You yawned and smacked your lips together as your alarm clock began to go off. You didn't really want to get up despite how much you had to. Still, you yawned to yourself as you slowly got your ass out of your bed and was sitting upright. You reached out a little bit and grabbed hold of the metal frame of your wheelchair and moved yourself into it and sat on down. You slapped yourself a little to get yourself fully awake as you felt someone or something was pushing you towards the bathroom door.
You glanced up and back and smiled a bit at seeing your close partner, Haxorus, was giving you a push. You smiled warmly at him which he returned as well. He rolled you into the bathroom where you went ahead and got out of the chair and hoisted yourself up and sat down in the shower seat. After your normal clean up, you went ahead and rolled out and grabbed some breakfast, whistling a little while you worked. As you were doing so, you heard your phone go off at a nearby counter.
You sighed in slight annoyance before rolling from your table of food over to the counter. You reached up and grabbed it before seeing who it was. Professor Aurea Juniper. Your boss, friend, and...yeah. We'll keep it at that for now.
(Y/N): Go for, (Y/N).
Juniper: Hey. Just wanted to see how you are today?
(Y/N): Doing dandy. Is something the matter?
Juniper: Just double-checking. With everything going on. Were you able to get the samples completed and tested?
(Y/N): Testing phase now. They should still be in the lab.
Juniper: Fantastic. I will see you here later then.
(Y/N): Likewise. Cheerio.
You both hung up and you rolled back and got your food. Breakfast was fine, but you needed to move a bit faster to get to work on things. You got down to your elevator and rolled up to your custom-built car and drove off. While you were 36 and couldn't use your legs since you were 4, so getting use to things wasn't the hardest issue. The drive was smooth and calming as you got out to the lab near the edge of the woods from Nuvema Town.
You got out of the car with Haxorus and moved up towards the lab and got inside. A few other aids were already inside and they greeted you with a few smiles. You continued to roll down the hall and got to the large lab in the back and moved on inside. Once there, you smiled as you saw Juniper working with her lab assistant, Bianca. Both turned back to you and smiled.
Bianca: Hey (Y/N)!
(Y/N): Hello Bianca. Glad to see you are in such a chipper mood.
Bianca: One way to describe it.
Bianca smiled as you looked over to Juniper and saw her smile a bit. She pulled her head away from the microscope she was looking through and turned back to you. She walked over to you and got behind your chair and pushed you towards the counter with some more data.
Juniper: Well, we were able to get some more runes translated. You said the samples were in the testing phase?
(Y/N): Well, I sent them off to Rowan and Oak for some background details. We should see results back within 2 weeks maximum.
Once you got to the desk, Juniper slowly helped you up to your feet and let you scan over the data. She held onto one of your arms as you looked at the runes. You smiled a bit and pulled away and turned to your friend.
(Y/N): So, did this come from the north or...
Juniper: Milos Island.
(Y/N): Fascinating.
You smiled at Juniper as she looked back at you. As she walked you back to your wheelchair, Bianca watched you both from the door of the lab. In a hushed movement, the young girl stepped through the door and left you and Juniper on your own. Just as you got comfortable in your wheelchair did Juniper call out for her assistant.
Juniper: Where did she-
(Y/N): I have no idea.
Juniper: Well, that is on grounds of being possibly fired.
(Y/N): You wouldn't do it.
Juniper: Maybe.
You laughed a little as Juniper slowly began to do the same. You cracked your neck and got to work going. You looked at some of the more recent finds with Juniper and went back and forth, left and right. You guys got some new intel from fossils of ancient pokemon, looking into the history of things and then for a few more hours, finally you guys got some more work done. And after a few hours, you guys finally got time for a break. Once you did, you rolled back in your wheelchair and sighed a little.
Juniper: Tired?
(Y/N): Yeah. You could say that. Looking at different fossils, ferns, and other historical documents all to see where these creatures emerged from all at once will drain any human. Honestly, I am surprised you are not as exhausted as I am.
Juniper: Oh, I am. Just better at hiding it than you.
(Y/N): Good to know.
You both laughed a little as the door to the lab opened and Bianca walked on through with three cups of coffee.
Juniper: There you are. Where have you been?
Bianca: I didn't want to interrupt the workflow. Plus, I had schoolwork to get done.
Juniper: Right, right, right. I tend to forget that you are part-time. So sorry about that.
(Y/N): As you should be.
You had a bit of a smirk on your face until Juniper kicked your wheelchair a little bit to get to you roll a bit and skid slightly.
(Y/N): Ah! Crippled! Crippled! Crippled!
Juniper giggled a little as she turned back to Bianca.
Juniper: Well, it is late. I say you are free to get going if you want Bianca. I still have a few things to wrap up here.
Bianca: You sure, Professor?
(Y/N): Positive. We can handle most of this.
Bianca: Alrighty then. Have a lovely evening you guys!
Bianca smiled as she walked out of the lab, bringing only one of the cups with her. Juniper walked up and grabbed the other two and brought them back over to you. She looked at both and smiled as she handed you one.
Juniper: Black with some sugar. She knows how you like it.
(Y/N): Beats some people I know.
Juniper: I have tried, alright. I have a lot on my plate.
You laughed a little as Juniper rolled her eyes. She looked out to the lab door with a smile before turning back to you.
Juniper: She's getting there.
(Y/N): Oh yeah?
Juniper: She works hard. She's a good fit for the lab. I just wished she wasn't so scattered brain all the time. She goes from one thing to another without any second thought.
(Y/N): Reminds me of someone else.
Juniper looked at you with a slightly shocked expression but she slowly smiles at you.
(Y/N): She'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it.
Juniper: I'm not. Rather have a scatterbrained assistant than two destroyed legs.
(Y/N): Don't-don't do that.
Juniper: Then don't bring up my own history.
(Y/N): Can't help it. But at least it's not a bad thing. You go straight in and attack my legs. These puppies do a lot of work, alright.
Juniper: No they don't.
You rolled your eyes as she laughed a little. She pulled up a chair and sat down beside you and looked at you. She gave you a smile and you returned it. However, after a few seconds, you cocked an eyebrow.
(Y/N): What is it?
Juniper: (Sighs) Nothing. Just thinking about something.
(Y/N): Like?
Juniper: No need to worry about it. I'm still...I don't know.
(Y/N): Hey. You can tell me.
Juniper looked at you and gave you a smile. She moved closer to you, you both locking eyes with one another. Juniper leaned in and you did the same, both your lips connecting to one another. You cupped her cheek in your hand as you both continued to kiss. This was the one benefit you two had whenever Bianca was gone. You both had your relationship come out. And it was so much better than anything else.
You pulled away from her and smiled a bit as she returned it.
(Y/N): So...dinner tonight. Talk about your concerns.
Juniper: And after that, we do something more...personal.
(Y/N): I like the sound of that.
You both laughed a little before leaning in and kissing one another again. You loved your job, life, and her. You were one hell of a lucky son of a bitch in the eyes of the lab. And you enjoyed every second of it.
