there in the dark it waits,
hungering and sulking,
others walk it by,
maybe even you do,
maybe it even lets you by,
sometimes,
but other times,
it leaps from the shadows,
so quick it could be invisible,
and it latches onto you,
and you collapse,
tears falling,
memories flooding,
the beast has it's meal,
and when it's done,
it scurries back to the dark,
and waits for you.
