"daddy bye-bye!"
"bye, my love." jaehyun chuckles, giving a flying kiss, making aera cackle and jump on her place, clapping her hands.
jungkook ends the call, grinning at his sister who stands up, leaning on the phone near him. he wraps his arm around her tiny figure, carrying her up with him and walks to the kitchen, seeing jimin already preparing lunch.
"oppa!" aera giggles, wiggling in jungkook's arms until he sighs, giving up and places her down on her feet, watching her sprint towards the eldest brother.
"hey, are you done talking to daddy?" jimin smiles at her, earning an instant nod from the baby as he lifts her up and makes her sit on the counter near him. "what did he day?"
"daddy mish baby"
"ah really? did you tell him you miss him too?"
aera nods again, "mish daddy and! and mamma!"
"good job, daddy must be happy now."
"daddy 'appy" she giggles, making jimin chuckle at her.
"hyungie," jungkook calls, sitting on the bar stool near the kitchen island. "dad was asking when are we going back to la."
"what did you say?" jimin asks, glancing at boy while also keeping his focus on the cutting the fruits.
"i didn't know what to say," the younger shrugs, "so i just told him that you'll call him later and talk about it."
jimin chuckles, nodding his head as he puts the pieces in the jar along with some milk and sugar, blending it together until it looks like a delicious pink smoothie. pouring it into two cups, he hands one to jungkook and sits on the stool, holding the other glass in his hand while bringing aera near him.
"this is lunch?" jungkook asks after taking a sip, "mm it's nice, i won't mind."
"no, i just thought you'd like something different today." jimin shrugs, holding the cup with aera's small hands as she gulps down the smoothie slowly, making an 'ah' sound at the end. "champ, pass me the tissue please."
jungkook grabs the box of tissue, sliding it towards the elder brother who pulls out one and wipes aera's hands and chin as she's already started spilling the drink. the toddler whines a little trying to remove jimin's hand from the cup and hold it herself, making the brother sigh as he let's go and sits silently watching her drinking on her own with drops of the smoothie flowing down from the side of her mouth.
she pulls the cup away from her mouth and looks at jimin, holding it front of his mouth now, "oppa d'ink," she mumbles, reaching closer while jimin pulls his head back, taking the cup back to her lips.
"oppa will have some later, this riri's smoothie. so riri has to finish it." he says, making her drink the fruits smoothie and glances at jungkook who has emptied his glass and is now busy on his phone, "stop using your phone and eat your lunch."
"i'll eat when riri eats." the boy says.
"i'll feed her once she's done with this. you can eat." jimin says, standing up and places aera on her high chair as she keeps moving in an attempt to escape lunch. "by the way, i have to go to the company later. there's some urgent work."
"oh okay," jungkook nods, "how long will you take?"
"i don't know, but i'm hoping it would be around six or seven that i'll get home."
"okay, is jin hyung or anyone coming?"
"later, they're busy too. but tae might come if you want."
"yes!" jungkook nods, "we'll play with my new play station!"
"cool," jimin chuckles, "but remember you've to look after aera as well."
"yes, don't worry hyungie."
jimin shakes his head knowingly and focuses on the little sister for he knows how the younger boys are when it comes to taking care of her. the last and the most jimin ever did was to leave jungkook to babysit aera a few days back when he had to go after receiving an urgent call from jin. and when he came back he had met with a mess, a bunch of diapers, a lot of room freshner, tissues and aera wearing a an old shirt of one of the brothers, instead of some real clothes. that was one lesson jimin took that day: never leave these two alone until aera's toilet trained. yet today is the day he's supposed to leave them together again, and all he can do is pray.
he stands up after feeding aera and leaves her to play while jungkook too is busy yelling over the headset as he's playing online with his friends, completely ignoring the fact that he has his exams starting next week. jimin sighs, however not saying anything and goes upstairs to his room, not having time to argue with the boy.
once he's ready and about to put on his blazer, a thought strikes his mind, making him nod to himself. he takes the blazer in his hand and grabs the other stuff, heading downstairs. "jungkook-ah, c'mere." he calls, however the boy doesn't listen, shouting and whining when his friend kills him instead of the enemy.
"jesus," he mutters, rolling his eyes at the younger boy and grabs the bag with aera's diapers and other stuff, walking to the baby who is sitting and playing with jungkook's drone. putting the bag down, he turns the toddler to face him and checks the diaper again, realising it's fine and doesn't need a change yet.
"listen," he starts, "if you wanna change your diaper, tell kookie okay? don't just throw it here and there."
aera nods, giggling at him and stands up, hugging his arm. jimin smiles at her, patting her back and fastens the button of her cotton dress, before getting up and grabs his blazer again. "jungkook," he pats the brother's shoulder and tugs on the headset, putting it away, "take care of aera, don't just keep playing, and if she accidentally ruins her diaper, do us a favour and please help her out. it's not that hard okay?"
"that's disgusting. why can't she just go and use the toilet? we have enough of those in this huge house."
"because she's just two," jimin sighs, "if i find anything like last time, you're in trouble."
"nooo!" jungkook looks at him desperately, "i won't touch that dirty diaper! she poops in it! eww!"
"you did that too."
"no i did not!"
"who are you even kidding huh? you were in the diapers for almost thre-"
"okay! i get it! are you not getting late now?!" jungkook exasperates with his cheeks flushing red in embarrassment while the elder just laughs at him.
jimin waves at aera who stops playing for a while and grins, waving back at him until he's out of the door. jungkook heaves out a sigh, taking a seat on the couch and glances at his sister, "uhm hyung was just joking... i didn't wear any diapers." he says, and soon an even heavier wave of embarrassment washes him down, realising he just said that to a two-year-old who won't even bother listening to him, let alone understanding.
he stands up, shaking his head and grabs the controller again, deciding it's better to focus on his game than to sit watch his sister stacking up blocks and kicking them, then stacking them up again. what kind of game is that?
after spending a fairly good amount of time beating his friends in the game and scoring the highest for four continuous rounds, the doorbell gains his attention, sending a wide smile to his lips, for he's certain it's taehyung. jogging to the door and almost stumbling on aera's car, he makes it to front and greets the older boy with a hug.
"hey, you took so long! i'm done playing four rounds with my friends."
"yeah, namjoon hyung was driving." taehyung scrunches his face, "it was hard make it till here without bumping into- like ten other cars."
jungkook shakes his head, leading him inside and flops on the couch while taehyung stops near the little girl, "hi aera, what are you doing?" he cooes, earning a look from her which soon turns into a happy one as she gets up and hugs him tightly.
"taetae!"
"yeah, hey, looks like riri missed me?" he grins, picking her up in his arms. aera giggles at him, leaning close and kisses his cheek.
jungkook sighs at the sight, watching another one of the people he knows being head over heals for his sister who is apparently too cute for them. it's not like jungkook doesn't like aera, but seeing others being so affectionate with her bugs him a little. on telling the problem to jimin, the elder had laughed and ruffled his hair calling him cute. but the boy thought it must be something serious. what if it's a symptom of an impending disorder?
"tae hyung, leave her. let's play our game." he says, "jiminie hyung got me the new play station, let's go."
"yeah," taehyung nods, putting aera down and walks to the theatre room with jungkook where jaehyun had installed a wholesome gaming setup ever since jimin was young and used to play with him. even now when he has time and comes home, the father and the eldest son often end up staying up late playing one more match to be the winner. meanwhile jungkook never showed that kind of enthusiasm to play with jaehyun, saying he's his dad and it'll be awkward. but he often played with eunmi who wasn't that good with games but had improved a lot with three gaming freaks around her.
"haha! go right, you idiot!" taehyung snorts, dropping his controller as he's finished the race already while the younger is still struggling to come second at least.
"you cheated! i always win with jimin hyung!" jungkook complaints.
"that's because he lets you win." the elder laughs again, patting jungkook's back as he pouts, crossing the finish line fourth out of eight players. "you should play mario cart with jin hyung, or with yoongi hyung."
"they play like old people."
"exactly, that's why. maybe you'll win then." taehyung mocks at him, earning a glare from jungkook. he stands up, putting the controller away and looks at the phone, seeing a message from jimin which also reminds him that it's already been more than three hours since he left.

jungkook grins, doing a victorious pose in front of taehyung and wiggles his brows at him, "i arranged food for us." he says.
"really? that's great!" taehyung chimes, "what time is it though?"
"uh fiiiiiive....... thirty." jungkook replies, going to the room, finally deciding to check what his sister is doing. taehyung follows behind, both talking and laughing about something related to the videogames.
"riri?" the boy calls, looking around the living room where the toys are scattered on the carpet but the owner of the toys is missing. he frowns, walking to the couch and looks behind it, not finding the sister there either.
"riri? where are you?" taehyung says, walking to the kitchen, sighing when he finds it empty as well.
"where did she go all of a sudden?" jungkook mutters.
"it's not all of a sudden, kook... we've been busy playing for quite long..."
jungkook's eyes gape at him for a moment, nodding eventually as he finds nothing but in the elder's words. chewing on his lower lip, his hand motions for the other boy to start moving and find aera as soon as possible or else the hyungs might strangle them on coming home.
taehyung volunteers to check around the kitchen, guest rooms and the backyard, and jungkook rushes around, barging through the storeroom, the parents' room which they never use and the aera's once-nursery, which again no one uses as jimin shifted it upstairs so that it's closer to his room.
the boy almost whines on not finding his sister and for the first time in forever, regrets having a big house. he stops by the stairs, glancing up, and convinces himself that his two-year-old sister won't climb all the way up when she has her toys in the living room already.
"jungkook-ah!" taehyung shouts, "i found riri!"
a sigh of relief hangs through his lips, rushing to the second guest room and realises taehyung is standing in front of the bathroom, scrunching his face as he points inside. jungkook pushes past him, closing his eyes in disappointment once he's gotten a glance of her standing by the toilet seat, pushing her dirty diaper in with her hand while standing half naked and smiling as if she was proud of her job.
"geez i'm not touching you!" jungkook makes a puking face, seeing here messy state and even the tiled floor around her feet. "how can a human being be so dirty?! argh!"
"she's a baby, jungkook." taehyung sighs, massaging his temples.
"so? will you clean her?"
"no! why would i do that? she's your sister, you have to do it."
jungkook grinds his teeth, staring at the toddler who now takes a step towards him, waddling her way as she's trying not to slip. the boys gasp, stumbling back and close the door, releasing a breath while aera babbles something from inside.
"but wait... how did she take her diaper off?" jungkook mumbles to himself.
"that doesn't matter. you go and clean her up."
jungkook whines at the thought, stomping on the floor and punching the air, before finally taking a deep breath and opens the door only to shut it back again on seeing the baby ready to run to him.
"hey listen," he says, "i'll come in and help you out, but you won't touch me. get it?"
"oppa!" aera cackles from inside, clapping her hands, making the boys sigh.
"what are you so excited for, stupid? you're literary covered in your own poop!" jungkook groans, "after this i am disowning you, i hope you know that."
"just go" taehyung pushes the boy in and locks the door, earning an instant, loud scream from jungkook as he's banging on the door, pleading the elder to open it while the toddler sounds happy with her laughs. "wow," taehyung shakes his head.
he opens the door and peeks in cautiously, only to be pulled in by jungkook who glares at him, standing. after a few seconds of throwing daggers at each other, they release a long breath, dragging their gazes to the little demon who is still laughing and trying to walk towards them despite the jungkook keeping her away with his leg.
"what to do with her now?" taehyung asks.
"honestly, i feel like throwing her away..." jungkook hisses, pushing the little girl back lightly and grabs the shower. taehyung nods, turning on the water while the younger aims it on the target.
aera gasps, blinking a few times with the abrupt exposure to the cold water being thrown on her and stumbles back, falling on her butt. a cry soon works out of her lips when the water doesn't stop, jungkook bends forward and pulls her up, turning her around as he washes her lower body clean, ignoring the wails and the attempts to wiggle away from his grip.
"what's going on?" another voice fills in between the water and the crying baby. taehyung looks over his shoulder, eyes expanding at the sight of jimin and the rest of the hyungs standing at the door with confused faces.
he turns off the water instantly and points at jungkook, "i didn't do anything... it was him,"
"what-" jimin stops in the middle as taehyung moves away, unblocking their field of vision and exposing jungkook's clasp on the aera while she's crying, drenched in water from head to toe. "yah! what are you doing?!" he pulls the boy away and shoots him a glare.
"i was cleaning her!" jungkook states, "ask tae-"
"not me. sorry." taehyung shakes his head.
"you're in my team bitch!"
"no bitch" taehyung smirks.
"both of you, out right now." yoongi declares, before nodding towards jimin with a sigh, "clean her up, we're waiting outside."
jimin glances at them as they walk away, closing the door, making him sigh and look down at aera who has stopped crying now and tugging on her t-shirt that is sticking to her body with the water. he crouches down and takes off the fabric, cleaning her off properly before wrapping her in a towel and carries her in his arms.
she lets out a small sneeze and jimin clicks his tongue, wiping her dry quickly, then dressing her in some warm clothes. aera reaches out for him, taking his name then blabbering half of the sentence, "yes? are you sleepy?" he asks softly.
"oppa, riri milk..." aera mumbles, putting her hand in her mouth.
"ah you're hungry, let's go." he walks out of the room, glancing at the boys who are sitting quietly in the living room, many have changed into comfortable clothes and now waiting for jimin to come.
he prepares aera's milk and checks the temperature, before pouring it in the sippy cup. aera leans forward, taking the cup and starts suckling out the milk instantly, making the brother chuckle fondly. he pats her belly and smiles, "this little tummy was very hungry hm?"
he carries in her arms, heading to the living room and takes a seat with the rest of boys, sitting aera on his lap as she rests against his chest like a princess and drinks her milk quietly, occasionally pulling away with a 'ah' sound and trying to offer it to the brother too who just shakes his head and thanks her for thinking about him.
"so, what were you both trying to do earlier?"
"clean riri." taehyung says, "she had made a mess. a real mess."
"yeah," jungkook nods, "a dangerous mess."
"how?" jin squints at the two.
"she pooped in the diaper, then took it off somehow and then went in the bethroom, choked the toilet and touching around everywhere like that. ew! gross!" the youngest boy cringes at his place, "i was trying to wash her and help her out."
"that's not helping." jimin breathes deeply, "do have any conscience? you were putting cold water on her, what if she catches cold? she's two, jungkook. try to understand that she is not toilet trained yet, that is why babies use diapers. i told you to take care of her, but this is what you end up doing instead."
"i agree, and you tae," jin says, "you're older than jungkook, at least you should've said something. instead of trying to tell him the right way and actually helping him with the problem, you just supported him in this. you didn't think it was wrong to pour cold water on a little child?"
"i'm sorry," taehyung mumbles, "i don't know how diapers work, or else i would've helped them out."
"yeah, exactly. i don't know either." jungkook shakes his head and looks at jimin, "why didn't you teach me?"
"you-" jimin mutters angrily and takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. hoseok pats his shoulder, nodding subtly as a gesture to not get mad, "see him hyung, why is he like this? in place of admitting his fault, he's making excuses. no, fine okay, it's my fault i didn't teach you to change diapers. but you don't have the brain to pay attention and learn it on your own? i change her diapers at least two to three times a day, and it's not like you're not there. mom or dad didn't teach me either, i just saw them doing that to you and knew how it worked. but of course you can't do that, it's too much right?" he scolds the brother, making him slouch against taehyung and glance at him with a pout.
"i am so done. you can't take care of your sister, all you wanna do whole day is playing and chatting with your friends, your exams are next week but you don't care! i swear jungkook if aera gets sick and you score any less than seventy percent, be ready to lose all your electronics, including your videogames. i didn't get the play station to spoil you."
"nooo! you can't take them away! that's inhuman!" the boy retorts, standing up on his feet as he stares at jimin with wide eyes.
"oh and starting right now you will change aera's diapers." jimin declares, "either that or get her trained to use the toilet."
"nooo! why are you doing this to meeeee?" jungkook whines, falling on the couch and squirms in his place, before sitting up again and looks at namjoon, "hyung, say something to him. i don't wanna change diapers and lose my games... he's being so cruel..."
"i..." namjoon smiles nervously glancing at the elders who give off a strict 'no' look, "i'm sorry kook, not this time."
"hobi hyung..." the boy pouts at hoseok, making him shake his head and jungkook sighs.
"y'all are ganging up on me..."
"say that again and you're doing chores too." jimin says.
"what about taehyung? he was with me too... no one is punishing him... jin hyung and joonie hyung are nice hyungies..."
"go with them, see if they raise you." jimin scoffs.
"they will!" jungkook huffs, "kim brothers are my hyungs from now!"
"not another one" namjoon sighs, making hoseok snicker while jungkook's confidence drops to the ground again. taehyung rubs his back sympathetically, shaking her head.
"see?" jimin says and mocks, "kim brothers are my hyungs."
"stop it guys," jin sighs, "and jungkook, taehyung is joining you in all the punishments. he was with you in the wrong so he'll take his part of the punishment too."
"yes!" jungkook cheers, sticking out his tongue at taehyung who groans, glancing at his hyungs.

next day
"ri, noooo! sit on that toilet!" jungkook groans pulling her back and makes her sit on the plastic seat to help aera get used to what toilet feels like. but the baby doesn't look interested in learning the life lesson for she keeps going to grab her cars.
"i'm ready" taehyung says, holding the bag with the cleaning products and everything, staring at the toddler with cautious eyes.
"she's not even pooping yet! what are you ready for- ahhh! aera nooo! not there! you-" jungkook punches the carpet, muttering curses under his breath as instead of the toilet, aera pees on the carpet right next to the tiny, cute toilet menat for babies. "can't you see this? you have to sit on this riri." he says dramatically, pointing at the toilet, earning a giggle from the baby sister.
"she's making fun of you." taehyung snickers, pulling out the wipes and giving it to jungkook while he takes to cleaning up and drying the carpet.
jungkook breathes out defeatedly and cleans her quickly while she's standing at one place, because chasing her around to get her cleaned will take too much energy. "okay now listen to me carefully," he says, making her face him and looks at her with a serious expression, "the thing is, you, jeon aera have to sit on this toilet and stop making a mess here and there because you're a human being okay? you're not a dog or a cat are you?"
"woof!" aera barks in a high pitched voice, telling him what a dog sounds like.
"no, i'm not asking that. i'm saying you have to use the toilet instead of pooping around the house. do you get it or not?"
"oppa..." aera nods, turning away and looks around the room, smiling as her hand points at jimin and the rest of the hyungs standing by the door watching the youngers struggle with a toddler who doesn't understand half of their complex sentences.
"yeah, good job." jungkook sighs, "but pay attention here riri. you have to be a good girl and poop in the toilet okay? if you poop anywhere else on this planet, you're a bad girl."
"no riri no ba' girl..." she shakes her head, pouting at him. "koo no riri be- ba' baby..."
"if you don't wanna be a bad baby, then you've to tell me when you wanna use the toilet. you'll tell me right?"
"mm" she nods quickly.
but she probably didn't mean it because in the next half an hour jungkook is repeating the same set of words after she's popped on the floor and got her diaper from taehyung, giving it to her brother as a gesture for him to put it on her.
by the end of the day both the boys are sprawled on the couch, exhausted to every corner of their bodies and aera is sitting on her high chair, blabbering half of her words, asking for mac-n-cheese from jimin.
"boys! come have your dinner!" yoongi calls, serving their dishes on the dining table while the rest are already on their places, eating and talking to each other. jimin sits near aera, pulling her chair closer and hands her a spoon before starting with his own dinner.
the youngest boys enter the dining area, dragging themselves with all the energy left within them, making the elders chuckle. jungkook sits between jimin and yoongi while taehyung sits between jin and namjoon.
"looks like you both did a lot of work." hoseok laughs.
"yeah..." jungkook sighs, playing with his food, "i'm sorry hyung, taking care of babies is so hard. i'll behave nicely from now, sorry for bothering you so much."
jimin nods at his words, not saying anything as he glances at the elder hyungs, pressing his lips together to prevent himself from smiling.
"yeah same, i'm sorry too." taehyung nods, "i'll be a good hyung to kook more often. he's my only younger brother after all."
"i hope you both learnt your lesson." jin says, earning nods from the two and smiles, "good job, now please reflect on your actions. aera's very young and she's needs someone to take care of her. jungkook, you should understand that your hyung does a lot of work to manage everything, he takes care of you and aera, then he has to go to college and then the company too. that's a lot of effort he puts everyday, you should support him and help him, hm?"
jungkook nods, glancing at jimin and says, "i'm sorry hyungie, i'll be a good brother and help you. don't stress yourself because of me."
"i'm not stressing because of you," jimin chuckles, ruffling the younger's hair, "but yeah, it'll be a big help if you can do little things on your own, like keep your things in place, do your homework on time, and sometimes take care of aera if i'm busy yeah?"
jungkook hums, nodding with a smile as he stands up and hugs the elder brother tightly, "you said i don't say i love you in real life... i love you a lot hyungie, you're the best hyung in the whole world and like a super hero. i'll become like you when i grow up."
jimin smiles at that, patting his back, "thanks for that, hyung loves you more remember that and he's always here when you need him."
"yeah," jungkook grins and pulls away to look at taehyung, "my hyung is not mad at me now. what about yours?"
taehyung glances at jin who shrugs and focuses on eating. yoongi chuckles at that and shakes his head, "jin hyung won't be mad if you promise to be a good hyung and friend to jungkook. you should know when you should support him and when you should stop him from doing something wrong, we won't always be there to guide you the right way."
"i'll do that," taehyung nods, "but don't say like that..."
"like what?"
"about going away,"
"right, when we say about going away you scold us." jungkook nods, agreeing with taehyung, making the elders smile.
"i'm sorry," yoongi says, "but i hope you get what i'm saying."
"yeah, i promise." taehyung smiles, looking at jin, "are you mad at me hyung?"
"i hope you mean it." the eldest says.
"yes," taehyung confirms.
"i'm not mad," jin smiles, patting the boy's head, making him cheer in victory and glance at jungkook giving him a thumbs up.
"now everything is okay," the youngest boy grins, "right riri?"
"oppaaa!" she cackles, clapping her hands, making the boys laugh while jimin turns to her, bringing the spoon of her mac-n-cheese closer to her mouth as a reminder for her that she's having dinner and not playing.
