quick peck on the lips, before she and Alura then go on the Tower of Terror ride, walking hand in hand. Alura, for her part, ended up not really enjoying the ride at all. The 5-year-old wasn't scared by it or anything, but she just didn't find falling in the lift to be entertaining.
Once Kara and Alura were finished with the Tower of Terror, Alura held Lena's hand tightly as they then walked over to The Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant which Lena had chosen for them to eat at. The restaurant itself was very expensive, even more so than Cinderella's Royal Table, but that obviously wasn't a problem for Lena. Kara, Lena and Alura all very much enjoyed their food, and got priority seating with their meal package for Fantasmic!
After the trio were finished eating, they then went to Fantasmic!, where they got some really good seats, close to the front and right in the middle. The show then began, and Kara, Lena and Alura all absolutely loved it. Alura loved all the Disney characters that were in the show, and the singing that went along with it, while Lena just enjoyed the show in general. Then, of course, Kara simply loved everything about it, with it being made even better by her noticing how much Lena and Alura were enjoying the show too.
"What did you guys think?" Kara asks Lena and Alura, with a smile, as they walk out of the show.
"It was amazing mommy! Can we go see it again?" Alura asks, excitedly.
Kara and Lena both chuckle.
"I don't think so. We have got to let other people have seats to see it." Kara sort of lies.
"Oh, okay." Alura nods.
"What about you, Lee?" Kara asks, with a knowing smile.
"I loved it too." Lena says, "It was an amazing show, and well worth going to see."
Kara smiles back at Lena, happy that her girlfriend enjoyed the show so much.
Now that the family have seen Fantasmic!, the parents then decide that they will finish off their day at Hollywood Studios by going on the rides Alura requested they go on again. This starts with all three of them going on the Toy Story rollercoaster, with Lena sitting with Alura, while Kara sat in the row behind them. Lena found the ride to be okay, not as crazy as Big Thunder Mountain, which made it better, but she was ultimately glad she went on it from how much fun Alura had, with all her screams and giggles. After the family got off the ride, the parents noticed that there was a very short wait time for the Toy Story Mania ride, so the three of them went on that again also. This time Kara sat with Alura, while Lena sat in her own compartment behind them. Alura got the high score this time, beating both the adults, while Lena still beat Kara, by only 7 points, much to the CEOs amusement.
Finally, to finish their day in Hollywood Studios, the trio went on the ride that they began their day on, the Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Just like the first time, Alura absolutely loved the ride, with the best bit being that because they were sitting in different places compared to the previous time, they all saw different stuff than before. Lena and Kara both enjoyed the ride too, with it being a perfect way to end their fantastic day.
Lena, Kara and Alura then left the park, with Kara carrying Alura on her shoulders, all of them with pleased smiles on their faces. Then as they were walking out of the park, Lena had a moment where she was looking at Kara and Alura, and their smiles, while also noticing her own, when she realised just how great her life is right now. Originally Lena may have really not wanted to spend her vacation at a bunch of theme parks, but Lena now knows how wrong she was. This holiday may not have been Lena's preferred vacation, but from how much fun Alura has been having, it has been more than worth it for the CEO. All Lena knows is if only a year ago someone had told her that she would be vacationing in Disney World, with her adopted daughter and girlfriend, and having an incredible time herself, she would have sent the person to get some serious mental help. It just shows how less than a year has changed things for Lena completely. The brunette can't wait to have many, many more years together.
