the daily rounds around the park that add up to nearly two miles, are exhausting. but for jungkook nothing meant more than fitness, so just like any other day he had dragged aera, ignoring the whines from the girl, protesting as she claimed that it should be her resting day as she just celebrated her fifteenth birthday yesterday!
the brother didn't listen and left aera with no choice than to go with him, leaving her favourite movie in the middle. her expression still holds the subtle scowl, eyes sending frequent glares towards jungkook who doesn't mind and pats her back, nodding his head forward to continue running.
"we're almost there." he says, sweat trickling down from his forehead and locks too, but still looking fresh with his movements while aera is already panting heavily, mentally cursing every possible situation that lead her to go out and run.
"i'm... tired..." she pants out, shaking her head as her feet stop a few meters away the cherry blossom tree that acts as their starting and finishing point every evening.
"come on champ, it's barely any distance left." jungkook lets out an airy chuckle, passing her and stops two steps by the tree, motioning his hand for his sister to come. "ri, come on, in one, two, three!"
aera sighs deeply, whining at her brother as she sprints towards him, using all the energy left in any corner of her body. jungkook smiles proudly, holding up his hand for a high-five as soon as she stops near him. instead of responding to him, the girl groans in frustration, hitting his legs as she collapses on the grassy ground next to the paved path.
"you suck" aera mutters.
"that is disrespectful."
"you suck jungkookie oppa."
"aera," he sighs, shaking his head.
"i didn't want to come here! now i'm dying, i won't get up! carry me!"
"don't do like that, you're a good girl." he says patting her head, laughing when aera whines again, pushing his hand away. "aish! okay, let's go home now?"
"my feet hurt..." she says, glancing at the brother, "piggyback?"
"nope."
"pleeeease! you said i'm your baby..."
"i never said that." jungkook laughs.
"you did! you said i'm your baby and little girl and your child, why are you not carrying me then?"
"you're such a drama queen." jungkook sighs, "i'm not carrying you. start walking."
"you're being rude." aera mumbles.
"i am very rude."
"i'm not going with you then." the sister huffs, "i'll stay with jiminie oppa and unnie."
"they won't keep a messy kid with them." jungkook laughs.
"i'm not messy! i'll go to daegu!"
"just get up and let's go home." jungkook shakes his head.
"you are not my brother," aera declares, glaring at jungkook who scoffs, sticking out his tongue at her as she looks cute despite being mad, so mad that it's a miracle steam is not yet coming out of her ears. but the baby face of hers never makes her look angry, unless she starts showing off her fighting techniques.
"oppa's tired too, riri."
"no, but oppa's strong... i don't wanna walk. piggyback please?"
"you're strong too."
"no, i'm not." she shakes her head, "koo's more strong."
for a moment, jungkook stares at her, soon breaking into a chuckle when aera's pouting at him, giving the irresistible puppy eyes, "when will you grow up?" he ruffles her hair, turning around and gestures her to get on his back.
aera giggles, kissing his cheek a few times as he carries her on his back, heading towards main gate of the park, "thanks koo, you're my brother."
"someone's being too cute today." jungkook glances at her sideways, earning a laugh from the sister as she shakes her head.
"you're cute too."
"am i? i thought i suck."
"yeah sometimes, a little bit."
"i see, we gotta go home and have riri's tickle monster back huh?"
"i don't like tickle monster." she laughs.
"you do, that's why you keep telling me to bring him back."
"no,"
"really? then who keeps asking, koo lets play tickle monster ?"
"because i have my gun." aera giggles, "if i don't have my gun, we can't play tickle monster."
"why not?" jungkook chuckles amusedly.
"because tickle monster is strong, and he catches me in a minute."
"okay so, we've to make riri strong hm?"
"yeah," she nods, stopping for a moment as her eyes that were looking around carefree a moment ago, pin on the other side of the road now.
"alright, get down now, i'm sure your legs have gotten enough rest." jungkook says as aera jumps down from his back, "let's get some snacks, we're running out of them."
"you can go, i'll wait here." she says, making jungkook nod as he whistles casually, entering the store while aera frowns at the three people on the bus stop, the other side of the road.
for anything she concludes, those men are too close to the girl to be comfortable. for a second, aera waits for the signal to change, watching how the girl shifts from her place, away from the two men who move after her again, one standing next to her and the other behind her.
aera cracks her neck, zipping up her jacket and fixing the headband on her hair as she crosses the street, not waiting for the signal anymore. her eyebrows brows arch in astonishment, anger rising up from her clenched fists to the rest of her body when she realises the poor girl is none other than her eldest brother's newly wed wife.
"hi unnie," she starts, gradually pacing towards her, making haewon flinch at the voice.
"h-hey, what are you doing here?"
aera glances at the men who are smirking at her now, "nothing, just came out for a run. what are you doing here?"
"uh nothing, you should go, j-jungkook must be worri-"
"get away from her." aera voices with firmness, earning a deep chuckles from the two as one of them steps forward, standing in front of aera and the other grabs haewon's wrist.
"mind your own business, little girl." the former mocks, followed by a wince from haewon, struggling to get the other man to leave her hand.
"leave her!" aera glares at him, pushing past the first man and hits the latter with a high kick right on his nose, making it bleed at once.
haewon gasps at the action, pulling the young girl by her arm, "what are you doing aera, don't mess wi-"
"ahh!" aera hisses with the strong tug on her hair. the man grips tighter, pulling her back and slams her body into the pole nearby, making her wince in pain. she glares at him, strategically kicking the back of his knee, followed by a hard one right below his head, making him fall on the ground, face first.
"how dare you touch her like that?!" she shouts, punching the other guy a few times, until he caught up with her technique, grabbing her hand and twists it behind her back, locking her feet with his and pushes her to the ground, earning a loud groan.
"aera!" haewon cries, trying her best to push the guy away. her hasty attempts freeze on hearing one voice, lifting her eyes she found jungkook already running towards them.
"noona? what-"
"jungkook, thank god you're here. aera..." she gestures her hand towards the man, now having jungkook's full attention as he notices the man about to hit his sister.
"no, you don't!" he growls, kicking the man's face, making him fall to the side, leaving aera coughing as haewon quickly helps her up.
"bastard!" jungkook punches him one last time, "make sure i never see you near them again."
the two hurry away, limping and groaning, and jungkook turns to face the girls. sighing deeply, he approaches his sister first, scanning her from head to toe, hissing softly on seeing the blood oozing out of her chin, some dropping directly on her jacket and some flowing down from her jaw slowly.
"oppa..." she whimpers, touching her chin, looking at jungkook with teary eyes, all the anger and will to protect her unnie now settling down on being certain that they're safe.
jungkook hums in response nodding his head as he pulls out his handkerchief, pressing it gently against the wound, "hold it here." he says, pulling out his phone, "i'll call a cab, it looks pretty bad, i guess you need stitch or something."
"a stitch?" haewon gasps, shaking her head, dropping a few tears, "i'm so sorry, aera... you shouldn't have done this-"
"why are you sorry noona? she's very troublesome, getting in fights is not at all new for us." jungkook sighs, fixing his gaze on aera, "this time it's too much, you ended up fighting with two men? did you see they were double or even triple your own size. thank heavens i came on time aera, you can't even imagine how much they could've hurt you. from today, no more boxing, no taekwondo and no going out of the house. i'll see how you-"
"jungkook, don't say that. she did it for me." haewon says, patting aera's head, "those guys were trying to get close to me, aera saw that and tried to stop them, but it ended up like this... i'm sorry."
"what?" jungkook stares at aera with wide eyes, making the girl look away with a huff, tears streaming down her face. "really? my child, i'm so sorry aera. you're a really strong girl that you could help your unnie. but kiddo, you should be mindful of your actions. there's no way you could've won against those people. they were bigger than you both mentally and physically. you should've called me and i'd help you."
"i didn't fink of dat... i was so mad, they waf toufing unnie..." aera muffles out with a whimper, "oppa it hur's..."
"i know, don't worry. it'll be fine." he assures her with a hug, then glances at haewon, "noona, are you okay? did they hurt you?"
"no, i'm fine." she says, "just aera... i-"
"it's okay noona, it's not even your fault. don't blame yourself for this. she's faced a lot of injuries, one more wouldn't harm that much." he jokes, patting aera's back while she's busy sticking to him, showing the red stained handkerchief.
"what are you saying?" the elder girl sighs, "it's bleeding a lot jungkook."
"it'll be fine," he assures, stopping for a moment as a white cab stops by, and he nods at the driver as a gesture saying, yes, i called an uber. "let's go," he pats aera's cheek, wiping the tears away gently.
haewon's phone interrupts the consoling going on for the youngest girl who also muffles her sobs into jungkook's shirt, staying close to him, trying her best to divert her mind from her torn chin to jungkook's soothing voice.
"it's jimin," haewon says, earning a glance from the boy, who sighs, nodding for her to answer. so she takes the call, summarising the whole incident in two lines, letting him know that they're heading to the hospital now. as and expected reaction, jimin freaked out on knowing aera got involved in yet another fight and the injury as haewon told him, sounded serious.
they reached the hospital soon, taking aera to the emergency room where the doctor had told about the need to stitch the wound as soon as he saw the bleeding and the kid's crying face.
"the doctor said you need to give your chin some rest, at least till the stitches are fresh. other than that, it's fine." jungkook says as he enters the room, holding a small brown bag, that he gives to haewon.
"what is this?"
"some pain killers, if it hurts too much-"
"aera?!" the door opens in an instant, revealing a panicked jimin who rushes to the side of the bed, next to his sister, "oh my god, what have you done? is it fun getting hurt all the time? do you have any idea how worried i was?"
"mmm, got hurf..." aera muffles, nodding her head as she points at her chin.
"of course you did. how many times do i need to tell you stop getting yourself into fights. and today you crossed all the limits, i'm really disappoin-"
"jimin stop scolding her, you don't even know the whole thing." haewon interrupts.
jungkook chuckles, "those guys were harrassing noona, and ri got mad."
aera sighs in embarrassment, being too aware of how frequent she gets in trouble that the brothers don't even need to know what actually happened and just can safely assume that she indeed faught for some silly reason. none of her reasons were silly though, not according to her.
"what?" jimin frowns, "you... really?" he turns to his wife, then jungkook and then to aera, earning nods of affirmation from each one of them. "gosh! my baby, i'm so sorry aera." he breathes out, leaning forward to hug his sister.
"if's okay" she muffles out, later forming a pout as her index finger points at the bandage on her chin, "it hur's oppa..."
"i know, kiddo. you're so strong, thanks a lot for helping your unnie." jimin smiles softly, "i really can't thank you enough."
"ife-cweam"
"ah yeah, of course." he chuckles, kissing her forehead.
"y'know, i got sfi-es..."
"you got what?"
"stitches," jungkook laughs, "gosh aera, you're sounding so funny like this! feels like we have our two-year-old babbling baby back."
"mmmh!" aera whines, pointing her hand at jungkook while her eyes move to jimin.
"jungkook, stop messing with her." the elder sighs, "i'm so sorry you got hurt because of all this. you should be careful, kiddo. instead of fighting and handling the situation on your own, calling jungkook would've been a hundred times better. try to understand this, kids cannot take care of all the things."
"i'm not kid"
"you are." jungkook grins.
jimin sighs, shaking his head, seeing jungkook and aera keep bickering as the girl gets mad and hits jungkook when he tries to get her to speak more words, then carefully pinching her cheek on how adorable she sounded. jimin glances at his wife, who looks fine now, wearing a smile as she looks back at him. he gestures her to come out for a while, leaving the siblings alone.
"are you okay?" he asks.
"yeah, thanks to your sister." haewon smiles.
jimin caresses her cheek, "why didn't you tell me anything earlier?"
"i... i thought they would just go away if i ignore them and also, you already have-"
"work? yeah so? that doesn't stand above my wife." he says, taking her hand in his as he pulls her closer, "nothing matters more than you, haewon-ah. i love you and i would do anything to see you smile, love. thank god aera and jungkook were there, i can't even imagine what might've happened if..."
"i'm okay," the wife smiles, "and sorry, i won't hide anything from you now. i'm sorry."
"you should be." he nods, hugging her with his eyes closed as he places a kiss on her shoulder and one beside her head, "i love you, remember that."
"i love you more, now let's go. tell jungkook and aera to come home, let's have dinner together." she smiles, pulling away, making the husband chuckle as he nods before leaning to kiss her lips once.
"hyung i- oh sorry!" jungkook turns around, closing the door again, "let's wait for a minute, riri." his voice tells aera, making the elder brother sigh and pull away from his wife after pecking her once.
"you can come out now." jimin says.
jungkook grins at the brother, patting his shoulder and leans in to whisper, "don't worry, ri didn't see a thing."
jimin smacks his head, making the boy laugh, "anyway, aera, do you wanna come home and have dinner together?" he asks the youngest girl who smiles at him as mych as can with the bandage holding her chin, nodding her head.
she leaves jungkook's hand, taking jimin's instead and says, "yeah, lef's go!"
"you can't even speak, how're you gonna eat?" jungkook jokes.
"i will eat!"
"you won't."
"i will!"
"nope."
"oppaaa!"
"stop it jungkook, what is wrong with you today?"
jungkook laughs again, glancing at haewon who chuckles, shaking her head at the younger boy, "let's go." she says.
"yes, y'all have eachother, and i got noona." he declares, following the older girl like a puppy. "noona, i'm gonna help you cook."
"thanks jungkook, but i'd like it more if you just sit and rest. i'll do the cooking."
"yeah, but i wanna help you. like a little of chopping? or other work, you can tell me."
"alright, if you insist. so today's kitchen duty is on me and jungkookie."
"yep!" jungkook grins.
"you never volunteered to help me." jimin mentions, "why her?"
"she's my only noona." jungkook answer, "i have five more hyungs other than you, so that makes you all very common. also, i gotta make sure noona is not overworking and tiring herself."
"aw you're adorable!" haewon cooes, riffling jungkook's hair.
"he don' help me too." aera says.
"excuse me?" jungkook chuckles, "i do literally everything for you, from cooking, cleaning, laundry, feeding you, taking you to school, look after your homework, boxing, taekwondo, and after that we talk about how things are going. consider all that as 'helping'."
"oh..." aera blinks a few times, "thanks koo, i'm sowwy..."
"uh you don't have to apologize, i didn't say it to make you feel bad or anything. it's my duty, aera, and i have no problem doing that for my baby."
aera smiles at him, "koo's nice." she says, glancing at jimin who nods in agreement.
"alright, now what do y'all wanna eat?" haewon asks.
"uhm chick-en." aera says.
"i don't think you'll be able eat that without moving your jaw so much." jimin says, "how about something more soft? uh that has soup?"
"i'll eat what oppa's eating." aera says, not paying much mind to jungkook and haewon's discussion about dinner while she walks in silence with the eldest brother.
"you must be tired right?" jimin asks, wrapping his arm around aera's smaller body as she nods, looking up at him. "y'know just yesterday, i was about to call you, to see how's my little girl doing."
"li'l girl gettin' in fight." aera giggles.
jimin chuckles at her, "yeah, i mean how is it possible that you're not afraid of anything?"
"i'm stwong like oppa."
"you're stronger than oppa."
"no, oppa's stwongest."
jimin smiles, patting her head and speaks, "but on a serious note, you didn't even think twice before fighting two men?"
"they wuh bad. an' they wuh hur'ing my oppa's wife."
"aish!" jimin sighs deeply, bring the sister in his embrace, giving her a tight hug, "my child, thanks a lot."
"no fanks, ife-cweam."
"whatever you say." jimin chuckles, showing his cheek as he leans down, "but a kiss first?"
aera smiles, nodding and kisses his cheek quickly, wrapping her arms around his neck, "cawwy me."
"come." he agrees, turning around and takes her into a piggyback.
"byeee! we win!" she squeaks, waving at jungkook and haewon as jimin walks ahead, making them chuckle.

a/n- come on who else is waiting for bts to have a comeback? i am really looking forward for a new album, (honestly who isn't right)
also i have a question, just a random one i was thinking about the response y'all gave to the jungkook-as-a-father chapter (beautiful mistake) was awesome, and many of you even suggested me to to make a different book with jungkook and his daughter. so if i were to start a new book (if i get time in future maybe, idk) what would you want the name of the daughter to be? i was thinking to keep a few things same as here, like jimin and jungkook can still be brothers and the baby's name can be aera (because we are attached to the name. at least i am 😭) what do you think?
i'm not saying that i'll publish it now because i have two more because and even this going on, and it's hard carrying everything together. i have school and my personal life too which is already a mess. so idk for now. but maybe in future if things go as i'm planning then i might think of having such a book where jungkook has a little daughter.
